Well insulation is a technology for thermal insulation of a water well for the winter. The nuances of insulating a well from concrete rings How to insulate a well ring

Types and causes of well freezing. Features of their thermal insulation in preparation for winter, the need for such work and methods for their implementation.

Types of wells

Wells personal plots differ from each other in the type of construction and their purpose. Conventionally, they can be divided into three groups:
  • Wells for water supply. Such structures are located in farms where there is no running water or where it is not possible to connect it to the house. The well in this case becomes the main source drinking water.
  • Technical wells. They are designed for placement and maintenance of utility lines.
  • Plumbing wells. These structures serve to collect Wastewater or serve as cesspools. Their distinctive feature- presence of a septic tank.
To insulate the above structures, different materials are used.

Causes of well freezing

Before insulating a well, it is important to understand the reason for its freezing to such an extent that the water in it turns into ice.

There are several reasons:

  1. Lack of insulation on the walls of the shaft at the time of completion of its construction.
  2. The boundary of the aquifer is located above the freezing level of the soil. The liquid reaches sub-zero temperatures upper layers soil and therefore freezes.
  3. The top of the well is open. In winter, frosty air easily penetrates the water surface and forms an ice crust on it. As the temperature difference between cold air and water increases, the thickness of the ice increases.
  4. High thermal conductivity of the shaft material. If brick or reinforced concrete was used during its construction, water in an uninsulated well will freeze quickly in winter. It’s not for nothing that springs were made from logs in the old days. Such structures, even without insulation, practically did not freeze thanks to unique properties wood

The need to insulate the well

Wells year-round use, which are available mainly rural residents, they are insulated during the construction stage. But similar water sources, which are usually used by summer residents only from spring to autumn, are quite often equipped without thermal insulation. And this can cause a whole series of unpleasant consequences:
  • Freezing of water in a well begins much later than the temperature outside drops below 0 degrees. Typically, the initial signs of ice crust formation appear at frost levels of -15-20 degrees, and the higher the water in the source, the faster it will freeze.
  • The most obvious problem created by an ice crust in a well is the inability to draw water from it. Even thin layer ice a couple of centimeters thick can be a serious obstacle, since it is unlikely to be broken through with a bucket.
  • Another unpleasant feature of freezing water is its volumetric expansion. Ice jam can press on the walls of the shaft with a force capable of breaking the joints of its elements or causing cracks in the structure.
  • If equipment is located in the well, ice formation can damage, for example, the pump or lead to cracking of its hoses. This is precisely the reason for insulating water meters - the effect of sub-zero temperatures on the delicate mechanisms of their meters will most likely lead to a decrease in the accuracy of the devices.
As can be seen from this list, there are more than enough arguments regarding the benefits of insulating a well for the winter. Therefore, it will be right to devote time and small investments in order to avoid many problems later.

Methods for thermal insulation of a well

There are three ways to insulate a well: thermal insulation of its lid, upper ring and erection of a house over the neck of the shaft. Next, we will consider each of these methods separately.

Insulating the well cover

The technology of such insulation is not particularly complex. Its purpose is to install an additional cover into the shaft cavity at the level of the ground surface.

For work you need to prepare: plywood, wire and glue, PVC pipe, insulation 50-80 mm thick and polyurethane foam.

The process of insulating the well cover should be carried out in stages:

  1. From a sheet of plywood you need to cut two circles with a diameter corresponding to internal size well shafts. A pair of matching holes should be cut in each of them. One pair will be designed to feed the water pump hose into the well, and the other will be for the PVC ventilation pipe. Ventilation in this case is extremely necessary, since in a tightly closed shaft the water may acquire a musty taste over time. The diameter of the holes should be about 60 mm; it is advisable to drill them from one edge of the cut circles. Along the circumference of the future cover, slightly retreating from its edge, you should drill 4 holes for the wire in one of the plywood blanks.
  2. Now you need to cut out another similar circle, but from foam plastic. After this, the insulation needs to be fixed with wood glue on the lower plywood blank, and the second circle should be glued on top of it. When the glue has dried, a ventilation pipe must be inserted into the prepared holes. Suitable for sealing joints polyurethane foam.
  3. At the final stage of insulating the well with foam plastic and plywood, it is necessary to make a ring from wire for removing and replacing the manufactured cover. To do this, you need to wrap it with wire around the circumference and fix the resulting ring on the lid with ties using the four holes previously drilled in it. Then the water pump hose should be passed through the hole prepared for it and the finished cover should be lowered into the well to the level of the ground line. Thermal insulation will be kept in the shaft thanks to the wire, ventilation will be carried out through a PVC pipe, and the water in the well will not freeze.

