Zoning the living room with a sofa. We make the correct zoning of the room into a bedroom and a living room (90 photos) - decoration and design. Advantages of room zoning

Whatever rooms are adjacent to the same room, they must be properly and tastefully decorated. Zoning rooms is a sensitive issue that involves many nuances. How to properly zone a living room and what to pay attention to first - read on.

Many designers inspire their clients to make changes in their interiors. After all, there are so many ideas for dividing rooms that it’s impossible to count them all. An excellent example The zoning of the premises is modern restaurants, where the boundary between the lounge area and the dance area is very clearly drawn. Moreover, these zones do not conflict with each other in terms of style. In most cases, they are made in the same style and there is a certain element of space division in them. It could be a step decorative curtain, fencing made of fresh flowers. Of course, the living room is private apartment– this is not a restaurant, but it is quite possible to adopt some ideas from restaurant designers.

When it comes to designing a zoned living room, it is important to pay attention to the ownership of the other half of the room. Is this a living room, office or kitchen? Depending on the chosen room, you can provide certain options for solving the problem. The most convenient option for combining rooms is a living room plus a kitchen. When receiving guests, you don’t need to go far for treats, and if something happens, you can easily go to rest in another room.

The main advantages of the living room-kitchen are as follows:

  • The illusion of large space;
  • Functionality of every square meter;
  • The hostess has more time to communicate.

There are also disadvantages:

  • there will be a smell of food in the living room;
  • Cleaning the kitchen happens more often than cleaning the living room; if the rooms are combined, the entire space will have to be cleaned.

If the decision to combine the kitchen with the living room is made, you should pay attention to the following design tips. Using a large amount of red and orange shades for the living room-kitchen will provoke an increase in appetite. To avoid provoking the housewife to consume extra calories, it is best to decorate the living room-kitchen in beige, light yellow, brown or white colors.

Opposite you can put a cabinet with shelves and space for a TV. Everything should be in harmony in color with the walls. Shades may differ by half a tone. In addition, zoning the living room-kitchen can be done using a bar counter. It is perfect for separating the living room and kitchen and will not distract guests from the conversation. The bar counter is ideal for storing dishes and can save space on bedside tables and shelves. The color of the counter should match the color of the walls in the kitchen and the shade of the tiles on the floor.

Seating area in the living room: how to design

As a rule, the seating area in the living room-kitchen is the place where people watch TV on soft sofa, play with children, look at family albums, etc. Therefore, it should be somewhat different from the design of the second half of the room - the kitchen. One of the interior options for the living room-kitchen is a white and beige option. Where white is the color of the kitchen, and beige is the color of the living room. Warm shade furniture in the recreation area promotes relaxation and communication.

If there is a window in this area, it is worth choosing light beige, milky or coffee-with-milk colored curtains made of loose, but not transparent fabric.

Let them flow and add airiness to the design of a divided living room. If the size of the room allows, you can install a set of furniture: a big sofa for guests and a closet wall with space for plasma. This will give some comfort to the room. Big room allows you to pay attention to accessories. A fluffy white or milky carpet, a lamp with an original design and a mobile coffee table will look good in the relaxation area. This style design will suit for lovers of classic design.

If the windows in a room are positioned so that they illuminate only one part of the room, you should try to divide the room so that each part is illuminated equally. To increase the light, you can place a mirror in front of the window. full height or glass cabinet. IN narrow room, which does not allow placing a large number of furniture, you should mark the boundaries of the kitchen and living room using kitchen cabinets, flooring or bamboo curtain.

Living room zoning options: interior and main nuances

The division of the living room is increasingly carried out using sliding walls. This division system is quite simple and economical. The most suitable materials For this purpose – glass and plastic. If you are creating a partition between the living room and bedroom, the glass should be frosted and opaque. An openwork partition is suitable for a small room. It is made to order from any material and is perfect for separating the living room and kitchen.

Dividing a room is possible using upholstered furniture. Most often, a large sofa acts as a partition, which is placed next to the light or with its back to it. A divided room opens up some possibilities for experimenting with color combinations.

For large room combination is acceptable bright colors, like yellow and blue, red and white, orange and brown.

Using bright colors you can highlight a particular area of a room or wall. IN one-room apartment Zoning can be done using curtains, drapes or partitions. It is best to choose light natural fabrics that will carefully hide your personal space from prying eyes.

