Screws for fastening plastic windows. Anchor plate for plastic windows, installation of windows on anchor plates. Basic mounting elements

Installing a plastic window involves using special materials, devices and tools. PVC windows are firmly fixed to construction market. Every year their designs are improved, and at the same time manufacturers offer modern equipment for the manufacture and materials for installing windows.

Materials for window installation include: anchor plates, mounting foam, wedges and spacers, seals and fasteners. Window manufacturers can complete the product with individual elements. In this case, the components must be High Quality so that when installing windows, all requirements for heat, sound, steam and waterproofing are met.

Mounting wedges and spacers

For installation plastic windows the components are made of durable plastic, since they will have to withstand high loads from the window structure, which will rest on them during installation. Spacer pads perform the same function. Place these elements around the entire perimeter window frame to fix its correct horizontal and vertical position. Wedges are used as support while the foam hardens. After completely dry foam, components are removed. The resulting hole is sealed with foam.

While the foam hardens, wedges are installed between the frame and the opening.

The use of wedges and spacer blocks during the installation of plastic windows is mandatory, since in the process of filling the seams between the frame and the opening with polyurethane foam, the process of its secondary expansion is inevitable. Wedges securely fix window design in a certain position and prevent the possibility of its change under the influence of foam.

Polyurethane foam-based polyurethane foam is used to fill the seam between the frame and the opening. Once in a humid environment, under the influence of oxygen, the contents of the cylinder after a certain time form a solid, durable porous material that reliably fixes the window structure in a given position.

By using polyurethane foam window unit fixed in the opening

Polyurethane foam differs in seasonality of use: winter, summer and all-season. When installing PVC windows, it is important to use foam that has a low expansion coefficient - this will avoid deformation of the structure or disruption of its orientation in space.

Due to the vapor permeability of this material, moisture escapes and the formation of condensation indoors is eliminated. And to protect the window structure and slopes from excess moisture for covering assembly seam install a special self-expanding tape.

Vapor permeable sealing tape

PSUL provides self-ventilation of the seam between the frame and the opening. Due to its porous structure, polyurethane foam allows not only air to pass through, but also moisture, which can lead to the accumulation of moisture on the surface of the slopes and their dampening. The use of PSUL allows you to avoid these troubles.

Ventilation of the gap between the opening and the frame is ensured by PSUL

The tape for installing windows is porous polyurethane foam treated with a special compound. One side of the PSUL has an adhesive layer. Delivery to the installation site is carried out in rolled form. The material must be unrolled immediately before installation, otherwise it will lose its properties.

PSUL is glued to the window structure, having previously removed protective covering from the adhesive layer. This tape is sealing and self-expanding, that is, after the tape is impregnated with oxygen, it increases linear dimensions. As a result, the expanding tape completely covers the seam.

It is important to take into account that for high-quality overlap of the installation seam it is necessary to use a PSUL of the appropriate width. Increasing in size, the tape acquires its vapor barrier qualities and ensures the removal of moisture from the assembly seam, and also protects it from precipitation.

Installing a vapor barrier tape is prerequisite when installing windows

Self-expanding tape is produced in a compressed state. It seals the inner seam against moisture penetration. This protects the slopes and the installation seam from mold. Vapor barrier for PVC windows is a mandatory type of work.

The GPL tape is also designed to cover the installation seam from the inside of the room. It is made on the basis of polyethylene foam film, which has thin layer from aluminum foil. On the opposite side there is an adhesive layer for fixing the tape.

For the tightness of the seam with inside meets waterproofing tape

Adhesive layer has good adhesion to wood, concrete and brick surfaces. After gluing, the assembly seam is provided with absolute sealing, since the tape does not allow moisture or air to pass through.

Top layer GPL tapes exposure to alkali and other chemical reagents is not scary. It does not lose its properties from exposure to direct sunlight.

Installation of plastic windows requires application additional materials, such as diffusion tape. It is used for exterior decoration assembly seam along with vapor barrier tape or foam. In addition to providing vapor permeability, this material reliably protects the gap between the frame and the opening from moisture and exposure to direct sunlight, under which the polyurethane foam tends to collapse.

