Openly located communications and instrumentation in the bathroom reduce the aesthetics of the decoration of the room, so they try to hide them in boxes or closed niches, finished with the same tiles as the room. At the same time, access to hidden mechanisms is provided by installing secret hatches in the partitions.

The first samples of such devices were made of plastic and did not provide for finishing with ceramics, so the hatches, hiding the highways, themselves stood out on the tiled surface. After the improvement, viewing devices began to be made of reinforced plastic or metal, which increased their rigidity and made possible finishing hatches with tiles.

Aluminum sunroof AluKlik Revizor

Modern plumbing hatches - "invisible", offered by manufacturers - these are high quality products various designs and sizes in which special concealed hinges and locks of several types are used, for example, aluminum hatches for AluKlik Revizor tiles or steel viewing devices "Sharkon". Accordingly, the price of such devices, depending on the size and used technical solutions, varies from two to several tens of thousands of rubles, and the cost of installation can be even higher.

It is difficult to make a hatch on your own that is not inferior in quality to the finished products available on the market. However, if it is necessary to install a viewing device irregular shape or to optimize the traditional design, having the skills to perform fitting and assembly work and knowing the technology, it is still possible to make a hatch under the tiles with your own hands.

To make a bathroom inspection hatch yourself, consider the following details and technologies:

  • requirements for the viewing device;
  • hatch designs;
  • manufacturing of component parts;
  • hatch assembly - "invisible".

Viewing device requirements

An "invisible" access hatch in the bathroom, regardless of design, must meet the following requirements:

  • functionality - the dimensions and format of the hatch should ensure the possibility of servicing equipment hidden behind the partition;
  • strength and rigidity - for long-term trouble-free operation and the safety of ceramics laid on it;
  • tightness - in order to protect hidden communications and devices from open contact with water in the bathroom;
  • heat and sound insulation of the sash - to prevent the formation of condensation on outer surface doors and noise reduction from water movement (in the sewer riser);
  • aesthetics - concealment in a closed position and arrangement of internal surfaces.

Invisible access hatch provides quick access to utilities

Failure to meet even one of the listed requirements will lead to a loss of aesthetics of the bathroom cladding and problems with technical condition hidden equipment.

All inspection hatches, regardless of type, consist of a frame-box, a sash (door) on special hinges and a locking device. For the tightness of the interface between the door and the frame, a rubber or rubber gasket is installed, and the concealment of the hatch on the wall or floor cladding of the bathroom is achieved by finishing front side sash ceramic tiles.

Manufacturers of invisible hatches offer three types of inspection devices:

  • hinged - hatches with one or two doors, when manually opened, they move the entire area away from the wall or floor, and then swing open on hinges;
  • sliding - viewing vents with a manually retractable door and then moving parallel to the wall;
  • push action - structures that open and close when you press the sash, under which there is a lock with a spring-type mechanism.

Floor hatches are made of aluminum or steel of a certain thickness

From the listed types secret hatches mounted in the bathroom, for do-it-yourself manufacturing it is more advisable to choose a swing type of device suitable for installation in the wall and floor, with affordable prices for components and relative simplicity self installation.

Manufacturing of component parts

The material for making the hatch - "invisible" depends on the size of the viewing device and the capabilities of the contractor. When the dimensions of the inspection window do not exceed the size of one or two tiles, the design of such a product can be simplified. If the dimensions of the hatch, and, consequently, its weight after finishing with tiles are significant, it is unreasonable to save on materials.

Consider two options for manufacturing a viewing device:

  • lightweight devices for small openings;
  • fully equipped hatches.

Lightweight, small size devices

An inspection hatch for arranging a small opening can be made without hinges. The role of the sash in this case will be played by ceramic tiles, on the back side of which along the perimeter, depending on the size, you need to stick 4–6 fixing magnets. If the concealing partition in the bathroom is made of plasterboard, then to the opening in it with inside self-tapping screws fasten a steel frame of such dimensions that its edges protrude from the landing niche and serve as a counterpart of the magnetic fastening.

