How to make a greenhouse from plastic bottles with your own hands. How to make a greenhouse from plastic bottles Greenhouse from whole plastic bottles

There are not always enough funds to create a greenhouse. At the same time, I want a full-fledged, durable and strong greenhouse. This is why many people decide to create an original greenhouse from PET containers.

Plastic bottles do not stay in homes and go straight to landfill. But to the owners summer cottages It’s worth thinking about how useful it is to use recyclable materials. You can build an unusual greenhouse.

Advantages of the original structure:

  • It is resistant to adverse weather conditions (wind, snow, rain, hail);
  • Plastic is a durable material, which means that such a greenhouse will last a long time;
  • You can easily carry out repairs by replacing individual parts of the greenhouse;
  • It has excellent heat retention properties, as air circulates inside each bottle;
  • Such a construction would be cheap;
  • Assembly of the greenhouse is simple; you can complete all the steps yourself;
  • To build such a greenhouse you do not need a solid foundation.
  • You can build a greenhouse from glass bottles. In this case, build a roof from polycarbonate sheets. Such a building will still cost more than a polycarbonate frame greenhouse. But you will have to pour a solid foundation.

    Bottles have the ability to hold warm air. This is what makes them wonderful greenhouses.

    The greenhouse will be quite heavy and massive, but at the same time beautiful and unusual. With help plastic bottles different colors it will be possible to create original ornaments. Also, such a building retains heat well. Even in winter time won't have to apply additional systems heating

    Construction of a greenhouse from solid plastic bottles with your own hands

    Anyone can build a greenhouse structure from plastic bottles. But it is important not only to understand the principle of connecting PET containers, but also to take into account all the nuances of such an assembly. To do this, it’s worth watching an online master class from experienced people.

    First you need to make a drawing and prepare the work site. It is best to give preference to a well-lit area. It is also advised not to install the greenhouse in open areas where there are strong and gusty winds.

    After this, you need to prepare all the materials and tools. For the frame you will need wooden beam and mounting rail. You also need to stock up on an awl, a hacksaw, nails, a level, a tape measure and nylon thread. All bottles will need to be washed and the stickers removed from them. Then you can begin installing the frame.

    Frame installation:

  • You don't have to fill it concrete foundation. Enough to do wooden base from bars that are dug in around the perimeter of the building. Wood should be treated with antiseptics. For greater strength, you need to fill it with cement.
  • Bearings should be attached to the foundation wooden blocks. In this case, an interval of 1 m must be observed.
  • Next, you should stretch the nylon thread between the beams. You need to make a distance into which a plastic bottle will fit.
  • The next stage is the installation of beams for the base of the roof.
  • After erecting the frame, you can begin installing the walls. The bottom of all bottles must be cut off so that the container can be hermetically connected to another bottle. The plugs will also need to be removed. Then you can string the bottles on top of each other to create a monolithic pipe.

    Light containers should be used for walls, as they transmit light better, while dark ones are suitable for corners and patterns.

    Corner bottles must be attached to the frame using screws or nails. It is recommended to reinforce the wall with slats. The bottles are strung on a metal or wood strip and mounted vertically on the greenhouse with ribbons.

    Roof installation diagram:

  • Making rows of 40 cm from bottles;
  • The sheathing is made of metal mesh (it is recommended to do it more often);
  • Attaching rows to wooden parts of the roof using screws or nails;
  • Wrapping the attached container with tape;
  • Installation of the element on the greenhouse.
  • Here it is beneficial use plastic bottles. All the work is simple, but it is important to do it correctly. Otherwise, the greenhouse will not retain heat, and all the work will go down the drain.

    How to make a greenhouse with your own hands from plastic bottles by stitching

    There is another way to build a greenhouse from recycled materials. This method is more labor-intensive. But in such a greenhouse, crops are created ideal conditions microclimate.

    You can take 1.5 and 2 liter containers from Hershey, cola or any other drink.

    For alternative way You will need plates made from plastic bottles. Preparing the material will take a lot of time and effort. Even for a small greenhouse you need to cut out more than 5000 bottles. But at the same time, more heat is retained in the greenhouse, it is more durable and lighter.

