Sectional door installation diagram. Sectional doors: recommendations for self-installation. Advantages of sectional doors

A reliable, spacious garage with a high-quality gate is the dream of any car owner. Sectional doors were invented in Germany, over 40 years they have won the recognition of drivers in Europe, and have become quite popular in Russia. They are used in workshops, car washes and service stations, as well as in private homes. For selection best option You need to understand the features of sectional garage doors. And how to install them with your own hands - you will understand from step by step instructions and video with installation technology.

Design characteristics and operating principle

Sectional doors are a well-designed, durable mechanism that lifts door leaf up along the guides located on the ceiling.
The canvas consists of metal panels(sections) connected by hinges. The lifting mechanism consists of guides, drums and cables with a spring mechanism. One movement of the hand - and the gate smoothly rises up. The sections overlap each other and are hidden under the ceiling.

Attention! Gates with the second type of drive can be equipped with a remote control system and other options that significantly increase the cost of the mechanism.

Typically, the design is equipped with automatic opening, but in cases of power outages, the gate can be opened manually.

Automatic opening is provided by a drive, which can be of 2 types:

  • torsion system. Installed on the ceiling, it works thanks to a cable. As soon as the owner presses the button, the traction lever pulls the cable, and with it the sectional blade. This type is most often used in garages at private homes;
  • bulk drive. More complex design with motor and torsion shaft. It is mounted directly above the gate and is equipped with a chain, thanks to which the door opens without electricity. This type of automation is more powerful, suitable for large, heavy gates, which means it is rarely used in garages at home.

Characteristics of sectional doors

Judging by the reviews of the owners, sectional doors are easy to use and have a number of undeniable advantages:

  • saving space in the garage and in the entrance area, in contrast to swing structures;
  • durability. Durable mechanism works for over 10 years;
  • protection against corrosion thanks to a special coating;
  • operation in conditions ranging from 50°C frost to 70°C heat;
  • sections made of sandwich panels provide a high level of thermal insulation (thermal conductivity 0.5 W/sq.m);
  • excellent sound insulation (29 dB) and fire protection properties;
  • tightness. Elastic seals hold the panels together so that there are no cracks;
  • versatility. The variety of sizes allows you to install sectional doors in openings of any size;
  • safety. The presence of special locks that snap into place after closing, and a system of protection against cable breakage;
  • maintainability. In the event of a dent or breakage, any section can be replaced;
  • Availability additional functions. By equipping your garage with an additional gate, you don’t have to open the gate if you enter the garage on foot. And motion sensors will help you not even press a button;
  • wide choice of colors and materials. Any design can be applied to the surface.

Flaws:

  • purchase and installation are quite expensive;
  • The gate must be properly maintained.

If the structure is installed correctly, then its repair will not be required for a long time. Weak points are moving parts of the mechanism, for example, rollers, which wear out faster.

Sizing and selection features

Standard gate sizes: height – from 2 to 6 m, length – up to 5 m, section width from 35 to 61 cm. Before purchasing, you should determine exact dimensions your future gate. To do this you need to measure:

  • opening height;
  • opening width;
  • lintel height (the wall between the opening and the ceiling);
  • the depth of entry of the door into the garage;
  • distance from the edge of the opening to both side walls.

Advice. The opening should be measured from inside, because gates are installed on inner surface garage opening. It is better to take measurements at several points and focus on the largest numbers.

All measurements start from the zero mark, i.e. from the level of the finished floor. Another important condition is the horizontality of the floor and lintels and the verticality of the walls. This is checked using a level. The type of automatic drive and the type of gate installation (low, standard, high) will depend on the obtained dimensions.

What to pay attention to before making a purchase:

  • fabric pattern: narrow corrugation, medium corrugation, wide corrugation, microwave, or panel;
  • sandwich panel color or wood-imitating finish;
  • whether it is necessary to install a gate or windows;
  • types of locks: internal or external.

The thickness of the sandwich panels is selected depending on the availability of heating. For a cold garage, panels with a thickness of 20 mm are suitable. For heated - 35 - 45 mm. In addition, practitioners advise paying attention to the manufacturer, whose reliability directly determines the quality of the product.

Features of choosing accessories

If the choice of color and pattern is an obvious process, then the choice of fittings is quite complicated. The main thing is to understand that most of the load falls on moving parts, so they must be of excellent quality.