Competent installation of the inspection hatch will solve the problem of access to hidden systems drainage

The sharp edges of the steel frame in the opening are filed for safety reasons.

The dimensions of the fixing magnets are selected (sharpened) in such a way that the front surface of the tile - the plug is on the same level with the wall cladding. The opening of such a hatch is done using a removable suction handle. It is possible to use such a device on the bathroom floor only in places where there is no load on the "sash", for example, in the floor of a built-in closet.

If the partition is made of brick, then to fix the tiles - doors with magnets along the perimeter of the end of the opening, pieces of a steel corner cut to size are fastened with self-tapping screws.

A standard inspection hatch can be made in two ways: from scrap materials, or using special components, copying the technology of manufacturers. The choice of manufacturing method depends on the dimensions and degree of responsibility of the device, which are determined by the operating characteristics of each specific hatch - "invisible". Let's take a look at both of these technologies.

Making an inspection hatch from scrap materials

The box-frame is made of steel angle or profile rectangular section 60x40 or 50x30 mm in size, which are connected by electric welding, followed by grinding of the welding seams with a grinder. Then, from the specified profile, it is necessary to make the frame of the hatch sash, which should fit into the box with a gap on the sides of 2 mm.

The complete set of inspection hatches includes a hinged door with a locking mechanism

A square steel bar is welded along the inner perimeter of the box so that the door in the closed position lies on it flush with the front plane of the box. Then the sash is fixed in the box on furniture hinges using self-tapping screws for metal, having previously cut out round seat nests for them in the door frame. The number of hinges depends on their quality and sash weight.

Instead of furniture hinges, you can use a more advanced door opening mechanism without handles (Push to open), or a push system. The price of a set of these accessories is much higher, but it is justified by its design advantages.

A sheet of OSB (oriented strand board) is attached to the fabricated frame of the sash using self-tapping screws, the dimensions of which should cover the hatch box.

OSB before installation must be treated to protect it from moisture with a hydrophobic compound.

To fix the closed door in the box, a furniture magnet system or a ready-made lock of one of the types offered by manufacturers is used.

Manufacturing of an inspection hatch from ready-made components

Unlike devices made using improvised means, only special fittings are used when assembling these hatches. As a rule, when self-production such a device use drawings or a working sample of the product.

The box and frame of the hatch leaf are made according to the above technology. Then an aluminum sheet 3-4 mm thick is attached to the sash frame using self-tapping screws or broaching rivets, the size of which should overlap the box.

Based on the features of operation and the location of the hatch, choose the type of hinges and locking device... The assembly of the product and the fitting of the components is carried out according to the instructions for the fittings, after which the steel elements of the structure are covered with two layers of anti-corrosion paint.

Conclusion

The independent manufacture of a wall or floor inspection hatch, which is not inferior in quality to finished products, is a complex work that requires professional skills. But do it yourself a revision window simplified design, capable of satisfying the needs of the control of hidden equipment in the bathroom, with knowledge of manufacturing technologies, it is quite realistic and economically justified.

There are two main options for constructing a basement entrance - a door and a hatch. Each of them is suitable for a certain room... If it comes about the basement, the entrance to which is located inside the house, most owners prefer a hatch.

Making it yourself is easy and pretty quick.

Before proceeding with its installation, let's decide for ourselves, do we really need a basement in the house? Will he be able to solve the tasks assigned to him and will he not be a heavy burden for us.

A basement is a room with a floor below the zero mark. construction site more than half the height of its walls. Otherwise, it will be the basement.

What affects the basement device

  1. Hydrogeological conditions;
  2. Soil type. For example, earthworks on rocky ground will be very expensive, since it is impossible to do without special equipment;
  3. Level groundwater... When this indicator exceeds the depth of the foundation, you will have to purchase expensive waterproofing.

