Site design by henchmen. Do-it-yourself landscape design: options for decorating a site in the country. Country or forest

Car rims not only hold the tires and provide movement for the car, but are also part of its appearance, therefore, very high demands are placed on them. In case of the slightest deviation, the disks are replaced, because the cost of a new part cannot be compared with the costs that you will go to to eliminate the consequences of an accident due to a disk defect. Next, we will tell you how you can give a second life to these car parts and what you can make of them.

Disk handling

There are various types of discs, but the most popular are:

  • steel stamped and forged;
  • light-alloy cast and forged;
  • titanium cast and forged.

The former can be cut without any problems with an autogenous or plasma cutter, welded with an inverter and cleaned with a sandblaster. The latter can be cut and cleaned by any means, but for welding you will have to use a semiautomatic device with an argon cylinder. The third type of discs can be easily cleaned with a sandblasting machine, however, cutting it with any tools is not easy due to the high strength of the metal. To weld, you need a special inverter that produces a constant current of sufficient magnitude and cylinders of argon or helium.

A sandblasting gun with an air compressor and sifted sand is best for cleaning any discs. You should not clean the metal surface with solvents, because they cannot even completely remove the paint, leaving traces of oil and, moreover, will not cope with rust. Another advantage of the sandblaster is that after processing it, the surface of the disc becomes perfectly clean and does not require degreasing before painting. Always wear protective equipment, including goggles and a respirator when working with sandblasting machines.

For welding steel discs, any powerful inverter capable of working with 5 mm electrodes and producing up to 200 amperes of operating current is suitable. However, many people use electrodes with a diameter of 2-3 mm and a much lower current, because the weld is not subjected to maximum loads.

What can be done

Here's a quick list of what you can do with old rims:

  • sink;
  • bar stool;
  • flowerpot;
  • bake;
  • barbecue grill;
  • hose reel;
  • coffee table.

Light alloy wheels are best suited for creating a sink, but stamped ones can also be used. To make a sink, clean the metal of paint and rust, then weld all holes except the center one on the outside. For maximum effect, weld the patches so that they form a flat surface with the inside of the entire part. Then, first with a grinder, then manually clean and polish the inner side of the disc to a mirror finish. Insert the sink blank into the cabinet prepared for it and install the siphon. The faucet can be installed both in the place of the nipple and on the pedestal, as you like. It is advisable to cover the steel sink with powder paint or electroplate any protective metal on it, for example, zinc.

Bar stool

There are many ways to make a bar stool, but any of them will require a minimum of three sandblasted rims. In addition, you will need a round seat from a real bar stool, which you can either buy or make yourself.

To make a flowerpot, it is enough to turn the wheel disc, free of paint and rust, face down, set it on the ground and fill it with soil. If you are not satisfied with its natural color and you want to protect the metal from rust (only relevant for stamping), then cover it with powder or any other paint suitable for metal and outdoor work.

For this, it is advisable to use forged or stamped steel wheels, because light-alloy wheels are afraid of strong heating, and titanium wheels can be used more worthy. To make a stove, you need to put two steel discs on top of each other, turning them towards each other with their inner sides and boil at the junction, then cut a hole for laying firewood. The finished stove will need to be placed on bricks or stones so that air can pass between its lower edge and the ground without problems. If you cut several holes in the outer sides of both discs, then the stove can be placed directly on the ground, and a saucepan or frying pan can be placed directly on it.

To make a brazier you will need a cleaned disc and a matching grate made of a steel rod with a diameter of 7-10 mm. Weld the legs of a suitable length to the outer part of the disc, so that it is more convenient to work with the barbecue, and weld the simplest hinges for the lattice to the inner part, they can be made from a bar and a tube.

To make a table, you need a cast or forged light-alloy wheel with a beautiful spokes pattern and round glass with a thickness of 10 mm or more. Place the disc on the table with the right side up and using special glue. If you only have regular superglue, place the glass on the disc and use a marker to trace its outline along the outside of the glass. Then degrease the contact points on the metal and the back of the glass with any alcohol-based liquid.

After the alcohol has dried, quickly apply the glue to the metal surface in the contact area and on the back of the glass, and both adhesive layers should be 2-3 mm wide and completely symmetrical. Immediately lightly sprinkle the glue on the glass with baking soda and reinstall the glass by pressing lightly. Since you will only have one try, we recommend that you practice this operation thoroughly before applying the glue. Finally, remove the marker marks from the outside of the glass.

What does it take to keep warm and cook food without gas and electricity? That's right - make a fire. This is what our ancestors did, and for a modern person, safety and convenience are above all. To "secure" an open fire, they use stoves, barbecues, and stoves.

Why car rims?