The diffusion tape is mounted outside the window opening

When finishing joints, diffuse material retains natural ventilation when the unobstructed exit of air from the middle part of the bottom seam is ensured.

Fasteners

These include dowels, anchors, strips, perforated plates, supporting consoles and self-tapping screws.

Anchors

Window installation using anchors is considered the most reliable

The material used for making anchors is galvanized metal. Using anchors, the frame is secured to the wall so that the window is securely installed in the plane of the window opening.

Adjustable anchors

This type of anchor is used for “warm” installation, when the window frame structure protrudes beyond the wall. A leveling layer is applied to the window sill, then anchors are secured to it.

Using the anchor bolt you can adjust the position of the window frame

Such fasteners are also called anchor bolts, which consist of two parts. Each part has a longitudinal groove and holes on the edge. The presence of longitudinal grooves in the plates allows you to adjust the position of the window frame when it is secured with anchors in a certain position. This allows you to choose a perfectly level position of the window structure in space and securely fix it.

Dowels

According to experts who install plastic windows, the use of dowels ensures a more stable position of the structure than using anchors. However, they do not recommend using them to secure the bottom of the window. A dowel is a plastic sleeve with side slots and threads inside. When a self-tapping screw is screwed into it, the plastic petals open and the dowel is securely fixed in the body of the concrete or brick wall. The dimensions of the dowel - width and length - depend on the structure of the wall material. For fragile foundations, large dowels are used.

The dowel ensures reliable fixation of the self-tapping screw in the wall

These fasteners are made of elastic elastic plastic that can withstand high tensile and compressive loads. Dowels are used when attaching anchor plates to the wall surface; this allows you to rigidly install and fix the window frame.

Self-tapping screws

When attaching anchor plates to dowels, use self-tapping screws for concrete - they have large, pointed threads and a head in the shape of a star or hexagon.

The anchor plates are secured using self-tapping screws

When it is necessary to secure perforated metal strips, metal screws are used. To secure any elements using this type of fastener, you must first drill a hole of a smaller diameter. When carrying out work it is necessary to use modern quality tool for installation.

Supporting Consoles

They are made in the form of profile metal plates with holes, which are used for fastening the profile on one side and the anchor on the other. The use of supporting consoles allows the installation of large-format window structures with complex configuration And heavy weight.

Supporting consoles are used when installing large-sized window units

The material used to make the supporting consoles is coated with a layer of zinc, so they are resistant to moisture. An example of a single cantilever is a flat rod bolted to a wall. Its height can be adjusted.

Stand profile

It is made of the same material as the window profile and is attached to the bottom of the window frame. It is used when installation of ebb or window sill is required. The stand profile adds 3 cm to the overall height of the window structure. This is important to take into account when taking measurements.

The substitution profile is used for installation of ebb and window sills

The use of a stand profile helps protect the junction of the lower part of the window and the wall, eliminate thermal bridges and the appearance of condensation.

When installing a window sill, the use of silicone sealant is mandatory, as it fills the joints and seals them reliably. For these purposes, it is possible to use liquid plastic, since it has a more durable adhesion to the surface and does not lag behind the influence of moisture over time, like a sealant. In this case, the highest quality insulation of seams is achieved.

To seal butt seams use silicone sealant

It is important to use only quality materials to install a plastic window and equipment, then the window will perform its functions and reliably protect the room from influences environment and ensure optimal microclimatic indicators.

Greetings, dear readers. I have a neighbor next door. We've been friends for a long time. He recently bought a plot of land with a dilapidated house and decided to update it a little, including replacing the old wooden windows with PVC ones. After measurements, it turned out that you can buy the exact size in Leroy and not waste time on window companies. So he bought these ready-made windows, but doesn’t know how to install them. He came to me for advice on which fasteners to choose. Well, how can you refuse him, let’s go together, choose, buy.

In fact, there are now a lot of different fasteners for double-glazed windows on the market. This can confuse an unprepared person. Websites and magazines praise this or that fastener. But the durability of the double-glazed window and its reliable installation depend on the choice of the correct fasteners.

Therefore, I decided to write an article about the types of fasteners and how they differ from each other.

