DIY brick grill with pipe. Do-it-yourself brick barbecue oven: drawings and order. Outdoor stoves and barbecues made of bricks - photos, advantages and disadvantages

A brick barbecue grill is a stationary building where barbecue, vegetables, fish and other food are prepared on outdoors. Cooking occurs with the help of hot smoke and heat coming from an open fire.

Unlike collapsible metal structures, a brick barbecue is a solid structure that has been used for years. It can serve as an alternative to a stove and smokehouse. On suburban area he may also be original decoration territories.

We will tell you how to build brick barbecues with your own hands (drawings, photos, orders at the end of the article).

How to make a barbecue from bricks in the country

Have you decided to build an outdoor brick grill with your own hands? There are a huge number of photos of barbecue designs, diagrams, orders. How to choose suitable option?

There are homemade brick barbecues with and without roofs. A garden grill without a roof is a brazier different heights.

Simple design that does not require special costs and effort during construction, but when it rains you won’t be able to use the barbecue.

The presence of a roof implies the presence of a chimney, which is covered from precipitation with a canopy. This grill looks like a fireplace.

Closed barbecues are solid street structures, they are often completed additional elements. It could be grill grate, oven, cauldron. A grill with space for a cauldron can be used for cooking pilaf or to heat up food. If you remove the cauldron, you are left with a full-fledged roasting pan. If you cover the hole for the cauldron with rings, you can place any dishes on them, just like on a stove. The design can be supplemented niches for firewood, coals and utensils.

What elements will be included and how to make a country barbecue out of brick so that it suits you is determined at the design stage, based on the planned dimensions, how much food will be cooked in the barbecue simultaneously, and what types of food will be cooked on it.

Designing a brick grill

Construction order - expensive pleasure, But With minimal masonry skills, you can freely build a brick grill with your own hands. What elements will be needed (cauldron, place for heating food, grill grate, smokehouse) should be thought out in advance. There are many drawings. Below is an example of building a simple indoor barbecue with a pipe.

ATTENTION! We strongly recommend that you take design seriously. Many summer residents build brick barbecues with their own hands, without using drawings. As a result, the structure, at best, turns into a flowerbed. So how to use homemade grill brick cannot be used for its intended purpose. Inconvenient.

When choosing or drawing up a project, you should proceed from the dimensions of the future building. They depend on plot size. It is worth remembering that the land occupied by the barbecue will no longer be used for other purposes. The size of the firebox will depend on how much food will be cooked in the grill at the same time.

Brick barbecue projects: drawings, photos

Peculiarities: the length of the firebox should not exceed 1 m - this is enough for 8-10 skewers at a time. The width should be consistent with the length of a standard skewer - 47-62 cm. The height of the frying area is ideally just above the waist of the person who will cook.

Since a stationary grill often becomes central decorative element plot, this should be taken into account when designing and selecting a location. Its reverse side looks like a solid brick wall, so it is advisable to position the structure so that With reverse side it was not viewed. Or provide for its decoration taking into account fire safety.

Choosing a place for a barbecue

A barbecue area is also a place to relax. Nobody wants to build a stationary brick grill with their own hands so that it is not convenient to use. When choosing where to place it, be sure to consider a number of points:

  • proximity to vacation spot- not far from the gazebo, summer kitchen or a canopy with benches and a table;
  • flat area, specially equipped;
  • required convenient approach, ideally - several;
  • proximity to a water source(often a water supply is connected to the barbecue and a sink is installed. In this case, you will have to drain the water from the system for the winter to avoid cracking of the pipes);
  • weather protection(canopy), sometimes they set up a barbecue and a resting place under one canopy;
  • sufficient distance from trees, flower beds and beds- from high temperature plants will wither and may die;
  • sufficient distance from garbage containers and toilets;
  • Direction of the wind(if it is unchanged, place the grill so that the smoke blows not towards the home, but towards the vacant lot).

Important! The grill is a fire hazard. It should be located in the garden far enough from the house, flammable wooden buildings, areas for cars.

Tools and materials

Before you build a brick barbecue in your country house, you need a ready-made or pre-drawn up project calculate it yourself required amount of materials.

