DIY gazebo bench. A DIY table for a gazebo is an essential item. General rules for making a bench for a gazebo

You cannot do without furniture in a gazebo; the most common in this case are benches. If necessary, they can be taken outside or placed in the dressing room.

The photo shows a gazebo with garden furniture

You can replace such pieces of furniture, for example, with chairs, since gazebo chairs will be more compact.

Tools and materials

  • Bulgarian
  • Self-tapping screws
  • Wood.

Making different types of benches

In order to make a bench with your own hands, as shown in photo 1, you need to use a board, the width of which can be 15 or 20 cm, with a thickness of 10-15 mm. It is acceptable to use plywood or OSB. Self-tapping screws are suitable as fasteners, the length of which will be determined by the thickness of the material, so for a board whose thickness is 15 mm, self-tapping screws 35 mm long will be needed. The surface of the workpiece can be treated with sandpaper, the grain size of which is 180 and 100. The work can be done more comfortably if you use a grinder equipped with a grinding wheel.

1 - Dimensions wooden bench

To make a bench, you first need to prepare the parts according to the dimensions shown in photo 1. Afterwards they need to be sanded. If you have a milling cutter that allows you to roll a radius, you can use it to form a radius along the sides of the seat of the product and along the ends of the legs, this will make the bench more aesthetically pleasing.

All elements must be connected with self-tapping screws without creating holes for fasteners in the wood, which is true for softwood. The seat to the legs can be strengthened with 2 self-tapping screws, installing them on top; the same amount of fasteners should be used to attach the crossbars to the legs. Afterwards, you need to strengthen the seat to the crossbar with 2 screws. If you are interested in the question of how to make a bench not only durable, but also beautiful, after completing the mounting, you need to cover the product with paint or varnish using a brush.

If the gazebo is large, you can install a more massive bench in its space. The height of the product will be 50 cm, the length will be determined by the size of the boards that are available; in the example described, this figure will be 120 cm.

2 - Attaching the legs to the bench

In order to make a bench, you need to use 4 blanks, which will be used to make the legs. Their thickness is 4 cm, each length is 48 cm. Using 2 bars with dimensions of 15x20 mm, you need to connect 2 legs so that they, located at an angle of 90° relative to the seat, do not extend beyond its limits, as shown in photo 2. The boards should be fastened with self-tapping screws, the size of which should be 3.5x50 mm.

It is necessary to prepare a rail, the dimensions of which are 900x15x20 mm, with the help of which you can connect the legs. The bench for the gazebo will gain full rigidity if the structure is supplemented with side planks, which need to be strengthened at an angle. To do this, you will need to use slats with dimensions of 20x15 mm; the length can be arbitrary. The blanks must be placed on the sides of the finished product to mark their location. In the marked places, grooves should be formed, the depth of which will be equal to the parameters of the slats, and it is recommended to use a hacksaw or jigsaw.

Then use a hammer and chisel to knock out the grooves. Once the slats have been inserted into them, you can fasten the elements with self-tapping screws; alternatively, you can use nails. At this point we can assume that the bench is ready; you just need to correct the protruding elements with a jigsaw or hacksaw.

If you don’t want to varnish the bench, you can cover the seat with oilcloth, strengthening its edges with a stapler. This decorative option will allow you to make your own bench for the gazebo softer; for this, you can lay foam rubber under the oilcloth.

Visual instructions for making a bench with your own hands are presented in this video:

Making a sofa for a gazebo

If you want to install more comfortable pieces of furniture in the gazebo, a frame like the one in photo 3 can become the basis for a sofa. The sofa must be made of boards and beams. As a material for the manufacture of structures with my own hands for the gazebo you can use pine, from which you need to prepare a board of 15x2 cm, timber of 10x5 cm and 5x5 cm, as well as planks with dimensions of 4x2 cm.

The sofa will have a height of 510 mm, taking this into account, you will need blanks for the legs made of timber, the final dimensions are 100x50 mm. The legs should have dimensions equal to 550 mm and 620 mm. One workpiece must be larger, because the back should be strengthened to it. The legs should be connected to each other using the half-tree method.

