Before you make your own pattern, you need to thoroughly measure all the dimensions of the fitted part and carefully develop a drawing. Doing this yourself is difficult and will take a lot of time, so it is still recommended to use templates of old material. To upholster furniture with your own hands, you will need a stapler and new fabric material, cut according to patterns. Start the process by upholstering the most simple details, for example from armrests, or square-shaped side panels. Pay attention to the recommendations:

test a stapler with staples on an unwanted piece of fabric and wood;
select the correct depth of the staples so that the new upholstery is firmly attached to the frame;
pull the fabric tighter to avoid distortion of the pattern;
if upholstery is being done for the first time, use materials with conventional relief patterns - from complex drawings, requiring docking, it is better to refuse.

If the sofa book is reupholstered, after updating the main part, check its functionality. Fold and unfold the sofa to observe whether the upholstery is slipping and what places need to be corrected.
