Glaze the balcony with an aluminum profile with your own hands. Aluminum loggias and balconies. Which double-glazed windows to choose?

Glazing of balconies and loggias with modern designs from various materials has become firmly established in our lives. After glazing, a room blown by all the winds and covered with snow in winter turns into extra room, office, winter garden or gym.

Plastic windows remain the leader in popularity. Behind wooden structures the reputation of being the most environmentally friendly and functional has been established. Aluminum glazing systems for balconies and loggias are less in demand. It seems that this fact is largely due to the lack of information about the types of glazing using aluminum profiles, the differences between “cold” and “warm” glazing options, the obvious advantages of aluminum loggias and the same obvious disadvantages.

Aluminum loggias: advantages and disadvantages

Aluminum loggias and balconies are predominantly of the sliding type. In the lower and upper profiles, special rollers are installed in the guides (they are called technical grooves), on which the sashes are suspended. Currently, designs with two and three guides are available.

The doors in the frames move easily and silently using ball bearings. The number of doors in such a design can be from 2 to 8. When the doors are closed, locks with latches are activated, which make it impossible to enter the room from the street. To improve sound insulation in aluminum loggias, various seals are used. You can also order blind, hinged or combined opening of the doors.

Aluminum structures for glazing loggias and balconies can be “cold” or “warm”. “Cold” are profiles without the use of thermal inserts (insulating pads). Without a thermal insert, an aluminum profile with high thermal conductivity instantly freezes in winter. “Cold” glazing can only protect against wind, dust and precipitation. Temperature in autumn winter period on an aluminum loggia or balcony it will be uncomfortable for a person. Difference between outside temperature and the temperature on the loggia will be about 7-8°.

Therefore, to create comfortable conditions for people on the loggia at any time of the year, a “warm” profile is used for glazing. Today, leading manufacturers have mastered the production of profiles with complex thermal inserts, which significantly reduce the thermal conductivity of aluminum.

For an exclusive design, the “warm” profile of the aluminum loggia is trimmed with wood, which, in addition to its decorative function, also serves as a kind of additional thermal insert.

Advantages

The advantages of glazing loggias with aluminum structures include:

Exceptional reliability of the profile material - aluminum.

Light weight structure.

  • Fire safety.
  • Protection against entry from the outside thanks to the use of locks with latches.
  • Reliable protection from precipitation, wind, dust and noise.
  • Various design options (sliding, hinged, tilt-and-turn, fixed, combined).
  • Relative ease of installation.
  • Silent and easy movement of sliding doors.
  • Attractive appearance.
  • An aluminum loggia with a sliding structure visually appears larger. In addition, the sliding type of glazing, due to the small profile width, increases the illumination of both the loggia itself and the adjacent room.
  • Huge variety color solutions profile coloring. In the RAL catalog you can choose any of the 300 color options presented. One or both sides of the profile can be painted in the chosen color.

TO additional benefits Sliding-type aluminum loggias are lightweight, which allows them to be installed on the balconies of old residential buildings. The sliding design saves usable space on the loggia and balcony. And the main advantage is affordable price compared to other glazing systems.

Flaws

Any system has disadvantages, and aluminum loggias are no exception to this rule:

  • The high thermal conductivity of aluminum eliminates the possibility of creating glazed loggia or a balcony with the same comfortable conditions as with glazing with PVC systems (more often called “plastic windows”). “Cold” aluminum structures do not have thermal inserts, and in our climate in winter the frames will freeze. “Warm” aluminum structures have thermal inserts, but in terms of thickness (and therefore characteristics) they cannot be compared with the thickness of a PVC profile. “Warm” aluminum profiles no longer have a price advantage over glazing systems made from other materials.
  • Aluminum has a significant coefficient of thermal expansion. An aluminum profile 2000 mm long can expand/contract within 10-15 mm due to temperature changes in our climatic conditions. Such vibrations require special attention to the design of the junction of the profile and the wall of the house.
  • In winter, the “cold” profile freezes and ice forms in the guides. The moisture that gets into them does not have time to completely escape through the drainage holes to the lower ebb and freezes, which makes it impossible to open the valves. Until the ice thaws, the doors will remain locked.

Installation of aluminum sliding glazing on a loggia

Today the market offers profiles from Provedal, Krauss, SIAL, MAK, as well as profiles from other manufacturers. So, in the new standard residential buildings glazing of the P-400 Krauss series is often installed in a blind or hinged version. This is a “cold” profile with one glass. Both manufacturers, which occupy leading positions in the Russian market - Provedal and Krauss, produce both “cold” and “warm” profiles. Structurally, the “cold” profile of Provedal and Krauss are practically no different.

Installation tool

Let's first prepare the tools that we need to install the aluminum loggia:

  • Hammer and drills for concrete.
  • Screwdriver.
  • Hammer.
  • Building level.
  • Roulette.
  • Pencil.
  • Dowels.
  • Construction foam.
  • Caulk gun.
  • Sealant.
  • Wooden beam 50x50 mm.
  • Wooden wedges.

Preparation for installation

First, the old wooden glazing frames are removed.

Important! When dismantling old frames, it is important not to damage the parapet of the loggia or balcony. To do this, try to apply force in the plane of the frame. Inspect the concrete parapet and repair it with mortar if necessary. Work on installing new glazing can be continued only after the solution has hardened on the parapet.

After removing the fasteners, remove all debris. For a more reliable installation of aluminum glazing, before installation we fix a 50x50 mm wooden beam to the parapet. Installation will be simplified, and the structure will have a heat-insulating gasket between the parapet and the profile. We check the horizontal installation of the timber.

Before starting installation, we remove the glazing in those structural elements where this is possible - first of all, from the blind parts. This way we won't damage it during installation. It is recommended to remove all sliding parts.

To the top concrete slab we attach the visor. We install a low tide on the parapet. We seal the gap between the ebb and the parapet with sealant.

We attach it to the profile using special metal screws mounting plates with a pitch of 700 mm. With the help of an assistant, we lift the structure prepared for installation and install it in the prepared opening. We align using wedges horizontally, vertically and in the plane of the opening. We check with building level. After leveling, we make markings on the walls and ceiling (top concrete slab) for mounting plates.

We drill holes in the walls and ceiling and secure the mounting plates with dowels. Once again we check the frame for verticality, hang the elements removed before installation and install the glazing. Structurally, the sliding-type aluminum loggia is designed in such a way that the doors can be easily removed and easily installed in place. There is no need to make any effort for this. We install the window sill in place and check that it fits well to the lower profile of the structure and is stable. Then we pull out the window sill.

Very important! Maximum tolerance from the vertical and horizontal when installing the structure is 3 mm for the entire length or height of the profile. Please contact Special attention to the fastening points in order to avoid the appearance of profile deflections.

We foam all the gaps around the perimeter of the profile, starting from the bottom plane of the opening. We finally install the window sill. When foaming, we control the completeness of filling the gaps with fine-pored polyurethane foam. We cover the foaming areas on the side of the room with plastic covers.

If the apartment in which they live does not have a balcony, then contact the relevant supervisory organizations, special permission, project and calling specialists, they begin work. If you have skill in this matter, then you can install balconies yourself and at the same time increase its area by using an external structure.