This is necessary so as not to encounter a shortage or, conversely, excessive remaining surpluses. Based on the quantities of material calculated for the project, an estimate is drawn up.

The calculation is made so that there is a small margin of material. Tools you will need:

  • shovel;
  • trough or concrete mixer;
  • buckets for solution;
  • Master OK;
  • level, plumb line;
  • circular saw A.
  • fireclay (kiln) brick, withstands temperature changes without cracking;

Consumables:

  • foundation material (rubble stone, cement, sand, crushed stone, boards or smooth plywood for formwork);
  • reinforcement mesh;
  • iron sheet;
  • metal grilles, valves, corners, doors.

If the grill is designed with niches and a work area, you will additionally need stone countertop. A mixture of clay and sand is usually used as a masonry mortar, at least for the firebox.

The cement mortar will quickly deteriorate and crack when exposed to high temperatures (can reach 1000 ° C in the firebox) and temperature changes. Clay must be pre-treated soak for several days. Clay and building mixtures with it are offered in construction stores.

Reference: fireproof material is required for laying out the firebox in direct contact with the fire. In order to save money, for the construction of the base and elements that are not exposed to open flames and high temperatures, you can take ordinary brick - incl. remaining from the dismantling of any structures, cleared of solution residues.

A simple do-it-yourself brick grill: step-by-step instructions

As an example, step by step, in a “do-it-yourself” format, we will analyze how to build a barbecue with your own hands from brick, the simplest option. The only complication that our simple brick grill will have (photo of the proposed option below) is a pipe. We consider pipe laying necessary in Russian conditions. Let's build! Below is a construction diagram.

Foundation for barbecue

The first stage of construction is pouring the foundation. A deep hole is dug for him 30 cm and size, which is 20-30 cm exceeds the size of the future structure. The walls and bottom are leveled and compacted. A cushion of sand and gravel is laid on the bottom. The layers are laid alternately, each subsequent one must be moistened and compacted. Pillow thickness - 15 cm.

Before pouring, formwork is installed, protruding above the ground by 10 cm. Placed at the bottom of the pit reinforcement mesh and is poured cement mortar. At the final stage, the foundation should be leveled using level. Complete hardening of the concrete occurs 3-4 weeks, i.e. you should wait before further construction 28 days. To ensure uniform setting in hot, dry weather, the concrete surface should be periodically moistened.

Clay is diluted with sand in the ratio 1:1 . The consistency of the solution should be like thick sour cream. It should be easy to handle with your hands, without spreading. If a small amount of clay mortar with sand easily rolls into a rope with a diameter 1 cm without cracking, spreading or losing shape, then the quality of the solution is good.

While the foundation is hardening, you should take care of the clay mortar in advance. G lina is soaked in water for a week and stir periodically, adding water if necessary. Clay and earthenware masonry mortar sold in construction stores. We supply electricity while still pouring, before laying out the brick grill. We draw out the contacts for connection with our own hands.

Waterproofing is laid on a completely hardened foundation - polyethylene folded several times, a layer of roofing felt or other bitumen material. Country barbecues are built in compliance with standard rules brickwork. It is recommended to water the brick the day before laying or immerse it in it for 20-30 seconds immediately before laying. Then it will not take moisture from the clay, and the grip will be better.

Order: how to build a brick grill

Despite the fact that we are dismantling an outdoor brick grill that is easy to build, the order of laying the bricks (diagram) is drawn up in advance, taking into account the selected dimensions and configuration. It is most convenient to do this on a checkered sheet.

How to lay brick? The easiest installation method is with each row offset by half a brick in relation to the previous one. The first two rows are laid out solid. The very first row is made up of solid bricks, without halves.

The lower part of the grill is the base. The laying pattern is from the corners to the center along the lines outlined in advance. Every 3 rows It is necessary to check the correct installation level and plumb, lay out the mesh for reinforcement.

The height of the plinth depends on the project. It may have one or more niches where firewood, coal and other utensils are stored. It is laid out in continuous masonry.

central part designs - firebox. Base for brazier in advance cast from concrete with reinforcement or laid out of brick. If arches for the firebox and niches are built according to the project, apply circled. To distribute the bricks evenly, chips are inserted between them.