Advice. Risk if not making the right choice or errors in installation - great. A heavy blade may fall on the vehicle or injure a person.

During installation, it is not allowed to use used parts or purchase components from different manufacturers (they may be incompatible). Before purchasing, you need to check whether the parts are sold separately in case replacement is necessary.

A useful addition that ensures safety is a system that prevents pinching of fingers and cable breakage.

Preparing for DIY installation

It is impossible to make sectional doors with your own hands, but you can buy them and install them yourself.

What should be included in the purchase package:

  • canvas;
  • guides;
  • spring balancing system;
  • mechanism providing movement;
  • locks.

Tools required for gate installation:

  • tape measure and level;
  • drill;
  • hammer, screwdriver, wrench, pliers;
  • helmet, gloves, safety glasses.

Surface preparation – important stage installations. If everything is horizontal and vertical surfaces smooth, then you can not touch them. If not, everything needs to be leveled and plastered.

Advice. When preparing for installation, invite an assistant. One person cannot handle the installation.

In addition, it is better to adhere to the following rules:

  1. Check each step with the instructions.
  2. Calculate all the required dimensions as accurately as possible, otherwise you will encounter difficulties during installation.
  3. Take all components out of the packaging and lay them out to figure out the order of use.

A significant point is compliance with safety regulations. The design contains heavier parts, so it is recommended to wear a helmet.

Sectional door installation technology

When everything is done preparatory work, you can begin installation:

  1. Mark with a pencil the places where the main elements will be fixed. If necessary, expand the opening.
  2. Assemble the gate frame.
  3. Raise the frame and install it in the opening. Only secure thoroughly after adjusting the inclination level.
  4. Assemble and fasten the guides with bolts.
  5. Attach them to the ceiling according to the previously applied markings.
  6. Assemble the canvas, fastening the sections one by one. You should start from the bottom. Each element must be equipped with rollers.
  7. Assemble a spring mechanism that balances the structure.
  8. Install the handles to start the mechanism.
  9. Cover all important components with special covers to prevent dust from entering the mechanism.

If everything is done correctly, it will stay tightly at a certain level, neither rise nor fall. To check, you should open and close it several times.

Properly selected sectional doors will be easy to use, and proper installation will ensure a long service life.

Installation of sectional doors - photo

The design of sectional doors was developed about 40 years ago in Germany. Today this is the most common type garage doors in Europe. In Russia, sectional doors are just beginning to gain popularity among consumers.

Sectional garage doors have a wide range of applications. They are installed at industrial facilities, car service centers, car dealerships and parking lots. Gates installed in private houses and underground garages perfectly emphasize and complement the architecture of the building.

Operating principle and design features of sectional doors

Sectional doors are lifting mechanism, during which the flexible web rises and retracts under the ceiling.

The canvas consists of four to six sections connected to each other by hinged hinges. When the gate opens, the sections move upward and stack on top of each other. The movement occurs due to drums and cables, balanced by a spring mechanism. Along the frame and under the ceiling there are guides along which the panels slide supported by rollers.

Standard sizes of sectional garage doors are:

  • height 2-6 meters;
  • length - up to 5 meters (gates up to 7 meters can be made to order);
  • width of one section (35-61 cm).

It is advisable to install gates with the minimum required dimensions. Compact gates operate more stably and the risk of gate blocking is reduced (heavy modules can jam in the guide grooves)

Each module is made according to the principle of sandwich panels. External sheets are made of aluminum or galvanized steel. To make the sections more decorative, they can be covered with a wooden panel, which significantly increases the cost of the gate.

Depending on whether the room is heated or not, the thickness of the sandwich panels is selected:

The internal filling of the modules is insulation that does not absorb moisture (polyester or polyurethane foam). Install between the gate sections cork material, which ensures a tight fit of the modules to each other and prevents the occurrence of “cold bridges” (the permissible gap size is no more than 4 mm).

The bottom panel of the gate is equipped with an elastic seal, so the metal section does not freeze to the floor in cold weather.

Automatic sectional garage doors are equipped with an electric drive with the possibility of manual control in the event of a power outage. The electric motor is installed on the middle rail, which regulates the movement of the sashes.

