In a good way, to build a fire pit you need to use only masonry mortar with fire-resistant additives. It is better to completely cement natural stone using clay oven mortar. Post robust construction, you can also use a special glue designed for laying fireplaces and hearths.

Until the material hardens, the future fire pit is covered with flat stones in a circle. Using a trowel, fill the gaps between the stones cement mortar. Excess material residues are removed with a damp sponge.

Brick hearth

A piece of corrugated steel can be used as a frame for such a fire pit. The length of the folded sheet should approximately correspond to the circumference of the prepared pit with some allowance. Having folded the material into a ring, the edges of the segment are fastened with screws or bolted connections. Finally, the space between the ground and steel sheet filled with sand or fine gravel.

Wait completely dry solution. While the concrete mixture hardens, you can begin to sort the stone. Distribute it so that the large ones are in one pile, the flat ones in the other. Determine which stones you will use for the base of the fireplace.

Advice! Before you begin laying stones with glue, make a test laying of the first row. When selecting stones for the first row, give preference to a smooth and flat stone that does not have any irregularities or bends. When the foundation is dry, you can begin laying the first row of stones, using the Tetris principle. Important! The stone blocks should touch each other as tightly as possible.

When laying stone and brick, craftsmen advise leaving small gaps for ventilation. Based on my own experience, you don’t have to do this, since the size of the fire pit already provides air access.

When the work of laying stone and brick is completed, the bottom of the pit must be filled with fine gravel. As you use it, it can be easily washed or replaced with a new one.

So, the fireplace you made with your own hands at the dacha is ready, and the next step will be to check it.

Mandatory point: the thickness of the walls of the laid out material should not be less than 10, and better - 15 cm.

Concrete blocks are the most optimal choice, this is a combination of strength, ease of installation, and aesthetic factor. But often paving slabs and sometimes granite cobblestones are used as installation.

The material for fastening the structure is masonry mortar, which contains fire-resistant additives. But if you post a natural stone, it is better to use a clay stove solution. You can also use the glue that experts use to install fireplaces.

There will be a gap between the metal rim and the facing structure, which is most often filled with earth. But you can use sand or the same clay solution. Filling is necessary - it will prevent the accumulation of water (rain) and the inevitable debris that appears.

Places around the fire should be placed at a distance of 80 cm from the protective strip, otherwise sparks from the fire can ruin all the pleasure of gatherings.

Option 3. Corrugated steel fire pit

Also quite a popular option, an example of which you can see in the photo.

We will need following materials:

• the corrugated steel sheet itself;
• screws for metal (self-tapping);
• hacksaw;
• a circular saw;
• fine gravel;
• sand.

First, we cut out a piece of corrugated galvanized steel, the width of which will be equal to the height of the fire circle. The length of the sheet should be such that the circle turns out to be the diameter we need.

Then we cut out another piece, similar to the previous one, only with a larger diameter. The result is two metal circles that are to be fastened with self-tapping screws. Fill the space between the circles with fine gravel and sand.

Fireplace in the country - design features

It is ideal if you decorate not only the area with the remains of the fire with bricks, tiles or stones. This area can be expanded, and then you get a whole area for relaxing by the fireplace. Benches or chairs can be placed along its perimeter.