Craftsmen always find non-standard solutions to their problems. Why invent something when you can buy ready-made? Stationary ovens and barbecues are not cheap, and the thickness of the metal in collapsible structures does not promise a long service life. Homemade rims have become an alternative. Their advantages are cheap and fast production, availability of materials, practicality and original design.

The discs themselves have the required thickness and fire resistance. The shape and size are convenient for further use of the product. The round shape is ideal for installing a cauldron.
Discs can be used to make not only a cooking appliance, but also a heating source for a garage or workshop.

General points and what is needed?

Despite the simplicity of manufacture, the implementation of the idea will require skills in working with a drill, grinder and welding machine.

Of the materials, you will need 1-5 discs themselves, an asbestos thread for insulation, metal trimming, a metal pipe for a chimney, metal corners or plates for legs. Fasteners and hinges.
The diameter of the discs can be any. Only if you make a stove under a cauldron, then you need to adjust in such a way that a cauldron with a round bottom is half lowered into the fire.
Let's look at several options from the most basic to more complex designs.
Cauldron oven: simple and fast for temporary use It will take several hours to manufacture. We take 2 discs, cut out the core at the top. Next, we weld the two parts, mark the contours of the future door and cut out the "window". We hang the cut-out metal door on the hinges.

In this version, there is no chimney and ash collection tray. But if the hearth is needed for a short period or season, then it may not be worth complicating it.
For convenience, the structure can be raised on high legs made of metal pipes of small diameter. The absence of a tray for ash makes it necessary to equip a fire-safe place. It is enough to remove the sod and cover it with bricks.

If you weld on comfortable handles and paint the finished product with heat-resistant paint, you get a noble stove for frying meat. A cross made of metal rods is welded to the hole in the bottom to prevent unburned coals from spilling out.

The bottom can be completely welded with a thick sheet of iron and all the cracks can be closed. In this case, all the heat will remain in the firebox. In this example, an interesting method for making a homemade loop. The door itself is made separately and then welded - so there are no gaps left for the smoke to escape.

Such work will take longer and require the skill of the welder, but the finished oven also looks presentable, and the cooking process will be more comfortable.

Brazier and grill from one car drive

An old disc can be converted into a stylish fireplace with a removable grill grate. It is enough to weld the legs, paint and make a metal grid in diameter.
A small-diameter disc with three high legs is convenient to carry to the desired place and put away for storage. It will take the most time to make a lattice with handles, although it is quite possible to choose a suitable purchase option and adapt it.
Before painting, you need to thoroughly clean the surface, and after that, do not forget about calcining. Compliance with the application technique will prevent paint peeling during further use.

For greater comfort, instead of legs, the old disc is fixed on a stand, which is screwed to a wooden base on wheels. In this case, the tree is treated with Danish oil, which can be purchased at a specialized knife shop.

An interesting, but more time-consuming version of a large-diameter disc welded to a rack with a suspended grid on chains, which, if necessary, can be replaced with a cauldron.

The hearth is under the cauldron according to all the rules: stage-by-stage manufacturing The manufacturing process includes the following main stages:
cut a hole for the cauldron in the upper disk (it is better to try on, so as not to be mistaken with the diameter), removing the central part;
we connect two disks by welding;
we cut out a hole for the door with a grinder and weld on the hinges (it is more convenient to make them before the hole is completely cut out);
weld the latch to the door from a cut piece;
we clean and paint the finished device with heat-resistant aerosol paint in a can in two layers; weld three pieces of metal pipe to the lower disc as legs; we fix homemade pens.

You can also improve the hearth-stand under the cauldron by adding a chimney and an ash pan. This design can be delivered anywhere.

Potbelly stove for a garage: a solid approach In this example, the firebox consists of 3 old discs, plus one for the ash pan and another one goes for smoke extraction, which increases heat transfer.

Stages of work:
we weld the disks together, having previously cut off the core in the first three, except for the topmost one;
weld 4 legs from metal corners;
cut out a hole and make a door from pieces of metal to size;
for the tightness of the firebox, insert an asbestos thread along the contour;
cover the top of the 4th disc with metal;
add the 5th disc at the bottom and make a hole in it for collecting ash and a blower, completely cover the bottom with a metal sheet;
on the side of the 4th disc we make a hole and weld on a pipe for removing smoke;
after polishing it can be painted over with heat-resistant paint.

In the example, the pipe has a 90 ° angle, which experts believe will cause frequent soot clogging. It is more practical to make an angle of 45 or 27 degrees.

It seems to many that creating an exclusive design of a garden plot with your own hands, as in a photo gallery, is something unreal. But this is not the case. Design ideas can be easily transferred to the local area of your own summer cottage or country house, creating a unique landscape with an atmosphere of harmony and comfort. A small, cozy garden or a luxurious park requires the same approach, both in terms of architecture and design, as well as in the choice of plants and space planning. Landscaping of a garden plot is a whole philosophy that unites nature and everyday life. There are many options for arranging a garden with an adjoining territory, among them you can always choose one that will fully meet individual needs. Style, harmony, convenience and simplicity are the foundations for creating a unique atmosphere necessary for a relaxed holiday and comfortable country life.