Zoning: walk-through living room and its functions

Most often, the living room in small apartments is a passage room. Few people will make a walk-through bedroom or office. A walk-through, soft living room can keep guests inside and prevent unwanted persons from entering the bedroom or office.

The walk-through living room is decorated in the same way as the living room-kitchen. It should be cozy and stylish.

The functional space of the walk-through living room depends on the footage of the entire room. If there is little space, then only the most necessary pieces of furniture should be placed in the living room, and it is desirable that they be transformable. What concerns can there be about space if a sofa can turn into a bed for guests or an unnecessary bedside table can be hidden into an armchair at the touch of a button.

Spacious room: zoning of a large living room

A large living room combined with a kitchen can be zoned using a podium. The ideas of dividing space by raising one zone are quite new and have been used recently. If the living room is on a raised platform, you can place a sofa with built-in storage drawers there. This will save space on the shelf for CDs and books.

A podium division of a room cannot have any disadvantages within a spacious apartment.

The location of the high zone is such that guests will not be disturbed by the fuss in the kitchen, the play of pets, etc. In the large space of the zoned living room, tall flowers in pots, decorative tall lamps, decorative coffee tables, and any bright accessories will look good.

Zoning a narrow living room: narrow does not mean cramped

The easiest way to create a zonal division of a narrow living room is to use different finishes walls and floor. Most designers offer the option of finishing the hotel area with bright, saturated colors, and the kitchen area with calm, cool shades. The floor in the kitchen area can be made of tiles to match the walls, and the hotel area can be covered with a carpet that matches the color of the furniture and walls. Interior decoration options may vary.

As you can see, there are a huge number of ideas for the interior. Choosing suitable design, you should pay attention to the size of the room and your budget. After all, repairs cannot be completed, they can only be stopped.

Living room zoning options (photo)

Zoning a room into a bedroom and a living room is often done in two cases: when the room is too large and it needs to be visually made smaller and more comfortable, and vice versa, when the room is too small, but it needs to accommodate both a living room and a sleeping area. In any of the two options, the solution to this problem is zoning the space.

There are several ways to zone space:

  • Usage various materials for device additional walls. Most often in such cases, drywall is used. It is quite easy to use and it is relatively simple and easy to install additional partitions or fences;
  • Wall decoration different colors and textures. This technique allows you to visually divide the room into zones using painting, plastering and wallpapering;
  • Separation using furniture.

Such a multifunctional interior, which includes both a bedroom and a living room, can be represented in two types: studio bedrooms and transformable bedrooms.

The project of a combined bedroom with a living room can easily be converted into a studio bedroom, which is one space that includes a bedroom, living room and kitchen. All partitions from such a room are removed. Everything is zoned only various designs walls and furniture. Thus, the walls in the kitchen area are decorated with tiles, smoothly turning into plastered and painted in colors that are in harmony with the color of the tiles. The plastered and painted area can serve as a living and dining area. It is better to place it in the center round table and a hanging lamp above it. In the corner of the same room there is a large corner sofa and TV. Here you can lie down, watch TV, and sleep. It turns out to be such a unique bedroom and relaxation area at the same time.

Decorating a bedroom with a living room in a transformer style is possible when the room itself is small in size. Then all furniture should be equipped with transformation mechanisms. So, in the morning, the bed should easily turn into a closet, and back in the evening. A small sofa can become an armchair in one motion. Typically, such pieces of furniture are placed on a special podium, with the help of which everything can be easily transformed. To further define the living room, you can place a fireplace here, a small coffee table and a couple of chairs.

This option for decorating a bedroom with a living room is more suitable for young people, because not everyone old man will be able to unfold and fold the bed every day.

Separating the bedroom and living room with a partition

Using a ready-made or homemade partition to divide a room into a bedroom and a living room is perhaps one of the most common methods. Even a small partition will save you from the need to construct a full-fledged wall in the right angle rooms.

Depending on the material, partitions have many advantages. Plastic options convenient from a decorative point of view: many stylish partitions are sold different colors and forms.

A glass partition will not change the perception of free space: your room will be perceived as light and free. And partitions made from more durable materials are useful in that they can also be used as storage space: they often have niches and shelves for books and accessories.