Anchor dowel or anchor

The fasteners are professional and reliable. The design of the anchor dowel consists of a threaded screw, a metal shell (sleeve) and an internal sleeve.

When screwing the screw, the bushing expands the sleeve and the fastener is securely fixed. But such fasteners have one main drawback. It is fixed so securely that sometimes it is impossible to remove it back.

When you install a plastic window, you don’t think about it. But if during the process the window becomes crooked and it needs to be reinstalled, then the problem will reveal itself. And from my own experience I know that when drilling, sometimes you can get into the reinforcement and then you will have to drill a new hole. And this will lead to the fact that the entire structure can be turned around to a terrible state.

If you are installing a window in a house with multi-layer walls, e.g. panel series P-44, then there will be difficulties with fastening. The fact is that the anchor in such walls simply falls through and the spacer cannot be fixed.

The length of the anchor for installing a plastic window varies between 100-200 mm, thickness 8-10 mm. You need to choose the length of the anchor based on the distance from the frame to the slope. The anchor bolt is attached to the inside of the glass unit. If the profile thickness is 4 cm, plus the anchor should enter the wall 4 cm, then 8 cm is already occupied. If the distance from the frame to the slope is a couple of cm, then you will need an anchor 110 mm long, if 5-7 cm, then a 150 or 160 mm anchor.

Screws for concrete

Regular screws are also suitable for fastening windows. Their advantages over anchors in simple dismantling, if necessary.

The size range of a concrete screw (or nigel) is the same as that of an anchor bolt. From 100 to 200 mm in length and 8-10 mm in diameter. You need to choose the length of the screw in the same way as for an anchor.

Anchor plates

I already wrote about attaching double-glazed windows to anchor plates in. This is one of the most popular types of fastening in window companies.

Anchor plates are:

  • rotary;
  • non-rotating.

Read how to use this fastener for PVC windows in the article to which I provided the link above. Everything is described in detail in it.

It is worth noting the advantages of anchor plates:

  • There is no need to drill through the frame, as is done with an anchor or screw;
  • The presence of reinforcement in the wall will not affect the fasteners in any way. The plate can be rotated.
  • Mounting on plates helps out in “complicated” houses. For example, the same P-44 series.

The standard plate size is 100-200 mm. Since the plate is attached to the outer edge of the frame, a length of 130 mm is enough for any home.

I note that each manufacturer PVC profile There are products with different widths, so the plates need the appropriate size. Finding products in large construction hypermarkets is not a problem. But my advice to you is that it’s better to order the fasteners along with the window.

How to attach plastic windows to brick?

Brick is good material for the construction of buildings. But attaching PVC windows to brick is sometimes problematic. What exactly is the difficulty?

If you use a frame dowel, then it is better to drill holes in the frame for this dowel not in advance, but locally. This is necessary in order to get the anchor directly into the middle of the brick, and not into the mortar between the bricks. Of course, no one does this (by the way, neither do I). After all, this is a waste of time.

It is advisable to choose the frame dowel as long as possible (minimum penetration into the brick is 6 - 10 cm). If the brick is hollow, then use the 202nd anchor.

You can use anchor plates in brick if you are sure that the brick is not hollow. But even a solid brick can be Bad quality. And it will be very difficult for a non-professional to attach the plate into it.

Fastening plastic windows in a wooden house

The ideal option for installing windows for wood is anchor plates. And no one can convince me of this. Frame houses or timber - only plates.

From my bitter experience, I’ll tell you how I fastened windows with screws to the top of a frame in a house made of timber. And there was a casing, and a gap of about 4 cm. A year later, the timber began to shrink, and these screws, together with the timber, went straight into the double-glazed windows.

As a result, several double-glazed windows were replaced under warranty. Got the money. After this incident, if I use screws, then only in exceptional cases and only in the side parts of the window frame.

By the way, even during construction frame houses, professionals do not recommend using hardened screws. Wood is a living material and when moved, screws break, and a nail, for example, bends. The same principle applies to the anchor plate.

Anchor plates for wooden houses good for the following reasons:

  • Quick window installation;
  • Compensates for thermal expansion;
  • They do not affect window structures during shrinkage.

How to attach plastic windows to aerated concrete?