Design project

To create a landscape design on a garden plot with your own hands is not so much realistic as it is necessary, because today the dacha has ceased to be exclusively a place for growing vegetables. A country house is, first of all, a place where city dwellers come to take a break from the hustle and bustle, to admire nature, in a word - to relax.

There is absolutely no difference: 4, 6 or 10 acres are available. With careful planning, if you manage the space rationally, think over the design, even on a modest size of the site, you can create a landscape of stunning beauty.

Advice! When developing a design project for a garden plot on your own, numerous photos with ready-made solutions will help. Even if such a project cannot be fully implemented, you can always apply on your site especially liked ideas for arrangement or decor.

The outlines of the site should be transferred to paper, drawing up a detailed plan. After that, you can proceed to the allocation of functional areas - economic, recreation, decorative.

Advice! The purpose of the future site should be taken into account in advance: only decorative, combined with an economic one, or exclusively for recreation.

All zones need to be filled, based on their purpose, their own needs, the desired style. This stage includes the selection of vegetation, architectural details, arrangement of reservoirs, lighting, laying of paths and other communications.

Separately, it is worth considering the boundaries of each site, which will help hedges or lattice partitions entwined with ivy. Paths, an artificial reservoir, garden sculptures can be a good border. The main thing is that the division of the zones looks as natural as possible, without sharp drops or breaks.

Advice! The sloping terrain of the site often presents a lot of problems. But if you correctly organize the drainage system in the lower part, and divide the slope into several terraces, then you can achieve an amazing decorative effect, while dividing the entire area into functional zones in height.

Garden style

The success of the landscape design of a garden plot largely depends on a well-chosen stylistic solution. The style should not only take into account the size, features of the relief and the location of the backyard territory, but also emphasize the character of the owner. The differences in styles and their features are clearly demonstrated by the photo gallery, but before trying on this or that design for your site, it is better to study the features of each.

English style

Such a design is distinguished by maximum naturalness, lack of symmetry, and an abundance of greenery. The appearance of the site seems to have descended from the idyllic picture of a landscape painter.

Vegetation is matched to all types. There must certainly be a well-groomed lawn, deciduous trees, trimmed shrubs, lush multi-tiered flower beds. The latter are mainly composed of flowering plants and shrubs (roses, irises, cyclamens, oleanders, etc.). Trees should give a lot of shade, so willows should be planted along with fruit trees.

Such a solution will look best on a spacious area with noticeable uneven terrain, where a smooth lawn abruptly turns into hilly terrain. The space should be divided into a garden and a park area, connecting them with winding paths with benches in the shade of trees, ponds framed by stone.

Mediterranean style

The Mediterranean design is simple and all key elements are set around the patio. This patio is usually paved with stone, covered with wood flooring, and partly surrounded by a brick wall painted in white or terracotta.

The vegetation is represented by an even green lawn, bright areas are formed with the help of flower beds. A carved pergola (wooden or wrought iron), partially entwined with ivy, must be present, and thick curtains made of light textiles provide protection from the sun. The relaxation area with this design must be complemented with wicker furniture, a canopy from the sun, decorated with massive vases with bright flowers, graceful sculptures, and fountains.

French style

The French style will suit the owners of spacious backyards located next to a large stone house. This style is distinguished by luxury and an abundance of free space. The central element of the site will be a wide alley, along which neatly trimmed shrubs and trees are planted, antique statues and elaborate flowerpots are placed.

The main features of French design are symmetry, respect for proportions, clarity of lines, which can be traced throughout. It is definitely worth complementing the site with fountains in the classical style, artificial porticos, grottoes or labyrinths, columns, stone bridges. The garden should be at a level below the main building for a full view.

East style

The Japanese style is suitable for both tiny plots of 4 acres, and for an extensive backyard area. Minimalism and conciseness can be traced in everything: the absence of lush decor, flowering plants, complex shapes. There must be a reservoir around which large stones can be laid out. An island will look good in its center, which can be accessed through a wooden bridge without railings.

From vegetation, preference should be given to evergreen trees and shrubs, including dwarf ones. Maples and fruit trees add color to the garden in spring and autumn. The paths should be covered with gravel, large stones can be laid out in some areas, setting the pace of movement.

Advice! Instead of a flower garden, it is appropriate to set up a rock garden. In the evening, the site will be effectively complemented by built-in lighting.

The Chinese style will suit fans of the Feng Shui philosophy, which implies the harmony of all elements and the arrangement of decorative elements that provides freedom to the flow of energy. A pond should be located on the garden area, around which compositions of green spaces and stones should be placed.