Advantages and disadvantages of sectional garage doors

Sectional doors have many advantages:

  • saving space in the garage and at the entrance to it;

  • high thermal insulation with sections made of sandwich panels (thermal conductivity coefficient - 0.5 W/sq.m);
  • good sound insulation of sandwich panels (29 dB);
  • reliable sealing of the opening;
  • versatility of use (the gate can be installed in rooms with different opening lengths);

  • fireproof design (the materials used prevent the spread of fire);
  • ease of use;
  • decorative and aesthetic (any design can be applied to the modular sections);

  • long guarantee period(about 10 years);
  • ease of repair (if the gate breaks, it is enough to replace one damaged section);
  • control can be manual, remote and automatic;
  • safety of use (modern sectional doors are equipped with the option of protection against cable breakage).

The disadvantages of sectional garage doors include their high cost and the need for periodic maintenance. If the gate is installed correctly, repairs will not be needed soon. Typically, its need arises when sectional modules are damaged by vehicles or spare parts are worn out (rollers, balancing springs, moving parts of the mechanism).

What is better: making sectional doors yourself or trusting professionals?

The desire to minimize waste and realize creative potential pushes many car enthusiasts to design and manufacture sectional garage doors with their own hands. However, the result does not always justify the efforts and expectations.

Very often, the complexity of “self-taught” designs increases costs, and ready product cannot boast of high reliability and durability. Factory models are equipped with special safety elements that prevent the blade from accidentally falling.

It is advisable to assemble the gate yourself according to original drawings using cheaper factory parts. Alternatively, you can buy used mechanisms in good condition from well-known and reliable manufacturers.

The main thing in self-installation- correctly “read” the layout of the sectional door design parts

If there is no special desire and extra time to experiment, then best option- purchase of ready-made gates and installation by representatives of the manufacturer.

  • gates with tension springs can be installed with minimum requirements lintels, but they are noisier and are designed for fewer operating cycles;
  • gates with a torsion mechanism are considered the most reliable and practical (designed for 25,000 operating cycles) and have a higher price.

Doorhan garage door panels are 40 mm thick, the filler is polyurethane foam, the outer layers are galvanized steel with polymers.

In the construction of parking lots and cottages, Alutech sectional garage doors are widely used, which have high levels of strength and safety.

The thickness of Alutech gate sandwich panels is 45 mm, the filler is polyurethane foam, the outer layers are 0.4 mm thick steel with a 16 micron zinc coating. Elasticity and mechanical strength modular sections are achieved due to the polymer EPDM seal that the door panels are equipped with.

Alutech sectional doors are “warm” and hermetic, which allows them to be used in any region (even in the frosty conditions of the Far North).

Installation of sectional garage doors

Required tools and materials

For self-installation For sectional doors, you need to purchase all the components and prepare the necessary tools.

The installation kit for sectional doors includes:

Preparing the doorway

Before installing sectional garage doors, you need to prepare the room and doorway:

The permissible error in the horizontal level of the floor in the garage is no more than 0.1 cm

Installation work: rules and installation procedure

When starting to install sectional garage doors, you need to take into account some important points:

  1. The basic rule for proper installation is maintaining a clear vertical line of the doorway and tightly fixing all structural elements. Sectional doors “will not tolerate” distortions.
  2. In your work you must use self-tapping screws, dowels and anchors of the sizes specified in the instructions.
  3. To level the structure, do not use foam or wooden pegs. The gate can be adjusted using “different-sized” metal pads.

The procedure for assembling and installing sectional doors:

If the work is not done alone, but in the company of one or two more volunteer assistants, then the installation will be completed within two to three hours.

Main criteria for choosing sectional doors

In order for the operation of sectional doors to be long-lasting and uninterrupted, when purchasing a product you need to pay attention to some important parameters.

Sectional doors have many advantages and are often used in garage construction. With the right choice and proper installation, such gates will last a long time without requiring costly major repairs.

Sectional metal gates are very convenient to use, have an attractive appearance and open state They don't take up any space at all. All these advantages allow them to be used both in private garages and in parking lots, warehouses and manufacturing enterprises, in car services and car washes.

The design of sectional garage doors is quite simple: the door leaf itself consists of separate sections (30-60 cm high) connected to each other by hinges, the joints are covered with a sealant. Along the edge of each section there are rollers with bearings, which provide the ability to move.

The leaf moves along two vertical L-shaped guides upward and is laid directly under the ceiling - in this position, the sectional garage doors are open, when it is necessary to close the opening, the sections move in the opposite direction and take a vertical position.