The aerated concrete wall is loose. Can be mounted on a frame dowel with a maximum length of 202 mm. This is the easiest and fastest way.

But it is more correct to attach plastic windows to anchor plates through a special dowel for aerated concrete. It's a little longer and more complicated. In addition, you need to buy or have a hex bat in your arsenal.

How to fix plastic windows in concrete?

If you mean concrete good quality, from which, for example, jumpers are made over window openings, then drilling such concrete with a diameter of 10 mm under a frame dowel is a bit difficult, but it is possible.

In this case, it is better to use anchor plates. But the panels and block houses, it is just more efficient to mount it on a frame dowel. It's more reliable and faster.

At the beginning of the article, I said that the choice of fasteners for windows also depends on the type of structure. So I want to talk about this type of glazing of loggias and balconies.

As a rule, the window fasteners fall into the very edge of the top concrete slab or into the edge of a brick bottom and side wall. Therefore, attaching loggias to the edge of the wall using a frame dowel can be quite dangerous.

Anchor plates are a great way out of the situation.

And finally, I would like to say about the big advantage of anchors, which is at the same time a disadvantage for anchor plates.

When the window frame is attached to anchors, at the time of drilling you level only one vertical plane. And you adjust the second vertical plane after inserting the anchor.

When fastening with anchor plates, you will have to set two vertical planes and only after that make holes with a hammer drill. This requires certain skill and skill.

Plastic windows are fixed in the opening using fasteners and foam. Selecting foam is not difficult, and in this matter you can follow personal experience or the seller's recommendations. As for the fasteners, everything is not so simple. The range of fasteners is impressively diverse, in which it is easy for an unprepared consumer to get lost. How to choose fasteners and use them to install a window will be discussed in this article.

Selecting window fasteners

Fasteners used during installation PVC structures, must meet the following requirements:

  • Ensuring rigid fixation of the plastic window in the opening, taking into account wind and shock loads. Taking into account the impact of wind is especially important when installing blocks on the upper floors of buildings. Impact loads on the structure are most significant in large opening systems.
  • Temperature compensation arising as a result seasonal changes. For example, in winter the profile bends into the room (1-2 mm per linear meter), therefore, the fastening should allow the structure to move by this amount.

Important! In accordance with GOST (30971-02), you cannot rely on polyurethane foam as fasteners (its function is exclusively sealing). Horizontal loads on the fastening are also unacceptable - the block is fixed in the opening using spacer materials (wedged). In fact, the fasteners must hold the structure perpendicular to its plane (prevent the window from falling out).

PVC window fastening scheme according to GOST

What determines the choice of fasteners?

When choosing a fastener, first of all, they look at what the opening in which it is planned to install a plastic window is made of. Openings are made of brick, concrete, decorative stone, wood, metal, cinder block, shell rock or light porous materials (foam concrete, aerated concrete and others).

The second important factor is the type of structure and technical features installations. Balconies, loggias, entrance doors, hallways and windows.

Fasteners for PVC structures

Plastic structures are installed using anchors, self-tapping screws (in some cases with dowels) or anchor plates.

Anchors

This type of fastening is available in two versions: a classic anchor and an anchor for hollow materials.

The length of the dowels varies from 70 mm to 202 mm. The size suitable for installation is selected based on the thickness window profile(60mm), the installation gap between the frame and the opening (standard 2 cm), and the material from which the opening is made. An entry of 5-6 cm into brick or concrete is enough, therefore, in a normal situation, you will need a 152mm anchor.

How to fasten plastic windows?

The choice of fasteners largely depends on the material from which the opening is made. We will consider below which fastening is most preferable for common types of buildings.

In a wooden or frame house

The best fasteners for plastic windows in wooden structures– anchor plates. The first and most compelling reason for this is the deformation processes to which wood is susceptible depending on changes in ambient temperature and humidity. This is especially true for log houses, even if the house has been allowed to stand.

If the block is fixed with self-tapping screws through the frame, there is a high probability of vertical shrinkage of the opening, which will cause the fasteners screwed into the lower and upper profile to be squeezed out. And it’s good if these are opening sections, since the beginning of extrusion will be visually noticeable. In blind blocks, the problem will only become apparent when the fasteners enter.