Advantages

  1. Creates additional useful area, which can be used for storing things, preserving and food. Often a workshop is placed here, a room for engineering communications, wine cellar and others.
  2. Having arranged a basement under the main house, you no longer need to think about building an additional utility room on the territory, thereby keeping such expensive square meters plot.
  3. The basement allows you to always have a warm and dry floor on the first floor.
  4. The owners get additional comfort, since they do not need to run to the annexe for groceries in bad weather, they can just go downstairs and take everything they need.

disadvantages

The only thing that can affect the decision of the basement device is its price. It can reach a quarter of all costs for private house, which is a lot. This is due to expensive land work, for which you will have to hire special equipment.

You can do everything with your own hands, but this will require a lot of effort and time. In addition, a thorough arrangement of the premises, which includes waterproofing, will be required, interior decoration and placement of the necessary shelves.

Basement entrance cover

Prepare materials and tools:

  • sheet steel - at least 3-5 mm thick, otherwise it may collapse;
  • metal corner;
  • tin;
  • welding machine;
  • dense rubber;
  • expanded polystyrene;
  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • roulette.
  1. The cover must be made strictly according to the size of the shaft, so that it fits exactly back to back when closing. To do this, use rubber compressor, which will protect the basement from air entering it, which can lead to an increase in temperature.
  2. From above, it can be covered with the floor covering used in the room, or left as it is, having previously painted with paint to protect it from rust. Weld a corner to the bottom of the steel plate around the perimeter, providing additional rigidity to the structure.

Tip: Leave room for free play so that the lid fits snugly in place.

  1. Lay insulation on the inside of the lid. For this, use foam, which is cut in such a way that it butts up to the inside of the corner.
  2. Close the lid with a sheet of tin, bend it on the sides and fix it with self-tapping screws or screws.
  3. Attach the basement hatch to the outer hinges. There are also electric option mechanism for closing and opening the lid.

Electric drive

Unlike the previous version, when anyone can open the hatch, this design turns the basement into a safe. Unwanted visitors will not be able to get there at any desire. The design depends on how the drawings of the hatch to the basement are drawn up with their own hands, the skill of the performer and financial capacity customer.

The usual option

Prepare:

  • electric motor;
  • duralumin pipes;
  • sheet steel;
  • grinder with a circle for cutting metal;
  • welding machine;
  • electrical cable;
  • three-position toggle switch;
  • current source.

This option is considered the simplest, therefore it is used not for special protection of the cellar, but to simplify interaction with the hatch. Install the mechanism directly on the hinged cover.

Tip: never set the sunroof to 90 °, leave room for free return.

The operation of the structure is quite simple - you send a signal from the remote control to the electric motor, it starts to rotate and set the mechanism in motion. The lid rises upward thanks to the rod to an angle of 80 °, where it is locked by the automation.

You can close the hatch by pressing the second toggle switch on the remote control, which turns on the reverse rotation of the electric motor shaft and returns the rod to its place. Moving elements can be hidden behind light duralumin pipes or steel boxes. Even a beginner in this business can assemble the mechanism quite quickly.

Floor standing technology hidden hatch includes several stages: selection and acquisition of materials, preparation of tools, drawing up a drawing and directly - construction of a structure. Basic requirements for the arrangement of Lada and step by step performance of work is described in the article.

Requirements for hidden hatches in the cellar

The presence of a basement in the country or in a private house has a number of undeniable advantages. Utility room expands the usable area and provides a warm, dry floor covering first floor. The disadvantage of a cellar is an increase in the cost of construction. Sometimes the cost of building a basement reaches ¼ of the total estimate for the construction of the whole house. Some try to save money by doing some of the work on their own.

Basement arrangement implies the organization of a separate or built-in entrance. It could be regular door or lada (hatch in the field). If the basement is located in a residential building, then a hidden hatch is placed. To do the work yourself, you need to think about everything in advance, taking into account the basic requirements for hidden structures of this type.