3 - Sofa option for gazebo

The sofa will have a length of 130 cm; for a seat of this size it is recommended to use boards 30-40 mm thick. You also need to prepare 4 boards with dimensions of 130x15 cm, two of which will be needed for the seat, and the other two for the back. The bars with a cross-section of 5x5 cm will become supports for the seat, and they will also strengthen the legs. The legs must be placed in the grooves, installed on the surface and reinforced with a block. A strip with dimensions of 40x20 mm will allow you to connect legs with a length of 1030 mm. It is necessary to lay the board on top, measuring the distance between the legs at 1030 mm along the outer part, after which you can fasten it with screws.

Another board should be strengthened as a backrest to the beams. The leg beams will need to be reinforced with bolts. The sofa should be sanded before painting. To make the frame soft, the back and seat can be covered with fabric, placing foam rubber under it. Visible areas should be coated in several layers with varnish intended for outdoor use. The sofa will become more aesthetically pleasing if the paint is matched to the color of the upholstery.

Pallet bench

4 - Option for a bench made from pallets

If you are faced with the task of how to make a bench from improvised materials, you can use pallets as the material; the result should be a bench, as shown in photo 4. Making a structure for a gazebo with your own hands will turn out to be the fastest and least labor-intensive task among other solutions.

To make a bench for a gazebo, you can use boards from pallets. Alternative solution will become boards that are 20-22 mm thick. When purchasing boards for such a product, you should give preference to boards with a width of 100 mm. Euro pallets can have a length of 1000 or 1200 mm, you can choose one of the existing options.

Such a bench for a gazebo with your own hands should be given a comfortable height of 450 mm. If you are faced with the task of how to make the structure a decoration for the gazebo, the blanks should be sanded to remove chips and irregularities. The pallets can be fastened together with self-tapping screws.

Making chairs

In the gazebo, for example, you can sit at a small coffee table while playing cards on warm evenings, for which chairs are perfect, as shown in photo 5.

5 - Coffee table and wooden chairs

And if necessary, they can be disassembled and folded for storage. Chairs with this design should be made using a screwdriver or drill. For the work you will need PVA and paint.

Such chairs will have a shield at the base, the thickness of which is 28 mm, the total area for one product is 0.8 m2. Chairs can be made from plywood or OSB; wide boards are also suitable. You can calculate the dimensions of the structure and use them to make a chair for the gazebo yourself. Every master will think about how to make such chairs even more comfortable, the answer to the question will be soft pillows, which can be laid on top. Each can be strengthened with braid, which should be sewn to the corners.

It doesn’t matter what you decide to make, a sofa, chair or benches for a gazebo on your own, it is important to make the correct marks before cutting, and then connect all the elements.

How to make benches in a gazebo with your own hands - detailed instructions and photo. Elements such as tables and benches in a gazebo will always be indispensable in the world. in their own way design features is simple, and therefore it will not be difficult to build it yourself. Even those who are not a professional carpenter can make these simple pieces of furniture with their own hands. And if you want to devote more time to the process, your furniture will even surpass store-bought ones.

In order to understand how to make benches with your own hands, you should adhere to certain working conditions.

The general decoration and furniture in the gazebo must also be a single whole, or an organic composition. The table and benches should be a decoration of the building, which at the same time will not stand out from the entire ensemble. Ideally, you should use no more than three materials to decorate the structure and its details.

The best building material that matches the rest is wood. It can be used in both metal buildings and projects with non-standard materials, for example, like polycarbonate.

Do wooden furniture not difficult. To do this, you do not necessarily need to know how to operate a plane; the ability to use a hammer and saw will suffice. Most modern manufacturing companies offer to buy finished wood, which has been processed and polished. All you have to do is cut the boards into pieces the right size and start assembling the frame for the future bench.

If you are the happy owner of a luxurious gazebo with forged elements and a barbecue, then you probably want to make furniture in the same style, and you won’t have to pick up a hammer. Construction stores have ready-made forged elements, and they can be used to complement any furniture made from a steel corner or profile pipe

Product creation

Drafting

How to make a bench in a gazebo where there is? The manufacture of any product begins, first of all, with design, namely with the creation of a drawing.

Before you begin, you should measure everything carefully. Also make allowance for the fact that wood shrinks over time. The main value that should be indicated on the drawing is the height of the structure. The best option is a bench with a height of 40 to 60 cm. The height can be adjusted only depending on the structure of the gazebo and the preferences of the household.