Insulation of the well ring

Insulation of the upper ring of the well in order to prevent its freezing can be done using foam-based materials or polyurethane. Let's consider both options for such thermal insulation.

To insulate the rings of a well with polystyrene foam or its derivatives, it is necessary to prepare insulation boards, waterproofing, polyurethane foam and paint before work. The amount of materials should be calculated taking into account the fact that the entire upper ring will be thermally insulated, and the one located below will be partially insulated.

The procedure is as follows:

  • First, you need to dig around the well around its circumference or perimeter, freeing its walls from soil. The result should be a trench 30-40 cm wide and depth below the freezing mark in winter.
  • Adhered soil residues from the rings should be removed and proceed to pasting them outer surface polystyrene foam, polystyrene foam or penoplex. Sheets of insulation must be placed as close to each other as possible. The glue can be liquid foam or polyurethane foam. Using the same materials, it is necessary to seal all the gaps between the sheets of thermal insulation. When insulating a well with penoplex, there may be no gaps at all, since its slabs have locking connections"tenon and groove".
  • Pasted thermal insulation needs protection from moisture and salts contained in the soil. Therefore, after installation, the insulation must be coated on the outside with paint, and then, when it dries, wrapped in roofing felt or other waterproof material.
  • At the final stage of work, the cavity between the edge of the trench and the well must be filled with expanded clay or gravel, and a clay castle, which will prevent water from penetrating from the soil surface to the well insulation. The thickness of the clay layer should be about 40 cm.
To insulate the well rings with polyurethane foam, you will need dowels, wooden blocks, collapsible steel formwork, film, plaster mixture and a sprayer.

The work should be done in this order:

  1. As in the previous case, you need to dig a trench around the well, but less wide - up to 10 cm. Then, on the wall of the ring from the outside around the circumference, you should install bars in increments of 40 cm.
  2. The edge of the trench must be lined with formwork, securing a plastic film inside it to prevent adhesion of liquid polyurethane foam with metal sheets. If this is not done, it will not be possible to remove the formwork later.
  3. The cavity obtained between the formwork and the wall of the well must be filled with insulation using a sprayer. As it is filled, the polyurethane foam will expand in volume, forming a dense, seamless insulating coating.
  4. When the insulation has dried, the formwork must be removed, the insulation must be plastered and painted to protect it from ground moisture. The cavity in place of the disassembled formwork should be filled with soil and compacted.
A well whose rings have been insulated using any of the methods described above is recommended to be additionally covered with a lid.

Insulating house for a well

Building a house to insulate a well hatch is a relatively expensive but simple method. In addition to the fact that such a house can reliably protect the neck of the structure from debris, cold and precipitation, it helps create a favorable microclimate in the spring. A small hut made of boards or a log house installed on it will minimize the risk of freezing of its upper part of the walls. Therefore, ice formation inside such a structure is unlikely. Also, a house on a well is an excellent decoration for a site. Inside the structure you can place a gate with a bucket or a modern caisson with a pump.

The house can be built in this way:

  • You need to dig a trench around the neck of a concrete or brick well. Its depth should be approximately 30 cm, width - 50 cm, which is taken to be 20 cm larger than the width of the planned log house.
  • The bottom of the finished trench should be leveled and then compacted. After this, the trench must be filled with gravel.
  • It is necessary to lay timber on the resulting blind area lower crown wooden frame. A timber with a cross section of 150x150 mm, treated with moisture-resistant mastic, is ideal. For additional protection It is recommended to place a couple of layers of roofing material under the crown to prevent wood from rotting.
  • The rest of the frame must be assembled from profiled timber or rounded logs. The height of the log house depends on the size of the well neck protruding above the ground. During the assembly process, jute tape must be laid between the rows of crowns: the presence of this sealant will save time on caulking.
  • The cavity between the neck and the walls of the log house must be filled with thermal insulation - expanded clay, polystyrene foam, etc.
  • When the walls of the house are ready, you can install the roof frame. To do this, it is enough to connect two pairs of wooden rafters with a ridge strip.
  • The roof gables need to be covered with boards. Then in one of them you should make a door necessary for access to the well gate or pump.
  • You need to mount a sheathing of slats or plywood on the rafters and fasten panels of ondulin, slate or other roofing material to it.
A clear advantage of this design is that it aesthetic appearance and opportunity easy access to the water. To do this, just open the door.