Remember! The selected partition should not distort the brightness of the room. If it blocks the lamps, think about installing additional light sources. In some cases, it will be appropriate to install lamps inside the created structure.

A universal method - zoning a room into a living room and a bedroom with plasterboard - is suitable for everyone. Since this material is quite lightweight, such partitions can even be moved around the room. Drywall can be cut to the right size, and also rounded or cut into shapes consistent with the overall design.

Often, drywall is covered with wallpaper or decorated with imitation materials, for example, to look like brick, to make the bedroom and living room look even more unusual.

Take a look at the photo of the zoning of a room of 18 square meters. m glass partition. It is not necessary to draw or cut out patterns on such a surface: even solid clear glass will perfectly complement any modern interior. In addition, glass harmonizes with all materials and colors.

Solution for a room with a high ceiling

If you are lucky and your room has high enough ceilings, the bedroom area can be constructed on a mezzanine. But this method is one of the most expensive and difficult to implement, since you will not only have to create a durable and solid foundation under the bed, but also to build a ladder leading upstairs.

However, in modern interiors The popularity of this method of zoning is only growing. Moreover, it is now possible to design each zone in its own way: differences in styles or colors will not be noticeable, but everyone will appreciate the creativity of the idea.

Remember! When selecting a bedroom area on the mezzanine, it is necessary to consider the lighting features. Ideally, the light should turn off from several points at once, so that you can adjust the lighting from both above and below.

Zoning by color

To create stylish design When zoning a room into a bedroom and a living room, do not forget about the combination of shades. Moreover, this method is also often used to decorate rooms with different purposes.

Color zoning can be achieved by selecting harmonious finishing materials. Most often, wallpaper or paint are used for these purposes. Since each area of the room will have absolutely small area, it is better not to give preference to too dark tones.

You can decorate only one or two walls to create an accent in blue, brown, gray, dark red and other rich shades that are popular.

On other surfaces, you can use colors such as yellow, pink, blue, light green, white, lavender, beige and many others related to the pastel palette.

To make each area of the room immediately catch your eye, select colors from the same palette with varying degrees of saturation or opt for contrasting options: green and brown, blue and blue, red and White color.

Advice: to color zoning was perceived more successfully, reinforce the effect with partitions or other structures.

When zoning a room with wallpaper for the bedroom and living room, it is important to maintain the same style. For example, wallpaper with large classical ornaments will not combine with modern abstraction, but will look impressive when complemented with stripes.

You should not use an excessive amount of patterned ones in the interior. wallpaper coverings: Make one of the zones monochromatic.

Another example of zoning a room into a bedroom and a living room is the use of furniture in different colors. For example, a sofa, coffee table, wardrobe and other elements of the living room interior can be decorated in natural colors close to brown, and the bed can be decorated with a bed of a more saturated shade.

Furniture placement options

Decide immediately what pieces of furniture need to be placed in each of the functional areas. The standard “set” for a bedroom is a bed and bedside tables with lamps. The living room will accommodate a sofa or armchairs, large equipment, bookcases and wardrobes. Each of listed options furniture can be used for zoning.

For example, if you are planning zoning square room to the bedroom and living room - visually separate each space using a bed with high back. It is this backrest that will serve as a kind of partition between the rooms.

Many people prefer to place the sofa directly opposite the bed, even if it does not have a backrest. This method is also great for interiors of all shapes and sizes. In addition, it will allow you to watch TV without getting out of bed.

If you are looking for a radical solution to isolate the bedroom area, use any large closet. It is better to have sliding wardrobes facing the bed, as they will act as a dressing room.

Bookcases are most often turned the other way or made hollow so that books and other items can be reached both in the bedroom and in the living room.

Advice: plasterboard partition with many niches will serve as an excellent alternative to expensive cabinets.

You can visually separate the bedroom and living room with the help of a small table placed in the center of the room. But most often in interiors that combine several functions at once, there is not enough space for such furniture.

Your personal comfort will depend on the chosen method of zoning, so immediately think about what your interior will look like after the transformation.

You don't have to be a professional designer to learn how to use space efficiently and get the most out of any room layout.

Now you know how to get closer to creating a harmonious and stylish studio room that combines a bedroom and a living room at the same time.

By zoning a room, you can increase the functionality of the space, make it more comfortable and beautiful. The delimitation of the room creates several functional zones that differ from each other.