Typically, partitions or walls in a gazebo with a barbecue are placed around the perimeter of each support, and therefore it is not necessary to make backs for the bench, but if you still want each bench to have a back, try to calculate everything in advance, in particular the angle of inclination and length. If you decide to make furniture from wood, and this is your first time, try to choose the simplest designs. Projects that are not very complex can be completed in one day even without professional skills.

Materials and accessories

So, what tools and materials will we need for our work? What materials to choose? To make a bench that looks nice and is comfortable, you will need to do some work. First you will need to study all the technology. It wouldn't hurt to take a look detailed master class on manufacturing, which explains all the elementary models.

The structure will have the following dimensions:

  • The length of the back and seat will be 1.6 meters.
  • The seats will be located at a height of 0.4 meters.
  • The bench should be 0.95 meters high.
  • The ideal seat width is 0.5 meters.

A bench with these parameters can accommodate four people. To make a bench for a gazebo with your own hands, you will need some tools and materials, and their list is not that long.

  1. Boards with a size of 1.6 * 0.15 m. You should select several blanks - 3 for the seat and 2 for the back.
  2. It would be optimal to use wooden blocks with a thickness of 4 cm as holders.
  3. Varnish and .
  4. Self-tapping screws.
  5. Plane.
  6. Sandpaper.
  7. Electric.

It will be good if you immediately select boards of the appropriate size, and if there are none, you can use an electric jigsaw. All surfaces must be treated with varnish and primer; paint can be used instead of varnish. This will make it possible to extend the life of the structure.

Helpful advice! The bench can be reinforced with beams. In this case, it will be stronger and more durable.

Manufacturing technology

You can make a bench for a gazebo in a few steps. To begin with, you will need to develop a drawing and prepare the necessary materials, and when everything is completed, you can begin.

The work includes the following actions:

  • Pre-prepared boards should be planed and sanded. They should be processed so that there are no splinters or irregularities.
  • Grooves should be made in the boards that were chosen for making the backrest. To do this, buy this useful tool like a plane.
  • After this, we make supports from strong, high-quality beams, which have a flat part for fastening.
  • If desired, you can equip the bench with beautiful carved handrails. To do this, use a jigsaw and cut out patterns.
  • Prepare everything for assembly, and for this the screws will need to be processed special means, which prevents corrosion from developing and affecting the metal.

How to assemble a bench?

And this is one of the most interesting stages of making a bench for a gazebo that has a barbecue - assembly. You can already notice how the creation of your hands takes on the shape of a floor finished product. We begin installation with the legs. They should be connected to each other using crossbars, and self-tapping screws are used for reliable fastening. Select the blocks for making the legs carefully so that your bench will be stable in the future. Attach the backrest and seat to the legs.

If the length of the screws is not enough, you should make the holes slightly larger than the screw heads, and on the other side it is recommended to use clamps. At the ends, the legs need to be fastened to each other. As soon as everything is assembled and ready, the structure must be treated with a special compound that will prevent fungi from appearing and developing, and then varnished. When the bench is dry, you can use it.

A little about the metal bench

If it is easy to make a bench for a gazebo from wood, then make the same one, but metal structure it will be much more difficult. Its manufacturing process is not without certain subtleties, which should definitely be taken into account.

When working, use the following materials and devices:

  • Dye.
  • Hammer.
  • Profile pipe.
  • Welding machine.
  • Bolts.
  • Boards.
  • Bulgarian.

If necessary, you can decorate the bench with special bent metal elements, and for this use a device such as pipe benders. There is also a variation that is easier to make - a bench without a back. The work is done strictly according to the drawing. The frame should be made of a crossbar, which is placed between the legs. The length should be 1.55 meters. For the back legs and back, you will need to buy pieces with a length of 0.78 meters.

The seat is made from two pieces, which are 0.35 meters long. The front supports are made from 0.39 meter pieces of metal, and to fasten them together, use 0.2 meter long pipes. The legs are connected on each side using 0.45 meter curved strips. The seat is made from three planks, and the back is also made from the same.

When each of the parts is in place, only the assembly stage remains.