Installation in frame structures should also be performed on the plates. In some cases, the sidewalls of the structure are secured with self-tapping screws through the profile.

Into concrete

High-quality concrete (lintels for window and doorways), drilling under an anchor with a ten-millimeter drill is not an easy task. For such situations, it is better to use plates, which can be fixed using self-tapping screws for a 6mm dowel.

Anchor plates for PVC windows are used as an alternative to standard anchors. This type of fastener is quite practical and easy to use, but it also has its own characteristics that must be taken into account.

Below I will tell you what a typical plate is and also give an example correct installation using such elements.

Features of mounting plates

Design and varieties

Window structures made of wood, aluminum or metal-plastic profiles can be installed in two ways - with or without unpacking (that is, removing the glass unit).

For an inexperienced specialist, removing a double-glazed window without damaging it, and then installing it back correctly is a non-trivial task, therefore, when doing the installation yourself, it is best to do without unpacking.

Yes, it’s harder, but it’s easier to find a physically strong assistant than a specialist in dismantling glazing beads.

In order not to damage the frame and not waste time on healing the glass unit, you should use special plates rather than anchors to install the structure. This plate has a fairly simple design:

  1. Material- Cink Steel. Quality products covered with a multi-layer anti-corrosion coating, making them virtually rust-free.
  2. Dimensions- approximately 150 mm in length (there are longer ones for installation in deep openings) and 25 mm in width.

  1. Metal thickness- from 1 to 2.5 mm. Standard products are made of 1.5 mm steel, and this is quite enough to securely fix standard windows in the opening. Mounting plates from 2 mm are used when fastening heavy structures made of multi-chamber profiles, large-sized frames and for high-rise installation.

Thickened modifications have two disadvantages - high price and difficulty in bending. If 1.5 mm bends perfectly with your fingers, then 2.5 mm will have to be bent with a hammer on the template, which will also lead to damage to the galvanization.

There are two types of plates for fastening window structures:

  1. Universal. These are simply perforated strips of metal. Also used for wooden windows, and for PVC products, and for other purposes.
  2. Specialized. They are usually equipped with latches, the configuration of which corresponds to the configuration of the protrusions on the PVC profile. In this case, they are fixed not only through the use of fasteners, but also by hooking onto the profile.

The second type is more reliable, so if possible, try to use it.

Terms of use

The mounting plate for PVC window blocks provides less rigidity of fixation compared to an anchor. On solid structures this is not so noticeable, but in windows with large and heavy sashes the difference will be quite obvious. To compensate for this, you must strictly follow the rules for using plate fasteners:

  1. Fixing the plates on the profile. The part must not only be snapped onto the frame, but also additionally secured with a self-tapping screw with a diameter of at least 4 mm and a length of 25 mm (with a drill). The self-tapping screw is twisted so that the drill fits into the reinforcing profile.

When installed on wooden frame Each element is attached to the array with at least two self-tapping screws.

  1. Correct placement. On the sides, the plates are installed at the top and bottom, at a distance of about 200 mm from the corners. In the upper part, the fasteners should be placed either strictly in the center or opposite the impost. The optimal pitch for installing plates is 500–700 mm.
  2. Bend angle. To ensure contact with the opening, the plate is bent not at a right angle, but at an acute angle. This minimizes lateral movement of the frame and increases fixation rigidity.

  1. Fastening to the opening. Each plate is fixed in the opening using one or two plastic dowels with a diameter of 6–8 mm. The dowel is driven into a pre-drilled hole, and its wide neck should press the metal part to the plane of the opening. Final fastening is accomplished using a tapered locking screw.

To install according to all the rules, under each fastening point it is necessary to select a bed with a chisel about 2 mm deep so that the plate is flush with the plane of the opening. Of course, no one does this: anyway, the fasteners will be hidden by plaster or slope sheathing.

Wafer mounting technology

The installation instructions for window structures assume the following scheme:

Illustration Work stage

Preparation of the structure.

We unpack the frame, remove the sashes from the hinges, install the connecting and expansion profiles.

We glue mounting tapes onto the frame: vapor barrier on the inside, vapor permeable on the outside.