    The sequence of building a greenhouse from bottles using the stitching method:

  • First you need to prepare the material. You need to cut off the top and bottom of a plastic bottle. The resulting cylinder needs to be cut. The resulting workpiece must be leveled using an iron or a press.
  • Each workpiece must be perforated with an awl along the entire perimeter. Using nylon thread or fishing line, you should connect the elements together. It is important to overlap the material to prevent holes from forming.
  • The sewn fabric must be secured to the frame with a slatted frame. This creates a solid greenhouse wall.
  • Several slats can be selectively mounted on the wall. This is done to strengthen the structure.
  • In the same way, you need to create and secure the canvas to the roof.
  • It will take more time to create blanks. You need to work with plastic carefully and carefully. It is important not to spoil the material at the leveling stage with an iron or press.

    Mini-greenhouse design made from plastic bottles

    The easiest way to use plastic containers is to create mini-greenhouses. They can be placed both outdoors and indoors. They will look great on the balcony or on the windowsill of the apartment. Such greenhouses are suitable for orchids, geraniums, herbs or radishes. Most often, summer residents raise seedlings in miniature versions.

    Stages of creating a mini-greenhouse from a plastic bottle:

    This completes the arrangement of the mini-greenhouse. For control temperature regime You can install a thermometer inside the greenhouse. This option is great for growing flowers.

    For mini-greenhouses you need to take a 5 liter bottle.

    The design of a greenhouse for seedlings is slightly different. To create it you will need to cut the container in half. To supply the mini-greenhouse with water, several holes are made in the bottom. Next you should fill the soil and sow the seeds. Top part becomes a roof for a greenhouse. To ventilate, you just need to twist the lid.

    The process of creating a greenhouse from bottles can be quite labor-intensive. You will need to properly prepare the material and fasten it. But in the end you will get an ideal greenhouse with good thermal insulation qualities.

    Plastic bottles are considered trash, but not among summer residents who know how to find a practical use for everything. And, if earlier we used bottles to create small greenhouses for germinating seedlings, today we decided to use them.

    Many will say that this is real nonsense, but we are ready to argue with this now, since we are convinced from our own experience that it is possible to realize the idea. What’s most interesting is that there are even several methods for installing the structure.

    Why do you need a bottle greenhouse?

    Indeed, why is it necessary if there are prefabricated structures made of profiles and glass, greenhouses made of polycarbonate, pipes, film or, in general, old doors? Why reinvent the wheel if everything was invented a long time ago? But there is always an answer.

    A plastic bottle greenhouse is real savings funds, because for its construction you only need to order timber according to size, buy nails and collect bottles. For an average building, 400-600 containers may be enough, and believe me, this is not so much, because according to statistics, the average family throws away up to 30 of these plastic containers per month.

    This design is very strong and, oddly enough, durable. It has been experimentally established that plastic bottles wear out almost 30 times longer than ordinary bottles.

    In addition to all that has been said, the bottle greenhouse retains heat perfectly due to the thermos effect (the cavity inside the bottles). Experienced summer residents claim that for early spring sowing it is not even necessary to warm up the structure, of course, depending on the region.

    There are a lot of similar arguments - the light weight of the greenhouse, simple assembly and replacement of broken walls, incredible strength of the material, durability, cost, excellent appearance and others, but is there any point in discussing anything else when it is necessary to take and build...

    DIY bottle greenhouse

    Do you think it's difficult? You are mistaken, because simply by learning the technology and the correct algorithm, even a schoolchild will be able to build this structure in a few days. If you get ready small company Like-minded people, at least 2-3 people, can complete the project within a day.

    Tools and materials for work

    To work with the installation and assembly of the frame, as well as the installation of walls made of bottles, we will need an awl, cutter, hacksaw, hammer, nails, nylon thread, tape measure, level, pencil and paper.

    To implement the project, you will need plastic bottles (the quantity depends on the size of the greenhouse), a wooden beam and a mounting rail.

    Greenhouse dimensions and design

    There is no need to spend much time on the project here; it is advisable to only indicate on the drawing the height, width and length of the greenhouse, the frequency of installation of carriers, the shape of the roof and other little things. This is exactly why you need to know exact dimensions, which can be transferred to paper.

    Selecting a site and preparing the area

    You and I know very well where the greenhouse should be located - on the south, south-east or south-west side of the buildings in order to provide normal lighting and high-quality protection from cold winds. If the greenhouse is installed in an open area, then you will only have to think about the location of the beds inside, but this already depends on the type of crops to be grown.

    Preparing the area for placing the structure is very simple - cleaning the soil surface from various growths and debris. In addition, you will need to properly mark the territory.