This work is carried out in the following sequence:

  • Connect the seat and crossbar elements. These elements must be located perpendicular to each other.
  • After this, attach bent sections with a length of 0.78 meters to the product.
  • Now all that remains is to weld the front supports to the frame, and then connect this to the crossbar and pipe.
  • Weld a pad on each leg, and place arcs between the supports.
  • Sand the welds and paint.

After this, the bench for the gazebo is considered almost ready. Now all that remains is to attach the boards to the seat and back. Prepare them in advance, process the boards with a plane and cover them with a layer of varnish. As you can see, you can make a bench for a gazebo in a few hours, and there is nothing difficult about it. The main thing is that before starting work, a drawing and materials are prepared, and then you will receive excellent furniture for your gazebo.

Conclusion

Creating a bench is quite simple work, and in order to figure out what should be done, familiarize yourself with the technology of work and make an accurate drawing. It is also important what kind of design you make. It may be made of metal, or it may be made of wood. In the second case, the materials will be much cheaper. It is also not necessary to seek help from specialists for assembly, and even during manufacturing metal bench you just need to know how to handle the welding machine correctly.

In gazebos of any type, the most common material for making benches is wood. It has sufficient advantages:

  1. Availability. To make a wooden bench, one or two boards are enough. This set is cheaper than iron or stone.
  2. Ease of processing. Benches can be metal, stone, brick, concrete. But the construction wooden seats much simpler and does not require expensive tools.
  3. Environmental friendliness. Wood is one of the “cleanest” building materials.
  4. Thermal conductivity. Sitting on a stone pedestal is harmful to health (you can easily get a cold in the pelvic organs). Using a wooden bench does not have a negative impact on your health.

Wood also has disadvantages: tendency to destruction (rotting), ease of combustion. Wooden benches require periodic painting.
However, positive characteristics more. Therefore, a wooden bench is the most traditional for gazebos.

How are the benches different?

The simplest bench is a board fixed horizontally. Its geometric proportions, dimensions, method of fastening and list of additional parts depend on specific conditions. For example, the following:

  • Fixation. The bench can be rigidly fixed or portable. The first type of design is easier to assemble and requires less time and materials to implement. The second is convenient and practical, since the bench can be used outside the gazebo.
  • Age group. The benches for adults are larger than those for children.
  • Free space. The dimensions of the bench are directly dependent on the space allocated for it.
  • The presence of a back and armrests makes the design more complex, but more functional.

Video: Types of garden benches

One of the main fundamental differences seats different types is the combination of wood with others building materials: stone (brick, concrete) and metals.

How to make a wooden bench yourself?

To make a bench with your own hands, you need a clear idea of the dimensions and features future design.

Preparation

All “geometry” must be calculated before carpentry work begins. It is worth considering the space allocated for sitting in the gazebo, calculating required amount and sizes of materials.

Peculiarities

It is important to immediately think through all the design details (including aesthetic ones). These include:

  • Seat area. Its dimensions, structure (solid board, slats, “loose” log).
  • Support device. The bench can be “sewn” to the wall, rest on dug-in posts, or be portable.
  • The presence of a back and armrests.

DIY bench. The simplest design is a completely wooden bench.

Calculation

Having decided on the type of bench, you need to accurately calculate the dimensions of all its parts.
Standard dimensions for chairs: height – 43-48 cm (for children’s – from 18 cm), seat depth – 35-45 cm.
A bench is a simple structure. Therefore, most developers believe that they can cope without developing a project. This is an illusion, because in order to figure it out “on the spot,” you still have to measure, calculate, and cut to size. But the loss of time and the likelihood of errors increases.

Required minimum tools and materials

To build a bench you will need carpentry tools:

  1. Hammer.
  2. Saw. A crosscut saw is sufficient. If possible, it is better to use a power tool (combat saw, jigsaw).
  3. Screwdriver. The bench can be “knocked down on nails.” Their size depends on the thickness of the boards and the fastening design.
But it is more practical to fasten the boards with screws using a screwdriver.
  4. Tape measure and a simple pencil for marking.

The main elements of a bench are the seat and support. Slats, boards, posts, thick logs may be suitable for their manufacture (the characteristics of the material depend on the design of the bench).

Built-in bench. Rigid mounting of seats.