Thermal insulation of a structure for sewage, that is, a cesspool, is practically no different from insulating a well with polystyrene foam, polystyrene foam or similar materials. The only difference is the need additional work for thermal insulation of pipes transporting sewage waste from the house to the plumbing well. These works, as well as insulating the lid, should be done first. After this, the walls of the well are subject to thermal insulation, which must be done using one of the methods described above.

How to insulate a well - watch the video:

If the well is insulated with high quality, it will not create problems for its owners even in the most very coldy. However, one should not forget about the thermal insulation of pumping equipment and pipelines - their trouble-free operation is also extremely important. Good luck!

In some areas, only wells remain sources of clean drinking water. This may be due to various factors, such as the condition of the pipeline, which has not been maintained for decades. Therefore, they are cherished like the apple of their eye. Since the wells have different depths, their resistance to frost is different. Frozen water can be catastrophic in a home where it is the only source. To prevent this from happening, it is important to insulate the well for the winter. Is such an event necessary and what materials are best suited for this? This will be discussed in the article.

Should you be afraid?

In my own way functional purpose wells are not only water-bearing. There are some where the main water supply units are laid, others are used as a head for a well where a pump with an injector is installed. There are also those that were designed for use as cesspool or septic tank. Each of them may need insulation, so you should make sure of the following points:

  • Pipeline depth. If pumping equipment is installed in the well and it supplies the house, then it is worth measuring at what depth it is located. If its position is above freezing of the soil or at its level, then the water in the well may freeze and insulation is required.
  • The well cover is missing. This can cause snow to get in, causing poor water quality. In addition, constant heat exchange can lead to freezing if the depth of the well is not too deep. Therefore, insulation of the well is required.
  • Small well depth. The water surface can be at a level of 5 and 8 meters. In this case, there is nothing particularly to worry about. But if the water in the well rises to 2 meters from the surface, then it is worth carrying out work to insulate the well.
  • The wastewater inlet of the septic tank is located above the freezing point of the soil. Insulation is required not only for the well, but also for the pipes themselves.
  • Concrete rings. At large sub-zero temperatures The concrete rings of a well can act as a heat conductor, which can cause the water in the well to freeze.
  • There is no well head of sufficient height. Cold air enters the mine faster, so its construction and insulation is required.

Winters in one region are different from winters in another. Somewhere they are soft and experience may tell you that nothing bad can happen. But everything can change dramatically, so insulating the well will never hurt. There are cases when the river flow in a well is so fast that it does not have time to freeze in any frost. Insulation may not be required if the situation has not changed in the last few years.

If the well is in country house or at the dacha, where you do not visit in winter, this does not mean that it does not need insulation. The fact is that when water freezes, it expands and can harm the mine. This often leads to displacement of the well rings or their destruction. And replacing the lower rings requires a lot of effort. In such conditions, the seams lose their tightness faster, which means they will have to be constantly maintained and, accordingly, the well must be cleaned. The intention to make insulation is very good, all that remains is to figure out the materials that can be used to implement it.

What is better to use

Not so long ago, the main insulating material used for insulation was glass wool, as well as polystyrene foam. But the industry does not stand still and new insulation solutions are being developed that have improved properties and have greater thermal insulation. So, you can use:

After analyzing the list of insulation materials, you can choose the one that best suits your budget and planned work. There are several ways to insulate a well, which will be discussed below.

We insulate differently

Options for insulating a well vary depending on what goals are being pursued. This can be partial insulation, it can also be carried out from the inside and outside. Each of them has its own pros and cons. Also, one or more types of insulation are suitable for each.

Locking cap for well

This is one of the most simple ways insulation. It is suitable in cases where winters in the region are not too severe. This process is also called internal insulation. To implement it you will need boards, preferably oak. Their length should be slightly larger than the diameter of the shaft. Tools you will need include a screwdriver, tape measure, jigsaw or hacksaw, marker or pencil. It is better to choose expanded polystyrene, foamed polyethylene or polyurethane foam as insulation.

Two identical shields are knocked down from the boards. The boards should fit tightly against one another so that there are no gaps between them. If possible, then milling machine you can make a castle. Using a jigsaw or hacksaw, the shields are given round form. The diameter should be slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the ring so that the lid falls freely inward. The shield, which will be closer to the water, is wrapped in oilcloth or other waterproofing material. This is required so that the wood does not rot from constant exposure to moisture. Insulation is placed on top of it and fixed using foam or self-tapping screws with plastic washers, which will ensure a secure fit.