For this:

  • The glazing frame is placed outside the balcony at a distance equal to the width of the window sill (0.4-0.5 m);
  • The floor area is increased strictly according to the slab (maximum by 0.5 m);
  • Both options are performed simultaneously.
  1. Due to the fact that the floor area increases, its space also expands.
  2. The window sill is wide, which in no way reduces the primary (initial) footage of the balcony.
  3. The appearance of the structure becomes original and unique.
  4. Glazing provides good illumination;
  5. The strength structure of the remote balcony is strengthened.

To do this, the following work is carried out:

  • Prepare the project;
  • Carry out welding work;
  • Install the roof;
  • Perform glazing;
  • Insulate the structure and provide ventilation;
  • Arranging the flooring;
  • Carry out interior finishing work.

Let's consider each stage separately.

Prepare the project and carry out welding work

Make the necessary calculations, determine not only design features structures, but also space-planning solutions for balconies.

To do this you need to know the following:

  • Dimensions, roof and floor structure;
  • Number and type of windows or blocks;
  • Methods for insulating structures;
  • If necessary, then the issues of heating and lighting are resolved;
  • Are considering various methods interior decoration and make a choice.

During welding work, a frame is created and strengthened.

If the apartment is located on the first floor of the house, then a balcony installer will not be needed. During such work, piles are installed on which the balcony is attached. For the upper floor, not only welding is used, but also special metal structures that are capable of transferring the weight of the main balcony slab to the load-bearing (supporting) wall of the entire house. For this purpose, additional reinforcement is used; it is mounted in the main wall of the building.

In order to obtain a reliable and durable structure, all welding work necessary for the frame is entrusted to professionals.

The metal structure must be protected from corrosion; for this purpose it is coated with a special composition.

Mounting the roof

These works are carried out strictly according to the project.

For the roof, bituminous shingles are preferable, which will make it possible to avoid noise during rain. If they decide to use a different roofing covering, then they will have to carry out additional work, for example, for sound insulation, which will lead to unnecessary costs.

To equip the roof, galvanized iron, metal tiles, ondulin, etc. are used.

The basis of the structure is a metal frame, which is created by steel consoles (welded) having a triangular shape.

They are attached externally to the wall using anchor bolts.

For consoles, pipes are used (square cross-section from 2 to 3 cm). In order to prevent the roof from leaking, the galvanized ebb is deepened into the walls (the work is done using gating). The joints are sealed using roofing sealant.

Let's consider some materials for the roof:

  • Corrugated sheet - galvanized metal sheet with polymer coating, along the entire plane of which there are stiffening ribs.

    Glazing of balconies with aluminum profiles - economy class option

    It is environmentally friendly, resistant to corrosion, easy to install, service life up to 50 years;

  • Metal tiles are also economical, resistant to external negative factors, and have a service life of half a century;
  • Cellular polycarbonate (the roof allows light to pass through). It is used if the loggia is poorly lit during the day. This material has good thermal insulation, is non-flammable, flexible and durable;
  • Ondulin is a European slate that is produced by pressing cardboard, after which it is saturated with bitumen.

    This is an environmentally friendly product that is resistant to temperature changes.

After the choice of material for the roof has been made, installation of the roof on the balcony begins, its type depends on constructive solution and so maybe:

  1. Dependent (relies on the supporting structure). This type is performed in a complex;
  2. Independent (attached, without using racks, directly to the external wall of the house).

Dependent roofing requires more material and time.

This type is done simultaneously with the glazing of the balcony, since in this case double-glazed windows are also fixed to the load-bearing vertical posts.

This type of roof can withstand heavy loads; any of the listed materials are used for it. Note that the length of the dependent structure can be any. Glazing profiles are attached to it. This type of roof is insulated with various materials.

An independent roof is easy to install and requires lower financial costs.

No stands are needed to install it. But besides the advantages, this design also has disadvantages. For example, on a wide balcony, the shed roof is made with a large extension, and this makes it dangerous and unreliable, since the weight increases and there is a possibility of destruction.

Used for roof lightweight material- corrugated sheet.

Due to the fact that this design is not associated with glazing, it is impossible to thoroughly insulate it, and therefore this process do not produce.

If the installation of a balcony with removal takes place on top floor apartment building, then they do not build an independent roof, since in winter, during snowfall, it will not withstand the weight of the precipitation that has settled on it.

Glazing, insulation and ventilation

After the roof has been installed, they begin to glaze the structure; for this, windows with additional elements are ordered: a canopy, a low tide.

The first is installed outside at a certain angle; it protects against moisture penetration and prevents the space above the window opening from getting wet. The drip tide is mounted below and outside, and it is also necessary to perform the same function as the visor.

Popular today metal-plastic windows sliding structure or multi-chamber profiles and double-glazed windows.

They make it possible to achieve “warm glazing”, which means that noise (penetrating into the apartment) is reduced and heat losses are reduced.

All these operations, carried out in combination, make it possible to turn the balcony into a separate room, which will have an improved microclimate.

You should take into account the fact that it is prohibited to move heating radiators onto the balcony, so it is better to install a so-called “warm” floor here or install a radiator powered by electricity.

The walls are finished in the selected color scheme.

Conclusion

If you choose the right material, you can not only increase the area of the apartment, but also create a cozy room. Except metal frames They install plastic balconies, which they also install themselves.

Sliding balcony windows: modern solutions

Saving space in an apartment is increasingly becoming a concern for modern residents. Especially if the housing area is limited. Windows that open inside the room create a lot of problems and discomfort. There is a way out to avoid these inconveniences - sliding windows.

Cold glazing of a balcony with aluminum windows

They are especially relevant for balconies, where the glazing has a large area. Modern sliding balcony windows open to the sides rather than inwards, and this is very convenient.

However, before choosing, you should find out a little more about them, since modern manufacturers They offer several types and many varieties of windows.

Sliding windows on the balcony are convenient and modern

Types of sliding windows

  1. This type of window works on the principle of a compartment.

    The profile consists of independent rails along which the doors move.

When opened, the sash extends beyond the window block, so for installation of this type it is necessary to take into account that a lot of space is required on the side of the window. But, if there is a blind flap on the side, then this problem is solved.

  • The second type is balcony sliding frames with special fittings.

    In this case, the sash is pulled forward, and only then moved to the side.

    This type, like the previous one, is well compatible with blind sashes. This type of window is considered more reliable, convenient and well-preserved.

  • Materials used

    Aluminum

    Aluminum sliding windows

    Lightweight, durable, non-corrosive material.

    Therefore, windows made from it are quite popular. The frames glide easily on rollers, have a thin, elegant profile, are easy to care for, are durable and last a long time.

    But it should be noted that sliding aluminum balcony frames are only suitable for cold glazing of balconies.

    Double-glazed windows are not installed in these frames; they are intended only for installing ordinary glass.

    Naturally, the thermal insulation and noise insulation characteristics in this case are not too high.

    But, if you are not faced with the task of maximally insulating the balcony as a living space, you can safely install aluminum frames.