The gaps are the same, approximately 1 cm. Only after the arch has been completely laid out is the space between the bricks wetted and filled with mortar. The laid arch is left to harden with a circle on a day or two.

If the grill will also be used as a barbecue, you should in advance be concerned about the possibility grille installation. Leave a small ledge for it, or several ledges so that the grille can be placed at different levels. Install it on reinforcement rods embedded in the walls of the barbecue.

Advice: If you leave small gaps between the bricks when laying the firebox, when using the barbecue in the future, thanks to the air penetrating into the cracks, combustion will be better.

The roasting pan is placed on metal corners, which are attached to the masonry with pins. Keep this in mind when assembling a country brick grill with your own hands (photo of a correctly folded firebox below).

Important! It is unacceptable for precipitation to come into contact with unfinished brickwork. If it starts to rain, it must be carefully covered with polyethylene.

Final stage- construction of a chimney. Its presence allows you to maintain heat in the grill longer and remove smoke. For chimney The masonry continues to be laid out, gradually narrowing it towards the top. This is done by shifting the bricks in rows. The displacement is made no more than a third of a brick- otherwise the structure may turn out to be unstable.

Peculiarity: The pipe is a heavy part and requires support columns for its installation.

If the display brick pipe seems too complicated - you can install a metal one. Upon completion of the masonry, the walls of the firebox must be fired. To do this, light wood in the hearth and increase the heat to the maximum.

The construction of a brazier, installation of a cauldron or tray is carried out on final stage. After this, decoration is carried out. If there is a tabletop, it can be decorated with a slab of porcelain stoneware. The grill itself is lined plaster, decorative stone, facing tiles etc.

If you are a lover of fried meat, the thought of building a stationary brick grill has probably occurred to you. We offer instructions, following which you will set up a barbecue literally in a weekend, and then you can immediately test it, demonstrating all your culinary abilities.

Preparing a place for a barbecue

To brickwork has not lost its neatness over the years, the grill should be located on a hard monolithic base. For these purposes it will be most suitable paving slab, you can also use hollow core slabs and other suitable reinforced concrete products.

We will consider special case installation of a concrete base for a barbecue measuring 2.3 x 1.6 m. The slab is conventionally divided in half lengthwise - one half is for the barbecue, the other remains as a platform for convenient approach and cooking. Please note that partial concreting can be replaced with a brick blind area.

To fill the slab, it is necessary to remove a layer of soil using a shovel, having previously marked the area with pegs. At the walls of the resulting pit, you need to install pieces of thin OSB about 30 cm wide and fasten the slabs with gussets at the corners. A 15-17 cm layer of crushed stone and sand is poured onto the bottom, the backfill is compacted and spilled with water.

The slab must be reinforced with at least one layer of mesh with an 8 mm rod and a cell no larger than 120x120 mm. The embedded element is located with protective layer 60 mm from each edge on spacer plugs. The slab is poured with concrete grade B-15 or stronger; it is optimal if the slab is poured 60-70 mm above the ground level, that is, the total height of the screed is 12-15 cm. Drying is given for about a week; if it is not possible to periodically wet the concrete, cover it film and slate.

What brick? What solution?

You must know the size of the stone in advance in order to correctly arrange it. We suggest using fired clay brick(red) with dimensions LxWxH: 257x123x55 mm. Give preference to solid materials, unless you plan to cover the masonry on top with a fence stone.

It is not recommended to cover the grill with sandstone, clinker or chopped bricks: under open air Delaminations and cracks are highly likely to appear on such cladding. Therefore, for masonry, you should sort the bricks and select stones without chips or broken corners. Please also note that part of the brick will be at high temperatures in the cooking zone. Consequently, fireclay and silicate products are not suitable for this: one due to potential toxicity, the second due to physical and mechanical disadvantages.

To prepare the solution, use one part of grade 300 cement to 3.5 parts of washed quarry sand. But there is also a pitfall here: for some types of brick, the coefficient of thermal expansion is very different from the characteristics of the mortar, which is why cracks may appear in the combustion zone. Therefore, it is recommended to replace cement with a mixture of fireclay clay in a 1:1 ratio.

