The mood of the tenants depends on what kind of living space is. One of the most popular design options for interior and exterior walls is painting. The choice of paint colors expands the possibilities design solutions creating an individual interior. What to do if there is no product of the required shade on the market? Then a color scheme is used - with it it is easy to get paint of the required color, saturation.

What is paint color

The word "color" is translated from the Latin "color" as a color or tone. In the chemical industry, color is a special highly concentrated pigment composition, with which you can get almost any shade of paint. Moreover, not only water-based, but also facade, oil, acrylic products can act as a basis. Depending on the concentration of such a pigment composition in the paint, both saturated and bright colors, and muted, pastel shades.

The use of color helps property owners to translate into reality almost any design ideas... The process of mixing and diluting a paint and varnish material with a pigment is called tinting. Its use is suitable not only for performing finishing works inside the object, but also outside it. With the help of a special pigment solution, you can get unique shades, for example, you can give the paint a copper, pearlescent, bronze, golden hue.

Kohler can be used on concrete, brick, plastered walls. Compositions with its use can also be processed on other surfaces: plasterboard, wood, fiberboard, chipboard. The use of tinting is necessary in the following cases:

  • the initial layer has small defects;
  • you need to choose a shade in accordance with color scheme interior;
  • it is required to decorate the interior using several shades of one or more colors;
  • it is necessary to correct errors that have arisen when calculating the volume of paint or the absence of a color previously used.

Kinds

When planning to buy a color scheme for paint on water based, acrylic or any other, check out the types of these products. You can order it in a specialized online store with mail delivery. In terms of the range of applications, it can be universal, i.e. combined with any paints and varnishes, and highly specialized. Colorants are produced in the form of paint, dry composition, paste. The latter option is more convenient to use, but there is a possibility that the intensity finished paint will turn out to be uneven. According to the composition, color is distinguished:

  • With organic pigments. Products of this type are distinguished by a richer range of colors, but obtained on its basis paints and varnishes over time, they lose their brightness, saturation due to exposure to sunlight. For this reason, formulations with organic pigments are not considered the best choice for facade paints.
  • With inorganic pigments. Such products are more resistant to aggressive external factors, including burnout. True, such a color scheme for paint cannot boast of a wide range of shades.

The paint can be tinted manually or by computer. Thanks to the first option, you can save a significant amount of money and perform the procedure directly at the repair site. There is also a drawback: it is almost impossible to reproduce exactly the same tone again. The second type of tinting is controlled by a special program. The operator only needs to choose the color of the color scheme, and the program itself will determine the proportions, after which it will give out the finished composition.

Having decided to dilute the pigment yourself, consider the technique:

  • Decide on the required amount of color scheme. It is better to buy more initially than to look for identical products later.
  • It is recommended to select a color for painting surfaces with the manufacture of a probe. To do this, fill a small container with 100 mg of white paint and add a few drops of pigment to it. Get the desired shade by mixing.
  • Check how the resulting composition looks on the wall or other surface to be painted. Not always color ready solution matches the shade of the paint and varnish applied to the wall. The result should be considered under the prevailing lighting in the room (artificial or natural), after the composition has dried.
  • If you know how many drops you had to add to get the desired color, then by recalculating the consumption of the composition per liter of paint, you can dilute and get required amount color scheme.
  • You need to add the pigment composition to the paint and varnish material in a thin stream. At the same time, do not forget to mix everything thoroughly to get a concentrated composition with a uniform color.

How to choose a color scheme for paint

To begin with, depending on your goals, choose between organic and non-organic products, taking into account the characteristics of each option. Then decide on the state of the color: liquid composition, paste or loose pigment:

  1. The composition of the first option contains the same components as in the paint and varnish material (LMC): if you are going to use water-based paint, then the color composition should be the same.
  2. Loose pigment is inexpensive but has a limited palette.
  3. Most convenient option- color paste.

Choose a suitable color:

  • You can choose a shade using the catalog - it is in every specialized store. Note that the hue looks different depending on the lighting.
  • If the room where you want to paint the walls is light, then give preference to synthetic pigment. Under artificial lighting, colors look great, which contain organic substances.
  • The color scheme of the surface should be in harmony with the background flooring, furniture. If the floor is made in a green-blue shade, then it is better to decorate the walls in a golden or yellowish tone. With a brown coating floor surface it is better to make the color for the walls beige.
  • The range of wall coverings can be rich and bright: it is known that juicy shades can cheer you up. These include juicy green, golden, brown or ocher tones. Note that blues appear more faded in evening lighting than in daylight.