A pagoda gazebo, bright wooden bridges, paths in the form of stairs, an artificial waterfall, a Buddha statue will emphasize harmony with nature. Be sure to plant bright flowers of red, yellow, purple shades, and also take care of an even lawn of dense grass or moss of a rich emerald hue. Bright orange lanterns hung along the paths and next to the gazebo will add color.

Garden design: objects

The landscape design of a garden plot always repels from any main object, which can be a residential building, unusual relief, trees, a neat lawn, etc. Taking into account their style and location, the site is supplemented with secondary objects, these include:

  • Green spaces.
  • Gazebos and architectural elements.
  • Artificial reservoirs.
  • Garden sculptures.
  • Lighting.
  • Tracks.

The final design should combine beauty and convenience, style and comfort. You should not try to place everything on the backyard at once. It is enough to limit yourself to the necessary and maintain the chosen style.

Green spaces

Landscaping is the most important element of garden design. Plants create a background for all other objects, fill the space with a special charm, uniting it with the surrounding nature.

Landscaping of the site includes a phased planting of the following plants:

  1. Trees and shrubs of various heights - create shade, delimit the site, highlight separate zones. In the walking area, it is best to plant low-growing shrubs or fruit trees that let in sunlight and form a comfortable environment, serve as an excellent framing for paths. It is recommended to plant coniferous vegetation in recreation areas, and willows or tall shrubs will look good next to water bodies.
  2. Flower beds should be broken up when the main landscape has already been formed. Plants for them are selected taking into account the size of the site and the flowering period of each species. Along fences or walls, vertical planting will look spectacular when the height of the plants gradually decreases. The shade of the colors in the background should be darker and richer than those in the front, which gives visual volume and depth. Alpine slides allow you to beat the existing relief of the site or create a new one.
  3. The design of buildings and garden objects with the help of vegetation helps to achieve the unity of architecture with nature. These can be all kinds of climbing plants that adorn the walls of arbors, steps and garden sculptures, as well as flowers or shrubs planted along the water bodies.
  4. The lawn will serve as an element that will connect all the zones on the site into a single whole. It must be neat and well-groomed. Any herbaceous plants, including flowering ones, can be considered as a lawn cover.
  5. Advice! The beds, if necessary, should be located in the economic zone. If the site is small, then it is best to design them not in a standard way, but in the form of a semicircle, which will help to more rationally use the available area, and visually expand the space.

    The design of a small garden area should be moderate, the abundance of flowers and plants can look heavy, "eat up" the usable area.

    Gazebos and architectural elements

    The main building on the garden plot is a residential building, but it does not have to be the central design element, and even more so the only place for leisure and recreation. In the design of the local area, much attention is paid to the use of all kinds of architectural elements that help to competently manage the space, make it more practical and comfortable. The buildings also serve as a spectacular decor, giving the site an aesthetic and habitable look. Among them are:

  • Gazebos and pergolas should be placed next to water bodies, in a park area. On a plot of 4 acres, it is appropriate to install a small open gazebo with lattice walls, placing it at a distance from the house. Such a building is best decorated with climbing plants or a group of trees. A spacious area can be decorated with a large pergola with textile curtains or a gazebo with columns located on the shore of a reservoir or among a cluster of trees.
  • A patio or summer kitchen simultaneously serves as an outbuilding and a resting place. Such a building is most often located in the immediate vicinity of the house or adjacent to one of its walls. In this case, the style and material of the building must match the design of the main building.
  • Bridges over ponds or ravines, as well as arches, help to effectively delimit the space on the site, while at the same time providing a smooth transition from one zone to another. It is recommended to plant tall plants near the bridges, and climbing vines or lush flower beds will complement the arch. The elements themselves can be either wood or stone, depending on the style of the site.
  • A recreation area must be present in the garden, regardless of its size. This place is best distinguished with wood flooring, stone slabs, or a neat lawn. The resting place should be equipped with benches and a barbecue, swings, a pool, etc.

Advice! Do not forget about outbuildings when decorating a site. They should organically fit into the overall style, if necessary, they should be covered with vegetation or a decorative hedge.

Artificial reservoirs

The presence of a reservoir in a garden plot can completely transform its appearance. Water makes the landscape dynamic, alive, refreshes in the heat, fills the garden with a serene atmosphere.

Thinking over the design of garden plots of 6 acres or more, you should pay attention to the construction of an artificial reservoir, the size and purpose of which depends on individual needs:

  • The fountain is ideal for small areas. A reservoir of this type serves as a source of constantly moving water, it can have any frame that fits into a variety of styles. With the help of a fountain, you can mark the center of the site or emphasize any part of it.
  • The waterfall will be an excellent solution for a garden plot with uneven terrain. Streams of water can flow down the stones of rockeries or alpine hills, forming a small pond at the bottom, framed by plants. A water mill and a decorative fountain can be installed in the upper part of the waterfall.
  • Ponds and circulating canals are ideal for large areas. Such reservoirs will add naturalness to the landscape, in addition, they can be used as a source of water for watering the garden. You can put fish, ducks into the finished pond, plant plants around it and install a gazebo. A reservoir of complex or elongated shape can be supplemented with a bridge that will connect different banks, continuing the paths.