Vertical lifting of the canvas is less common - in this case, the height of the building should allow the gate to be placed directly above the opening, and this is only possible in large rooms. Of course, the mechanism can be activated either manually or using automation; sectional doors are very convenient to use.

Choosing a manufacturer of sectional doors

As they say, demand creates supply, so now there are a large number of products from different manufacturers on the market, but the undisputed favorites among them are only three companies: Doorhan, Alutech, Hormann.

The first enterprise is domestic manufacturer, whose products are in the lowest price category. The Belarusian brand Alutech is valued for its decent quality and good service support. Hormann gates are the most expensive purchase, but high quality German products compensate for considerable financial investments.

Criteria for selecting sectional doors

Before you begin installing sectional doors, you need to select them. What you should pay attention to? When choosing products from the price category available to you, check with the seller what kind of door leaf your gate will have: insulated or not. In an insulated garage or any other heated room, it is logical to choose insulated sections (from 35 mm thick), and in a cold building you can use a thin sheet without insulation (from 9 mm).

Good sealing of the joints of individual door segments is very important, because constant drafts are unlikely to please you, precipitation and, of course, dust can enter, and in addition, heat will escape through the cracks. The sealant is responsible for the tightness of the connections; the softer and more elastic it is, the better.

Corrosion resistance is also an important indicator, since each segment is a sandwich inside of which there is insulation (expanded polystyrene foam, polyurethane foam or mineral wool), and the edges are galvanized metal sheets(sometimes stainless steel is used). It is desirable that the metal be primed and coated with a polymer, which will give it increased resistance to the effects of an aggressive external environment.

Lift-type sectional doors, consisting of sections, can be not only solid, but also panoramic - when transparent inserts of double-glazed windows made of high-strength glass are made in the panels (and also have a wicket door). This design allows you to open an overview of what is inside the room - this is important for car dealerships and any other trading platforms that must attract the buyer by showing him their product.

All mechanisms of sectional metal gates must comply international standards safety and provide protection from pinching, including fingers, from uncontrolled movement of the door leaf and its fall, and also guarantee safe operation so that it is impossible to get injured on individual structural elements.

Trust the installation to professionals!

The durability and reliability of the sectional mechanism depends on the quality of the gate itself and on the level of professionalism of the specialists who carried out the installation. Even the most modern and expensive systems, if installed incorrectly, can threaten the safety of both the vehicle passing under them and the owner himself. Don’t tempt fate and don’t waste your money - sectional doors should be installed by professionals.

Standard set

By purchasing a standard kit, you will receive a set of elements for assembly (more than 25 items), which includes: the door leaf itself, guides, torsion shaft with springs, rollers, counterweight system, limiters, fittings and safety system devices...

By the way, before making an expensive purchase, accurately measure the opening in which you subsequently plan to mount the gate - the leaf should be wider and higher, since at the edges it will definitely press against the wall and the larger the gap, the more burglar-resistant the structure. On the sides, a distance of 15-20 cm is usually left, and a margin on top is 20-30 cm. Depending on the measurements taken, the sizes of all knots and parts are selected.

Preparation, assembly and installation

Installation sectional system The gate can be divided into several main stages:

  • preparing the opening (and, if necessary, strengthening it);
  • assembly of sectional doors;
  • installation;
  • checking the operation of all mechanisms.

Highly qualified specialists never begin installation until they have checked the opening itself. Its surface must be flat and smooth; even the slightest deviations vertically and horizontally are unacceptable, so slopes are checked with a level. A misalignment of even a couple of millimeters will lead to irreparable consequences.

If the walls are uneven, then when the sectional door is closed there will be drafts, because it is impossible to ensure a perfectly tight and airtight connection of the door leaf to the walls (shoulders and lintel). Therefore, it is necessary to plaster the surface.

The floor also needs improvement if its surface is not ideal and has uneven surfaces. Although the lower part of the gate is equipped with a special elastic seal, it still needs to rest on a surface that does not have protrusions and depressions, otherwise it will not be possible to achieve a tight closure.

If the walls are made of materials such as foam and aerated concrete, hollow ceramic blocks, then they first need to be reinforced (so that the fastenings do not fall out along with the gate structural elements) - usually a metal frame is used for these purposes.