When working with an area, the main goal is to create comfort, as well as to arrange private areas (as is the case with studio apartments, for example). Individual zones optically correct the room, increasing or narrowing its space.

In order for the room to become practical and cozy, you need to correctly use the available elements and design technologies. Here's how to zone a room with your own hands, without involving specialists:

You can start zoning the room as soon as all the recommendations are taken into account. The process begins with drawing up a preliminary drawing. They are made by hand or using a program.
First, all windows and doors are marked on the drawing, then large furniture, then tables and chests of drawers, smaller cabinets, and after that the details are drawn.

Advice! If the furniture will be used to divide the space, you can contact a salon that offers designer services. The specialist will give advice on improving the initial concept.

The plan should clearly indicate the types of partitions or arches used (consider their thickness, as well as the position when using transformable partitions).
Using computer program for design, you can look at the sketch from all sides, evaluate the height of the elements, and consider the nuances of the decor. The programs are also attractive because they can be used to assess the level of lighting using a particular type of chandelier. Using a computer it is easy to create the simplest zoning of any room.

Methods for zoning a room

When delimiting space in a room, various decorative and functional details are used. Preference is given to practical elements, especially if they are furnishing a small room.

The best way to properly divide areas is to use useful large-sized items: sofas, shelving, cabinets. More can be used fresh ideas- various partitions.

Dividing space with furniture

An interesting solution is to install a dressing table with a large mirror in which the opposite wall will be reflected. With its help, the space expands and creates 2 zones perfectly separated from each other.

The TV stand can be placed in the middle of the room if it has brackets. Then the screen can be easily rotated in different directions. In this case, the sofa will stand in the opposite direction from the bed.
Another way is to install shelving and sofas with their ends facing each other. On one side there will be a place for relaxation, and on the other - a bedroom or dining room, depending on the chosen space. A good option for zoning a rectangular room.

Important! When using furniture as parts to divide a room, you can save a lot. Designer partitions and various curtains in small apartments take up too much space

It’s good to use a corner sofa to divide the space, and if you put a screen or partition along the side dividing the room, it will work beautiful interior without being “weighted down” by massive shelving and stationary walls.

You can use low chests of drawers or end-to-end cabinets, with vases or other decorative items placed on top of them. The zoning of a square room should be thought out so that the details do not divide the room into too elongated rectangles.

Zoning a room with additional structures

Except standard options– cabinets, cabinets, sofas – for zoning the room, choose more interesting designs that give certain style. They take up little space and emphasize the concept of the room more than they have practical properties:

If you add light and finishing materials that differ from each other to the objective division of space, you can turn one room into zones that are completely different in style and practicality.

Zoning with light

Light - The best way emphasize the interior design of the room and create laconic zoning.

Advice! If you plan to provide lighting in the living room combined with the bedroom, you can place continuously adjustable spotlights along the edges. Make a bright light source in the area of the sofa or desk, next to the bed - soft floor lamps or lamps.

When placing lighting in a room, there are some rules to remember, especially if we're talking about about the bedroom-living room:

Modern design solutions- This is spot lighting for the floor or walls, which looks good in the bedroom. In the recreation area, when decorating large rooms, muted light sources are also used: sconces, floor lamps with canopies, led chandeliers with step adjustment.

Decorative zoning using finishing materials

Finishing materials are perfect for renovations with subsequent zoning of space. Use parts to decorate the floor, walls and ceiling:

Wallpaper zoning comes in two types: vertical and horizontal.

Advice! Use carpets, both wall and floor, for small areas. They will create comfort and highlight functional space.

When dividing space horizontally wallpaper choose 2 tones - lighter and darker, paste on the bottom dark version. However, the horizontal zoning method is more practical and looks better.

When zoning a small room, fewer details and large elements are used. You cannot install cabinets, racks and other wide objects across the room. It is advisable to choose subtle details with a minimum of design solutions (patterns, textures, different shades, dark colors).

The main goal when arranging small functional areas in a small room is to save space:

  • use narrow wall shelves that use a minimum of space and are convenient for storing various things;
  • instead of TV stands, choose flat panels with wall mounting - this will help solve the problem of large bedside tables and modular walls;
  • use transformable furniture – The best decision for small rooms. This category includes beds built into a closet, transformable ottomans and tables.