Lay out the arched woodpile

It wouldn’t hurt to first draw the outlines of the future barbecue on the screed - a rectangle 2126x926 mm. The masonry is done in half a brick, starting from the rear wall - a row of eight bricks with 10 mm seams. On the side there are walls - perpendicular rows of three bricks. Another partition is laid flush with the fourth brick of the rear wall, so the masonry in plan takes on a W-shape.

The laying of the second row begins from the side walls, but in this case the first brick is laid on back wall, which ensures dressing between rows. In the second row, the front ends of the walls are completed with extensions - brick halves cut off with a grinder. The second row ends on the back wall: first 3.5 bricks of the back wall of the woodpile, then across a whole brick of the middle partition and another 3 bricks of the right compartment. The third row, like every odd one, is laid out in the same way as the first, the fourth and all subsequent even ones are laid out in the same way as the second.

Thus, the masonry is built up to the thirteenth row inclusive. Now you need to prepare a sheet of plasterboard or LMDF measuring 130x80 cm. The sheet is folded into an arc (the plasterboard needs to be trimmed for this) and inserted into the woodpile compartment so that its lower edges are on the seam between the sixth and seventh row. In this way, the formwork of the arch is formed; it must be supported from below with vertical and oblique planks, which are cut in place.

In the front part of the arch, 7-8 bricks are laid out like a fan; in the lower part, the seam between them is slightly less than a centimeter and expands with a wedge. The front ends of the bricks are generally aligned flush with the walls and partition. First, the bricks of the arch are fixed with mortar in the back, visually aligned and left for an hour to set. During this time, you need to knock down and press against the front of the barbecue a small formwork panel, the top of which is flush with the thirteenth row of masonry.

The seams between the stones of the arch must be carefully filled with mortar, compacting it with the edge of a trowel. The deeper part of the arch can be filled with broken bricks and mortar. Ultimately, flush with the formwork and the top row is displayed cement strainer.

Arrangement of the cooking area: on a grid or on skewers

The fourteenth row of masonry is carried out like all even rows, with the exception of adding half a brick in the front part. Instead, along the front of the grill, the row is closed with four bricks. The cement screed is covered with the same masonry: here, three bricks alternate in the second horizontal row, two with half additions in the third, and so on, right up to the back wall, that is, the bottom of the firebox is completely covered with brick.

In the area where the table top is installed, the addition of the fourteenth row is missing and this is how the reduction of the right side wall begins. With each new row, its depth will be reduced by half a brick.

The barbecue area is reported in a similar way to the lower rows. There are 19 rows in the grill, that is, its total height is just over 120 cm.

The front of the grill remained open. A row of three bricks is laid flat in it, then a row of two stones with half additions, on top the masonry is done in a quarter. Two identical rows are laid out at the back wall of the grill, forming its second side. The clearance between the sides is about 70 cm, which means that both a grill grate and skewers can be used on the grill. The width of the grill is also 70 cm, that is, it is designed for simultaneous preparation of six servings of shish kebab.

There is a little trick: two rows of masonry on the front side can be successfully replaced with a 180 mm steel channel. In this case, you will be able to adjust the width of the grill for skewers and grates, and it will also make it easier to remove ash.

Jointing or grouting

To make the barbecue look like a beautiful and complete object, it is recommended to use the fence post technique. You will get uniform seams of the same thickness if you apply the solution along two 10 mm bars of smooth reinforcement.

As a result, the seam will take a neat semicircular shape, but you can always take the time to decorate if you fill it flush with the brick. Firstly, the masonry can be embroidered a day after the completion of the last row. Secondly, you have the right to leave everything as is and treat visible surfaces with an emery stone after final drying. In addition to the fact that such roughing looks good in itself, due to the absence of recesses, dust will not accumulate on the seams, and greasy stains can be relatively easily removed by repeated sanding.

Auxiliary elements

Well, in conclusion, let’s mention various improvised means that simplify the preparation of fried meat. First of all, this is the tabletop in the adjacent barbecue compartment. It can be installed on corners secured with dowels along inner contour. It is also possible at the construction stage to lay several steel plates under the thirteenth row so that they protrude inward with “tongues” of 40-50 mm. The tabletop in both cases is removable and installed as needed. For permanent installation and only “liquid stone” is suitable for all-season use.