Size matters

The height of the ceiling is also very great importance. The lintel is the part of the wall located between top part opening and ceiling. If you plan to install small gates (for example, 3x2.5 m) with an area of no more than 8 square meters. m., then the minimum permissible lintel height is 110 mm, but this is for gates with manually lifting, and automatic ones require more space - 130 mm.

It is better to ensure in advance that there is a margin of lintel height so that automation can be installed later.

Small sectional doors are installed in private garages, but hangars or warehouses require larger dimensions of the door leaf, so the lintel height must be at least 210 mm.

Standard, low or high?

The door installation option depends on the size of the lintel: standard, low or high. The standard version assumes that the lintel has a height of 210 mm (or 250 mm if automatic) and torsion springs are located above the opening. If the ceiling is small - only 100 mm, then only low installation is possible. In this case, torsion springs with a shaft are located deep in the building.

With a ceiling height of 70 cm or more, high installation is carried out. On the one hand, this is convenient, since the gate, when open, will not hang over your head, but will be located much higher - right under the ceiling. But in cases where the ceilings are too high, long hangers will be needed, and from an aesthetic point of view, the structure will not look very attractive.

The best option, of course, is standard, since not all companies produce gate kits for low and high mounting, which means you will have to pay extra.

Possible options

If the jumper between the ceiling and the upper part of the gate opening is too small, then it can be increased, but only if the height of the opening allows it. The opening is made lower, installing additional beam or metal profile.

If there is no lintel at all, it can be increased using metal corners or profiles, resulting in a false panel of the required height.

Attention to detail

It is very important that when installing the gate, do not use any non-original or even used parts - this is a safety hazard! And even new fittings, but from different manufacturers, must be selected taking into account its compatibility.

To ensure that all fasteners securely hold a fairly heavy structure, only metal spacers are used - neither polyurethane foam nor wooden wedges are acceptable.

Electric drive is comfort!

The presence of an electric drive increases the operating comfort of sectional doors, although they open manually without special effort, but automation allows you to control the process remotely without even leaving the car, which you will especially appreciate in winter or in bad weather. The standard range of the remote control is 30 m. The automatic drive also functions as a lock, preventing unauthorized opening of the gate. Do not be afraid to install automation, even in the event of possible power outages.

If there is no electricity, the gate can be opened and closed manually using the unlocking mechanism. This is done either directly from the room, or a special release is installed outside, with which you can switch the gate movement control to manual mode; naturally, the system is protected from unauthorized access.

Direct installation

So, let's get back to the installation work. After the opening is prepared, the frame is assembled, it is installed in its place, fixed, vertical and horizontal guides are mounted, hangers are attached, cables are tensioned, then sections of the door leaf are installed, the spring mechanism is adjusted and the electric drive is installed.

To check the quality of installation, you need to pay attention to the tight fit of the sectional door leaf around the entire perimeter of the opening - there should be no gaps, including at the very bottom. Having lowered the gate, turn off the light and see if there are any gaps somewhere - between the sections or in some other places, if not, then everything was done correctly. And, of course, you need to open and close the gate several times - the process should proceed smoothly without sudden jerks, jumps, and especially not be accompanied by any sounds: grinding or squeaking.

The mechanism here may not be very complex, but the canvas is quite heavy (from 100 to 300 kg) and if installed incorrectly, trouble-free operation of the entire system cannot be guaranteed, so entrust the installation to specialists. Our company’s employees will carry out installation quickly, efficiently, with a guarantee and in the shortest possible time. Call, our managers will answer all your questions, leave a request for installation work.

Installation of sectional doors

Installing sectional doors will allow your garage to acquire a number of important advantages:

    Burglary resistance. The design will reliably protect the premises from intruders.

    High level thermal insulation. The garage will be maintained comfortable temperature. Thermal insulation properties are comparable to those of a 600 mm thick brick wall. The gate will not become covered with frost and freeze.

    Ease of use and functionality. Managing the system is easy and simple. Gates equipped with automation open and close using remote controls.

    The canvas is securely fixed using a chain or electromechanical devices. None additional accessories not required. In winter you won't have to clear snow. The gate opens vertically upward. If necessary, you can install a model with a gate, mortise windows, photocells and an alarm system.

    Aesthetic appearance. Choose the product that best matches the color.

Sectional door design

The above advantages are determined by the design features of sectional doors.