Advice! The framing of the reservoir can be natural, in the form of a sand embankment or vegetation. Ponds and canals with stone framing look spectacular, which can be complemented by flowerpots with flowers or antique statues that eventually become covered with moss.

Garden sculptures

Spectacular accessories add zest to any site. The use of garden sculptures allows you to create an individual style, emphasize the character and features of the landscape.

Garden sculptures can be anything from antique statues to modern ceramic animal figurines. Greek or Gothic statues made of stone or metal will look good both in the midst of plants and on the shore of a reservoir. And bright ceramic figures will complement the flower beds or revive the recreation area, make the walk more interesting.

Another spectacular accessory is stone flowerpots, inside which you can plant flowers. Such decor can be made in any style from antique to modern, abstract. Sizes and shapes also vary, which allows you to choose a product for almost any area.

Tracks

Arrangement of garden paths will help to make the garden plot as functional and convenient as possible. These elements set the pace for the landscape, serve as its decoration, delimit the area and help to move freely around it.

The material for the tracks should be selected that is resistant to the effects of the atmosphere, temperature, strong and durable. Gravel, paving slabs, and wood flooring work best.

Advice! The smaller the area, the more winding the paths should be - this technique visually expands the space.

An obligatory element of garden paths is a framing, which can be curb stones, large cobblestones, tall vegetation, trimmed shrubs, etc.

Advice! Paths should be provided with a slight incline from the center to the edge so that water does not accumulate on them.

Benches should be placed along the paths in the garden area, which will make any walk comfortable. They should emphasize the unity of style, complement it. Benches can be stone, forged, wooden, with or without a back.

Lighting

When creating a garden plot design with your own hands, be sure to take care of the lighting. With the help of illumination, you can not only secure movement around the local area at night, but also emphasize the features of its design. Functional and decorative light sources in the garden can be:

  • Lanterns- they can be placed next to benches or along paths.
  • Wall lights - most often they are installed on verandas of summer kitchens, in gazebos.
  • Built-in lights and lighting - can be located next to any decorative element in the garden (under statues, along the fence, around the reservoir, under bridges and arches). The illumination of the lawn, which is provided by special lamps installed in the soil, will look spectacular.
  • Hanging balls and garlands - This type of decorative lighting gives the garden a festive look. With its help, you can create a comfortable atmosphere both in a small gazebo and in the open space of a recreation area. Garlands can twine around the trunks or branches of trees, buildings, creating a soft shimmer.

Do-it-yourself garden design will not cause problems if you take into account all the recommendations, and also correlate them with the existing conditions. A competent choice of style and filling guarantees an amazing result even in a small area.

In this article you can get acquainted with the main points of creating landscape design, as well as familiarize yourself with interesting examples and photos of ready-made solutions.

Any person who wants a little warmth and tranquility dreams of having a country house. And if you are no exception, then congratulations - your property can delight in its appearance. You can experiment by creating your own designs. If you are fluent in a computer and want to work with 3D images, then you have no price. You can use or come up with your own. The most important thing is the labor process, which should give you pleasure.

The main options for decorating the site include the following:

  • Choosing a flower garden;
  • Organization of green spaces;
  • Buildings - gazebos, baths;
  • Water;
  • Other decorative elements.

You can zoning the site of your summer cottage. To do this, you need to visually estimate the location of buildings. You also need to determine where the space for the lawn will be allocated, and where you need to plant a garden, lay out flower beds and make beds. Further, the places for rest and for the placement of decorative elements are determined. You may want to make a pool and put sun loungers, but this is all real.
The stages of decorating a suburban area are as follows:

  1. Choosing a place and type for buildings;
  2. Creation of plantings;
  3. Organization of the reservoir;
  4. Construction of gazebos, decoration;
  5. Organization of flower beds.

We carry out constructions

After zoning, you need to come to the second stage. This is a construction that can be done by hand. You can make a wonderful bathhouse, build a shower and a gazebo. If you have children / grandchildren, then placing a playground for children would be an excellent option. The landscape design of the suburban area is presented in different photos of people who made it with their own hands, so if you do not have enough imagination, you can use ready-made solutions.

Carrying out the buildings, you need imagination and, of course, strong man's hands, who have taken upon themselves the hard work of men. Being engaged in construction with your other half, this activity will become exciting and turn into a real family adventure. If you attract children and grandchildren to light work, then 100% rapprochement of your family is guaranteed! Indeed, in the process of such work, you can get maximum pleasure.