Other additions to the barbecue that will be very useful are a grate for a woodpile, a trash can with a pedal-operated lid, and a vegetable washer embedded in the countertop. Don’t forget to also consider a flat “lid” on low legs for the barbecue, so that sudden rain does not interfere with cooking. Soulful feasts!

A beautiful barbecue oven will decorate your yard

The main thing in the design of a garden roaster is proper heat distribution. For this purpose, the barbecue and brick grill have three vertical walls and a chimney for exhausting combustion products. The heat from the fuel rushes upward into the hood, so working at such a grill is a pleasure. Such garden stoves They hold heat for a long time, so you can fry more than one batch of meat while the coals are cooling.

It's all about practical side affairs. But there is also a purely aesthetic one - such structures, made with your own hands, can become a real decoration for the recreation area on your site. The main thing here is to maintain reasonable proportions and correctly combine the architecture of the structure with the overall design project of the estate. The most popular today is the country style, which combines rustic simplicity and practicality with solidity and special aesthetics. Natural stone decoration and powerful canopies that can hide from bad weather are the main features of this style.

Brick barbecue complex: dimensions and design

If you are planning to build an outdoor brick barbecue, it makes sense to consider a complex structure. It can include work surfaces for arranging dishes and cutting meat, a firewood rack for storing fuel, a cauldron, additional accessories for smoking meat and fish.

You can focus on the following dimensions:

  • the minimum width of the oven is 60 centimeters, the optimal is 80. The dimensions largely depend on the brick used;
  • The height of the grill is 70 centimeters. These parameters can be adjusted to suit your height;
  • the stove itself and the place for fuel are located 10 centimeters below the grill;
  • The height of the barbecue is at least 2 meters, and taking into account the chimney - all 3.

These are the dimensions of the simplest design. Add to them countertops and other accessories you need, and you get general dimensions complex.

How to choose the right place for a barbecue structure

Location - important point in the construction of a barbecue complex. There are several tips for selecting a territory:

  • a stove with an open fire cannot be built near wooden buildings and other flammable objects;
  • It is better to choose the location of the complex away from home, so that smoke and food aromas do not come through open windows;

  • smoke from the stove should not disturb your neighbors, otherwise your plans for a barbecue may be disrupted by the arrival of the fire brigade.

If we sum up these requirements, it turns out that the most a good option The location of the barbecue is the backyard on the leeward side.

Brick BBQ Projects: Popular Models

Any construction begins with a project. You cannot do without it in this case either. The sketch of your future complex needs to be turned into an order. This is not easy, so for beginners best advice will use drawings and photographs of brick barbecue projects with a finished arrangement. So, it will be easy to imagine the location of each brick. Such drawings for making a brick barbecue with your own hands can be found for free on many resources. We have selected a few for you as examples.

How to build a brick barbecue oven with your own hands

It would seem that building a barbecue is a simple matter. Nevertheless, it is worth approaching it with all responsibility. The durability of the structure will depend on your approach. Correctly selected material and stable design, good finish- all these are components of success.

Selection of material and necessary tools

To build a foundation you will need cement, sand and gravel or crushed stone. Foundation reinforcement is performed using metal fittings. For the stove, in addition to bricks, you will need to buy a stainless steel sheet, metal pan, roof tiles, metal corner and wooden beam.

And now about what brick to use for a barbecue. Keep in mind: a barbecue can only be built from special, fire-resistant bricks, and not everyone has such qualities construction material.

For building a barbecue, only fireclay or ceramic brick. The firebox itself is usually made from fireclay, and ceramic is used to construct the chimney. The main requirements for bricks for barbecue:

  • brick density in technical documentation is from 20 to 100 units;
  • frost resistance (marked in documents with the letter F) - from 30 to 300;
  • the brick should not have cracks, chips or other visible defects;
  • The porosity of the material should be low, and the color should be uniform.

You can quickly check the brick right in the warehouse: hit it with a hammer. The tool will bounce off a good solid brick. Poor quality will immediately “pop up” in cracks.