    Plastic

    Scheme of a plastic sliding window

    Plastic balcony sliding systems are considered one of the most practical and warm.

    Double-glazed windows are installed in such frames, which will reliably protect the balcony from noise, dust, cold and other unwanted influences.

    As you know, PVC has a number of advantages - strength, durability, resistance to temperature changes, it is environmentally friendly, easy to clean, does not change shape, and is impact resistant. The sashes made from it do not freeze, and the additionally reinforced corners of the frames give increased strength to the double-glazed window.

    Manufacturers often insert special reinforcing reinforcement into sliding PVC balcony frames, which makes the windows extremely strong and durable.

    By installing, for example, a three-chamber profile on such a frame, you will ideally protect your home from all unwanted external influences.

    Plastic frames have the most a large number of types and varieties. Special fittings can give additional functions and frame capabilities. You can supply your sliding balcony even with a remote control, and you don't have to open the windows manually.

    Tree

    Wooden sliding window

    We are perhaps the most accustomed to windows made of this material after many decades of its use.

    Wood - pure natural material, many people prefer it.

    It provides warmth; glazing of balconies using wooden frames is quite effective and will protect the house well.

    But, as you know, although wood as a material has many advantages, it also has a number of disadvantages. Even treated in a special way, it can rot from moisture; frames often swell, expanding in volume, which makes use difficult.

    Note!

    If you prefer wooden frames, carefully choose the company, the type of wood and ask how and with what it is processed.

    A multi-layer coating that protects against fungi, moisture and temperature changes is a must.

    We weigh all the pros and cons

    Nowadays, sliding balconies are increasingly found both in residential buildings and in industrial enterprises, offices, institutions, banks, and so on.

    But it’s worth learning about some of the disadvantages of sliding windows in order to take into account all the pros and cons before purchasing and installing them.

    Flaws

    1. A possible defect, which may not be noticed upon purchase, may later affect the operation of the window. Skewed frames or mismatched profiles will lead to difficult movement of the frame.
    2. Poorly processed material, poor-quality coating or non-compliance by the manufacturer with standards will not allow the window frame to last long enough.

    Corrosion, mold, mildew, swelling and distortion of frames are a consequence of poor-quality material or poor coating.

  • Unscrupulous work when installing frames. The workers installing your sliding balcony must be qualified and equipped with special tools.

    Do not hire outside specialists; always invite workers from the manufacturer. Be sure to ask for a certificate and guarantee period specified in the documents for the goods.

    Installation of balconies: installing a loggia with your own hands

    The balcony is a great place to spend free time on outdoors, without leaving home.

    From it you can enjoy a beautiful view of the need to go out for a cigarette, and for those who live on the ground floor, without a balcony, or simply want to attach a balcony to your home, we will tell you how this undertaking can be carried out.

    An example of a specially designed balcony

    Characteristics and methods of installing a balcony

    Balcony installation can also be done without the fees that were originally intended for it.

    Aluminum log houses and balconies

    At the first stage of installation, the base of the future balcony is usually designed and attached.

    This level is the most critical, since the stability of the entire balcony structure depends on the correct and reliable panel.

    Due to lack of experience in construction industry, carrying out all the necessary energy calculations and the actual installation of the balcony, it is better left to professionals who are ready to provide assurance regarding full list works

    The base slab of a balcony is usually made of reinforced concrete or a welded metal structure.

    An example of a diagram for attaching a balcony panel to a building wall

    After installing the base, two versions of balconies are offered:

    • creating a classic, famous balcony with a paravirtual or fence;
    • installation of a plastic balcony.

    Installation classic balcony carried out in accordance with the following program:

    1. Manufacturing and installation of base metals (just a place, fences on a balcony) or stone, such as bricks, parapets, along the periphery of the peripheral structure.
    2. If necessary, install a balcony roof and install windows on the balcony.
    3. The outside of the parapet is covered with a profiled sheet (or side), and the inside is mounted on the heater.
    4. Then the last end of the balcony, equipped with lighting and interior needs.

    A balcony device made of plastic or metal-plastic is made of large window blocks fixed directly to the balcony panel.

    Balconies of this type are also called French balconies. The frames of this balcony are filled with glass, partially only in the upper part or in full.

    Before installing a balcony from the ground on the ground floor of a multi-story building, you need a building permit, so you do not need to start installation without obtaining the necessary permits.

    Balcony device technology

    If you decide to create a balcony with your own hands, you should keep in mind that this process is quite complex and requires not only clear and competent calculations, but also an appropriate design concept.

    Necessary tools and materials for building a balcony

    To build balconies and loggias, use the following options:

    • fitting;
    • channel;
    • concrete;
    • Wiring;
    • wide boards or plywood;
    • pipes or thick logs;
    • putty knife.

    Layout of the future balcony

    We are preparing to build a balcony

    The construction of a balcony begins with a project.

    The location of the future balcony should be determined in advance. When the structure of the device on the second floor of the recommended plan at its lower seismic feeders from the channel reinforced concrete elements installed in seismic pits, which further facilitates the installation process and improves the strength and load-bearing capacity of the terrace.

    Incidentally, the balcony panel must also be supported by columns in the form of pillars that rise from the ground or diagonal supports on the outer wall of the building.

    When choosing the second option, it is necessary to ensure that the feet create loads not only on the walls, but also on the corners of the building or on the walls of walls with rectangular internal walls that extend from them.

    Installation instructions on the balcony panel

    The balcony is installed in the following order:

    The balcony base is ready for further construction of a complete balcony.

    Preparing a balcony on the ground floor of a multi-story building is recommended to support your foundation, where you can later organize a store or basement.

    As you can see, installing balconies is very challenging task for independent implementation.

    However, if you have done everything carefully and, most importantly, calculated everything correctly, you will definitely choose a balcony at home with your own hands.

    In earlier times, as a rule, only wood was used for glazing balconies. Over time, a certain stereotype even developed based on the use of wooden frames and swinging windows. Unfortunately, such frames turned black within a year and began to leak in places, requiring annual painting, and besides, the entire apartment building from the facade looked like a jumble of windows of different colors and materials.

    But, thanks to the glazing of balconies, apartment owners finally had the opportunity to use the useful space of the balcony, arranging storage rooms there, or even additional rooms, recreation areas, and workshops. Nowadays, fortunately, the possibilities for finishing balconies and loggias have become much greater. Very often, aluminum profiles are used as a supporting structure when glazing balconies.

    Cold glazing of a balcony with aluminum profile

    Nowadays, window framing can be done in the form of a frame or frame.

    Glazing of balconies with aluminum profiles is divided in turn into cold and warm. The aluminum material itself is a very good heat conductor, as a result of which the cold penetrates through it very quickly into the glazed space. Glazing of this type called "cold".

    The glazing of balconies will be “warm” if you use a certain aluminum profile, double frames and double-glazed windows.

    Which option to choose depends on the intended purpose of the room. In some cases, cold glazing is quite sufficient, especially since it copes with its role quite well (additional sound insulation and weather protection).

    The above difference is not the only one when glazing with aluminum profiles. The big advantage of aluminum glazing for balconies is the price, which depends on the materials used.