Turn on fantasy

Before you start laying paths, you need to decide on the buildings and important elements of the site. Next comes the construction of paths, and then - plantings. Tracks can also be made with your own hands, and imagination is your faithful assistant in this difficult matter. In order to make the trail, no heavy or supernatural elements are needed, it will be enough to turn on the work of fantasy.

If you had to dig a pit in the process, then after it there was a gray mound. You don't even need to think about where to put it, it can turn into a real masterpiece if you just want to. For example, thanks to her, you can create an alpine slide, and if the terrain allows, and there is water on the site, then you can put a slide with a reservoir, which will be decorated at your discretion. In general, the spectacle should be very impressive. With the right approach, the landscape design of the summer cottage will be like in a beautiful photo, taken in the most heavenly corners of the planet. Therefore, it is very important to competently approach its design.

Creation of green spaces

Landscaping involves the construction of green spaces. They sit down having decided on the main aspects that play an important role in the design. In order to maximize the greening of the site, it is necessary to prepare the site on which the lawn will be located. Cleaning is carried out by removing weeds, grass, stones. Next, the site needs to be dug up. The dug up soil is compacted using a special compactor. Further, the site in this form should stand for some time, the next stage is sowing.

Instructions for sequential actions when planting a lawn

If you want to make flower beds, rock gardens and microborders on the site, then we can congratulate you on the emergence of a flight for imagination. To get a beautiful picture, it is enough to turn on your imagination, perhaps in your country house there are objects that you will no longer use, and which can turn into a real miracle. These are plastic bottles, utensils, paints and old furniture in utility rooms. Perhaps what you were going to send to the landfill will be a great help in creating a uniform style on the site.

Pond execution

It is difficult to imagine a good and high-quality landscape design in the country without a reservoir. This could be a pond, a pool, or a small, attractive garden fountain. You can make such a reservoir yourself. To make a pond, you need to dig a hole in the lowland up to 1.5 meters deep and outline the contours of the pond using spray paint. The pond walls can be formed under a slope and covered with old linoleum. The edges of the pond can be decorated with stones or decorated with colored plastic bottles. As a result, you will get a small pond, and plant original plants along the contour.
Of course, we can come up with something of our own, the main thing is to be guided by ingenuity and features that have a plot. A beautifully made landscape design of the suburban area is presented in the photo, which displays all the originality and incredible beauty of your own imagination. Creating a design is not easy, but if you approach it correctly, we will achieve excellent results.

Choosing a flower garden

There is a variety of options for arranging flower beds. A beautiful flower garden, bordered by an original border or other structure, should look very original. If you want to plant flower beds bordered with borders, then for these purposes it is better to choose low crops, the height of which is no more than 40 cm. For such purposes, flower and deciduous ornamental crops are grown. These can be hosts, coleus, Byzantine chastets and others. This option is advantageous in comparison with other crops.
The main function of the border is to frame the landscape element, which must have clear contours. If this kind of flower garden is used to decorate the lawn, its borders can be indicated by means of decorative border tape, which allows you to keep the shape and does not allow the plant to grow. If you make the right choice, then the landscape design of the summer cottage will show itself as in the most beautiful photos taken abroad.

Mixborder

The landscape design of a summer cottage, a photo of which can reflect any ideas, should have some special features. To give it such features, a mixborder is often used - one of the popular types of summer cottages. It is a mixture made up of a wide variety of perennials and annuals. And it is designed so that its decorative properties are preserved throughout the season. This type of flower garden can be located along the fence, the wall of the house and along the sidewalk path made with your own hands, but there is no uniformity and strict geometric meanings, which, in fact, is the main feature of the mixborder.
Typically, the width of the mixborder is between 1.5 and 4 meters. If it contains tall plants, then they are planted behind. The basis of this flower garden is represented by perennial plants. The grouping of flowering and deciduous plants is carried out taking into account the timing of flowering, as well as the color of flowers, so that it is in harmony with the color of other flowers. The entire flower garden can be either contrasting, or have additions of some colors to others.

Stony gardens

This type of flower garden is quite popular, and the options for creating are endless. The owner of a summer cottage can make such a structure on his own, choosing the most suitable option for himself. In such a situation, you need to focus on the terrain and on the style features of the garden. Of course, the personal preferences of the gardener, which are important to focus on, are not ignored either. If the entire site is located on a slope, then the construction of retaining walls and the arrangement of terraces will be a practical solution. Sometimes you can combine these options with each other.
If you want to complement a rocky garden with something incredible and original, then you can make a stream or a waterfall, and the combination of flower beds with such elements is common and wonderful. Running water will look very attractive against the background of boulders. For a rocky garden, you need to correctly and carefully select stones, otherwise it can become a heap of cobblestones. Therefore, it is better to give preference to the most common breeds in your area. Combining stones of different sizes and shapes wisely can make the composition more original.