    Bottle greenhouse frame installation

    We do not need a foundation for the greenhouse, since our structure is very light. The only thing that is required is to raise the base slightly above the ground surface to protect it from moisture. For example, you can install the structure on cinder blocks, logs or thick beams.

    If there is a ready-made foundation from old greenhouse, you can use it, but here it is important not to forget about replacing the soil and disinfection old building from past plant diseases and infections.

    Now we build the frame. To do this, we need to lay a rectangular base of thick bars, say 10x7 cm. Next, we need to install vertical load-bearing beams from the same timber, in increments of 1-1.2 m, assemble a frame under the roof, tie everything in the middle with timber, for example, at a height of 1.5 m from the ground. This is necessary to strengthen the structure and give it stability.

    To assemble the greenhouse, we use a hacksaw to cut wood, a hammer and nails, or a screwdriver and self-tapping screws for the assembly itself.

    When the frame is ready, you can move on to the most important thing - building walls from bottles.

    DIY bottle greenhouse (video)

    Building the walls of a bottle greenhouse

    To assemble the structure correctly, you only need to follow a few basic rules:

    • You should immediately cut the bottom of the bottles with a cutter so that you can put them on top of one another, but the cut should be made at the bottom of the bottle, where there is a transition from the bottom to the wide part, so that the fastening is more complex and high-quality;
    • Now you should install the first row of bottles on the warp. They should have a bottom, but with a cut off top, so that through the emptiness of the bottle, it can be nailed or screwed with a self-tapping screw to a wooden frame;
    • Next, we assemble the columns from the containers, stringing them on top of each other with a cut of the lower part. Try not to skimp and assemble the columns tightly by pressing;

    You can build the structure in a slightly different way, starting not from the bottom row, but from the side, and installing ready-made columns assembled from bottles into the walls.

    Roof of the building

    The roof can also be built from bottles, in exactly the same way as the walls, only you will need to work with ready-made columns. It will be necessary to install more frequent sheathing to construction material did not fall inside the greenhouse due to its own, albeit not great, weight.

    For tightness, the roof is tied with tape or can be covered on top with polyethylene oilcloth. It will take a little, just to prevent moisture from penetrating inside and to ensure that water and snow drain from the roof.

    We build a greenhouse from plastic bottle plates

    Let's change the technology a little, but only in relation to plastic material. Now we will build not from whole containers, but from plates made on their basis.

    • To do this, you will need to cut off the top and bottom of the bottle, and cut the resulting so-called pipe. As a result, we get a fairly durable plastic rectangle.
    • We sew all the resulting rectangles together with thin wire or a special cord thread, after making holes with an awl. The main requirement is that the stitching is not end-to-end, but overlapped, so that one plate overlaps the other.
    • Fastening finished material, that is, canvas made of bottle plastic, is applied to the frame very simply - on one side, the canvas is pressed against the frame with a lath and seated on nails or screws. Next, it will need to be tensioned and secured in the same way on the other three sides.

    There are several other ways to construct such structures - from large plastic bottles, from glued bottles, and so on, but we believe that the most reliable and high-quality greenhouses will be those built using the technologies described above.

    Secrets of building a structure
    • It is worth collecting material for the greenhouse in advance, perhaps from the very end of summer, in order to collect required quantity for next spring.
    • You can always buy additional bottles or ask neighboring summer residents who don’t need them.
    • The material can be fastened together with thread, fishing line, wire, or it can be glued, slightly melting the edges over the fire.
    • For construction and comfortable work the right decision will collect identical bottles. 1.5 liter containers are most suitable for comfortable construction.
    • If you are worried about the strength of the walls and their stability, there are many ways to ensure these qualities - stretch nylon threads on both sides of the greenhouse more often, install thin sheathing, but every two or three bottles, install on both sides metal mesh, the thinnest, just tight.
    • If it’s inconvenient for you to build a roof this way, you can always just stretch an inexpensive film. The main thing is that it lasts for one year, and the next year you can always buy a new one, because it will cost a penny.
    • The door to the greenhouse can also be made from a bottle, but in order not to torture yourself, a frame door made of wood covered with film will be enough.

    Choose a plastic bottle greenhouse and you will never regret it. Durability, strength, simplest assembly and minimal maintenance, quick replacement of spoiled elements, and most importantly - the ridiculous cost of the greenhouse. Agree, great idea!!!