Image No. 1: diagram of a typical sectional door (standard lift)

The canvas is balanced and moves up/down using spring mechanisms. To fix the sash in the open state, there are guides that are attached to the ceiling. To reduce resistance, sandwich panels are equipped with rollers. They provide smooth and silent movement.

Spring mechanisms reduce the weight of the canvas. This explains the fact that the flap can be easily opened manually or using a low-power electric drive. The design of sectional doors includes fall protection. If the cable breaks, the web will be blocked by the ratchet couplings.

Automatic sectional doors have a more complex design.

Image No. 2: diagram of automatic sectional doors (standard lift)

Manufacturers complement their products with drives with control units, automatic locking mechanisms, warning lights and sensors. During a power outage, the gate can be opened and closed manually. A special key unlocks the security mechanism.

If desired, manual or automatic sectional doors can be equipped with wickets and windows. Manufacturers offer a wide range of modifications.

Image No. 3: one of the possible modifications of sectional doors with windows and a wicket

Important! Please note that the presence of additional structures will increase the cost of the product by 35–40%.

Features of sandwich panel production

The sandwich panel consists of two galvanized steel sheets. Insulation (foamed polyurethane) is placed between them. On the outside, protective and decorative coatings are applied to the sheets.

Image No. 4: sandwich panel design

To increase the level of thermal insulation, almost all manufacturers produce special elastic plugs. During installation, they are placed between the sash elements to ensure there are no gaps.

Threshold (lower) panels are equipped with elastic seals. They are resistant to temperature changes and prevent the gate from freezing to the floor in winter.

Important! Manufacturers produce sandwich panels of various thicknesses. 45 mm - perfect option for regions with harsh climates. Such panels are intended for arranging gates of heated buildings.

Sections with a thickness of 40 mm or less are suitable for use in “cold” rooms in regions with a temperate climate.

Installation of sectional garage doors

Garage door installation can be done different ways. The choice of design location depends on the characteristics of the room. There are 4 types of installation of sectional doors.

Image No. 5: types of installation of sectional doors

    Vertical lift. This method of installing the canvas is ideal for high rooms. The gate will take up a minimal part of the space.

    High rise. This option will cost more. The method is used in cases where the ceiling height is not enough for vertical installation canvases. The cost of installing sectional doors increases due to the need to use horizontal guides, hanging brackets and more consumables.

    Standard lift. This installation option is most common because many garages have low ceilings. The installation cost is practically no different from the previous option.

    Low rise. This method is relevant for rooms with very low ceilings or in cases where it is necessary to clear the entire doorway from the canvas.

Once you have chosen the best implementation option, pay attention to the manufacturers. The modern market is filled with products from various companies. We hear about Hormann, DoorHan and Alutech.

Important! If the dimensions and characteristics of the opening and garage meet the requirements for installation of one of the sectional door models produced by the selected manufacturer, you are in luck. You can make a purchase. Otherwise (this is the majority), you will have to order gates made according to an individual project.

Preparatory work before purchasing and installing sectional doors

Measurements

Before purchasing sectional doors, please necessary measurements according to the following scheme.

Image No. 6: diagram of measurements required for the purchase and installation of sectional doors

    Measure the H value. Please note that the resulting value will only determine the height of the canvas, and not the entire structure as a whole.

    Measure the ceiling (h). The installation method will directly depend on its height. The minimum h value for installing sectional doors using the standard method is 30 cm. If the lintel height is less, you will have to order a design with a low rise.

    Determine the width of the opening (B). Increase the resulting value by 4 cm (2 on each side).

    If the width of the door will be as close as possible to the width of the garage, make sure that the dimensions of the technical gaps b1 and b2 meet the requirements. Minimum - 8 cm.

    Measure the depth L. If you plan to install manual sectional doors, then the minimum value L should be 50 cm greater than the opening height. Installation of automatic structures requires an increased depth (H+100 cm).

After taking measurements, order suitable sectional doors. It will take several weeks to make them. During this time you will have time to prepare the opening for installation.

Preparing the opening

    Plaster the ceiling and walls (if this has not been done previously). After installing sectional doors, you will not be able to access closed areas without dismantling the structure.

    Make sure that the vertical and horizontal positions in the opening are strictly observed, and the corners are in the same plane.

    Finish the ceiling and walls with a 75mm metal corner.