A cozy beautiful dacha with a well-groomed garden and vegetable garden is the dream of every city dweller. Fresh vegetables from the garden, flowering flower beds, barbecue and garden chairs are simple, but so important components of a summer cottage. And everyone who has at least a small area can get it. Arranging your own summer cottage is a fascinating creative process. But it requires preparation and adherence to a plan. Then the dacha will turn into a real paradise where you can relax alone, with your family or invite a noisy company of guests.

Where to start the arrangement: preparatory work

Before proceeding with the arrangement of the garden plot, it is imperative to draw up a plan. A chaotic tree plantation cannot be turned into a beautiful garden. And if you do not foresee in advance where the recreation area will be, and where the beds are, you will get a useless use of space.

Preparation for building a summer cottage begins with a plan, and before that a preliminary inspection is carried out. It is necessary to investigate the site, study the parameters and take into account its features. The main criteria are the location of the house and the relief. If there is no house on the site yet, the task is simplified. For future construction, you can choose the best place.

If you have a house, you will have to adjust the location of the garden, vegetable garden and recreation areas. The gentle terrain will also simplify the task. With strong changes in the relief, you will have to choose one of the possible solutions: alignment or use as the main feature and "highlight" of the site.

Drawing up a plan for a summer cottage project

It should be remembered that the plan is not drawn up in advance without visiting the site. When developing a primary plan, the main factors affecting the location of individual zones are taken into account:

  1. Buildings that are already present on the site. The house is a central building, from its location they are repelled when they plan to place a recreation area.
  2. The boundaries of the site, the location of the entrance and the entrance. It is important to consider the type of gate: swing or sliding. It depends on how much additional space will have to be allocated so that the gate can open freely.
  3. Communications. The plan shows: water supply, electrical cable, gas pipeline, sewerage. No trees should be planted near the lines of communications, therefore it is important to accurately display them on the plan.
  4. Plants. It is necessary to divide trees and shrubs into groups: those that cannot be transplanted and they will remain in place, those that can be transplanted and those that can be cut down.
  5. Soil type. Loose clay soil requires additional strengthening of the foundations of buildings and the allocation of space for a vegetable garden and flower beds.

When placing a plan-scheme on paper, you should strictly observe the south-north direction. On the sheet, hut is at the bottom, north is at the top.

Dividing the site into zones

There are obligatory zones: house, garage (if you have a car). The rest are selected depending on personal needs and preferences. Most often, suburban areas are placed:

In addition to the standard zoning, additional decorative zones can be placed in the country house, for example, a winter garden. But this is possible only in large areas with a relatively flat relief.

Ideas and ready-made solutions: mandatory components of a summer cottage

A traditional Russian suburban area, where it is comfortable to relax, must have a house, a bathhouse and a garage. The bathhouse should be located so that it is not visible from the street and as close to the house as possible. It is convenient to place a brazier and a gazebo next to the bathhouse. If the site is large, a flower bed or flower garden is usually set up next to the gazebo. A place is allocated for the garden in the lower zone of the site, behind the gazebo.

Fruit trees are planted behind the house, grouped in the left or right corner. It is better not to stretch the garden and plant them in a square. The main decorative elements must be placed on the side of the facade. Ideally, if you manage to break the flower beds under the windows or at a distance, but so that they can be seen from the windows.

Budget minimalism: how to cut costs

Your budget may be limited, but you don't have to hold back your imagination. You can save on registration by using:

You cannot reduce the budget for building materials. This is an imaginary economy: cheap materials are short-lived and you will have to regularly make repairs so that the finish does not lose its original appearance.

Entrance part: door finishing

The door and the space around it are responsible for the first impression of the cottage, therefore, it needs a special design. Most often, the doors and the fence are decorated with climbing perennials.

But if the fence does not allow this, you can get by with hanging flower pots. Other popular decoration options include trimmed trees (planted on either side of doors) or lanterns.

Backyard: arrangement of free territory

Setting up your backyard provides the greatest scope for experimentation. Here you can create a "wild garden" by planting ornamental plant varieties. You can also equip a pond or an embankment area. The backyard with a flat relief is ideal for arranging a field for active games: football, basketball, table tennis.

How to arrange a resting place

Verandas and gazebos are considered as the main types of recreation areas. The veranda can be open (without walls) or closed (with dense walls, covering the site from wind and precipitation). The type of veranda depends on what kind of rest the owners of the cottage are accustomed to. For those who like to spend evenings on the veranda, a closed type with windows is more suitable - this will allow you not to give up your favorite pastime even in winter.

The open veranda allows you to have tea drinking only in summer.

The gazebo is actually a separate open veranda. It is a small structure with a solid roof and carved walls. The gazebo does not shelter from the cold, but copes with the rainy weather. This type of recreation area is suitable for those who like to spend time outdoors, surrounded by greenery.