    The total cost of installing aluminum profiles is significantly lower than installing PVC windows.

    The only significant drawback of this type of glazing (as you might guess from the name of the finishing method) is its tendency to cool.

    Do-it-yourself installation of an aluminum balcony: detailed instructions for self-installation

    Cold glazing in winter does not fully protect against cold weather, providing indoor temperatures only 7-10 degrees higher than outdoor temperatures. Such metal cools easily and conducts heat just as easily. But if insulating the balcony is not the main purpose of glazing, then this method will do just fine.

    The cost of glazing a balcony with an aluminum profile

    If you decide to protect your apartment in winter from snow, sharp winds and dust, then glazing your balcony with an aluminum profile is one of the best options.

    The cost of glazing a balcony with aluminum profiles is not too high, but there are a few more nuances that will help you save:

    • The fewer turns and angles there are for aluminum profile structures, the lower its cost will be.
    • Self-delivery and dismantling of old frames will also help you save money.
    • The fewer sashes and additional parts, the cheaper the repair will be.

    Balcony glazing with aluminum profile photo

    Compared to PVC windows, aluminum balconies and loggias cost their owners much less.

    On average, their total cost is 1.5 times lower than the cost of plastic systems, which significantly saves the budget. The appearance of metal frames is in no way inferior to plastic ones, and sometimes looks even more respectable and interesting.

    Below are photos of balconies and loggias glazed with aluminum profiles in the final version.

    Nowadays, glazing of balconies has become an important and almost integral part of the renovation of any modern apartment.

    It makes it possible to significantly reduce the level harmful effects environment and, at the request of the owners, turn the balcony into an additional, quite convenient and comfortable part of the apartment.

    For these purposes, glazing using aluminum profiles has long been successfully used, which, taking into account the very affordable prices for all work, makes these operations very popular. The video will allow you to see in more detail how glazing of loggias and balconies is done with aluminum profiles.

    Pros and cons of glazing a balcony with aluminum profiles

    A significant contribution to this desire is made by a good window profile, namely, balcony glazing. In this article we will tell you about the aluminum window profile, which is very popular now.

    Advantages of aluminum profiles for balcony glazing

    1. Price.

      The most important advantage of such window systems is their affordability. On average, the cost of installing one plastic window is equal to two of the same ones made of aluminum. Even if you don't have a large budget repair work– you have the opportunity to significantly change the appearance of the balcony by glazing it.

    2. Lightweight design.

      The aluminum window profile is noticeably different in its lightness from other options, which is important for those who live in dilapidated houses in which there is a ban on heavily weighing the balconies.

    3. Fire safety.

      Glazing of balconies with aluminum profiles

      Aluminum will allow you to forget forever about the fear of spontaneous combustion of a loggia or balcony due to a cigarette butt thrown from above.

      If you wish, you can install a mosquito net that will move where you need it on invisible rollers.

    4. Space saving. Aluminum profile allows you to save some space through the use of sliding systems. Moreover, this will create convenience when using windows, ventilating, and washing glass.
    5. Noise insulation.

      By glazing your balcony with an aluminum profile, you will receive high-quality protection from noise from the street, as well as from moisture and dust. Along with expensive analogues, such windows will allow you to isolate yourself from the outside world, enjoy the peace and warmth of home comfort.

      Also, aluminum profile is a practical solution due to its durability. On average, such a profile can last about 80 years.

    Disadvantages of glazing a balcony with aluminum windows

    Sadly, the profile is not ideal. The first disadvantage is thermal insulation, i.e. the design does not retain heat well, which is a disadvantage for regions with harsh winter periods.

    This circumstance can be assessed from the other side: in cold times, the balcony can be used as a refrigerator.

    But for those buyers who are not satisfied with this, manufacturers offer a convenient solution - installing special liners, the purpose of which is to retain heat on the balcony.

    Second minus.

    You will not be able to use other materials in finishing, because this leads to the appearance of irreversible chemical reaction: Windows will begin to corrode and become unusable. But all other materials, which include decorative ones, perfectly complement this current profile.

    Can help significantly reduce window installation costs self-removal old wooden frames, as well as cleaning the room from generated debris.

    When monitoring the process of installation work Please note that a number of specific points are observed:

    – workers should under no circumstances allow aluminum structures to bend or bend;

    – the gap between the product and the window opening should be no more than 5.5 millimeters, or it should be covered with polystyrene foam, or, alternatively, with brickwork.

    To achieve quality installed windows on the balcony, and so that they can be used for a long time, make sure that the production technology is followed.

    This must be done by experienced people who have a special permit-certificate. In this case, the seller will be responsible for the product and will provide a warranty period.

    A very important point is that the installation seam is made with at least two layers of foam. Moreover, the second layer can be applied only 2-3 hours after the first.

    Then all seams should be treated with a sealing compound and covered with transparent butyl tape, which should protect against moisture.

    For many years, glazing balconies with aluminum was not practiced in residential premises due to negative associations with metal. But today such windows are practical, cost-effective and quite aesthetic without sacrificing functionality.

    We hope that the above information will be useful to you and you will definitely take these points into account when glazing your balcony.

    Aluminum windows to the balcony: installation in 10 steps

    A glazed balcony is comfortable, practical and warm. In addition, it appears in the apartment extra bed for storing various items. You can equip a study, a dressing room and a resting place on the glazed balcony. Having decided to glaze the balcony yourself, the first thing you need to do is decide on the material of the window opening. I will describe the pros and cons, types and features of aluminum structures.

    Advantages and disadvantages of aluminum

    Aluminum balcony frames have pros and cons, which you need to familiarize yourself with before installation.

    Advantages of aluminum frames:

    • Availability. The price of aluminum structures is several times lower than other window materials.
    • Light weight. Aluminum is a material that is lightweight, and structures made from it are light and to some extent airy. Window frames exert low pressure on the parapet, so they can be installed even in a dilapidated house. Plastic window frames They cannot boast of such a feature.
    • High-quality sound insulation. This effect is achieved by creating a sealed frame and completely closing the frames. Glazed balconies will drown out extraneous noise coming from the street.
    • Attractiveness. Aluminum can be easily painted in any color.
    • Care. Aluminum frames are covered with a special film that repels moisture. The product is easy to wash using fabric material. The film does not allow dust to settle on the surface in large quantities.
    • Durability and strength. Average service life is 30 years.

    Disadvantages of aluminum frames:

    • Insufficient thermal insulation. The average air temperature in winter on a glazed balcony rarely rises above +7 degrees.
    • Irregularities. If the prepared surfaces are smooth, then the sashes will be smooth. It is important to use a sufficient amount of cement mixture.

    Types of aluminum structures

    The most popular window frames:

    • "Harmonic".
    • Sliding window structures.
    • Lifting and sliding frames.

    The structure itself is an even rectangle, the movement of the valves along which is carried out using guides. Guide lines are installed at the top and bottom of the window structure.

    The position of the valves is changed using special rollers. The average sash width is 5 cm. All aluminum structures protected by special latches that prevent the glass from falling out of the frame even in very strong gusts of wind.