To work you will need ordinary tools mason: shovel and trough for preparing the binder mixture, trowel, building level, a tool for jointing.

Basics of making a do-it-yourself drawing of a brick barbecue

It all depends on whether you are going to build just a stove with a hood or build a gazebo around it. If we are talking only about the barbecue, then a primitive drawing with size calculations will do. You should start from the dimensions of the building materials. The height of the foundation is usually 3-40 centimeters, the dimensions are one square meter. A firewood rack is usually planned under the brazier. It is much more difficult if you are planning a brick barbecue in a gazebo. Here you will have to start with the layout of the canopy itself, calculations of its area and location of the brazier.

There should be a meter of free space in front of the grill to make it convenient to cook. You also need to think about where the table will be located and plan a place for pulling out chairs.

Step-by-step instructions for building a barbecue oven with oven and cutting table

Let's figure out how to independently create a monolithic brick barbecue with a cutting table.

IllustrationDescription of action
The work begins with determining the location and marking the area for the barbecue complex. After marking, select about 20 centimeters of soil and install sides for pouring.
Fill the prepared area with crushed stone and prepare a reinforced frame for pouring.
Fill the prepared area with concrete. Use for filling quality cement brands not lower than 300.
The lower part of the barbecue can also be made from foam blocks. They will not be subject to heat since they are not in direct contact with the fryer.
The author of this project used original idea− used to fill the base of the roasting pan wave slate. I made sides for it and secured it with mortar directly onto the base masonry.
Fill the base concrete mortar and wait a few days until he does.
For the roasting pan, you need to make a metal tray from thick-walled steel.
A small oven for baking over an open fire can be made from an old gas cylinder.
After installing the stove, you can mark the place for the brazier and begin laying its walls.
Carry out the laying consistently. By the way, the back wall can be made of less “ornamental” brick, since it will still turn black from smoke after the first cooking.
To install a chimney pipe, gradually narrow the masonry upward.
The chimney pipe can be adapted from concrete pipe or an old metal barrel.
Lay out the cutting table ceramic tiles. This surface will be easy to wipe clean.
The lower part of the structure must be closed. To do this, make wooden doors.
Install the doors and place inside the firewood and the necessary equipment for cooking: baking sheets, grates, and so on.
Place a roasting rack over the roasting pan. To install the grille during the laying process, you need to remove the metal pins on which it will rest.
Enjoy the process. In such a complex you can cook pies and bake meat and vegetables.

How to beautifully decorate a brick barbecue

The design of a barbecue complex can be very diverse. you can use a natural stone, it looks very colorful against the backdrop of the garden. Tiles, colored bricks, plastering and the use of real tiles are popular.

Brick brazier is a special brazier for preparing shish kebab, built of brick. A solid brick grill is often more functional and is used as a grill and barbecue; often other dishes are cooked on it, even just to heat up food. This is also an interesting art object in a suburban area. It’s nice to gather around such a structure with a large group.

How to choose a place?

  • Do not forget that this structure is an object of increased fire hazard. It should not be located near the house, wooden or other flammable outbuildings.
  • The building should not be too far from the resting place. Perfect option- near the gazebo or not far from the summer kitchen. You can put up a wide canopy that will not only protect the brick grill from precipitation, but also cover a couple of benches and a table.
  • Be sure to arrange the site. There should be no flower beds or beds nearby, as the grass will simply wither due to high temperatures. You should consider a convenient approach, or better yet several. There should be no toilet or trash containers nearby.
  • If the wind constantly blows in one direction, make sure that smoke does not enter the windows of residential buildings.

What is needed for construction?

The best material for construction is fireclay brick (kiln). He endures big differences temperature and does not collapse. Use clay and sand as a mortar for masonry. But it requires pre-soaking.

For an outdoor brick grill you will need good foundation, which means you will need building material for the foundation (cement, sand, rubble stone, plywood or formwork boards, reinforcement, stones and crushed stone).

You will also need metal corners, grilles, latches, and a sheet of iron. If you plan to make niches and a work area, you will need a tabletop made of stone; the doors can be made of wood or metal.