Probably everyone wants to achieve some bright and saturated colors of paints, and sometimes it is necessary to give a certain shade of paintwork. For such purposes, a color scheme for paint is used. Today I will tell you how to do tinting with your own hands and at home. Indeed, often we need to achieve a color that you simply cannot buy in a store, since it consists of several tones. The most interesting thing is that the color scheme can be used not only for diluting paint, but also as ready mix for painting small surfaces. And today we will consider all sides of this material.

Colors for paint

Varieties of pigments

Color for paint

I must say that now it is very easy to choose the necessary color for your type of paint. Manufacturers present a wide range of pigment compositions that you can use yourself. By the way, color can be added not only to paintwork materials, but also plaster or putty, thereby giving it the necessary colors.

Important! When choosing the necessary pigment in the store, consider what kind of lighting will be in the room. The fact is that painted surfaces can have a different shade. Artificial lighting will make cold colors muted and dark, but on the contrary, warm ones will brighten.

Table of mixing proportions of paint and varnish and color:

When mixing color and paintwork materials, do not overdo it. While this can produce richer colors, it can simply reduce the quality and properties of the paint.

If we talk about GOST, then the color scheme is:

  1. Organic - the advantage of such is the presence of a bright and saturated color. However, these formulations are very unstable to alkali attack.
  2. Inorganic - they have little color variety, but they are fairly lightfast

Material classification

Add color to the paint

In order to understand which colors are suitable for certain types of paint, I decided to draw up a small but understandable table:

Important! It is the water-based paint that is most popular for use in private houses and apartments. That is why one of the most popular colors can be safely called a color scheme for water-based paints.

Consider some factors if you want to get the colors of water-based paints you need:

  • Calculate immediately how much colourant you need
  • Immediately look through the catalogs of the manufacturer, they indicate the color of the material and ready-made shades
  • If you have a desire to mix several shades and get some kind of complex color, then be sure to use the mixing tables.
  • Trying out new shades and colors, do not immediately mix the paint with buckets, try mixing a small amount of material and look at the result. After that, you can safely knead a whole bucket of paintwork materials
  • After stirring a small amount of the color you want, apply it to the surface and wait for the paint to dry. After that, look at the result
  • A special drill attachment will help you mix the entire mixture with high quality to the desired consistency. Only a good mix can achieve the desired result
  • Do not forget to stir again before applying on the surface of the mixture.

Important! Although it is not difficult to mix paint with color, you can use this service at a hardware store. The point is that many specialty stores have special automated machines that allow you to mix paint to the shade you want. In this case, you will not have to worry about the resulting color.

The price of such a composition is slightly higher than the paint mixed with your own hands - this should be taken into account when predicting your costs for color and paintwork.

DIY tinting

Add red color

The mixing technology is very simple and does not require any special skills. A beginner who does not have any experience in painting surfaces will quite cope with this task. Do-it-yourself paint tinting is performed when there is a desire to paint a room in several different colors... Do not forget that the colors must be compatible with each other.

The sadness of this process is that you will not be able to mix the same shade twice in a row, so immediately calculate how much mixture you need for coloring. The sequence of the process is very simple, we take the color and add it to the white paintwork and mix. However, keep in mind some details:

  1. Use only one mixing container - there is a possibility that different containers and colors will turn out different
  2. Keep track of the percentage of materials - if you overdo it with the color scheme, you can lose the desired qualities, and if you add less than the prescribed amount, you will not achieve the desired shade
  3. Calculate the amount of material used - you won't be able to get the same color twice
  4. Do not forget to do a test batch with a small amount of paint - by mixing the whole mixture at once, you can spoil the material without achieving the desired color solution
  5. Take your time to mix and apply the solution - the well-known proverb works even in this case.

By the way, if you have a certain amount of color left, and you no longer need to use it, then do not rush to throw the material away. Take a container with a color scheme and add a small amount of water there, but do not mix or shake the container. After this trick, you can store the color scheme for up to five years. To obtain the most intense shade, mix the pigmented mixture and paint before applying to the walls - this can happen a couple of hours before painting.

When you mix the color you need in advance, that is, more than 3-4 hours before the start of painting, then there is a very high probability that the color will settle a little and therefore the result of the shade will not be as saturated as initially.

