The fact is that the construction of the pile foundation does not allow sandstone finishing, so the question immediately arises - how to close the pile foundation from the outside. For me, this question was quite interesting, because it is simply necessary to close the basement from moisture and cold, and you also need to arrange the bottom of the building. But if a brick foundation can be finished with sandstone, what solution can be found here?
Why come up with such a complex foundation, for which it is also difficult to pick up the finishing later - you ask. But a screw foundation is the only optimal solution for unstable and heaving soils. It is the screw foundation that is able to penetrate to great depths and provide reliable support for the house. And the choice of finishing the basement is quite possible with the help of such material as professional sheet.

This material appeared as early as 1820 and is very widespread in the construction industry. The profiled sheet is made of galvanized steel using cold rolled products, after which it is subjected to the creation of the required shape - trapezoidal, wavy. This is done more for stiffness than for beauty. Professional sheet is a unique material used in the construction of new buildings and the renovation of old ones. Usually, screw foundations are used in the construction of light houses, for example, wooden ones. Therefore, the decorative finish of the screw foundation must be in harmony with the wooden elements. Fortunately, I found imitation stone in the variety of profiled sheets that go well with wooden houses. It turns out an imitation of a completely natural, natural home.

Sheathing a screw foundation is not difficult, so I took it myself and adhering to the following scheme, I did an excellent job:

• For the base of the sheets, I made a wooden crate, having previously impregnated the parts with an antiseptic solution.
• To avoid deformation of the sheets under the influence of heaving soils, I left a gap between the ground and the element. To do this, I made sanding at the junction of the earth and parts to a depth of 500 mm.
• The very fastening of the sheets to the wooden crate I made with self-tapping screws. To avoid dents, I tried not to tighten the fasteners too much.
• I covered the joints of the material and the corners with additional elements.

So, with a little effort, you can revet your foundation yourself.

You can decorate the basement of the house with various materials that can reliably protect the upper part of the foundation from getting wet, solar ultraviolet radiation, and mechanical damage. Usually, brick, clinker, masonry or siding is used - polymer or composite panels that imitate masonry in a high quality.

All types of cladding are available on the construction markets. Before deciding which material is best suited for the architectural style of a cottage, the following factors must be considered:

• the protruding base will have to be additionally protected with ebb tides;
• flexible shingles have a minimum layer thickness, which can be used to glue over a concrete surface;
• the brickwork maximizes the construction of the basement;
• inside the frames on which panels, siding or corrugated board are attached, you can lay insulation to eliminate heat loss through the ceilings, floors of the lower floor;
• frame systems by default have greater maintainability, they can be updated at any time of operation.

Advice! It is better to decorate the protruding base before facing the facades, in order to hide the upper fixing shelf of the ebb, if necessary, under the finishing material of the wall.

Brickwork

To cover the base with a brick, it is necessary to make a separate base for masonry. On heaving soils, for this it is necessary to replace 40 cm of soil with crushed stone and / or sand, compacted in layers.

Unlike a concrete foundation, this facing material has half the life in contact with the ground. On top of the underlying layer, roll waterproofing is required in 2 - 3 layers. To completely eliminate the subsidence of the brickwork, a rigid bond with a plinth is used:

• after laying 2 - 3 rows in the supporting structure, blind holes are drilled to a depth of 4 - 6 cm;
• 6 - 10 mm reinforcement is inserted into them, connecting the main wall with the cladding;

It is recommended to use ceramic bricks, slotted, hollow stone or hyper-pressed modifications. Laying is carried out exclusively in spoon rows in half a brick. To eliminate the cold bridge, which is essentially a basement structure, basalt wool or extruded polystyrene foam can be placed between the facing brick and the supporting structure.

Important! The insulation must be docked with the thermal insulation of the facade or brought along the upper part of the basement inside under the layer of wall cladding in the absence of thermal insulation.

Clinker

You can decorate the ground part of the foundation of the house with clinker tiles. The budget will be approximately equal to the cladding brickwork. However, this material has some advantages:

• the maximum possible service life of all known linings;
• the presence of ready-made corner (external / internal) elements;
• wall mounting, no need for your own foundation;
• insignificant loading of the load-bearing frame due to the low weight of the clinker;
• high artistic value of the decorative coating.

There are different types of clinker tiles that imitate masonry, torn, rocky, polished stone. Therefore, you can choose a basement design option in full accordance with the architectural style of a private cottage.

Clinker tiles are fixed with glue, panels made of this material are attached to the frame. The first option does not allow insulating the ground part of the foundation, the second allows you to install expanded polystyrene inside the crate.

Advice! There is a clinker tile for steps, which allows, when finishing with the same base / plinth material, to achieve the maximum aesthetics of the perception of facades.

Polymer sand tiles

An inexpensive option for finishing the basement of a house is a polymer-sand composite, from which tiles of various formats are made. This material is very light, practically does not load the foundation structure, it is attached either to the frame lathing or to tile glue.

The texture usually imitates natural stone or brickwork. The material is moisture resistant, with a minimum coefficient of expansion, resistant to solar ultraviolet radiation, aggressive environments and mechanical damage. The tiles are cut with a hand hacksaw in any direction; you can choose any format to reduce cutting waste.

Important! There are no filler pieces for this cladding, so a precise fit at corners and fillets is required.

A natural stone

If there is a cheap natural stone in the region, you can decorate the basement of the house with this material. This option is more suitable for buildings with seasonal residence, in which external insulation of the underground and aboveground parts of the foundation is not required. Heavy material is planted on mortar or tile glue, significantly loads the power frame of the cottage, it does not hold on to the insulation.

Granite, gravel, dolomite stone has high strength and moisture resistance. However, when facing, many mortar joints are obtained that do not initially possess the indicated characteristics. Therefore, finishing costs increase for the purchase of grout, which ensures the waterproofing of the joints.

Important! The stone cannot be fixed on the frames, therefore, the maintainability of the facing is zero.

Fake diamond

Of all the modifications of artificial stone, concrete slabs with a decorative outer layer are usually used for finishing the basement of a house. To improve the characteristics, the material is modified with moisture-resistant additives, colored by weight to increase the wear resistance of the front surface.

Fastening of artificial stone is standard - an adhesive layer after the foundation has been treated with a primer. This cladding can be used with all facade coatings. Integration into exterior and architectural style is high by default.

Tiles, porcelain stoneware

To finish the basement of a house with tiles or porcelain stoneware, you will first have to level the surfaces. The thickness of the adhesive layer should not exceed 1 cm, modifications can only be used for external work.

Plaster

The budget option for finishing the basement of the house is traditionally the leveling of surfaces with plaster, putty solutions. However, these materials require protection from moisture, additional decoration. Therefore, they are painted with water-based, dispersed, acrylic, acrylate and oil compositions.

The same materials are used in wet facades, as they are quite firmly adhered to expanded polystyrene or basalt wool when using reinforcing meshes. Therefore, the basement of a building with seasonal use can simply be plastered and painted, the basement of a permanent residence is better to insulate and plaster and cover with decorative plaster.

Vinyl plinth siding is a better choice for a building on a tight budget. Despite the name, this material is often used to finish the entire facades from the outside. For example, a budget "frame" can be completely sheathed with basement siding, giving the dwelling the architecture of a brick cottage.