Garden and vegetable garden in the country

It is impractical to plant a large garden in the country. Fruit trees take up a lot of space, and you can harvest a sufficient amount of crops from several trees, subject to regular maintenance. For a classic garden, it is enough:

  • 1-2 apple trees;
  • 1 cherry;
  • 1 pear;
  • 1 sweet cherry;
  • 1 peach;
  • 2-3 currant bushes;

A strawberry bed and a small area with raspberries will be a good addition. It is better to choose varieties that bear fruit 2 times per season. Ornamental shrubs or trees are an optional element; it is more practical to replace them with weaving perennials.

A country garden is a space for imagination. But it is important to consider 2 points: the shape and location of the beds and the neighborhood of individual plant varieties. Square beds are not convenient: they take up a lot of space, and it is difficult to process them - it will not be possible to reach the center from the edge. Better to choose oval or oblong beds. Light-loving plants should be placed closer to the center, and those that love shade and coolness should be placed closer to the fence.

Tracks: layout principle and shape

The location of the tracks must be foreseen immediately, at the stage of drawing up a plan-scheme. The main paths lead from the entrance to the house, from the house to other buildings and along the central garden alley.

Tracks cannot be drawn based only on their own aesthetic views. All curves should be motivated and natural looking. Having drawn a path on the plan, you need to rotate it and see if it overlaps with others. There should be no sharp corners at the intersections, it is desirable that the intersections are proportional. The maximum permissible slope angle is 12 cm by 1 m. If the relief difference is greater, you need to make steps.

The material for the track is selected depending on its purpose: basic, walking, decorative. The more often it is supposed to walk on it, the stronger and more durable the material should be.

MAFs and other decorative elements: how to decorate the site

MAFs (small architectural forms) include decorative elements that have no practical function, serving only as decorations. LFAs include:

  • fences;
  • conversations;
  • flower beds;
  • bridges;
  • rotundas;
  • benches;
  • monuments;
  • awnings;
  • hedge.

For the manufacture of MAFs, wood and sculptural material are used. You can create them yourself or buy ready-made in horticultural stores.

Country fence decoration

Various decorative elements are used for decoration: lamps, decorative stone, garden sculptures. Herbal garden decorations include ornamental trees, flower beds and ampelous plants. Experienced gardeners recommend choosing the latter.

Ampel flowers are called flowers with a long stem, which are planted in hanging pots. Unlike hedges, they are mobile: the pots can be moved or removed at any time. Popular ampelous plants include surfiniya, lobelia, petunia.

Decoration of flower beds and flower beds

A simple and profitable design method is the “calico garden” technique. For its creation, perennial flowers of contrasting colors are used. They bloom almost simultaneously and delight the eye all season. The shape of the flower bed can be any, but it looks neater oval. The frame of the flower bed must be delineated: with brick, stone or slate.

Original alpine slide with conifers

An alpine slide is a type of flower bed that has several levels. Decorating it with conifers is an original idea that allows you to create an almost eternal flower bed in one season. For an alpine slide, decorative thujas and spruces, junipers are suitable. You should not choose tall plants: they will spoil the structure of the slide.

How to equip a small plot

To visually make a small area larger, you need to use space curvature techniques:

  • light colors;
  • smooth lines;
  • more lamps;
  • minimum of plantings.

It is better if the fence is not solid, but lattice. This will add lightness and light to the site.

How to harmonize a long section

If there is no house on the elongated section yet, its placement is planned at the far end of the section. Trees and flower beds are planted in front of the house. Outbuildings are taken out to the fence, placing them on one side. The path from the gate to the house should be winding. The central part of the site can be left under a lawn or beds with low-growing plants can be set up. It is better to move all tall stands to the fences.

Closed type has 2 subtypes: with horizontal closeness and vertical closeness. In the horizontal version, the inspection of the space is partially difficult and is covered only from above (for example, loose tree crowns). The vertical version closes the space with "walls" - tree crowns, shrubs, grating. All structures on the site belong to a closed type of spatial structure.

Open type Is a plane not occupied by volumetric elements. These include: reservoirs, lawns, flower beds with undersized plants, paved areas. An open space can be closed (surrounded on all sides) or reversed (closed on one side).

What are viewpoints and what are they for?

A viewpoint is called a site on which a person stands, examining a landscape painting.

Viewpoint Is the center from which the view opens. When a person moves from one zone to another, the viewpoint changes. But the landscape painting itself remains intact. Select the central viewpoint (from which the entire area is viewed) and points in each zone. Additional points most often include:

  • garden gate;
  • porch of the house;
  • recreation area.

Having identified the center of the landscape painting and the main points of view, you need to check how they are combined. From each point, a view of the accent should open: a building, a tree, a decorative element. If they are not there, you need to add these elements to the plan.