  1. The dimensions of the hatch are selected in accordance with the room and the main purpose of the cellar. Minimum dimensions- 75 * 75 cm.
  2. It is better to choose the location of the lyada not next to the wall. The door should swing open without any difficulty. It is important that open lid did not touch objects on the floor or furniture.
  3. The cellar must be equipped with a simple and convenient opening mechanism.
  4. If the door weighs more than 10 kg, it is advisable to equip the hatch with an electric drive.
  5. The dimensions of the hatch must fully correspond to the basement shaft, and the joints must be sealed.
  6. Care should be taken to provide reliable support around the perimeter of the hatch. During the day, the cover will be stepped on many times, and it must support the weight of all household members.
  7. It is desirable to equip the floor hatch with a smooth opening / closing system (gas lift). If there are animals and children in the house, then a locking device will be needed to restrict access to the basement.
  8. The cover material is selected in accordance with the existing or proposed floor finish. For example, if a wood board or laminate is laid, then the cover is mounted from wood.

Options for finished products: features of operation and installation

Easier to pick up finished structure hatch, and install it yourself. There are models on the market different sizes and types. It will turn out to find an option that is best suited for laminate, tile or linoleum. Depending on the method of opening the door to the basement, there are three types:

If the floor is tiled, laminated or otherwise finishing material, then to create a hidden hatch into the basement with your own hands, you need to choose filled aluminum or steel structures... Such an instance is a shallow rectangular container... After installation, the frame is filled with concrete, after completely dry the surface is veneered.

Important! The concrete hatch is heavy and therefore requires the use of massive hinges and strong fasteners. A well-designed steel structure is capable of withstanding a weight of more than 1 ton.

The choice of materials for making a hidden hatch with your own hands

For the implementation of the project, you can use wood or metal. In this matter, it is important to maintain a reasonable balance between the weight of the structure and its strength. When creating a hatch made of wood, boards with a thickness of 2.5 mm are often used. The top trim of the cover is made with 1 cm plywood. With the help of transverse slats, the boards are connected to each other, forming a solid canvas. To extend the service life wooden door must be treated with linseed oil.

The construction of a solid metal hatch is made of steel sheets 3-4 mm thick. Polystyrene or expanded polystyrene foam is used as a heater.

An important aspect of the convenient use of the cellar hatch is the correctly selected handle and hinges. For these purposes, the usual doorhandle, as it will rise above floor level and cause inconvenience when walking. It is best to use fold-down handles that can be lowered or raised easily. If there are young children in the house, then it is advisable to install removable models... Some craftsmen in wooden hatches often cut out recesses and place hidden handles in them.

When making hinged lids, you will need hinges. These can be ordinary models. door hinges or from the hood of a car. When installing hinges for hidden hatches with your own hands, you need to take into account some of the nuances:

  • it is better to use products with springs - this will provide easier opening of heavy covers;
  • hinges from the car fix the hatch in open position, which eliminates the possibility of slamming the cellar door.

Important! For a hidden hatch, you need to take mortise hinges. If the mounted models are tiled from above with a laminate or tile, then subsequently such a structure cannot be repaired.

Ordinary hinges are not suitable for an aluminum or steel cover. Here it is necessary to use gas shock absorbers.

Create a hidden metal structure

For the manufacture of metal hidden inspection hatches with your own hands you will need the following materials and tools:

  • sheet metal (steel) with a thickness of 3-4 mm and 1 mm;
  • metal corner - 4-5 cm;
  • Door hinges;
  • thermal insulation material;
  • rubber compressor;
  • primer for metal processing;
  • Bulgarian;
  • welding machine, electrodes;
  • grinder;
  • screwdriver;
  • electric drill;
  • self-tapping screws.

The assembly diagram of the metal hatch is presented below.

General order of work performance:

  1. Preparation and insulation of the hatch:
    • cut out of steel 3-4 mm required sheet, for example 75 * 75 cm;
    • weld a corner from the inside along the perimeter of the sheet;
    • weld stiffeners by dividing the hatch area into 4 sectors;
    • clean weld seams;
    • place a heater between the jumpers;
    • on the back of the cover, attach a thin sheet steel and fix it with self-tapping screws to the corners.
  2. Installation of the cellar opening frame:
    • cut the steel corner according to the dimensions of the hatch hole;
    • weld a quadrangular frame from the corners;
    • fix the frame to concrete with anchors;
    • Finish the end of the frame with a seal.
  3. Door fixing:
    • weld reinforced hinges to the metal frame;
    • weld the reciprocating elements to the lid;
    • install gas closers;
    • fix the cover;
    • cover steel parts with linseed oil.