Modern furniture offers many solutions for zoning small spaces.

Living and dining room

You can connect the reception area with the dining room in small studio, and in a huge penthouse. This convenient solution, which helps create a special atmosphere that is not like being in a regular kitchen.

The easiest way to divide space is to use rectangular table. In small apartments, this approach will be ideal, since no additional furniture will be required for zoning. Here are some tips for choosing a table:

The table is placed so that it is as close as possible to the kitchen if it is in the dining area. The dining area should not be located in the center; it is best to place it close to the kitchen area.

How to choose furniture

Chairs and tables should match both the design of the living room and the interior dining area. If general direction design - minimalism - then the furniture should be like that. Without decorative elements and an abundance of flowers.

Choice of colors

When arranging a living-dining room, it is necessary to choose an adequate combination of colors. If it’s difficult to decide on a combination of shades, pay attention to the classic tandems:

These solutions look organic in almost any design. However, in the kitchen you should give preference to restrained tones, exclude Orange color causing a strong appetite.

Advice! Colors finishing materials can be neutral - beige or white, and zoning is arranged using textiles, carpets, and furniture.

You can divide zones more fundamentally: by different wall materials or by changing the level and texture of the ceiling. Used for zoning and different lighting. In the dining area it can be spotty, muted, and in the living room it can be bright, created with the help of chandeliers and hanging lamps.

Appropriate to use various finishes floors, as well as partitions: wooden, glass, plastic. Partitions can be stationary, sliding or mobile.

Living room and bedroom

You need to start zoning a room into a bedroom and a living room by planning the arrangement of furniture. Then they think about ways to light the room and use tricks to expand the space.

Advice! If in small room there is a lot of large furniture, then it becomes uncomfortable. Try to use a minimum of cabinets and cabinets. No chairs needed.

Sliding doors - compact solution in the division of space. You can use a wardrobe if the room is not too small. If added to sliding elements mirrors, they will significantly expand the space.

A sofa that turns a room into a living room can transform into a comfortable bed. In this case, zoning the room into a bedroom and living room will not be necessary; it will be enough to separate the recreation area from the workplace.

Decorative partitions separating the bedroom from the living room can be replaced with a functional shelving unit.

Advantages of room zoning

Proper zoning of a living room combined with a bedroom, dining room or children's room makes the space more functional. Among the advantages are:

When creating a zoning project, you can choose the most convenient options for each family member: a small technical corner for the son, furnished in a loft style, or an oriental relaxation area for the mother.

Interesting design solutions for room zoning

Unusual ideas for interior design and room decoration can be gleaned from unusual sources. They create unique solutions:

There are many options for zoning space. The main thing to remember is that there should be details in moderation. If you carefully approach the development of the primary project, you can avoid any mistakes and oversaturation when implementing the idea.

The room used for receiving guests is the face of your home. Its interior is very important, because it is what represents to people who first appeared within these walls how you live. However, often in modern world We cannot allocate an entire room for a living room. It often turns out differently, and several functional areas are forced to cram into one room at once.

Such a neighborhood can be inconvenient. On the other hand, it can also become an incentive to create truly interesting and original design living room with zoning. To do this, you just need to intelligently approach the combination of different functions in a single space.

Design techniques for delineating different zones

Eat different ways visually divide the space so that its parts are independent of each other, but at the same time continue to work as a single whole. The most commonplace of them is the installation of a decorative partition or its analogues - screens and curtains.

If you look at the solutions of professional decorators, photos of zoning living rooms often reveal another ingenious method. It is appropriate to use some pieces of furniture as a kind of dividers. For example, a wardrobe, sofa, bar counter, table can act as such a delimiting element.

And finally, zoning is perfectly carried out without any barriers at the physical level, exclusively by means of contrasting finishing and lighting. Artistic solutions based on these techniques are often very expressive.

Use of decorative partitions and their analogues

Such a partition can be as neutral as possible, only fulfilling its main function of separating one part of the room from another. In this case, it is permissible to use a sheet of plasterboard, a simple screen or a curtain.

The main requirements for the separating object in such a situation will be monotony, matching its color and texture to other surfaces in the room.

However modern designers interior designers are not afraid to experiment with bright, unusual, eye-catching elements.

A decorative partition can not only divide, but also serve as decoration for the room, act as a visual accent, and set the tone. In this case, it is permissible to use stained glass windows, light openwork partitions, walls made of bamboo stems and much more.