The second shield completes the entire structure. The result should be a “pie”, the “filling” of which is insulation. It is better to close the ends so that the layer does not become frayed. It is better not to use polystyrene foam, because it can crumble and fall into the water, but catching it is a task that will take time. Next, you will need a ladder, with its help you need to go down below the level to which the ground usually freezes. Holes are made in the walls into which HEX type bolts are placed. They will serve as a limiter for the lid. A holder is made of wire or other material to the lid itself so that it can be easily pulled out and, if necessary, placed back. In the case when water is removed from the well using a bucket in winter, then a small door is additionally made, which opens with a rope or wire.

Note! Additionally, you can insulate the inside of the well from above and to the level of soil freezing. Isolon or other material is suitable for this. Using polyurethane foam or umbrellas, it is mounted on the walls of the rings. This should only be done if external insulation is not possible or this will not be an obstacle to using the source.

A good solution would also be to build a superstructure. It can be in the form of a house or another shape. Its main purpose will be to compensate for temperature differences by creating air cushion. In order for it to fully fulfill its role, its design must be hermetically sealed to a certain extent, i.e., not have large cracks and do not let direct air flow through. Additionally, this type is insulated with outside and sheathed with galvanized metal or film.

External insulation

To insulate a well in this way, there are three main solutions for a well. One of them was mentioned in the note above. Another is to reduce the freezing depth of the soil around the well to a minimum. Third - processing outer surface well rings. To make it easier to decide, it is important to understand:

  • how long does frost last?
  • how deep the ground freezes;
  • is there permafrost?

If after analysis it becomes clear that there is no permafrost, and the depth of soil freezing does not exceed 1-1.8 m, then you can get by with insulating the well head. To carry out the work you will need the following tools:

  • shovel;
  • roulette;
  • polyurethane foam;
  • construction knife;
  • marking tool;
  • board 30 cm wide;
  • nails or screws;
  • screwdriver or hammer;
  • hacksaw.

Using a tape measure, measure a distance of 0.7-1 m from the well in four directions. Four markers in the form of pegs or pieces of reinforcement are driven in along the marked marks. A fishing line is stretched between them. It will serve as a guide for the cultivated area. Using a shovel, the soil around the well is removed to a depth of 50 cm. It is advisable to do this evenly to create a uniform area. The soil is compacted using a mechanical or manual tamper. Next, work is carried out to insulate the well head.

It is good to use extruded polystyrene foam for these purposes of insulating a well for the winter with your own hands. It perfectly resists mechanical stress and will last a long time. Multiple sheets using construction knife cut into small rectangles. Their height should be such that it will be equal to the distance from the compacted soil to the top of the well ring. The smaller the width, the easier it will be to repeat the circle. To avoid gaps between the elements through which cold bridges form, they can be cut at an angle so that they fit together better. Fixation to the well is done using polyurethane foam and construction umbrellas. After completing the procedure, the reinforcing mesh is glued and the screed is made with glue. Finishing at the request of the owner.

The next step is to make a blind area for the well, which will reduce the level of soil freezing. Coarse-grained soil is laid on compacted earth in a layer of 15 cm. river sand. It compacts well. To make this easier, you can moisten it with water from a hose or bucket. After everything is soaked, a layer of crushed stone or pebbles is laid. Its height is also 15 cm. It levels well. Formwork is assembled from boards. Intertwined reinforcement rods are laid around the well. A solution of cement, sand and crushed stone is prepared. It is poured into the formwork and leveled. It is better not to do ironing, because it will make the surface very smooth and slippery when wet.

Note! Such an event is usually accompanied by the installation of a house on top.

External insulation in depth

This procedure for insulating a well is the most labor-intensive, but also the most reliable. To implement this, you will need the tools mentioned above. Before starting work on insulating the well, you need to go down inside and fasten all the rings with staples, if this has not been done previously. A trench is dug around the well with a shovel. Its depth should be below the soil freezing level (at least 30-50 cm). The walls are periodically cleaned so that a collapse does not occur and you do not have to repeat everything again for your own safety.

As insulation for a well, you can use polystyrene foam in the same way as described above, but additionally place it on top waterproofing material, which will prevent the development of fungus and the destruction of insulation. The ideal solution polyurethane foam will be applied. He doesn't require finishing and will last for many years. If such means are not available, but household If you have reserves of expanded clay, then you can do the following to insulate the well.