    Hello! I share mine interesting experience obtaining a rich harvest. I got it interview with Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Mikhail Chursin and inspired by the article, I decided to use his recommendations, and you know, I was right... All summer we ate cucumbers and tomatoes from the garden, and also prepared some for ourselves and our family for the winter. For those interested, here it is Gleb 07/02/2014

    Thanks for the detailed article! I also suffered with the film and have already started collecting windows from those who replaced wooden ones with plastic ones, I want to build a greenhouse out of them. I never even thought about building something out of plastic bottles. Although there is a lot of this “good” lying around. Now, after reading the article, I decided to try building one out of bottles. And I’ll get rid of the trash and the greenhouse will be built!

    Oksana Vladimirovna 01/14/2016

    This a budget option greenhouses. But it’s still better to take it from polycarbonate. Plastic bottles somehow don’t look very aesthetically pleasing. It will be even more difficult to fit such a greenhouse into general form dachas, especially to suit the style.

    Vera Vladimirovna 03/14/2017

    This is some kind of nonsense! Where can I get so many bottles? If you buy so many yourself, then a polycarbonate greenhouse will cost less. Moreover, without a foundation, it will fly away in gusts of wind.

    Lera 11/29/2017

    This is the first time I’ve seen a greenhouse made from just such a material, it looks very strange. I think it's pretty good economical option, but it is not suitable for building a large greenhouse.

  • DIY greenhouses from plastic bottles - real opportunity get triple the benefit. Firstly, you will find a use for waste polyethylene terephthalate (PET), the disposal of which is now an urgent problem on a global scale. Secondly, get a universal greenhouse or greenhouse for any plants. And thirdly, spend as little as possible. Money, because for construction you will only need available materials. In addition, such a building looks decorative and colorful on the site, especially if you take bottles of different colors.

    Advantages of a greenhouse made from plastic bottles

    A greenhouse made of plastic bottles may at first seem unreliable and not very useful construction, but practice shows the fallacy of this opinion:

    • Plastic, being both a light and durable material, serves for several seasons without fear of winds and precipitation.
    • The thermal insulation qualities of the bottles are quite high due to the internal voids. The properties of this design are similar to cellular polycarbonate.
    • PET containers transmit light perfectly. The amount of incoming light can be easily adjusted by combining clear and darkened containers.
    • Assembling a greenhouse or hotbed from plastic bottles with your own hands is a fascinating activity that does not require special skills and requires only ordinary tools.

    In addition, recycling plastic is a task for the future, allowing us to maintain a stable environmental situation on our planet and finally clear all streets, parks and reservoirs of ubiquitous garbage.

    For novice builders there are a couple of simple, but effective advice how to make a greenhouse from plastic bottles with your own hands as quickly and successfully as possible:

    • Start collecting bottles early, taking into account that the average family uses about 30 bottles per month.
    • Before construction, the bottles must be thoroughly washed and dried.
    • Can be used for cutting plastic different instruments– scissors, wood cutter or suitable knife.
    • You cannot fasten plastic with a stapler, fishing line or regular thread. Such seams will quickly fall apart under the influence of weather conditions.
    • As source material They use bottles of the same size and shape; the most convenient is a 1.5-liter container.
    • To strengthen plastic walls stretch the threads, use a thin metal mesh or secure them with flat slats.
    • You can combine PET bottles with other materials. For example, for small greenhouses it is more convenient to build a film roof.
    • You can make strips (about 3 cm wide) from bottles, which are used to glue seams.

    PET bottle is a multifunctional building material, especially for gardeners. For the construction of greenhouses, it can be used in its entirety, cut, and given the desired shape. It all depends on its purpose and the builder’s flight of fancy. The most common types of structures are:

    • A greenhouse made of bottle poles, which are strung on a frame with vertical poles. Often rods (sticks) are placed inside the pillar, which further strengthen the structure.
    • A greenhouse made of bottle plates, which are sewn together with nylon threads, heated plastic strips or any other reliable method.
    • A rack-type construction, which involves attaching a plastic sheet to a frame of longitudinal-transverse slats.
    • The simplest mini-greenhouses for seedlings.

    The shape of such structures can be arched, classic rectangular, with pitched and gable roofs.