    I note that some aluminum frame options include special plugs. Plugs are necessary to protect the surface and balcony area from the formation of condensation and moisture.

    How to install aluminum windows

    Tools

    Installation balcony frames starts with preparation necessary tools. Here is an approximate list of what is needed:

    Photo Description

    Scrap

    This tool is used to dismantle old materials.

    Hammer

    It will be needed for driving dowels, as well as for adjusting frames and removing old balcony sashes.

    Chisel

    Tool for dismantling ebb and window sills.

    Roulette and level

    It is necessary to clearly define the dimensions and angles of inclination. Sliding sashes must be installed level, otherwise they will not open.

    Screwdriver, concrete drill and screwdriver

    These construction tools are essential for drilling holes.

    Foam or sealant gun

    Necessary for work on filling voids between the frames and walls of the house.

    Installation in 10 steps

    The process of glazing loggias with high-quality and functional aluminum frames takes just a few steps:

    Photo Description

    Step 1

    Aluminum profile windows can only be installed on a flat wooden surface.

    First of all, the wall is leveled and a wooden board is attached to it.

    The width of the board must correspond to the planned distance of the internal window sill and the width of the profile.

    Step 2

    Before installing the frame, you need to make sure that all aluminum elements are smooth and free of defects.

    Assembly can only be carried out after all preparatory work has been completed.

    Step 3

    On top part frame requires installation of anchor plates.

    They will not allow you to connect the profile to the ceiling part.

    The interval between the plates is no more than 40 cm.

    Step 4

    You need to install a window sill on top of the wooden board. If your balcony is of impressive size, then installation should be done by two people.

    Working together will ensure the installation is completed correctly and reliably. First of all, the window sill is aligned horizontal line. Self-tapping screws are used for fastenings.

    Please note that the window sill can be solid, or it can have two components.

    Step 5

    We install ebb tides. They contribute to the flow of natural precipitation.

    The first part is installed overlapping the next element. According to this principle, all the details of the ebb are assembled.

    Step 6

    Sliding sashes are installed on one balcony edge.

    The first component is inserted into the opening and securely fastened. It is important to secure both from below and from above.

    The position of the frames must be controlled using a building level.

    Step 7

    A second row of aluminum construction is being installed nearby.

    Fastening occurs using self-tapping screws and dowels of suitable size. The clamps are plates.

    Step 8

    The ceiling part of the structure must be firmly fixed. This can be achieved by placing the window frame under the visor.

    Fastening is carried out using self-tapping screws installed through anchor plates.

    Step 9

    All resulting joints must be treated with silicone-based sealant.

    Step 10

    The window frames must be strong, reliable and fixed. They must be mobile.

    The aluminum frame guides are secured using special fasteners that are included in the kit.

    The quality of installation of frames is checked by dynamically closing and opening the sashes.

    The installation of aluminum structures can be certified after all points of my instructions have been completed. All that remains is to remove the garbage and you can arrange the balcony room.

    Conclusion

    Aluminum windows are reliable, durable and attractive. And if you correctly assemble the structure, they will significantly increase the thermal insulation in the apartment.

    In addition, I suggest watching the video in this article and leaving questions in the comments.

    Many people do not plan to use a balcony or loggia as an additional room. But at the same time they want to make your stay on the loggia comfortable and protect it from rain and snow. It is for these purposes that aluminum loggias, also called cold glazing, have been developed.

    After glazing the balcony, you can perform “light” insulation with waterproofing layer. Thick penofol, coated on one side with foil, will be quite sufficient for these purposes. After this, problems with ventilation of balconies disappear.

    Advantages and disadvantages of aluminum glazing

    As the name implies, this glazing of balconies is made with aluminum profiles. Such windows are new for our country, so we need to talk about the advantages of this system:

    • First of all, it must be said that such structures are sliding. That is, they do not swing open like regular windows, but ride along the window on guides - special runners. This achieves significant savings in space, which is not enough on the loggia.
    • Such glazing with an aluminum profile is much lighter than PVC, which is very important for balconies. In some cases, you can do without reinforcing the parapet.
    • The lightness of the design allows for remote glazing of balconies, which increases the total volume of the room.
    • Many manufacturers offer installation with a tinted profile, the richness of the palette of which will allow sliding windows to fit seamlessly into existing design facade.
    • Aluminum's resistance to various aggressive influences and environments determines its durability in the open air.
    • Ordering a sliding frame that is not intended for thermal insulation will cost significantly less than a similar PVC window.

    Preparation

    The preparatory stage includes the following steps:

    • The first thing you need to do is remove old frame. All manipulations should be carried out carefully so as not to damage the integrity of the parapet.
    • Then all remnants of fasteners and other debris are removed.
    • The cracks formed during the dismantling process should be carefully sealed with mortar.

    Once the opening is prepared, the glazing can be installed.

    Installation of aluminum structures

    Before you begin installation, you need to perform some manipulations with the aluminum profile that will make it easy to install the sliding structure:

    • Needs to be removed sliding elements frame designs. This will make installation much easier.
    • It is necessary to remove the glazing from the fixed parts of the frame so that it does not break during installation.
    • Then mounting plates are attached to the frame in increments of no more than 70 cm.
    • The frame prepared in this way is installed in the window opening and fixed with wedges.
    • The frame is aligned on the planes, after which it is fastened through the mounting plates using dowels.

    Advice! During the fastening process, it is necessary to ensure that the frame does not “lead” or become warped. In some cases, you will need to loosen the fastening a little in order to adjust the plane with the profile.

    We install and adjust glazing

    Having securely fastened the frame, the previously removed glazing is installed in the fixed parts. Then the sliding part of the structure is installed; the guides easily allow this to be done.

    Now you need to adjust the sliding of the valves. This is done with special screws that control the smoothness of sliding. At this stage, fittings are also installed: handles, locks, etc. optional equipment. After this, the sliding doors close and move on to the next stage.

    Window sill installation

    Installation of this element is carried out in the following sequence:

    • It is necessary to adjust the window sill so that there is no gap between it and the frame. If necessary, the rear edge is trimmed.
    • Having adjusted, the window sill is removed, and polyurethane foam is applied to the place where it is installed.
    • After this, it is installed in place, aligned and loaded so that there is no movement.

    Sealing the structure

    Having completely assembled and secured the window unit, it is necessary to fill all remaining cracks and joints with polyurethane foam. You need to fill the cracks 3/4 full with foam, leaving room for the sealing material to expand. This operation will increase the reliability of the structure and prevent moisture from blowing through and entering the balconies.

    WITH inside all gaps between the frame and the walls are closed plastic platbands, giving the sliding structure completeness.

    Advice! Having installed the aluminum frame and foamed all the cracks, you need to let the structure “settle” until the polyurethane foam has completely hardened. After 24 hours, the sliding aluminum structure can be fully used.

    The installation of aluminum sliding structures is quite justified for glazing if there are no plans to attach a loggia or balcony to the total living area of the apartment. In this case, lightweight and cheaper aluminum profiles - optimal choice. At the same time, the space of the balconies is significantly saved due to the convenient opening of the window.

    Have you heard about cold balcony glazing? But many people do not know about this technology. Clients often come to our office and don’t even know that this happens.