Outcomes

Do not worry at all before starting tinting the materials you need. If you are not sure what you can do the first time desired color, then by recording proportions and actions, you can experiment in small containers. For those who do not want to waste their time, there are automated machines that are able to mix the shade you need. Consider all the nuances when using the color scheme, and then you will get the shade you need.

Despite the huge selection of different shades of paint that manufacturers currently offer, the picky consumer does not always manage to find what is needed. In this case, you can create the desired shade for yourself on your own and enjoy the selected color.

Let's first understand the concept of tinting and color scheme. The concept of "color" in different areas has several meanings. The so-called "popular" meaning of this term means specific color or a shade, and experts call a composition that is ready for use as a color scheme.

Tinting is a process where paint is mixed or thinned, the purpose of this process is to achieve the desired shade of color.

Tinting can be done by hand or, there is a doubt about own forces, you can order a ready-made tinting from a company that specializes in this.

In what cases is it necessary to perform tinting? It is performed if:

  1. It is necessary to select a shade in accordance with the design of the apartment.
  2. A small piece of the painted surface has become unusable, and there is no point in repainting the entire surface.
  3. During the repair, you made a mistake with the calculations of the required amount of paint, and now you cannot find the shade you need on sale.
  4. Choose shades that will blend in.

Due to tinting, small redecorating will be a successful replacement for the front of the intricate painting work.

Currently, there are several types of tinting.

Computer tinting of paint

Let's start with computer tinting. This is a variant of our present day. What is it? You choose the shade that you need, and using a specially created program, you can easily calculate the amount of paint and dye that you need. With the computer method, you are not limited in the amount of paint. This method is unique.

It has the following advantages:

  • the tinting produced will be accurate and fast;
  • you can tint any kind of paint.

Manual tinting

There is also traditional hand tinting. Of course, this method will not give you as clear results as a computer one. For manual tinting, you purchase white paint and tinting paste. The more you add tinting paste, the more intense the resulting shade will be.

Have manual way has its advantages:

  • tinting can be done independently;
  • it is convenient and profitable economically.

But with manual tinting, you will not achieve dark saturated colors. And also, if you need additional paint of a similar shade, then you are unlikely to be able to exactly repeat your result.

Pay attention to the lighting in your apartment - it will certainly have an impact on the shade you choose. So, if the lighting is artificial, then any shade that you choose will have a yellowish tint. Daylight will give a more realistic picture. All items of your interior will be reflected in a tinted color.

Cool colors in artificial light will appear one shade darker. It's green, blue. And orange and yellow, on the contrary, will seem lighter to you. If your interior contains some bright objects (furniture, textiles), then the selected monotonous colors will fade against their background and will be lost.

Please also note that paint applied to a small section and on large area, will seem to you different in shade. Especially if you start applying it vertically. Based on all this, before you settle on any shade, consider all the features of your room.

There is in the "painting" world such a thing as tinting systems. This is the use of base paint and color scheme. Color schemes are deep or opposite colors. The pigments that make up them are organic or inorganic. Organic pigments are generally used for richer hues.

But these pigments have the following disadvantages:

  • not every surface can be coated with this composition;
  • paint with such pigments is short-lived; under the sun's rays it will fade over time.

Colors with inorganic pigments have a limited range of colors, but they are not afraid of the influence of atmospheric phenomena.

Colorants are produced in different versions:

  • pastes,
  • paints,
  • dry mixes.

The composition of the paste includes dispersing resins, it is also possible this type of paste, where the substance used for bonding is absent.

Pastes are different types- there are generalists that are suitable for any paint, and there are specialized pastes designed for specific paint materials. Pastes are convenient to use, when mixing you can easily adjust the desired shade. But they have disadvantages: pastes have no uniform properties of color and saturation. The final shade may surprise you.

The composition of the color paint does not differ from the paints and varnishes for which they are used:

  • water emulsion,
  • acrylic,
  • oil
  • others.
By combining white paint and pigments, you get the color you need. If you need a very bright and rich color, then the existing colorant does not need to be diluted.

The advantage of dry formulations is their low price. But the color range of such pigments is very narrow, and the correction of the desired shade is very difficult, since such pigments should not be added to a dye mixture already ready for use.

What you need for this process is a container of the mixture, a drill with a nozzle, a small reservoir for placing a sample portion, white base paint, color scheme.

