Building a gas water heater into a cabinet is the best, but not always legal, way to disguise a gas water heater. In some cities it is allowed and actively practiced, in others it is strictly prohibited. To avoid fines or, worse, accidents, develop a design for the installation, then be sure to consult with the local gas service and obtain official permission.

How to hide a gas water heater in a kitchen cabinet correctly and safely?

• A gas water heater with an open combustion chamber must be hidden in a false cabinet without a top or bottom; the side walls of the cabinet must be at a distance of at least 15 cm from the side walls of the device. Solution 4. Decorating the facades and splashback in white

1. Create a background in which the gas water heater, meter and riser will simply “dissolve” and will be practically invisible regardless of their location;

Thus, you will not have to complicate, increase the cost and delay the renovation of the kitchen and the design of the set, and the device itself will always be available to those. service. By the way, caring for white surfaces, contrary to myths, is as simple as caring for surfaces of any other color. Moreover, light shades much more practical than dark ones (if we're talking about not about fabrics) and visually make the interior tidier. However, it is not necessary to decorate the walls and apron in white. In order for the appliance to fit organically into the interior, it is enough to support it with other white elements, for example, a hood and an oven, as in this country-style kitchen design project.

Solution 5. Painting the column to match the wall/facades

If you don’t want to adapt the design of your kitchen to a gas water heater, then do the opposite and adapt it to the interior itself. To do this, simply paint the cabinet to match the background (wall, splashback), to match the facades, or to match any color accents available in the kitchen. The principle of operation is simple: first you need to sand the body a little, then cover it with a primer and let it dry; and then apply paint, or rather heat-resistant enamel from a can or using a spray gun in a couple of layers. In this case, it is advisable to equip the chimney with non-aluminum corrugated pipe, which gets very hot, and the chimney is a sandwich with a heat-insulating layer. This way, the ceiling will not be damaged by heat (from combustion products going into the chimney) and will not itself become an obstacle to draft. If necessary, the chimney opening can be lowered slightly.