Tools needed:

  • shovel;
  • Master OK;
  • level;
  • buckets for solutions;
  • concrete mixer or trough;
  • Circular Saw.

A project must be developed or a ready-made one taken. It is not only convenient to carry out work, but also to calculate required quantity materials. A small supply never hurts, but there is no need to have large surpluses.

Pouring the foundation

Stationary barbecue a brick foundation is required:

  • It is necessary to dig a hole according to the size of the project.
  • Line the bottom of the pit with rubble stone and crushed stone, and install the formwork (it is better to moisten it).
  • Next the hole is filled concrete mixture made of cement and sand in a ratio of 1:3, but in layers and laying reinforcing mesh. Under no circumstances should the reinforcement lie at the bottom of the pit. If the pit is small and the walls are smooth, then formwork is not needed.
  • The top of the foundation is covered with roofing felt or ordinary film.
  • When the weather is hot, it is recommended to occasionally spray the base with water to ensure uniform drying. It will take 1-2 weeks for the concrete to set and dry. Brick laying is carried out only after the foundation has completely hardened.
  • During this time, you can prepare a clay solution. It is necessary to soak the clay in the tub for a week, stirring occasionally and adding water if necessary. Then add sand. Good solution The consistency resembles thick sour cream; it should be easy to handle with your hands and not spread.
  • It is easy to check the quality of the solution. To do this, mix a small amount of clay with dry sand. Roll it into a rope with a diameter of 1 cm. It should not lose its shape, crack or spread.

Bricklaying

Order brick barbecue shown in the following figure. If you want to draw the order yourself, then it is most convenient to do this on a piece of paper in a cage.

The easiest way to lay a brick barbecue is to move each row by half a brick in one direction or the other. Laying the plinth should begin from the corners towards the center along pre-marked lines. Every 3 rows, check the level and plumb line, and also lay down the reinforcing mesh.

The first row of masonry, like the second, is made continuous. The base may have different heights, depending on the project, and several compartments in which it is convenient to store firewood, charcoal, some utensils, etc.

For the brazier, you can use a pre-cast concrete base with reinforcement or lay it out of brick.

If the firebox is planned to be arched, then a circle is used. A gap of 1 cm is left between the bricks. It is best to use wood chips for this. This way you can distribute the bricks evenly. Only after this the space is sprayed with water and filled with solution. The circle is left for 1-2 days.

The top of the firebox is covered with a reinforced concrete beam or an iron corner. Another row of bricks is laid on top of the lintel.

If you plan to use a brick grill as a barbecue, then you need to think in advance about where to install the grate. For this purpose small protrusions are made. The grill itself is placed on reinforcement bars embedded in the walls of the building. You can make several projections to be able to place the grill at different levels.

Next, wind walls are laid and a smoke collector is made. The pipe is attached to supporting columns and gradually narrows. This is the most simple design. And to protect it from precipitation, a metal canopy is installed above it.

IN simple circuits For barbecues made of brick, the pipe may be completely absent, as well as wind walls.

Finishing and canopy

In order for the building to last as long as possible, it is necessary to build a canopy.

He can be:

  • general and cover the entire recreation area;
  • be located directly above the grill.

For this purpose, under the pillars of the canopy are made concrete bases or attached to the base. The supports can be metal or wood. In the latter case, according to fire safety rules, they are required to be at least 16 cm away from the structure and treated with special antiseptics.

The roof for the canopy is made from absolutely any material. But if it is combined with the roof of the house and other outbuildings, then the brick grill will harmoniously fit into the overall landscape.

The structure can be left as it is, just by walking a little grinder. Can be coated with special paints for brick kilns. The finishing from decorative stone. You can also use special plaster.

More use various elements decor not only on the grill itself, but also on the doors of built-in cabinets, shelves, etc.

Watch the following video, which clearly shows the process of building a brick grill.

Projects, diagrams and drawings

There are many ready-made projects for brick barbecues, varying in level of complexity, costs and decorative options. You can develop your own drawing based on existing diagrams.

We present a barbecue diagram, according to which it is easy to build a barbecue out of brick with your own hands.