Tinting steps:

  1. Preparing a test portion. Before making a large volume of the mixture, take a small sample per sample. Otherwise, you just might mess up all your stuff. Pour a little paint (100 ml) and a few drops of the dye mixture into our small reservoir. When you get the shade you want, remember how many drops you added.
  2. Experimental tests on work surface... As we mentioned, the color on the surface may be different from the color of your mixture. Therefore, we take our trial dose and try it on a small area of the working surface. We are waiting for drying and see what happened. Keep in mind that different lighting will give different shades.
  3. Making the bulk of the material. If what came out in the trial version and on the working surface completely satisfied you, then you can proceed to the main volume. How to calculate the right amount color scheme? Subtract 20% from the received doses of the trial version. That is, if you added 7 drops of one color and 2 of the second to the sample, then for a liter of paint you will need not 70 and 20 drops, but 56 and 16 drops. When the mixture is evenly mixed, retest on the surface. Don't forget about different lighting.

The main thing is not to rush when tinting. Take your time to achieve the desired result. Otherwise, you risk ruining all your existing materials, or achieving a color that does not suit you. Please note that it is better to prepare more paint volume than necessary.

If the paint is not enough for you, choosing exactly such a shade is a very difficult task. And, most likely, the shades in different containers will be different. The remaining amount will come in handy in the long run when it comes time for corrective repairs. Pour the excess into a jar and close the lid tightly.

You need to tint large paint in one container, otherwise, if you need to repeat the shade, you will have difficulty calculating the required volume. When you are faced with a choice of colors, it is better to choose one contained in bottles with a narrow neck - it is more convenient to calculate the number of drops this way. If you chose another, you can use a syringe for these purposes.

In order to choose the desired color and the amount of the required color scheme, you can use a special table for mixing colors.

To ensure that the resulting material is evenly mixed, attachments of various sizes can be attached to the drill.

It is better to choose paint and color from the same company, this guarantees achievement maximum result when mixing. As a rule, information about the color is attached to the color scheme. the required volume the main paint.

When painting an apartment, study the range of colors in advance. It is known that some colors have a calming effect on a person, while others, on the contrary, cause irritation and aggression.

materials on the topic

Drawing is a very exciting and at the same time useful activity for children. different ages, it allows you to develop the fine motor skills of their pens, imaginative thinking, children's imagination and imagination. The paint and varnish industry produces paints, with their help children can engage in creativity, which over time can develop into a profession.

At first glance, tinting water-based paint on your own seems to be an easy process. But, in order to choose the necessary shade, some subtleties must be taken into account. There are ready-made paints and varnishes on sale that do not always meet the main task - it is harmony with the interior. Self-tinting will help to organically fit the coloring matter into the already existing environment. To do this, you must choose the right color for the water-based paint. But why is this not easy to do?

Subtleties of choice

There is a wide range of colors on the market that are suitable for many types of dyes. Dyes for paintwork materials can be used independently. Some of the pigment compositions are universal, because they are used not only for paint, but also for plaster and putty mixture.

When choosing a color, it must be remembered that in a jar or bottle, the color looks brighter than after drying.

The range of pigmenting substances presented on construction market big. They are classified according to their purpose:

  • liquid color and pigment paste, used for primers, various impregnations, as well as varnishes applied to wood and other lumber;
  • liquid concentrates intended for water-based emulsions and dispersed paints;
  • pastes, used for oil, alkyd enamels and most of the various whitewash mixtures.
  • universal coloring pastes for polyurethane, nitrocellulose, epoxy enamels;
  • color scheme with metallic luster or mother-of-pearl - this class has a wide range different compositions, which can be selected for any option suitable for most modern paints and varnishes.

Mixing ratio

As you can see, pigment additives have different purposes and are presented in the form of colorants or pastes. The composition of the color does not contain binders; instead, dispersing resins are used, which increase the solubility and reduce the viscosity of the paste. Base paints are mixed with pigment substances in the following proportions:

  • for water-based emulsion - no more than 20%;
  • for oil - 1.5 or 2%;
  • for other compositions no more than 5%.

This amount is sufficient to optimally impart richness without harming the treated coating. There are two types of pigments: organic and inorganic.

The first option has a rich and bright hue. But, prepared compositions on such a basis differ in insignificant lightfastness, a low level of resistance to the effects of alkalis, which are released from mineral plaster. These include carbon black, manganese, ocher, as well as umber and lapis lazuli.

The second option has high lightfastness, but the choice of color collections is limited - these are lutein, rhodopsin and carotene.

If tinting pastes and other pigments have a high percentage of saturation, then this will limit their addition and mixing with water-based paint. Do not forget that a high concentration of the pigmenting substance reduces the properties of the coloring material itself.