    I really hope that many readers will take away from it useful information and will be aware of all the nuances when ordering cold glazing. Knowledge is power! Read.

    The term “cold glazing” should be understood as turnkey glazing of a balcony, where the installation process occurs without the use of a thermal insert, but thanks to aluminum profiles.

    The presented type of glazing is perfect for non-residential rooms.

    Cold glazing ensures that no noise from the street will be heard in the apartment, and also protects the rooms from rain, snow and freezing.

    Cold glazing can be carried out in the following ways:

    1. Glazing with aluminum structures without thermal inserts and sliding systems. This method is very convenient, because it allows you to save space on the balcony and you can open it by moving the profiles to the sides. In addition, this type of glazing is recognized as environmentally friendly, because it is made from materials that do not have negative influence on human health, as well as pets. Systems based on aluminum profiles are lightweight and will last for many years. Before installation, preliminary measurements should be taken. Then frame frames are made into which stele from 5 millimeters thick is inserted. You can even build a remote window sill to save space.
    2. Glazing with fixed or pivoting windows. You can install a mosquito net, because in the summer it can be hot and you don’t want flies and mosquitoes flying into the apartment.

    It is worth noting that cold glazing does not have thermal insulation. air bag, therefore the total weight of the system is lower and the load on the load-bearing surfaces is minimal.

    Cold glazing is used exclusively when the balcony is used only for storing things, because the temperature inside will be only 7 degrees higher than outside.

    Advantages of cold glazing

    • Low price for expenses and installation;
    • Significant space savings due to sliding doors;
    • The profile can be painted in any color;
    • All structures used during installation are fire-resistant, durable and strong;
    • Cold glazing is universal and will suit all loggias and balconies;
    • Protects the apartment from noise, snow and dust from the street.
    • Cold glazing is the most common option, because this way you can glaze all balconies and loggias. Sliding frames allow you to save the area of the balcony. The frames can be installed on a metal parapet and on a concrete or brick base.

    Aluminum glazing of balconies and loggias

    Cold glazing is an economical option for protecting the balcony from dampness, wind, snow and street dust.

    But an aluminum profile with single-layer glass does not guarantee high thermal protection. In extreme cold, the temperature on the balcony will not exceed 0°C.

    Cold glazing of balconies and loggias with aluminum profiles is the most a budget option protecting the balcony from dust, wind, rain and snow.

    The Forbis Windows company offers to order window structures directly from the manufacturer, which allows customers to pleasantly save on the arrangement of premises, receiving impeccably completed work, ready for long-term successful service.

    The cold glazing method has its advantages and disadvantages. Among the disadvantages is the lack of sound insulation. An aluminum profile and one glass are not an effective barrier to noise.

    Therefore, everything that happens on the street will be heard on the balcony. This point is important to consider if the apartment windows face a busy street. Also, cold glazing is not able to retain heat in cold weather.

    The balcony can only be fully used in summer. And in winter it can serve as an additional refrigerator. When it's -20°C outside, it's about zero on the balcony.

    Aluminum sliding glazing

    In all other respects, the aluminum profile shows excellent results. It is extremely easy to use, extremely durable, non-flammable, does not deform and does not change color over time.

    The narrow profile blocks out a minimum of light. The light weight of the aluminum structure allows you to install cold glazing on any balcony without prior reinforcement.

    This option is suitable even for “Khrushchev” buildings, where the balcony slabs are very weak.

    We use high-strength, semi-coated Guardian glass. Glass width 4 mm. Its transparency is higher than that of ordinary glass; it blocks excess ultraviolet radiation without reducing the brightness of sunlight or changing its shade.

    The balcony is filling up daylight and does not require additional lighting. This is especially important if you have a lot of houseplants.

    Ways to open windows

    Aluminum glazing can be solid, hinged or sliding. The sliding design is most often used: it saves scarce balcony space. This design is very convenient to use and has long term services.

    Advantages of aluminum glazing of balconies and loggias

    If you doubt the need to glaze balconies, just look at the list of advantages that this solution has:

    • affordable installation price;
    • saving space and creating additional space ready for year-round use;
    • reliability and durability of the profile;
    • high-quality protection from dust, wind, rain and snow;
    • light weight;
    • resistance to deformation and corrosion;
    • preservation of color and surface smoothness;
    • aesthetic and modern look structures;
    • wide variety of colors.

    If you do not plan to use the balcony in winter other than simply for storing things or food, then cold glazing with an aluminum profile will be an excellent solution to increase usable area housing.

    Cold glazing with Provedal profile

    Only cold glazing is performed using the Provedal profile. This is explained by the high thermal conductivity of aluminum.

    Aluminum frames do not retain heat well, and the small installation depth of the aluminum profile does not allow the installation of double-glazed windows. Single-pane glazing does not protect against heat loss.

    As a result, the Provedal system is not suitable for residential glazing in cold climates.

    Provedal aluminum glazing is optimal for rooms that are not insulated and are used seasonally. The choice of such structures is due to their low weight. Balconies and loggias have different strengths.

    Some are not able to withstand the significant weight of plastic frames. Aluminum frames weigh significantly less, are easier to install and do not require the preparation of a solid support.

    If desired, the aluminum structure can be installed directly on metal fencing balcony This system is also used for summer rooms: gazebos, verandas and terraces.

    Provedal profile catalog

    All types of aluminum profiles can be divided into two types: hinged and sliding. For swing systems p400, for sliding systems - c640. We'll talk about the differences between these profiles below.

    Swing system Provedal p400

    The P400 profile is designed for creating swing window systems.

    The design scheme is standard. The doors are attached to the frame using hinges and open into the room. The turning handle secures the closed doors.

    The Provedal p400 swing system is suitable for the manufacture of windows and doors. And also for hinged partitions and stained glass windows.

    • Single-chamber profile, 40 mm wide;

    P400 profiles are resistant to many negative factors. They perfectly withstand high and low temperatures from fifty degrees below zero to fifty degrees above zero, and sudden temperature changes.

    Profiles of this series are used to create glazing for balconies and loggias, doors, partitions in offices and some other structures.

    The surface of the profile systems is painted. High-quality paint protects aluminum from corrosion processes and makes the structure more aesthetically attractive.

    Paint is used broadly color range. It does not fade and retains its rich shade throughout the life of the aluminum structure.

    The p400 profile can be mounted in two ways: with the creation of blind and hinged sashes. The main advantages of this option are the possibility of combining fixed and hinged sashes, low cost and reliability of the fittings used.

    Products made from Provedal P400 aluminum profiles are durable and reliable. Their sound insulation characteristics reach 27 dB. The structure bears loads without deformation, cracks and other defects do not appear in it.

    The profile is resistant to oxidation and fire. The service life of the aluminum part of the glazing is eighty years or more. Since the window structure consists not only of a profile, its service life is shorter - about twenty years.

    Window frames made from the P400 profile are equipped with glass with a thickness of three to six millimeters. Double-glazed windows are not used in such structures, since there is no point in doing so. The main heat loss occurs through the profile itself.