Projects: from a simple bench to an exclusive bench

Built-in bench

Firmly fix the board or wooden shield along the wall in several ways:

  • 1. Only to the walls. In small gazebos, the board can be fixed along the longitudinal wall and with its ends to the transverse walls, on three sides, almost along the entire perimeter.
A block (2.5x7 cm or more) is nailed to the walls at the height of the bench, on which the bench fabric is laid. It can be fixed in different ways:
    • Hard. The board or slatted board is secured with several screws.
    • On the hinges. The seat is secured door hinges so that it can be raised as needed (like a locker in a passenger carriage compartment). The space under the bench can be separated by a partition (2.5 cm thick boards, 1.5x3 cm slats or plywood) and used as a storage place for various utensils.
    • Free. The bench can simply be placed on the support bars and not be fixed. This is convenient because you can always remove it to increase usable area gazebos.

Bench with oblique supports. To construct them, beams can be used that rest against the base of the wall.

  • 2. Oblique supports. Long seats (over 150 cm) require additional point supports on the front side of the seat. For their installation, beams can be used that rest not on the floor, but on the base of the wall (the place where the floor plinth is usually located). Such supports do not interfere with the legs.
  • 3. On the posts. The bench can be mounted on posts dug into the floor. This design is justified when it is impossible to use walls for support. For example, if the gazebo is built from fragile, non-rigid materials (thin slats, wattle fence, living plants).
Rigid fixation of the bench is acceptable in small gazebos, the arrangement of furniture in which will remain unchanged. In spacious buildings, the bench can be portable, which is convenient and practical.

The simplest wooden bench

The seat is a board 40 mm thick and at least 30-35 cm wide. This design is simply made:

1. Marking. The depth of the seat is determined by the width of the board.
It is necessary to make 4 parts. Other structural elements are somewhat narrower than the seat board (by 7-10 cm). But cutting from one board is also possible:

  • Seat. For 2 people you need a bench 80-90 cm wide.
  • Legs (2 pcs.). Sections 39 cm long.
  • Element of rigidity. Board 58 cm long (for a bench 80 cm wide).

A simple wooden bench. Quick and easy to make.

2. Sawing.

3. Attaching the legs. The end of the board of the legs must be placed close to the seat (at an angle of 90 degrees) and screwed with screws.
It is better to place the legs at a distance of 70 mm from the edge of the bench board.

4. Fixation of legs. The stiffening element is also secured with screws (see figure), which are preferably “sunk” into the surface of the wood. To do this, you need to countersink the hole with the tip of a drill of a suitable diameter.

All simple wooden benches are made according to the principle of a U-shaped connection of boards and their rigid fixation to each other. They differ only in the number of legs (two or four) and the type of fixing element.

Logs can be used to make a bench different thicknesses. Solid benches with backs are cut out of large ones, and inlaid ones from small-diameter logs.
Any material can be used:

  1. Rounding. The remains of rounded logs from the construction of a bathhouse or a log house can be used to arrange a gazebo and furniture for it.
  2. Smooth.
  3. Knotty. Wood species such as maple, elm, etc. can be very knotty. This can be used as an aesthetic advantage: a well-processed tree trunk covered with irregularities looks interesting and unique.
  4. Curved. They can be used to create oval zones: a semicircular table is framed by a bench that repeats its outline.

Log bench. To make a bench, logs of different thicknesses can be used.

To make a log bench, you need to prepare the material, “estimate” the dimensions and principle of fixing the legs and get to work:

1. Cleaning. Logs must be cleared of bark. Sometimes this is not done if the product will be used under a roof.

2. Sawing. To complete the job, you will need a chainsaw (or electric saw with a bar of suitable length).

3. Sanding. Parts must be ground to avoid injury from multiple burrs. Make this more convenient with special attachments for an electric drill.

Sanded wood is coated with a weak (10%) solution of PVA glue. Burrs (the thinnest broken but not torn wood fibers) are raised and fixed in this position. After completely dry glue, the surface of the wood becomes rough. Therefore, it is sanded again.

Attention:
- Poorly sanded wood cannot be evenly coated with stain.
- If you do not remove the burrs by lifting them with a weak glue solution, they will rise from the varnish. The surface will be unpleasantly rough and scratchy.
- Damp, damp wood cannot be properly sanded.

4. Assembly.

5. Varnishing. The product is covered with stain if darkening of the wood is required. Then varnish for exterior use, yacht or parquet; wax mastic.