The color of water-based paint is combined with the paintwork itself immediately before applying to the required surface so that the pigment does not settle to the bottom. Ready remedy used both inside the building and outside. Concrete, wood, brick and putty surfaces are painted.

Benefits of using

The main positive quality tinting is the fact that using it you can achieve the desired shade. V finished form the color gamut is limited and difficult to find suitable option... The pluses also include:

  • affordable price;
  • use it yourself without involving masters;
  • there is no need to use special equipment;
  • does not lose his original color when exposed to direct UV rays;
  • good mixing with water-based paint.

After applying on various coatings the base is smooth.

Coloring features

The most popular type is the color of water-based paint. This is due to the widespread use of this type of dye when performing repairs both in a city apartment and in a country house.

The shades that can be made for water-based paint are very varied. This helps to use them in the right combination and achieve absolutely any shade. Specialized types of colors can be used to pigment the following types of paints:

  • latex;
  • glue;
  • water-dispersive.

If on the counter hardware store there will be a package bearing the inscription "pigment for acrylic" there is no doubt that it is suitable for all of the above categories of paints and varnishes.

It is important to remember that the color of the water-based paint has an average consumption of 20% of the volume of the base substance.

Colorant preparation

To give water-based paintwork the desired shade, you should adhere to some tips:

  • accurately calculate the required amount of tinting agent for a given volume of paint;
  • when buying a color scheme, one should be guided by the provided catalog from the manufacturer to see what shade the final result will be;
  • if you plan to create a complex tint collection, you need to use special tables, which show the final result of mixing paint with different shades;
  • using an unfamiliar pigment, it is not necessary to mix the entire volume of paintwork materials at once, first you need to try it in a small container (the dishes should preferably be white);
  • if the shade of the already dried paint does not satisfy, you will have to change the proportion of the dye;
  • after a suitable shade has been chosen, it will be possible to knead the entire bucket;
  • it is necessary to mix the pigment with the base material very carefully, because the final result of the painting work depends on it;
  • stir the substance, to obtain an optimal consistency, you can use a drill with adjustable speed and a nozzle for mixing plaster;
  • set the speed to a minimum so that the paint does not fly in different directions;
  • if it nevertheless splashes, switch the regulation to the "reverse" mode;
  • Stir thoroughly again immediately before applying the paint to the surface.

Pigmented paintwork in the store

As noted, it is not so difficult to colorize yourself if you follow all the recommendations. But, there is a simpler and more qualitative method - this is a computer selection of a pigment for a water-based paint.

Large construction supermarkets have departments where tinting is performed using professional equipment... A container with a base (usually white) is placed in a special machine. A program is set with the introduction of information about which shade is selected. The dispenser pours the appropriate pigment or a combination of several colorants into the bucket.

The bucket with paint and additional tint components is hermetically sealed and installed on a platform that constantly vibrates. Because of this, the mixture is well mixed, a homogeneous consistency is obtained.

The price of a specialized tinting process will be significantly higher than doing it yourself. But, with automatic mixing, the result will surpass all expectations.

Whatever the wide choice colors paint in the store, sometimes it is not enough. In this case, tinting will come to the rescue - mixing a light base paint and a colored pigment. This allows you to get a wide variety of colors and shades.

Types of tinting

Now it is possible to carry out computerized tinting of paint. You just need to choose the desired shade, and the equipment for tinting paint will accurately calculate all the proportions for the mixture.

The big advantage of this method is the ability to repeat the result if necessary. Mixing paint by hand is unlikely to achieve the same color. But self-tinting makes it possible to assess how the paint will look directly in the room and, if necessary, make adjustments.

Shade selection

When choosing the desired shade of paint, a whole group of factors should be taken into account. The paint can look very different from the first test strokes and when the entire surface of the walls is already painted.

Also, the perception of color is significantly influenced by lighting. Too much bright light able to visually discolor bright colors. At dusk or low light, they will appear dimmer and darker. Warm or cold light lamps can give the paint, respectively, yellowness or blueness.

When choosing the desired color from the ink tinting spreadsheet, it is important to remember that monitors, even with good resolution and color display, will not be able to 100% accurately reproduce real shade paints.

When choosing a wall color for a living space, it is better to give preference to softer and more calm shades. The kitchen and hallway can be painted in brighter and more saturated colors.

DIY tinting

If the tinting of paint is done by hand, then it is better to do it in the room in which it will be used. This will help you achieve perfect suitable color precisely in the light conditions of the given room.