How to make a hidden hatch for a tile with your own hands

Drawing development

It is necessary to develop a sketch in advance future design... A hidden floor hatch (drawing by hand) should schematically display the main parameters of the structure:

  • box dimensions (length, width);
  • the thickness of the opening and the frame used;
  • placement of hinges on the cover and hatch opening.

DIY hidden hatch for tiles: drawings

Arrangement of floor screed

The first step is to take care of the evenness of the floor, in which the hidden hatch will be placed. The entire alignment process is carried out in several stages:

  1. Determine the level of finished flooring... It is necessary to provide for the thickness of the tiles (about 8 mm) and glue (4 mm).
  2. Prepare the grout and set the beacon profiles.
  3. Flange the opening, leaving about 10 cm around the perimeter as a support under the hatch cover.
  4. Make a floor screed according to standard technology.

Tiling

After complete hardening concrete mortar, it is necessary to try on the hatch by attaching it to the opening. At this stage, it is advisable to perform a preliminary layout of the tiles. Tiling starts from the corner of the wall, located in the most conspicuous place. Trimming and laying of tile material when finishing a niche is carried out only after final assembly hatch frame.

Before installing the frame, the location of the hatch should look approximately like this.

Frame and slope finishing

The design of the ends of the opening is performed in the following order:

  1. Place the frame on the niche, level it.
  2. The gaps between the screed and metal frame fill in cement mortar(it is necessary to use the composition of the M500 brand).
  3. Allow the solution to harden completely.
  4. Trim the tiles and tile the remaining area around the opening.
  5. Align the slopes of the niche - install the beacons and "pull out" with cement mortar.
  6. Cover the slopes with tiles using CM-11 glue.
  7. Until the adhesive dries, it is better to fix the tiles with ordinary tape.
  8. Install dividing crosses.

Cover assembly

For the manufacture of a hidden hatch for a tile with your own hands, a galvanized steel case with couplings for installing handles is used. V metal box fittings are laid, the frame is filled with concrete, and from above the tiles are laid flush with the ends of the cover.

Finishing involves grouting the tile joints and installing removable handles.

Electric access hatch: installation features

To facilitate the lifting of the heavy hatch door and protect the basement from the penetration of thieves, the hatch can be equipped with an automatic device. Most easy way- construction of a folding mechanism. To make it, you need to prepare:

  • electric motor;
  • duralumin pipe;
  • steel sheet;
  • steel rods;
  • Bulgarian;
  • welding machine;
  • toggle switch (switch) for 3 positions;
  • the presence of a current source.

The mechanism is mounted on a ready-made hinged cover, the opening angle of the hatch will be less than 90 °. The principle of operation is as follows: a signal from remote control driving the shaft. The rod rises 80 ° and the device fixes the hatch in open state... The second toggle switch gives an impulse through the control panel and starts reverse thrust on the motor. The rod goes down and pulls the door behind it.

Hidden hatch - practical option arrangement of the basement entrance. The cover and lifting mechanism must be safe and easy to use. You will be able to create a hatch with your own hands, without the involvement of expensive equipment and the help of professionals.

Everyone would like to have a basement under the floor in the house. You can talk about the pros for a long time. Firstly, this is an additional room, which has practically constant temperature and humidity throughout the year, regardless of the season. Allows you to use yourself as a vegetable store, as a warehouse, a workshop, etc.

And in this regard, it is important to equip the entrance to the basement with an aesthetic and reliable hatch.

1. Convenience of opening and closing;
2. Presentable appearance;
3. Reliability.

Ease of opening

It is very important that when opening it opens without excessive effort, and when closing the hatch cover does not fall with all its might trying to beat off any limb, but closes smoothly. Reliable fixation of the hatch cover is also equally important. The possibility of being closed, and even worse - getting a lid on the head, will not please anyone.