Not only a bench, but also chairs, a table and even the gazebo itself can be made from logs.

Wooden bench with backrest

Bench with backrest. We attach the backrests to the armrests, which are a continuation of the legs.

To the standard elements it is necessary to add two more: the plane of the back and the design of its fixation.

The easiest way to strengthen the back is to extend the back row of legs in height. Ordinary chairs are designed according to this principle.

Another way is to attach the backrest to the armrests, which are an extension of the legs. This design allows you to obtain a strong connection with a minimum number of elements and fasteners. This shop is attractive because classic look, lattice back.

Combination benches

Not only wood is used, but also other materials: stone (concrete, brick) and iron. Wood is used to construct the plane of the bench, and other materials are used to provide support.

  1. Stone supports. The bench can be made of stone, brick or cast in concrete. The bench and back are made of wood.
  2. Metal supports. The simplest option– legs from square profile. More complex ones may include bent lines and artistic forging.

A bench with a metal base has great advantages:

  • Ease of design. Metal carcass eliminates the need to think through the reliability of pairing elements. Welding metal is stronger than any type of wood fastening.
  • Strength.
  • Durability.

But the use of metal is not without its drawbacks: the need for welding equipment, protecting the material from corrosion, and a higher cost.

What you need to know when making a bench with your own hands

To get started, you need to determine important characteristics future bench: will it be built-in or portable, what materials to use and whether it is enough necessary tools and skill in using them. It is these features that can affect the design of the future product.

Having in your possession country cottage area, I want to arrange it with the highest comfort. For many, the gazebo is a place for relaxing tea and gathering guests. Well, a table made of wood will perfectly fulfill its intended purpose, and will fit perfectly into the given space. This article will talk about how to make wooden tables and benches for a gazebo.

Making something with your own hands means not only saving on the purchase of a finished product, but also delighting your soul with the result. In addition, this approach allows you to design wooden furniture for gazebos according to the area of the building, thereby solving the issue of arrangement with maximum efficiency.

The tabletop can have absolutely different shapes(round, oval, square, octagonal, etc.), the main thing is that you have enough skills home handyman. Anyone familiar with carpentry can skip the lectures on the purpose of a particular tool and safety rules when working with them.

Wooden tables for gazebo photo

Wood for garden furniture

  • When selecting material, special attention is paid to its quality. Wooden parts must not have damage caused by insects or fungi. The most even lumber will allow assembly to be carried out easily and quickly. In addition, this will reduce wood consumption (no large scraps).
  • Conifers have a natural softness, they can be easily processed and have an aesthetically attractive appearance. appearance. However, the resins released will ruin both the clothes of the people sitting at the table and the festive tablecloth.
  • Wooden tables and benches from hardwood most profitable option. The table will be strong and durable. The most preferred lumber is obtained from pear, cherry, larch, birch, and ash. It should be remembered that wood changes its original shade over time.

Wood processing

  • Apply protective compounds necessary both before and after installation. Such measures will help preserve the rich texture and increase the service life of the finished structure.
  • The treatment will ensure the moisture resistance of the wood and maintain natural vapor permeability natural material. Protection is especially important for this piece of furniture, given its permanent location outdoors.
  • It should be remembered that if during the assembly process the components of the structure are adjusted, the sawed areas are also processed.

DIY wooden tables for the gazebo

  • Before starting work, do not neglect such a stage as preparation. The table is a structure consisting of two main elements - a tabletop and support legs. The first step is to draw up a sketch of the future creation, in which all the details will be noted, as well as their size and location.
  • Think over and prepare wood, tools, painting materials and fasteners in advance, so that at the most crucial moment you don’t have to run around the neighbors in search of the necessary things or go to the nearest hardware store.

Material. Tool. Fasteners

  • Procurement of all components of the structure is carried out on the basis of the drawn up project. When choosing the size and shape of a table, it is important to rely not only on personal preferences, but also take into account similar indicators of the gazebo.
  • This item should not interfere with the free passage of people; here we mean the distance between the table top and the seating areas. In polygonal gazebos, round and oval tables. But many, choosing between aesthetics and practicality, prefer standard square or rectangular tables.