Typically, the height from the ground to the roasting pan is defined as the distance from the level of the hand to the floor. If the owner is tall, then the firebox will be located quite high. The width of the frying pan does not exceed 30 cm, otherwise a standard skewer will simply fall into it. Most often it does not exceed 1 m in length, based on 10 skewers.

You can build a brick grill with your own hands according to the following drawing.

A barbecue is nothing more than a simple hearth designed for preparing specific types of dishes over an open fire. To fry meat or poultry on skewers or a grill, you do not need to build a complex, heavy structure. The simplest grill can be made of brick in a matter of minutes, even without using clay mortar. If the structure is not disposable, but at least seasonal, it makes sense to make a more substantial grill. Equally simple in design, but more reliable and convenient.

What is this article about?

The simplest grill

Such a brick structure without the use of mortar is built on a quick fix, or if not collapsible barbecue from sheet metal, but I really want to cook kebabs or freshly caught fish.

At standard sizes Just 1-2 bricks stacked on top of each other give the required height.

For laying the barbecue, choose a flat area without slopes. If the soil is covered with turf, it is first cut along a perimeter slightly larger than the perimeter of the future “structure.” Roll it up or lay it down nearby with the grass. You will need it after completing your rest and dismantling the temporary barbecue to close the fire pit.

The bricks are laid in 2 rows of 3 pieces - it turns out long side barbecue – 75 cm.

The end sides are laid with the remaining 4 bricks - the width of the grill is 25 cm.

The bricks are laid on top of each other without ligation, leaving 1–1.5 cm gaps between the ends for free air flow to the firewood or coal.

Simple stationary grill

It is difficult to call this design stationary, although it can last more than one season. It is advisable to build it on summer cottage, which is used periodically, and barbecues and noisy companies are an infrequent occurrence.

The difference between this design and the simplest barbecue folded “dry” will be in larger sizes and possible modifications, reflecting preferences barbecue cook. If you are a fan of classic kebabs, you won’t need any complicating elements. The structure will still be the same brick box. Only there will be not 2 rows, but 4-5. The bricks will not be stacked one on top of the other, but with a bandage - shifting the top row relative to the bottom by half a brick. To prevent the structure from crumbling from an accidental shock, a clay solution will be used.

To build such a barbecue, it is not required.

It can be erected on any flat, dry surface. The base can be an iron sheet 4-5 mm thick, concrete slab or a leveled area covered with compacted sand or fine gravel.

To make it convenient to cook on the grill without squatting in front of it, its height along the top edge should be 0.7 meters.

In order to save material, legs of the required height can be made from sections of pipes, steel angles, or use old table With metal legs and a removed wooden tabletop.

If there are a lot of bricks, you can make legs from bricks. In this case, waterproofing must be laid between the base and legs - rolled roofing felt.

After laying out the legs, which will be located at the corners of the structure, a sheet of iron or a frame welded from steel corners is placed on them. You can complement the grill with a small table by placing a longer sheet.

The first row of a brick grill, if corners are used, must be continuous. It is completely bricked, forming the “under” of the hearth.

When laying 2 and 3 rows, gaps of 1-1.5 cm are left between the ends of the bricks; they will act as a blower. Each subsequent row is placed with a dressing in relation to the bottom row. Variations in size are possible only according to the length of the barbecue. The width remains standard - 25-30 cm, otherwise the skewers that are not long enough will fall into the grill or become very hot.

The inconvenience of such a barbecue is cleaning from ash. It will have to be taken out after the structure has cooled from above, leaning over the edge of the grill.

Complicated designs of simple barbecues

Changes can be made to the design to significantly increase ease of use and functionality. With minor modifications, such a hearth can be used as a barbecue, as a barbecue, as a stove and even as a smokehouse.

The principle of construction of such a barbecue does not differ from that discussed above. The difference is that not individual legs are laid out of brick, but three walls, two side and back. The resulting niche is subsequently used for storing or storing dry firewood.

The distance between the grate and the upper edge of the grill allows you to cover it with a lid and makes it possible to use the structure for hot smoking fish. You can place heat-resistant dishes on the grill - pots, pans, kettles. During the period of active burning of wood, when coals are being prepared for kebabs or barbecues, use it as a stove for preparing first courses - shurpa, fish soup.