    Several options for do-it-yourself greenhouses made from plastic bottles

    The simplest greenhouse made from plastic bottles can last about 10 years without failure. It is not afraid of snow or severe cold and allows you to start growing seedlings without additional heating in early spring. The shape of the structure can be in the form of a house, arched, with a single or gable roof. It all depends on your desire and the talent of the builder.

    The materials and tools used in the construction process are as follows:

    Greenhouses made from solid plastic bottles:
  • PET bottles are prepared by cutting off the bottoms at the rounding point, where the diameter does not reach its maximum value.
  • String the prepared pieces on top of each other using pressure. The harder you press, the stronger the structure will be. The height of such bottle columns should be equal to the height of the building.
  • A frame is erected from the selected material and threads are stretched between the vertical frames at a short distance from one another.
  • Bottle poles are tightly inserted into the spaces between the threads and secured to the frame.
  • To increase reliability, the entire structure is additionally secured using tape.
  • A greenhouse made from plastic bottles is built according to the same principle, but fewer bottles are needed, and the frame is made even simpler.

    Greenhouses covered with “bottle” fabric

    PET containers can be easily cut plastic plates, having sewn them together, they obtain a durable, even and perfectly bendable coating. It can be used to cover greenhouses of any type, and in terms of reliability it is in many ways superior to film.

    To create such a coating:

    • Cut off the top and bottom of the bottle where the bend ends.
    • The workpieces are divided into 2 parts and for leveling through thick fabric iron or after soaking in hot water, put under a press for several days.
    • The resulting plates are sewn together using an awl, as well as cord thread or soft wire. The plates should overlap each other by 2-5 cm so that the canvas is solid and even.
    • Ready sheets secured to the frame with nails or self-tapping screws.

    Using this coating, you can build a very durable greenhouse on slats. For this:

    • The required number of plastic sheets is made, as well as longitudinal and transverse slats with a section of 3x3 cm, equal to the length and width of the sheets, respectively.
    • First, longitudinal slats are installed, which are then stitched with transverse ones.
    • Plastic sheets are shot onto the slats with a furniture gun, and the joints are glued with plastic strips.

    Ideas for creating mini-greenhouses from bottles with your own hands

    If you just need to grow some seedlings, large greenhouse you don't need it. A small greenhouse will cope with this task perfectly, and very few bottles will be needed.

    Most interesting options greenhouses:

    • A greenhouse, the walls of which are made of 1.5-liter bottles, and the roof is covered with plastic film.
    • A simple greenhouse made from a 5-liter container, the bottom of which is cut off and placed over the seedlings as a cap.
    • A portable greenhouse made from a bottle, right in which you can grow low seedlings. The container is laid on its side, a rectangular hole-door is cut out on top, and gravel and substrate are placed on the bottom. The door can be closed and opened using tape.

    In conclusion

    The construction of greenhouses from plastic bottles is not only economically profitable, but also useful for conservation environment. Such a building will become a reliable assistant to the vegetable grower, and if necessary, it can be easily modified, disassembled or moved.

    Many people consider plastic bottles to be ordinary garbage. However, resourceful summer residents can find a use for everything. From empty plastic bottles you can make both a small greenhouse for growing seedlings and a fairly spacious greenhouse.

    There are several options for installing a greenhouse made of plastic bottles.

    Advantages of a greenhouse made from plastic bottles

    A greenhouse made from bottles has several advantages over greenhouses made from other materials. The most significant advantage is saving money. When building a greenhouse from plastic bottles, you will only have to spend money on timber, the size of which depends on the size of the future building, and nails. And, of course, collect a certain number of bottles. For such a medium-sized greenhouse you will need approximately 400-600 empty plastic bottles.

    Another important advantage of a greenhouse made from plastic bottles is its strength and durability. After all, plastic wears out approximately 30 times slower than the usual film that is used to cover a greenhouse.
    A greenhouse made from bottles retains heat well and works on the principle of a thermos.

    In addition, structures made from plastic bottles are lightweight and very easy to assemble, dismantle and replace deformed areas. In addition, such a greenhouse looks quite interesting.

    DIY greenhouse made from plastic bottles

    Even a schoolchild can build a greenhouse out of bottles. The main thing is to understand the construction technology and develop the correct algorithm of actions. If several people will be involved in the construction of the greenhouse, then everyone construction works can be done during the day.