Nowadays it is popular to include plants and plants in the artistic design of the living room interior. floral ornaments. However, for some styles complex geometric patterns are better suited.

Furniture as a tool for zoning a room

As mentioned above, a sofa, table, wardrobe with open shelves, bar counter. This option for zoning the living room is good for its practicality.

The object, which is necessary from the point of view of a decorative design solution, will also be actively used during the operation of the premises. Things will be stored in the closet. Sit on the sofa. And so on.

Dividing space with contrasting finishes

This technique involves using different facing materials. This way you can highlight some of the areas of the hall, while others, on the contrary, can be made more neutral. Use expensive, damage-resistant coatings exactly where needed.

An area for receiving guests is often allocated bright colors. It is also appropriate to use more active textures, such as wood or stone. On the contrary, it is better to decorate the kitchen and bedroom with light, monochromatic paints.

Organization of lighting as a way to delimit space

Of course, each part of the room must have an independent group of lamps. It is irrational to illuminate the space above the bed if you spend time in the company of friends. It is unnecessary to turn on the light above the soft corner when you are busy preparing food. And so on. In any case, the lamps will work for visual differentiation different parts rooms.

However, this effect can be enhanced by using lighting of different intensity and warmth in different functional areas. Or arrange the lamps so that they visibly display the border. For example, strip LED backlight, tracing the ceiling above the area that you want to highlight as independent, will clearly and unambiguously indicate its contours.

What is appropriate to combine the guest area with?

The most common zoning of a room into a bedroom and a living room. A little less often, the latter is connected to the kitchen or dining room, or both at once. These are the options that should be considered as the most preferable.

Basic rules for zoning the living room and bedroom

In a situation where you are trying to harmoniously combine these two functions in a room, it is better not to use contrasting finishes. It will most likely not be enough to successfully separate the zones. Because one of them is characterized as active, and the second belongs to complete peace and tranquility. They interfere with each other. It is worth separating them at the physical level.

Partitions, curtains, and cabinets with open shelves are perfect here. Something real that you can touch with your hands. A single finishing style, on the contrary, will connect the room in this case, preventing it from falling apart into its components.

The proximity of the reception area and the kitchen

This combination is played out in very different ways. The only condition remains that the front space in this case should be more active than the place for eating. You can use different techniques to zone the living room and kitchen.

But in any case, the kitchen requires an easy-to-clean floor and wall surface that is resistant to temperature changes and moisture. And the living room goes well with carpets, wood, and wallpaper. What is good for the cooking area is not very suitable for the guest space. And vice versa.

Contrasting cladding can be combined with other methods of dividing a room. It works great together with decorative partitions or furniture. Very often a bar counter is used as a delimiting element.

Combination of living room and dining room

These two features work great together. Their combination within one room is not only harmonious from a visual point of view, but also convenient. Both zones are needed for a group of people to spend time together.

From a design point of view, a certain freedom is allowed in connecting these two spaces. You can use any of the methods listed above to differentiate them - or even several of them together.

Of course, there are more exotic combinations of functions. For example, connecting a guest area with a library or bar. And in the currently popular studio apartments, all functions are combined in a common space - sometimes very harmoniously.

Photo of living room zoning

Living room zoning - current problem for most small apartments. And this is not surprising, because in one small room you need to place several zones at once without limiting the comfort of the owners. But there are often full-size apartments where you simply don’t want to build walls.

An example of this is lofts - ideally zoned “open-space”, in which, using various techniques, designers manage to achieve the integrity of the entire apartment at the same time as privacy zones for all residents of the apartment. Armed with these ideas, we have prepared techniques for competent zoning of living rooms.

The most popular living room zonings:

  1. Living room and bedroom - the bedroom will always be closer to the window, since by definition sleeping area should be away from the entrance.
  2. Living room and kitchen - the placement of both areas is strictly according to your taste, although it is preferable to place the kitchen near the window so that it is convenient for the hostess and there is enough light to prepare food.
  3. The living room and dining room are two full-fledged units that should have enough space and space in a single room.
  4. Living room and office - the office can occupy a very small corner, the main thing is to install additional source Sveta.
  5. A living room and a children's room is the most unconventional combination, since, as a rule, parents give up their room to the child, but this still happens. In this case, you need to think through everything carefully and it is better to separate the children's part with partitions so that the child has the opportunity to fully rest.