    Check the level of the floor. The maximum permissible error is -1 mm. This is necessary to ensure that the lower section of the gate fits as tightly and evenly as possible to the floor.

After completing the preparation of the opening, make sure you have the necessary tools.

Note! If you are not confident in your abilities, order measurements and preparation of the opening from professionals. Even the slightest errors lead to distortions. If the sectional leaf twists even a little, the service life of the sash and mechanisms will be significantly reduced. You will either have to reinstall the gate or frequently repair the structure.

Installation tools

When installing automatic sectional garage doors, you cannot do without:

    drills with a hammer drill;

    screwdriver;

    a set of drills for metal and concrete;

  • riveting tool;

    two mounting gates (0.5 m);

  • stepladders;

  • pencil for marking;

    side cutters;

    pliers;

    construction knife;

    a set of wrenches;

    universal and terminal screwdrivers.

To ensure safety, you will need gloves (regular and rubber), helmets and safety glasses. The recommended number of installers is 3 people.

Sectional door assembly

Assembling sectional doors requires a responsible approach and strict adherence to all provisions of the instructions provided by the manufacturer. This will allow you to get a stably working structure that will last the required period.

The installation process of sectional doors is divided into several stages.

1. Assembly and installation of the supporting frame

The supporting frame of sectional doors consists of:

    support posts with sealing inserts and vertical guides (1);

    radius profiles (2);

    horizontal guides (3);

    rear jumper (4);

    side brackets (5).

Image No. 7: diagram of the supporting frame

Install all elements as specified in the sectional door installation instructions from the manufacturer.

2. Installation of the shaft with springs

Image No. 8: Shaft mounting diagram

    Assemble the right and left parts of the shaft and secure them according to the instructions.

    Install the snap rings against the inner races of the side bracket bearings and secure them by tightening the screws.

    Lock the ratchet clutches using special pins.

Note! Remove the locking pins only after completing the gate assembly.

3. Assembling the door leaf

Image No. 9: canvas assembly diagram

Install the bottom section. Place the panel and check horizontality using a level. After this, connect the section to the lifting mechanism.

Install the remaining sections according to their sequential numbering. Carefully follow the dimensions and recommendations, as even the slightest deviations lead to distortions.

Note! To correct defects, do not use foam or planks. Only iron spacers will do.

After assembling the leaf, install the upper brackets and make sure that the sash fits snugly against the opening lintel.

4. Adjustment

Adjust the tension of the cable and springs according to the instructions.

Important! During the adjustment process, be careful and use a tensioning tool of the specified size.

Check the gate balancing. To do this, raise the canvas to half the height of the opening. The sash should be held in this position. If the blade lowers or rises, increase or decrease the spring tension by 1-2 turns and repeat the test.

5. Attaching additional elements

Secure locks, hinges, handles and latches in the right places. Attach the spring stops according to the instructions.

Perform a final balancing check to ensure there are no gaps.

6. Installation of automation

A typical layout of automation elements looks like this:

Standard automation consists of:

    electric drive (1);

    control unit (2);

    distribution box (3);

    microswitches for spring breakage (4);

    cable break microswitches (5);

    wicket sensor (6, if equipped);

    optosensor emitter (7);

    optosensor receiver (8).

Install the main and protective elements according to the instructions. After completing the installation work, check the functionality of the automation in all programmed modes.

    Installing garage doors yourself requires knowledge and experience. Often, due to errors made during the installation process, structures fail almost immediately.

    If you are not confident in your abilities, saving on the cost of installing sectional doors will not lead to anything good. Contact a reliable construction company in Moscow. Professional specialists will do everything much faster and provide a guarantee for the work performed.

    Carefully follow all instructions in the instructions. Even small mistakes can lead to the gate being skewed and the structure failing.

    Work areas must be free of pipes and electrical wiring.

When choosing sectional doors, pay attention to parameters such as thermal insulation properties, strength and durability.

Due to their high resistance to burglary, they have gained wide popularity and are installed in almost all garages these days, industrial buildings, service centers and many other buildings. The design features of such gates attract attention with their appearance In addition, they have high technical characteristics and very easy to use. Except protective functions, the gates also perfectly seal the premises.

Design features of sectional doors

Gate design and design features. Various additional mechanisms and auxiliary electronic systems.