    Window structures are equipped with seals. They are made from elastomers whose characteristics comply with the EPDM standard.

    Sliding system Provedal c640

    Sliding window structures are equipped with sashes that slide sideways along the frame. Movement is ensured by a special C640 profile and rollers that are hidden inside the frame.

    The hidden arrangement of moving elements allows you to protect them from moisture, dust and debris.

    The lack of water prevents icing. These rollers are very difficult to damage. randomly. Thanks to this feature, the design lasts for a long time in all weather conditions.

    The Provedal c640 sliding system is suitable for glazing balconies, loggias, verandas, terraces and partitions.

    • Single-chamber profile, 60 mm wide;
    • Seals comply with EPDM standard, color black;
    • Doors up to 1250 mm wide, up to 6 pcs.;
    • Profile color is white. RAL painting possible;
    • Glazing glass, thickness up to 6 mm;
    • Fastening elements are stainless steel.

    Straight profiles are connected using special elements. They are varied in shape, which allows you to create window structures for balconies of both simple and complex shapes.

    In addition to balconies and loggias, sliding aluminum structures are used for glazing terraces and verandas and creating office partitions.

    C640 profiles are equipped with five-millimeter glass or double-glazed windows no thicker than sixteen millimeters.

    The connections are sealed using special materials, including felt. Polymer elastic materials comply with EPDM standards. The doors are sealed with brush elements.

    The main advantage of the c640 profile is the possibility of using sliding structures and the associated space saving. Fixed and sliding sashes can be combined, and complex designs can be created.

    When installing structures from the C640 series profile, they are equipped with three types of sashes: fixed, sliding and hinged. The number of sashes should be no more than six.

    In this case, the dimensions of one leaf can reach a length of one meter and twenty-five centimeters. The weight of each square meter is twelve kilograms.

    Most often, the C640 profile is used to create structures with sliding doors. Such a product is equipped with no more than six elements that move relative to each other.

    Hinged doors are used in cases where it is necessary to increase the level of thermal insulation and tightness. The increase is from ten percent to fifteen.

    The most popular for glazing balcony spaces are precisely sliding structures. This is due to the greater ease of use on balconies and loggias of small area or width.

    To open swing doors, you need to free up the space in front of them. In a cramped balcony this is not always possible. In particular, the person who opens the sash would have to lean or crouch.

    Not everyone is capable of performing such actions. If you install a structure with sliding doors, the process will be simple and convenient. You can hang blinds on the windows and they will not interfere with the doors opening.

    The only drawback is less tightness, but for an uninsulated balcony it is not significant.

    We inform you that when we say “Provedal profile” we mean an aluminum profile for cold glazing. Spanish profile systems are not currently produced or supplied in Russia.

    All companies selling “Provedal” in Russia sell cold glazing from profiles produced in Russia, Belarus or China. Such profiles do not differ in quality and meet all standards and GOSTs.

    Insulation of a loggia with cold glazing

    In addition to spacious rooms, the new apartments have huge halls and corridors, storage rooms and dressing rooms. However, the Soviet past does not allow a single centimeter of usable space to be wasted.

    And in most cases, a person decides to glaze and insulate an existing balcony or loggia.

    Most new buildings are designed with glazed balconies. Most often, glazing of loggias is done using the cold method, i.e. using a sliding aluminum profile or a wooden frame with one glass.

    Cold glazing is a very economical option, but not optimal in terms of thermal conductivity.

    Therefore, there are always those who want to turn just a loggia into a comfortable additional room. The best result of insulating a loggia with cold glazing is achieved by insulating all parts of the room: balcony frames, floor, walls and ceiling.

    Window insulation

    If the room enters through the window frames cold air and moisture, additional insulation of the bindings is necessary. The best way is to treat the entire perimeter of the inner and outer sides of the frame with a special sealant.

    When installing balcony frames, polyurethane foam is often used. Over time, under the influence of aggressive natural factors it collapses, and as a result, cracks form.

    Floor insulation

    To insulate the loggia floor, it is most often used mineral wool, extruded polystyrene foam, otherwise penoplex and polystyrene foam.

    Mineral wool has excellent heat and sound insulation and is resistant to chemicals. However, in a number of European Union countries, various types of mineral fibers are prohibited for use due to their unsafety for human health.

    Polystyrene foam is also an excellent heat and sound insulating material. Non-toxic. However, it is easily destroyed when interacting with many chemicals, for example, acetone.

    The best option for insulating both floors and walls is penoplex. This material is very durable, has high moisture resistance and low thermal conductivity, and is environmentally friendly.

    Boards of the selected insulation are laid between the joists. The distances between the insulation and the walls must be sealed with vapor barrier film or tape, which will help protect the floor from mold formation.

    Insulation of walls and ceilings

    The walls and ceiling of the loggia are sheathed with 3-centimeter sheets of foam plastic, penoplex or material with similar characteristics. Using dowels, timber is attached to the walls and ceiling, set according to the level.

    Replacement of facade glazing

    In addition to glazing buildings under construction, customers are faced with the question of replacing facade glazing.

    Many facades built back in Soviet times (starting from the 60s of the twentieth century) have become obsolete, and at most have ceased to perform their functions as a result of wear and tear.

    Therefore, there is a need to replace facade glazing - either part of it (replacing double-glazed windows with energy-saving ones), or dismantling existing facade and glazing with a new facade system - Schuco or Russian.

    Also, the need to replace façade glazing also arises for a private customer - when it is necessary to replace cold glazing with warm one. This is a fairly common case; facade glazing is especially often replaced by people who bought an apartment in an elite building in order to expand their living space.

    Mostly in modern new buildings in Moscow and the Moscow region, building facades are glazed using the cold glazing principle, as a result of which residents are faced with the question of replacing cold glazing with warm glazing.

    The technology in this case is as follows - our specialists dismantle the old facade glazing, install new mullions and crossbars, install sashes, install double-glazed windows with low-emissivity glass, and finish the junctions. Then a container for removal of construction waste is ordered.

    Let's understand the difference between cold and warm glazing

    Cold glazing is intended for glazing non-residential premises, and warm glazing is intended for residential premises.

    Warm glazing in the profile itself has a thermal bridge to prevent heat loss (if we are talking about aluminum glazing, plastic glazing, or rather a plastic profile, even a 3-chamber one is initially warm).

    Warm glazing has a coefficient of reduced heat transfer resistance (Ropr (m2 oC/W)) higher than cold glazing.

    When replacing façade glazing from cold to warm, Rop increases to 0.54 m2 oC/W. For comparison, this indicator for plastic windows is 0.54 m2 oC/W.

    Now let’s figure out when it is necessary to replace cold glazing with warm one. There are three types of glazing based on thermal insulation characteristics.

    • Warm;
    • Warm-cold;
    • Cold.

    If you have warm glazing plastic system with double-glazed windows with energy-saving glass, or aluminum system with a similar double-glazed window and thermal bridge, then everything is fine with you!

    A warm-cold glazing system, as a rule, is a facade system (consists of mullions and crossbars, the double-glazed window is installed on the outside and is pressed from the outside with a clamping strip and a decorative cover), then to seal it it is not necessary to resort to replacing the facade glazing.