There are several most common living room zoning techniques, which we will discuss in detail below.

Zoning with furniture

This is the simplest and affordable way combine the functions of several functional areas in the living room. A large and comfortable corner sofa will accommodate guests during the day and become a cozy bedroom in the evening. For greater intimacy, you can use screens or mobile partitions. This is especially convenient where, in addition to the sofa, there is also a relaxation area consisting of armchairs and a table, and when someone is tired and wants to sleep, he can safely go to rest, while communication and gatherings can continue at the table. Of course, we are not talking about soundproofing, so those who are awake will have to talk more quietly than usual.

Zoning with partitions and mobile walls

These techniques are very good for separating a small bedroom from the perimeter of the living room. You can order special mobile structures that will fold and unfold very easily, thereby “shaping” the walls at the right time. The best materials for these purposes are glass, plexiglass and plastic. In order to hide unnecessary things from prying eyes, you can hang light curtains on the partitions.

We included another zoning technique in this category - the use of small island walls. Their length is usually 1.5-2.5 m. As a rule, on one side of such an island there is a TV stand, or another wall structure - a cabinet, rack, shelves, paintings. With the help of such a small wall, there is a clear zoning of the room.

Openwork partitions

This design group is more decorative in nature, but nevertheless gives a clear sense of the boundaries of space. Such partitions can be made of wood, metal, plastic and any other materials, and are more like designer small ones architectural forms, but often openwork partitions form an ensemble beautiful shelves or whatnots.

Niches and cabinets

These furniture elements help to zone the space very well. According to the principle, the higher the cabinet, the more obvious the separation. That is, if you decide to divide zones using small niche or cabinets, place some long objects on it - vases with flowers, desk lamp or statues. In combination living room-kitchen the best divider would be a bar counter.

Podium

One of the most successful ways to divide space into zones. Of course, only suitable for rooms with high ceilings, but where it exists, the boundaries of one and the other zone are immediately clear. If a bed is installed on the podium, the podium can be arranged inside drawers for storing bed linen and various seasonal items; ventilation and other communications can also be hidden in the podium. The idea with a podium is very well implemented in large, spacious apartments, where the designer planned to create a single space.

Different finishing materials

Usage different materials finishing gives a clear idea that we have two different zones. That is why designers often use this technique for zoning, because here, on the principle of stands in a furniture store, two independent parts of one whole - the living room - immediately appear. There is another interesting trick - you can lay the same material in a different direction, but this only applies to tiles and floors made of small components. To further isolate one area from another, place different rugs on the floor.

Zoning with light

Light plays a key role in final finishing interior and that is why the division of light will immediately emphasize the boundaries of the zones. For example, in the evening you sit at a table above which there is a light large chandelier, and at this time the bedroom area is not illuminated, which means you can rest peacefully there. And it’s immediately clear that if you hang only one light source in the living room, it will not be enough for a room in which there are several zones, or there will be not enough light in one part, and there will be an overabundance in another. Spotlights in the case of zoning rooms will be for you good help. Hang a chandelier above the main area, and place a composition of spots in the additional area, or vice versa.

False columns

False columns are a convenient attribute for zoning any premises, but most of all they are suitable for the living room - all because of the somewhat solemn significance of these rooms. You can install copies of antique columns, after passing through which the second zone of the room will open to your attention. Or build a large column that will resemble something like a chimney pipe, or a small false wall. In any case, you can win some space, which will give you the opportunity to place another zone.

In the photo below, the technique with a column is successfully used. It is neither big nor small, but precisely the size that allows you to slightly hide the dining area.

Furniture arrangement

Place furniture from different areas with their backs facing each other. One of the most cost-effective, simple and quick ways The arrangement of zone furniture with backs to each other was and remains to delimit the living room. Or in other words, so that people in different zones sit with their backs to each other. This technique is based on basic knowledge of psychology - “if I don’t see, then it doesn’t exist.” That is, if you don’t see people doing something nearby, you don’t notice them.

In this way, you can place about three different zones in one room. Naturally, distances must be maintained, and there must be boundaries of at least one meter between zones. Arranging furniture with its back is also well suited for large open spaces in lofts and open-space apartments.