Installation of plates.

We install the plates in the selected places, snapping their fastenings into the grooves of the profile.

We bend the plates at an angle so that when installing the frame in the opening, they are pressed against the slopes.

Fixation of plates.

We secure each plate with a self-tapping screw and drill. Screwing it through a plastic profile into a metal reinforcement.

Drilling for fasteners.

We install the frame in the opening and align it in three planes using mounting wedges.

We adjust the position of the mounting plates, pressing them firmly against the edges of the opening.

Using a drill, we drill sockets for fasteners through the holes. The depth of the socket must be at least 10 mm greater than the length of the dowel used.

Fixation of the structure.

We hammer plastic dowels into the holes, pressing the plate to the base.

We fix each dowel with a locking screw.

Working according to this scheme, we are able to quickly fix the frame without violating its integrity and without removing the glass unit. The fasteners themselves will subsequently be disguised by finishing the window slopes.

Conclusion

The anchor plate for plastic windows is a fairly universal mount. But in order for the installation to ensure reliable fixation of the structure in the opening, it must be performed according to all the rules. The tips and videos in this article will help you learn these rules, as well as consultations that you can get by asking a question in the comments.

PVC windows have long proven themselves with the best side. They are multifunctional, reliable and durable. However, these indicators directly depend on how well the window system was installed. There are only two methods: installing windows on plates and the unpacking method. With the first method, you do not need to remove the glazing bead and remove the glass unit from the frame. The window structure is secured using anchor plates, which allows you to install the window without any special skills.

Window installation methods

Both methods have their own nuances, positive and negative qualities.

Unpacking or fastening through the frame using self-tapping screws

This fastening method is characterized by the fact that before installation, the frame must be completely disassembled: the blind and opening doors are removed, and only then installation is carried out through the profile with self-tapping screws.

The unpacking method is mainly used when installing large windows

After installing the profile, the system will have to be assembled and adjusted again. This option is used for large windows with an area of 4 square meters for reliable fastening of such a large structure.

Straightening plates are installed between the glass unit and the profile

Here it would be appropriate to mention the straightening plates, which are installed to avoid contact between the edge of the glass unit and the window profile. Their presence will ensure uniform distribution of the weight of the glass unit and ventilation of the rebate space. The plates are made of plastic, the width of the element corresponds to the width of the glass unit.

Installation using plates

When installing PVC windows on plates, there is no need to remove the glass unit

Installation of windows on plates begins with the acquisition of these same plates. There are models for universal use and those made for use with a specific profile system. They are usually supplied with structures complex shapes. Their peculiarity is that they have special “ears” and can be inserted into existing grooves on the surface of the frame.

Anchor plates with lugs are used with complex window structures

Plates without ears are fastened with bolts, and with ears - with self-tapping screws. Requirements for bolts: 4.5*25 and the presence of a metal drill.

Installation rules

A standard window requires at least five plates. One plate is fixed in the central part of the frame, and two on both sides: one on top and one on bottom. In this case, you should retreat 20 cm from the border of the frame.

To install a standard shaped window, 5 plates are enough

Installing windows without unpacking involves fastening the frame with anchor plates with outside window opening. In this case, there is no need to remove the glazing bead and glass unit. When unpacking, fasteners are provided through the frame with preliminary disassembly of the window system into its component elements: sashes, double-glazed windows.

Fastening with plates is appropriate for use on windows of medium and small size, most often these are standard windows residential buildings and apartments. Large window systems (more than 4 square meters) are attached to anchor dowels through the frame, since the weight of such a structure is significant and the plates will not support it.

Large window systems are installed using anchor dowels

Using anchor dowels they also secure door frames. In professional circles among installers metal-plastic structures This installation method is considered the most reliable, but it has some disadvantages:

  • This type of installation is difficult even for professionals. There is a high risk of damage to the glass unit when removed from the frame;
  • This type of fixation by one person is often not possible;
  • This is a labor-intensive method that takes considerable time and requires appropriate skills.