The advantages include the reliability and solidity of the design. Due to the mass, it does not dangle and does not creak when walking on it. A solid fastening in the opening is also required. The lid locking mechanism in this design is simply vital. The handle is usually removable, you can use a regular eyebolt. Various sealing materials are used for sealing.

Making a basement hatch with your own hands

A basement hatch can also be made with your own hands, for example, a wooden one. For the frame, use bars of 100 x 50 mm or thicker, depending on the load. The cover is made from boards of 30-40 mm from above the boards are glued GVL on the top of which the floor covering is laid. If it is necessary to install a hidden hatch, it must be lowered to the thickness of the floor covering. Hinges for this will require mortise. You can also make a hatch from metal with your own hands.

Of the materials you will need:

Necessary equipment:

  • Welding machine
  • Bulgarian
  • or an electric drill
  • Roulette

First, the frame is assembled from the corners or square pipe after which they make a lid. The lid can be made of either metal or wood. If the structure turns out to be heavy, then the installation of gas shock absorbers is necessary. For those who want to restrict access to the basement for strangers, we recommend installing electric drive... The electric actuator is activated by giving a signal for opening and closing from the remote control.

V modern apartments inspection hatches for tiles are no longer something new, outlandish. Every year they receive more and more wide application, their designs are being improved and adapted to new requirements. Of course, this cannot but affect the price of such products - how newer technology, the more perfect the mechanism and design - the higher the cost.

On our site there is a lot of information about secret hatches different manufacturers, from the most straightforward and cheapest to the most complex and expensive. But, to be completely honest - not everyone and not always can afford to establish expensive device... If from the well-known expression "Good show more valuable than money»You smiled broadly - this article is for you.

In this article, we will look at how you can make a do-it-yourself inspection hatch for a tile. We will discuss what options for the arrangement may be, what materials will be required and pay attention to all the nuances and subtle places.

Secret hatch material

At the first stage, we will decide on the material from which it will be made secret hatch under the tiles with your own hands. Depending on what the wall or floor is finished with, these can be:

  • Plywood. We use it if you insulated the walls or floor of the room using mineral wool, cellulose fiber, foam or polyurethane, and plywood sheets were used as a covering layer, followed by a decorative layer.
  • OSB. We use this material if pressed chipboards are used for covering the walls and floors of the room.
  • Drywall. The simplest and effective method to align the surfaces of the walls, to build decorative partitions or walls when redeveloping the space of an apartment, to equip niches for laying communications - this is drywall. If this is your case - just such a material will become the base of a hidden hatch under the tiles, made by hand.
  • Metal. The hatch for the tiles on the floor must be made of strong, impact-resistant material that can withstand heavy loads. All these properties will be possessed by an iron door.

The question that arises is quite explainable - what's the difference, with the exception of the floor, from what material will the homemade inspection hatch be made? And the difference is adhesive composition, with which you will stick the tiles on the door. For drywall, for example, traditional tile adhesive is used. But on the stove OSB installation ceramics is carried out using a mixture on a polyurethane base.

The next step will be to choose the type of fixing the hatch under the tiles, made by hand in his seat... Immediately, we note that ordinary furniture hinges cannot be used to equip the invisible structure, and here's why. The door must be masked with ceramic tiles. The seams between the tiles of the door and walls should not differ from the rest of the seams. If these requirements are met, the inspection device will not open, or the tile will be damaged when opening.

You can use specialized hinges - but then it is more expedient to install a standard viewing device to access hidden communications and nodes.

To fix the hatch, you can use:

  • Long screws;
  • Plastic dowels with self-tapping screws;
  • Magnets.

We immediately draw your attention to the fact that the magnets must be strong enough to reliably hold the weight of the device. Fridge magnets from souvenirs will not provide reliable fixation, the door can open from accidental touch or spontaneously, under the weight of the tile. The consequences of such a situation can be broken tiles and damage to surfaces on which it can fall. The best solution small neodymium magnets may become. Let's consider each option in detail.