Typically, sectional garage doors consist of a spring mechanism, several guide modules and a system that balances the door leaf itself. In addition, the sectional canvas can be equipped with a special mechanism with electronically controlled programmed for manual or automatic control opening or closing, commands for which are given using the remote control.

It is best to install sectional units in rooms with limited space usable area. Thanks to design features Such gates allow you to save a large amount of usable space. The panels that make up sectional doors can be selected in any color; it is also possible to order panels individually various colors or with one image or another.

Features of production technology and materials used

Special coatings for corrosion protection, temperature regime operation, equipment with sandwich panels and safety

The production process of garage door panels involves treating them with a special coating of polymer materials, which provides durable protection against corrosion and significantly increases service life. If necessary, a window with special acrylic glazing is mounted into the canvas. The minimum temperature for uninterrupted operation is -50 degrees, and the maximum reaches +70 (Celsius).

The safety of overhead sectional doors is ensured by a special shutter system that allows them to be automatically blocked after closing.

Guarantees: with proper, careful operation and preventive maintenance, such structures last at least 10 years without replacing components and components.

Preparing for self-installation of gates

Correct opening measurements, tools used during installation and means personal protection.

After you have purchased overhead sectional doors you need to take care of their high-quality installation. It is best, of course, to invite competent and qualified specialists, but if you decide to carry out the installation yourself, then you should stock up on a certain amount of knowledge and the necessary tools.

Tools that will be needed when installing sectional doors:

  • control and measuring instruments and tools (tape measure, level);
  • hammer drill with a set of different drills;
  • auxiliary tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, hammer, pliers);
  • personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles and head helmet).

The key to quality installation is accurate and correct measurements.

By making correct and accurate measurements, you can avoid large quantity problems and troubles that may arise during subsequent installation

Important: when taking measurements, be sure to check the height of the opening at several points - this will eliminate the possibility of errors in dimensions. If the width or height of the opening in different places has a significant difference, then you should always focus on maximum size. Gates are installed from the inside of the premises, and compliance with this rule will primarily help preserve heat. It is also very important that the walls of the opening on both sides are parallel to each other (located in the same plane).

Next, it is very important to determine the distance between the lintel and the ceiling (lintel height) - this will help you decide what type of gate to purchase. Ideally, the ceiling height should be about 200 - 220 mm. After all accurate measurements have been made, you can purchase sectional garage doors with optimal size or order their individual production.

Having certain knowledge and reading the necessary literature, you can purchase high-quality components and parts and design overhead sectional doors according to your own design.

Preparing the connector for installing sectional garage doors

Properly carried out work on preparing the opening significantly improves the quality and increases the service life of overhead sectional doors.

By properly preparing the opening, you will be confident that the structure will cost no repairs and will serve well for many years.

On initial stage you will need to clear the opening from the cladding layer, and then strengthen it metal frame. For ease of installation and smooth operation, you will need to create free space around the opening:

  • on the sides from 45 to 60 cm;
  • from the top edge of the opening to the ceiling 30 - 45 cm.

According to the instructions from the manufacturer, after preparing the opening, you can transfer the installation diagram to the opening itself.

Important: the main condition for high-quality installation of gates is the accuracy of determining the vertical of the opening.

Sectional garage doors are very sensitive to even slight distortions and if this condition is not met, you will need frequent repairs, replacement of power units and moving mechanisms.

In order to avoid this, it is necessary to mark as accurately as possible the places where the vertical and horizontal profiles are attached, which will fix and direct the movement of the panels. By using measuring instruments and level, you need to very carefully prepare the place for fastening load-bearing elements the entire structure.

We begin the installation process of overhead sectional doors

It is important to note that during installation it is not allowed to align the gate using polyurethane foam or wooden pegs - you need to prepare special metal gaskets, with the help of which you can tightly fix all the parts.

During installation work, you must strictly follow the instructions and take into account technical features gate from one manufacturer or another.

Work order:

  • self-installation of sectional doors should begin with securing the lower lamella, after which all load-bearing parts are attached in accordance with the sequence specified in the instructions, and at the final stage the door leaf is assembled;
  • after all sections are secured, you should check the sash located in the upper part for a tight fit and adjust all the brackets;
  • on next stage all mechanisms that control the gate are installed and secured, various bolts, handles and locks are also installed;
  • at the final stage you need to tighten the cables and balance the springs;
  • fix the electric drive in a certain place and install a limiter that will determine the movement of the web.
