How to decorate a large room. DIY room decoration: ideas, crafts. Paper cupcake baskets

Paper is universal material for creativity, from which you can make many crafts. In addition, creating paper decor is good to do with children, which develops their creativity and hidden talents. This article will talk about how to make a wall decoration with your own hands, as well as the technique and various variations.

There are a lot of original wall crafts - pompoms, garlands, flowers and papers, fans, etc. To create decor you do not need special knowledge and skills, the main thing is to allocate a little time and patience for this.

Paper pompoms (MK)

The decoration looks delicate and beautiful, and also stands out from the general background. Pompoms can be different colors and sizes, which allows you to make them to match the style of the room or holiday.

To create a paper decoration you need to prepare:

  • kraft or corrugated paper;
  • threads;
  • scissors.

You can make pompoms in the following way:

1. Several sheets of colored paper are placed on top of each other and folded into an accordion. If you need a small ball, 4 layers are enough, for a medium one - 5-6, for a ball large sizes– 8 or more layers of paper.

2. When everything is ready, the middle of the folded sheet is tied with thread or wire. To accurately guess the middle, you need to fold the accordion in half and tie it at the bend. If this is not done, the ball may end up skewed.

3. The edges of the accordion are cut into a triangle or semicircle. Next begins the most difficult and patient work. Each sheet is carefully straightened individually so as not to damage the paper. First you need to move to the center of the sheet, and then straighten out the individual layers. For convenience, it is better to divide the layers in half - this is much easier than separating each sheet separately from the total mass.

4. After the work is done, we proceed to straightening and stretching each sheet, thus giving the ball the desired shape. The resulting pompoms will become bright decoration walls, tables and other surfaces.

Weight is worth considering finished products when mounted on a wall.

Newspapers, napkins, postcards, etc. can also serve as materials. Everything is usually attached with glue, a stapler or paper clips, depending on the shape and type of garland.

Checkboxes

Rectangular elements are cut out, which are then folded in half and strung on a thread. Everything is fixed with glue or double-sided tape. To create a bright garland, it is better to use as many flowers as possible. You also need to maintain the same distance between the flags for a more attractive and aesthetic appearance.

How to decorate a child's room

1. You can start by decorating the walls of the children's room.

Of course, you can limit yourself to purchasing wallpaper with playful patterns and colorful designs. But if you have a desire to do something special with your own hands, then you should pay attention to bright accents, which are already present in the room.

For example, children's bedding, blankets have different images or bright patterns, which you can transfer to the wall and/or ceiling. Use watercolor paints to do this.

You CANNOT use aerosol paints to paint walls, as they will harm the health of the child and your health.

2. Unusual wall images.

In the first example, you copy a drawing that is already present in the interior, and in this example, you create a completely new image to which you can add three-dimensional elements. You and your child can make several crafts from paper or plastic and then decorate the room with them.

3. What should I add or change?

Take a look around and think about what you can change in your children's room. Maybe some elements can be decorated or changed. For example, you can replace regular sofa pillows with brighter ones or simply sew (you can buy) bright pillowcases.

You can also come up with a specific theme - for boys you can decorate the room in the form pirate ship, and for girls in the form of a castle for a princess. Add paintings, posters and rugs with a suitable theme (don't forget about wall decorations).

Below you can see a huge number of children's rooms decorated on different themes.

Undoubtedly, accessories play a big role in interior design: vases, interesting details, colorful decorative pillows, figurines, etc. To prevent them from turning into simple “dust collectors”, it is not necessary to invite a designer. If you wish, you can handle this task yourself. The main thing here is to keep the decorations in the same style, which would not stand out from general interior rooms or the whole house.

Moreover, each room needs individual solution. For example, frivolous decorations such as decorative brooms, amulets, fruits, and wicker baskets are not suitable for the living room. These accessories will look better as kitchen decor.

We sew a decorative pillow for the living room

One of the most functional decorations for the living room are pillows (see photo). In addition, they have great aesthetic value. They can be made from contrasting materials or matched to the main color of the interior. You can make such decorative pillows with your own hands. Even a novice needlewoman can handle this.

Almost any material you like is suitable for making pillows, but it must meet certain criteria:

  • keeps its shape perfectly;
  • be resistant to washing;
  • be hypoallergenic.

Another concern is to choose the right material for the filler. It is better to give preference here to foam rubber and silicone. And one more thing: it is better to prefer dense material for a pillowcase, and its color should, if possible, be light, without patterns. Here the optimal choice would be cotton.

Having decided on the material, we proceed to selecting the shape of the pillow. It all depends on your personal preferences, as well as on the interior of the room. So, if it is maintained in strict classic style, then pillows in the style will be inappropriate patchwork.

The most popular pillow shapes:

  1. square;
  2. round;
  3. rectangular.

Let's move on to sewing pillows.

Advice! The most successful seam for sewing covers and pillowcases is linen. We combine the parts and sew them together right sides up. Iron them carefully and then sew them down. The crumbling edge of the material will thus end up inside the seam. This protects it from falling off.

Master class for children

The children's room provides a huge choice for imagination and bringing ideas to life, because children love bright and original things. And if you involve them in doing simple crafts under your guidance, then this process will turn into a real game.

Let's look at some ideas on how to make a toy with your own hands. It will become not only an original decoration for a child’s room, but also true friend for your child.

Materials you will need:

  • fabric in two colors (it is advisable to choose one that will not shrink when washed);
  • sewing supplies;
  • buttons;
  • filler (sintepon is suitable).

Advice! Select a pattern in advance or make it yourself to make the toy more neat.

Then cut out the pattern and transfer it to the material. In order to make the toy's ears, nose and paws, you can use fabric of a different color, maybe contrasting.

We sew together the parts of the head with our own hands. The front part of the head is formed by three parts. We sew the front and back parts, not forgetting to insert the previously prepared ears. We fill the toy with filler gradually, while assembling individual parts. And you will get a toy, as in the photo above.

  • It is worth taking into account the interests and hobbies of the child, but do not forget about functionality and a sense of proportion.
  • It's better to ask general direction in design, choose minimal content, and encourage the creative impulse of children, allow them to develop the design and decorations for their new room.
  • Bright interior elements will be appropriate against a neutral background; an excess of flashy shades will negatively affect the mood.
  • If your teenager loves black, don't be alarmed. Suggest using natural or fake diamond and forged items. But the black and white palette of minimalism is suitable for children at least over 16 years old. This basic palette will be complemented by natural colors of wood, glass, and brick.