Fastening the inspection hatch with long screws

Installation of the invisible hatch under the tiles in an inconspicuous place (behind the toilet, under the bathroom, in a poorly viewed corner), on drywall, can be done using long screws. Let's do it as follows.

  • At the stage of assembling the frame from metal profiles for drywall, we install additional jumpers in the place of the planned revision hatch, on which it will subsequently lie. By screwing the gypsum panels onto the frame, we leave an opening in a certain place so that the profiles for installing the door remain open and accessible for fastening.
  • Cut out the door from drywall, which will be less than the left opening by 2-3 millimeters on each side, that is, by the thickness of the tile seam. Looking ahead, we note that the size of the hidden hatch should be such that a whole tile or several tiles are glued to it, without trimming, in order to organically blend into the general order of the rows. The easiest way to achieve this result is if you first mark out the styling scheme. decorative tiles on the wall.
  • Trying on the cut fragment to the opening. If everything is in order with the dimensions, we prepare the tile. We try it on to the door and make a drawing on the surface, according to which the holes for the fastening screws will be drilled - they should fall into metal profiles frame. If the viewing window is small and its location involves trimming the tiles, cut it exactly to the size of the door using a tile cutter or grinder. We mark the mounting holes.
  • With a drill carefully drill the holes. They must be done in 2 stages: first, we drill through the hole for the body of the self-tapping screw, and then we drill it a little under a larger diameter - to hide the screw head. Soak the ceramics in water for 7-10 minutes. Then we apply the glue mixture to it, distribute it with a comb and glue it to the base. We carefully remove the remnants of the glue from the ends - they must be clean.
  • After the glue dries we apply the finished structure to the prepared opening, cleaned from the remnants of the solution, and we bait the self-tapping screws. First, carefully roll them through the plasterboard base, and then screw them into the profile. After making sure that the hatch has taken its place, we tighten the fasteners.

Work is done. It remains to grind the seams - but more on that later, since this procedure is the same for all types of installation of inspection hatches under the tiles. Similar order making a door from plywood or OSB board - depending on what became the basis for the decorative layer.

Fastening the inspection hatch with dowels

If a niche for laying communications is cut directly into the wall, and the inspection hatch for the tiles will be mounted directly on the plastered wall, we will do the following.

  • Material at hand: plywood, OSB board or moisture resistant drywall, cut out a door that will cover the niche so that holes for fasteners can be drilled in the corners.
  • We deepen the door into the wall in such a way that, during installation, the decor fragments glued to it are on the same level with the rest of the decor layer.
  • As in the previous method, we mark the tiles and drill holes, taking into account in order to hide the heads of the self-tapping screws.
  • We glue the tile on the door and let it dry. After that, we drill the mounting holes through and through, through the base.
  • We attach the structure to the installation site, align and mark the mounting locations on the wall.
  • We drill holes with a victorious drill with a diameter that corresponds to the size of the dowel. We take plastic dowel without a hat (which goes into the hole flush) and hammer it into place.
  • We attach the hatch to its place through the mounting holes.

It is best to install the hatch under the tiles on the floor in this way, since only in this case the device is securely fixed, it will not loosen or move if walked on it.

Installation with magnets

It is quite simple to make a hatch on magnets under the tiles with your own hands. The only difference between this fixing method and the previous methods is that instead of drilling holes for self-tapping screws, magnets are glued to the door, as you might have guessed.

A hatch is cut to the size of the niche, tiled and installed in place. At the edges of the opening, the counterparts of the magnets are glued, or simply metal plates, which, when closed, tightly close with the door magnets.

This method does not provide complete immobility and the device can move downward under its own weight. One little trick will help you avoid these kinds of problems. During installation, on the lower edge of the opening (this is the upper edge of the tile located under the inspection window), it is enough using adhesive mixture fasten a fragment of a cross for seams, with which the size of the gap is adjusted. The door will rest on it and will not break general order rows of cladding.

You can open such a hatch using a suction cup or a decorative handle fixed to the surface (this option can be considered if the surface is rough and the suction cup does not stick to it). In the same way, you can install a floor hatch under the tiles, but only on the condition that no one will walk on it.