    To assemble and install the frame of the future greenhouse and install walls from plastic bottles, you will need: a cutter, a hammer, a hacksaw, an awl, nylon thread, a level, a pencil, nails, and a tape measure. But the main materials for construction are empty plastic bottles, mounting strips and wooden construction beams.

    The location of the greenhouse is also important. It is best if it is located on the south side of any other outbuildings. This way the greenhouse will be protected from cold winds and provided with sunlight.

    To build a greenhouse from plastic bottles, it is not at all necessary to make a special foundation. The greenhouse can be installed on thick beams, logs or cinder blocks. Thus, the building will be protected from excess moisture.

    To build a greenhouse frame, you need to install a base of wooden blocks and load-bearing vertical beams and assemble a frame for the future roof. Then tie the frame in the middle with timber at a height of approximately 1.5 meters. This will make the structure more stable. When the frame is completely ready, you can begin building walls from plastic bottles.

    To correctly assemble the entire structure, you need to follow a few simple rules:

    In order to make it convenient to put one bottle on another, their bottoms must first be cut using a cutter.
    For the first row you will need plastic bottles with the bottom, but the top part cut off. The bottom is necessary to screw or nail the first row of bottles to the wooden frame.
    Next, you should collect columns from cut bottles. It is better not to save material and make the columns of bottles denser.
    In order for the posts to be more stable, it is necessary to tighten the thread for additional fixation or evenly nail several mounting slats to the frame.

    Using the same method, you can build a greenhouse roof. In this case, columns from bottles need to be made in advance, and more frequent lathing should be done. For greater tightness, the roof should be tied with tape or covered with oilcloth on top.

    Greenhouse made of plastic bottle plates

    A greenhouse can also be built not just from individual plastic bottles, but from plates. To make the plates, you need to cut off both the top and bottom parts of the bottles, cut the remaining part lengthwise and straighten it. This way you will get a fairly strong plastic rectangle.

    Many people simply throw away plastic bottles, since it doesn’t make sense to hand them over due to their cheapness, but finding a large number Not everyone can use such containers, but not summer residents. They were the ones who figured out how to make a greenhouse with minimal costs. This is what we will consider now.

    Plastic bottles as a material for a greenhouse: advantages and disadvantages

    Why do you need a greenhouse made of plastic bottles if today there are many modern materials that allow you to build a good stationary greenhouse for many years?

    • Plastic bottles are a completely free material, which forms the basis of the entire structure (walls and roof). To assemble the entire greenhouse you will need about 600 bottles, and on average we throw at least 30-40 bottles into the trash every month.
    • This is a real savings, since you only have to buy nails and boards that fit the size of the greenhouse base, and if you have them at your dacha, then you don’t have to buy anything.
    • Strange as it may sound, such a “bottle” greenhouse will be quite strong, stable and durable, since such bottles have a service life 30 times longer than plastic film.
    • A bottle greenhouse has excellent thermal insulation qualities and this happens thanks to the “thermos effect” created by the hollow internal parts of the bottles.
    • As many summer residents say, even for early spring sowing there is no need to additionally heat the greenhouse (depending on the region of the country).
    • Low weight of the structure (such beer or lemonade bottles are even much lighter than polyethylene).
    • Speed of construction (if you have several helpers, the greenhouse can be built in one day).
    • Plastic bottles can withstand strong gusts of wind, rain, snow and hail (if you did everything correctly during the construction of the greenhouse and strengthened the structure well on the base).

    The only disadvantage of this design is that it will take a long time to collect the bottles, then wash them and remove all the labels. But if you start collecting them in the fall, then a sufficient amount will be collected over the winter.

    Preparation for construction: drawings, diagrams and dimensions

    You can build a greenhouse very quickly if you know all the technology and strictly follow the entire list of requirements.

    You don’t have to especially draw up a project, since here you only need to indicate three parameters: height, width and length of the structure, as well as the frequency of construction load-bearing structures, roof shape and other nuances.

    Knowing all the dimensions, you can create your own drawing, and your greenhouse will be special.

    We will make a greenhouse measuring 3x4x2.4 meters with a gable roof.

    • First you need to prepare required amount bottles in the amount of 600 pieces of 1.5 or 2 liters. It must be remembered that for the construction of the southern wall it is better to use only transparent white bottles, and for the northern wall you can also take multi-colored bottles with a certain amount of transparent ones.
    • All bottles must be washed and their labels removed.
    • Next, you should prepare the area for the construction of a greenhouse. Summer residents know that a greenhouse is built from the south, southeast or southwest of the main residential buildings so that there is good lighting, and also protect it from cold northern winds. But if the area does not allow the structure to be erected as intended, then it can be erected in an open area, only then you will have to correctly position the beds indoors.
    • Next, you need to clear the area of debris and excess grass and level it well, focusing on future size the perimeter of the entire structure.