When tinting paint with your own hands, you should remember that no matter how hard you try to memorize the proportions, you will not be able to perfectly repeat the same color a second time, the differences will be noticeable to the naked eye. Therefore, the paint must be diluted in a large container so that it is enough for the whole room at once. It is better to add 5-10% in reserve to the paint consumption per 1 square meter indicated on the packaging.

Advice ! You can simplify the process of selecting the desired shade by downloading a program for tinting paints.

It is desirable that the white paint and color scheme are from the same company. Manufacturers may have significant differences in the paint production technology and its composition, so it is better not to risk it, otherwise you may get a coating not only of a strange color, but also with poor performance characteristics.

Important! Only paint specially designed for the surface should be used. Products for the ceiling, walls and floor have completely different indicators of soiling, wear resistance, etc.

As a rule, a paint tinting table is included with the color scheme, showing the possible proportions of color mixing.

Large manufacturers, for example, Tikkurila, offer customers whole catalogs of paint tinting, available in paper and electronic form.

To stir the paint, it is necessary to use a mixing attachment on a drill or perforator, because long and thorough manual mixing of the mixture will still not give a uniform result. The paint is mixed until a mass uniform in color and density is obtained.

The color of the paint in the container may differ slightly from what will be obtained when it is applied to the surface. To see how this shade will look on the wall, you should prepare a test mixture (trying to remember the exact ratio of the components), and then paint small area and wait until it dries at least a little. Although even if the proportions are observed, it will not be possible to get absolutely identical colors a second time, a test staining will still help to get a rough idea of the result. It should be remembered that as it dries, the color of the walls will become somewhat less bright and saturated.

If the resulting color is something you do not like, then you can change it by adding either a little more color, or, conversely, white paint. If water-based dyes have been used, the mixture can be diluted with water.

Advice ! If the color is in an inconvenient package, from which it is difficult to add it to the paint in a small amount, then it will be convenient to use a regular syringe.

Types of colors

In terms of composition, dyes can be organic or inorganic. The first type allows you to get brighter and more saturated shades, but over time, such a coating fading noticeably. Inorganic colors are presented in a much narrower spectrum of colors, but they are resistant to weathering and ultraviolet light.

Colors are available in the following form:

  • Pastes;
  • Dry mix;
  • Liquids.

Dry dyes have the most favorable price of all three types. Among their main drawbacks are the small selection of colors and the difficulty of accurately adjusting the hue. Before adding to the white base, the powder must be diluted in a liquid suitable for its type - water, drying oil, etc. and mix thoroughly.

Liquid dyes are the most convenient to use. They make it possible to change the hue of a color very efficiently. Choose colors in accordance with the type of paint in the room (water-based, acrylic, oil, etc.). If a certain area of the surface needs to be selected color accent, then the color can be used even undiluted.

Although color pastes are convenient to use, they themselves can have an uneven color. This can result in an unexpectedly light or dark shade when mixed. When using them, it is important to observe the proportions - the amount of paste for a certain volume of base paint should not exceed that specified in the instructions.

  • Both Russian and foreign manufacturers have a large selection of types and shades of colors. Domestic paints not only have a more favorable price, but also are not particularly inferior in quality, so it makes no sense to chase expensive foreign products.
  • It is recommended to use snow-white paint as a basis for tinting, and not just white paint. The latter often has a yellowish tint, which can greatly affect the tinting result.
  • Do not get carried away, and immediately pour half a bottle of dye into the base. Even a few drops of color can already noticeably change the color of the paint.
  • Colors can be used not only to obtain the desired shade of paint, but also be added, for example, to plaster.

note! Many people mistakenly call any mixing of paints of different colors as tinting.

However, there are two concepts for this action:

  • glaze - if two different colors are mixed to obtain a third (for example, yellow and blue to create green);
  • tinting - adding a colorant to a white paint.

Surface preparation

Before painting, it is important to clean the wall of dirt, traces of previous coating, mold, etc. If the surface is uneven, it is better to plaster and sand it. It is also important that the wall covering for painting is also white, because the dark background will be visible even after several layers of paint. For better adhesion (adhesion) of the dye to the surface, it is recommended to use a suitable this type paint primer.

Advice ! You should carefully read the instructions, recommendations for use and the proportions of the components indicated on the package.

This will allow you to avoid unpleasant surprises in the process of tinting wall paint and painting and get the desired shade without much difficulty. A video instruction will explain in detail how to make paint tinting without errors.