    In this case, the installed glass/glazing units are removed, thermal bridges are installed in the façade system, double-glazed units (if they fit the dimensions) with energy-saving glass are installed. If necessary, change the sealing rubber.

    Please note that these types of work are performed by industrial climbers.

    A cold glazing system is an aluminum window system consisting of an aluminum one-piece structure.

    When replacing facade glazing made in this system, such a system is dismantled (if possible), and a new, warm system made of aluminum or plastic (PVC) is installed in its place, depending on the customer’s wishes.

    Replacement of cold glazing in a solid glass facade

    But here's what to do if your facade is a single whole, starting from the first floor and ending with the last.

    Such a facade is hinged, that is, it is not built into the opening, but hung from the outside, and when one rack ends, the next one comes out of it due to the internal mortgage!

    Many companies you contact regarding replacement of cold glazing will refuse to insulate such a façade, saying that it is technologically impossible.

    And they will be right in their own way. The question is that when there is a need to replace cold glazing, many companies do not have a technological solution for insulating part of a cold facade with a warm one, but Deutsche Fasad has such a solution!!!

    To replace cold glazing, or rather to insulate part of a cold façade, we offer a number of solutions:

    • the racks at the bottom and top are insulated using insulation, thermal bridges are inserted into the racks, and flashings are installed at the bottom and top of your facade to prevent water from entering from neighbors. The appearance of the facade will not fundamentally change, despite the protrusion from common facade by 2-3 cm (if they tell you that after insulation the façade will not change at all, then this is not true, or rather it is true if you install a second strand of glazing);
    • Another option is to insulate the racks due to the fact that from the inside they are removed into plastic boxes, in place of the glass, plastic frames are inserted into which warm double-glazed windows are installed from the inside. In this option, the facade will be in one line, and the cold glazing will be replaced!

    Another way to replace cold glazing with warm glazing is to install a second strand of glazing. With this option, the original glazing does not change; this type of work is cheaper than replacing facade glazing, since there is no work for climbers and work on insulating junctions.

    The disadvantage of installing a second glazing line is that it reduces the space inside the room and is not the best internal view. The opening elements of the second glazing contour must be larger than the first contour and located at the same level.

    At the price of replacing façade glazing and replacing cold glazing with warm glazing, we are one of the best in the Moscow region. Our company replaces cold glazing with warm glazing without changing the appearance of the facade.

    Cold glazing of a balcony - why is the design popular?

    The desire of owners of apartments with a balcony to improve the loggia and protect it from prying eyes, rain and wind is completely natural. Currently being considered various options, but one of the most popular is cold balcony glazing.

    Selecting the type of glazing for loggias

    First you need to decide on a method that the best way suitable for glazing your balcony. There are two most known methods– cold, considered the most budget-friendly, and “warm” – using double-glazed windows, additional insulation walls and floor. Which option to choose is up to you, taking into account your own financial capabilities.

    But keep in mind that the “cold” option is considered the most economical and easiest to implement. We'll take a look at it now. To implement this method, it is optimal to use aluminum, which is characterized by good appearance, ease of use, strength and low weight.

    In addition, the use of aluminum assemblies makes it possible to speak about the fire safety of a balcony or loggia, in contrast to the sequence of other materials. And coupled with the low price, the aluminum profile is made good material for beautifying the loggia.

    Advantages and disadvantages of cold glazing

    Cold glazing has many advantages, which explains its popularity.
    The price of aluminum frames is much lower than wood frames, and even more so than double-glazed windows. As a result, both purchase and installation will cost you a very small amount.

    Light weight design

    For the most part, for this type of glazing, frames with sliding sashes are left, making it possible to more effectively use the free space on the balcony.

    The design execution of the structure remains yours, thanks to which you can choose any coating or color scheme you like, which will improve the appearance of the balcony. In addition, you can choose any glass that can be mirrored, tinted, or shockproof.

    Aluminum - environmentally friendly pure material, which does not emit substances that can harm the human body. Strength and Durability cannot fail to please, because aluminum is not subject to corrosion and can last for decades - only PVC windows can compare with them in durability.

    But we must not forget that every medal has two sides. Cold glazing of loggias and balconies has its own disadvantages. First of all, this is a low coefficient of thermal insulation, which is why it is quite cold on the balcony in winter.

    At low temperatures Iron sashes may appear to be icing up, and in summer condensation may appear on the windows. In addition, such structures do not provide 100% sound insulation.

    Cold glazing options

    Frameless cold glazing is divided into two types: aluminum, frameless and plastic. The last option is considered the most economical.

    Along with this, the window can be sliding or hinged. In case we are talking about sliding option, then in this case the frames will open to the sides, easily sliding along the rollers.

    This design can significantly increase the required area of the loggia.

    It is also possible to use plastic profiles. Due to the design of this profile, simple sliding along the rollers is ensured.

    By the way, a sliding plastic system retains much more heat than an aluminum one, while also being light in weight. The simplicity of installation is also pleasing: the frames are inserted into the prepared opening, and the cracks are sealed with polyurethane foam.

    There is also a frameless design that does not delay the penetration of sunlight due to the absence of ceilings. If you decide to go with this option, then it is best to buy tempered glass, which is characterized by resistance to impacts.

    The simplicity of installation is also pleasing - aluminum profiles are attached to the ceiling, parapet and shelf, and glass sashes are already attached to them.

    In addition to this, it is possible to do panoramic glazing, but this option is the most expensive.

    Cold glazing with your own hands

    It must be emphasized that the installation window profiles For cold glazing it is quite a simple job. But in order for the design to demonstrate all its own the good side, you must follow the instructions exactly.

    How to make cold glazing of a balcony with your own hands - step-by-step diagram

    Step 1: Preparing the balcony for work

    First of all, go to assess the condition of the loggia, remove all extraneous structures and strengthen the parapet, if necessary. If there are iron railings installed on your balcony, it is possible to leave them. The main thing is that the fence is as strong as possible and the top is without slope.

    Otherwise, the railings must be replaced.

    Along with this, all work related to the outer side of the fence is done before glazing, and after decorative works Refinement work begins at the last moment.

    Move 2: Measurements

    Entrust the work better for specialists, from whom you will begin to order the profiles themselves. And all due to the fact that mathematical accuracy is needed here - the slightest inaccuracy of even one millimeter will lead to problems during installation.

    During work, do not forget to worry about safety - buy a safety belt that can withstand up to 400 kg of weight. The optimal length of the cable is 2.5 meters.

    Once all the structural elements are delivered to you, assemble the frame and begin the work ahead.

    Step 3: Window Installation

    Install finished design onto the parapet and fix it with self-tapping screws and mounting loops to the slabs. We place the canopy under the mounting loops and fasten it to the plate using self-tapping screws.

    Next we make the ebb, which needs to be installed with outside. Along with this, the drain and visor should be treated silicone sealant, and seal the seams between the structure, the top slab and the balcony parapet with polyurethane foam.

    At the last stage, it is necessary to install the glazing itself with a blind sash and install strips (glazing beads), which will ensure a high-quality fit of the glass to the window frame.