    You should choose bottles of the same size and preferably the same in their design features. Beer or lemonade two liter bottles Perfect for building a greenhouse. Or you can take one and a half liter bottles of mineral water.

    In principle, the choice is yours, but you just need to remember that the larger the volume of the bottle, the thicker the walls you will get, and the better they will retain heat inside the greenhouse, which in principle is main task of this structure and its main purpose.

    Material calculation and tools
    • To create a future greenhouse, we will need about 600 empty plastic bottles without caps.
    • Wooden boards or timber - 2 pieces (3 meters each) and 2 pieces (4 meters each).
    • Mounting rail (quantity and size must be calculated based on the project).
    Tools:
    • Cutter;
    • Thin awl;
    • Sewing machine;
    • Hammer;
    • Nails or screws;
    • Nylon thread or thick fishing line;
    • Roulette and level.
    Step-by-step instructions for building a greenhouse with your own handsGreenhouse from cut bottles
  • Since our entire structure will be very light, it makes no sense to make a powerful foundation. We simply raise the base above the ground using cinder blocks, bricks, logs or beams.
  • To build the frame, we need to knock down a base (3x4) from boards measuring 10x7 cm. Then install load-bearing supports (vertically) from timber along the entire perimeter, observing a step of 1–1.2 meters. We assemble the structure under the roof and tie it in the very middle with timber at approximately a height of 2 meters from the base. This is done to further strengthen the structure and give it greater stability.
  • To assemble the structure, we take a hacksaw, a hammer with nails, or self-tapping screws with a screwdriver.
  • After completing the construction of the frame, we move on to the main stage - assembling walls from prepared bottles.
  • We carefully cut off the bottom with a special cutter for bottles, then we could simply put them on top of each other. It is necessary to cut at the bottom along the edge where the transition from the bottom to the wider part occurs. We must do such actions for more complex, but more high-quality fastening bottles
  • We install the first row of our bottles on the base. But these bottles must have a bottom and a cut off top so that they can be easily nailed or screwed to a wooden base.
  • Next we string dense columns from bottles without a bottom onto a nylon thread or fishing line. The neck of each subsequent bottle should fit tightly into the cut bottom of the previous one. Like a children's construction set.
  • In order for our posts to stand level and not wobble, we must pull a fixing thread between the pores or nail a thin wooden strip.
  • Then we fix the finished posts on the top of the wall. You can simply attach a thread or fishing line to nails nailed to the top beam or in another convenient way. But all the posts must be level, and the thread or fishing line must be well stretched so that the wall does not “dangle” from side to side.
  • We also make the roof from bottles. But here you will have to work with ready-made bottle columns. Gable roof consists of two rectangles and two triangles. Therefore, first we separately knock down the roof elements and string bottles on them (just like we did the walls), and then assemble the roof structure and install it on the walls.
  • You can do it differently. First we assemble the roof right at the top of the walls, and then we assemble the bottle posts on it. Every owner does what is convenient for him. The choice is yours.
  • In order to prevent the posts from sagging inward or falling under the force of their own even small weight, it is necessary to make more frequent sheathing on the roof.
  • To make it airtight, the roof can be tied with tape, but it is best to cover it on top plastic film. This will prevent rain from seeping through the cracks between the posts. Even if you pack the bottles very tightly and connect them together, there will still be a gap through which moisture will penetrate. This will also help ensure that melted snow falls off the roof quickly.
  • We will also make doors to the greenhouse from bottles. First, we make a frame and stretch the stringed bottle posts. Everything happens exactly the same as with the walls and the roof. We screw the hinges onto the finished doors and hang them on the door.

    Let's slightly change the method of constructing a greenhouse from plastic bottles, and now we will make a greenhouse of the same size, but only from rectangular plates cut from our “waste”. Make a greenhouse from plastic bottles at your dacha using any of the above methods, and you will never regret it. You'll get a strong, durable, energy-efficient, and affordable design that will help you grow your favorites and healthy vegetables and fruits for the whole family, and most importantly, for your little children.