  • If the geometry of the tabletop may be futuristic, then the height of the table must be treated more rationally. The optimal indicator is considered to be 70-75 cm. In this case, the height of the seating areas should be in the range of 42-47 cm.
  • The thickness of the boards for the tabletop is 3 cm. This parameter will allow you to assemble durable surface, without deflection even under high loads. The width of the lumber can be from 15 to 20 cm. Ready-made panels, which are sold in some hardware stores or carpentry shops, will help simplify assembly work.
  • For the legs, 5x5 cm bars are taken. If you want to make a table with a hint of a masterpiece, then you can purchase figured balusters.

You will also need the following construction tools:

  • screwdriver;
  • drill;
  • saw, jigsaw;
  • sanding machine, sandpaper of different grain sizes;
  • level, square;
  • marker, pencil;
  • glue, screws (6x30 mm and 4.8x50 mm).

The first stage of assembling a table into a wooden gazebo

  • All wooden elements processed with a plane. The surface is brought to perfect condition grinder. For hard to reach places sheet sandpaper is used. Thus, all irregularities, scratches, and burrs are removed.
  • As a result, the components of the future structure should be smooth and even. All sides of the lumber need to be processed; the ends and corners are not ignored.
  • To create a higher quality countertop, it is better to buy tongue and groove boards. They will allow you to assemble the shield without gaps, while eliminating the labor-intensive work of adjusting individual parts.
  • It is recommended to chamfer the edges of the bars used as support legs.

Assembling the tabletop

  • The frame gives strength and stability to the entire product. The boards for the frame should be approximately 30 cm shorter in length and width relative to the same parameters of the table top.

  • The outer frame is formed by 4 boards (2 short and 2 long). Using a square, first place a short board for the frame on the edge at an angle of 90 degrees, attach a leg to it and fasten it with self-tapping screws. Next, connect the second support from the other edge of the board.
  • The second pair of legs is fastened in the same way. Then long frame boards are attached to the blanks. Fastening can be done directly with self-tapping screws or using metal corners, securely fastening the entire structure.
  • To avoid possible splitting of the material, you can pre-drill guide holes into which the screws are screwed. The heads of the fasteners must be completely recessed into the wood.

  • The boards that form the tabletop are held together with glue and crossbars. WITH outside a circle or oval is drawn. Through electric jigsaw it is given its final form. The surface and cuts are sanded and treated with impregnations, varnishes, etc.
  • The tabletop is attached using nails or self-tapping screws carefully selected in length. Fixation is carried out from the outside, so the caps must be recessed in the wood. The resulting dots can be hidden with putty that matches the shade of the wood as closely as possible.

  1. First of all, you should create a drawing of the structure itself in order to visualize what the final result will look like, what materials and in what quantity will be needed? To do this, you need to determine the desired dimensions and dimensions; this is best done immediately on the site.
  2. Having determined the height, width and length of the bench, you can begin to create a drawing. For example, it is considered standard to calculate the height of a bench from the ground to the seat to be about 60 cm. But if the bench is made for children, then its height will be much less. If you plan to make a bench with a back, then you should determine the parameter of the back and its angle of inclination.
  3. To perform a bench it is best to use edged boards with a cross section of 25 mm. Here you should pay attention to the fact that the material is good quality, without knots or visible defects.
  4. Boards in the amount of 5 pieces should be planed and sanded. Of these, 2 will go to the back of the bench, and 3 to the seat.
  5. Using an electric planer, special grooves 10 mm deep and 30 mm wide are made in the boards intended for the backrest.
  6. Vertical strips for the backrest, 10 mm thick, are cut out of the clapboard scraps. Their optimal location is at a distance of 120 mm from each other.
  7. The handrails at the bench can be made into shapes by cutting them out with a jigsaw. It is better to choose a pattern that is not complicated. To perform some curly elements, you need to make the desired sketch of the design, and then transfer it to a special template using a hacksaw and jigsaw. It is more appropriate to use the same pattern on the back of the bench.
  8. It is advisable to make the outer part of the handrail narrower, so it will be more convenient to lean on it.
  9. The supports for the handrail are made of planed timber with a flat part for fastening. Or in this case, you can also use the front legs of the bench, which need to be made higher, that is, not up to the seat, but up to the handrail.
  10. All parts of the bench will be assembled using woodworking screws with an anti-corrosion coating.