When installing windows on dowels, there is a high risk of glass damage

If you want to install the window yourself using this method, you will need to buy 10*132 mm dowels. Among the tools, you will need a powerful hammer drill - this device is professional and expensive equipment that is rarely used on the farm, so it is not advisable to purchase it for the installation of one or two windows. You can look for a company that deals with delivery construction equipment for rent, usually hammer drills are the most popular product.

By installing the window on plates, all these problems will not have to be solved. You just need to buy the plates themselves.

Difficulties associated with bolt-on installation

A few more reasons why you shouldn’t self-installation To mess with fastening with bolts, you should prefer plates. In order to fasten the anchor bolt, it will be necessary to PVC frame drill a hole in the window. As a result, depressurization of the glass unit chamber is possible.

As a result of the fact that during drilling, the reinforcement of the system may be disrupted, problems are observed in the future when the window system freezes. As a result, excessive moisture formation occurs inside the room and mold appears on the surface of the slopes.

When fixing a PVC window with bolts, depressurization of the double-glazed window may occur.

If you lack experience and do not know the properties of the material from which the structure is made, it may happen that it will stretch if installed incorrectly. It will be almost impossible to correct the geometry of the window frame.

There are still positive qualities to attaching plastic windows to anchor bolts:

  • reliability of fastening of the structure - in order to dismantle it, it will be necessary to carry out the reverse order of work that was done during installation;
  • after fixing the window system, there is no need to carry out additional work, as happens with fixation with polyurethane foam: time for hardening, leveling, cutting, finishing;
  • the structure can begin to be fully exploited immediately after it is installed;
  • This connection method is reliable and durable, and fastening materials in the form of bolts are widely available and have an affordable price.

Features of fastening to anchor plates

This method of attaching a window system is as simple as possible and accessible to everyone.

Compared to the unpacking method, the method is considered absolutely safe for the window system, but the only disadvantage is that some fastening elements (plates) will remain visible after installation. However, they can also be cleverly camouflaged by hiding them under slopes during their finishing.

Inserting a plastic window using plates is easier and safer than fixing it with bolts

There is another recommendation from experts: if the window has an opening sash that will be used very often, then the window may fail. This type of fastening is recommended for moderate opening or for fixed windows.

An alternative method of fastening is considered: top part The structure is mounted on plates, and the bottom one is fixed with anchor bolts.

Rules for attaching windows to plates

Self-tapping screws should be used as a fixing element. Glue or foam are not suitable. The use of a percussion mechanism to create holes is only possible for concrete surfaces.

To avoid damaging the window frame with the drill, it must be of sufficient length. Additionally, you can protect the surface of the frame by installing a piece of PVC near the hole to be drilled.

Self-tapping screws are used as fastening elements

When installing a window in brick opening having vertical voids, holes for fasteners are formed in the interblock seams. To control the immersion of the self-tapping screw into the body of the frame, it is necessary to use a screwdriver with an appropriate function that limits the torque.

The process of attaching a window to plates

The first step is to fasten the anchor plates in increments of no more than 1 meter. In order for the frame to maintain a stable position, the fastening elements relative to the corners of the frame should be located at a distance of no more than 25 cm.

The distance from the plates to the corners must be at least 25 cm

It is important to remember that the distance from the border of the window structure to the opening must be at least 2 cm. If this condition is not met, it is necessary to make recesses in the surface of the opening to accommodate fasteners. To do this, the plates are installed on the frame, then it is installed in the opening.

On the surface of the wall, use a pencil or chalk to mark the future location of the fasteners. Then the frame is removed and in place of the marks, using a chisel, a recess is made into which the plate should fit and be tightly fixed. This will allow you to subsequently effectively mask the plates when finishing the slopes.

On next stage a window structure is placed in the opening and its position is leveled using wooden blocks prepared in advance. Their thickness should not exceed 3 cm and their installation occurs only horizontally, while vertical alignment occurs, which is controlled using a level.

Vertical alignment is done by level

When the position of the frame is leveled, you can begin to secure the plates using 6*40 dowels at concrete base or self-tapping screws in other cases.

Gaps are sealed using polyurethane foam

To avoid frame distortion, the plates are secured in order. First, fix the lower left corner, then the right, monitoring using a level. The upper plates are fixed in last resort. At the final stage, the seams are sealed using polyurethane foam.