Waterproofing is placed in the dug trench around the well. It can be oilcloth or membrane. The latter should be laid in such a way that it gives moisture to the soil and does not let it back. In this case, the base must cover both the walls of the well, the bottom, and the outer wall. This is done because expanded clay absorbs moisture very well. And if this happens, then it will completely lose its properties and there will be no use for the well. Insulation is poured into the formed trench around the well. The edges of the membrane are wrapped and hermetically sealed. From above, the entire structure is covered with soil and compacted.

Important! A mandatory procedure will be to insulate the place where the pipe from the pump leaves the well and where it enters the house. If this is not done, then the well may be quite functional, but water will not flow into the home.

Conclusion

From the listed methods of insulating a well, feel free to choose the most suitable one according to your means and circumstances. After its completion in winter time you will never suffer from water shortages again.

There is little pleasure in being left without water in winter. It is doubly offensive if this happens through your fault. To prevent such a nuisance from happening, winter water, especially if it is the only source of moisture, is very important.

What is the best way to do this, and what will it take?

In this article we will look at some technologies that prevent liquids from freezing even at very low temperatures.

Without modern technologies today cannot be done, although some shortcomings can be found in them. For example, if we're talking about about concrete rings, which are now actively used for making wells. Their significant drawback is freezing.

Let's take a closer look at the progress of the upcoming work

  1. The well ring must be dug out about twenty centimeters - to the freezing depth. In total you will have to go deeper by about 1.2 meters. Since this is not very convenient, you will have to dig a fairly large pit. If you count the rings from above, then it is enough to limit yourself to a depth of 20 cm below the junction of the first two rings.
  2. We take layers of foam plastic and cut it into strips 20 cm wide. More suitable material high density, and even better would be to purchase extruded or regular.
  3. We clean the well rings from dirt and dust, moisten them with water, special glue glue the fragments of the prepared one.
  4. When the surface of the ring is completely covered, the gaps between the individual strips of foam are filled. Its excess is cut off after completely dry, the soil around the well is added, the well itself is put in order.

To prevent the polyurethane foam from fading in the sun and the foam from deteriorating, the structure is reinforced with mesh, then covered with a layer. This option is quite effective, but it does not help in all situations: the cold can penetrate through the top.

Therefore, it is advisable, without delay, to move on to the next method of insulation with your own hands.

Making a warm shutter

What is a warm seal?

We can say that this is a special cork with small holes made in it. One of them serves for ventilation and prevents water spoilage. The second is for the sediment intake hose. This option would be ideal for a dacha that is supplied with water from a well using.

How to make such a shutter lid?

  1. From moisture-resistant plywood you need to make two identical rings, corresponding in size internal diameter concrete well ring.
  2. One of the rings is pasted over with 5 centimeter foam plastic. All excess is carefully cut off: the foam circle should exactly repeat the shape of the plywood one.
  3. The second plywood circle is glued on top.
  4. The final stage. We drill two 6-centimeter holes (for ventilation and for the hose), make a handle to which we attach a thick rope or chain, so that in the spring you can easily pull out this plug.

There is nothing complicated in all these events, but there is also no special aesthetics here.

It should be noted that the considered methods of insulation with polystyrene foam are suitable only if the water supply is carried out using a pump.

If water is taken from the well with a bucket and a collar, then it is unlikely that the stopper will help. For such a case, there is another, third way to insulate a well with your own hands.

Insulation of water wells

This is a great option for any occasion. Exists the best way well insulation, which solves several problems at once: and the appearance summer cottage will not suffer at all, and the insulation will be done really well. This simple and practical method is the construction of a special one.

Closed well house

This design solves the following problems:

  • Prevents water contamination from leaves and other small debris. A well-thought-out and airtight house with a tight lid will not allow anything unnecessary to get into the source.
  • The well will not freeze in winter. In the only case such a house will not save you from freezing if the water level in the well is above the freezing level. If this is the case, then we will still have to implement additional insulation the upper well ring with polystyrene foam.

If the well seems too complicated for you, you can make the task easier for yourself. At least you won't have to do most of the work yourself. Foam half-rings, a warm seal and sealed quality houses themselves can be purchased at hardware stores.

All you need to do is install these products, and this, of course, is much easier. Well, factory-made products, in many cases, will look much more aesthetically pleasing than homemade ones. This is especially true for the well house. However, only those made with my own hands Interior items will give the site a unique and original look.

Useful video

In private houses located in regions where there is enough low temperatures, the question arises about using wells in winter. If they are not insulated, the water may freeze. The pipes and pump will freeze, and there is a chance you will be left without water supply. Insulation of a well can certainly be done, and in some cases with your own hands, without the help of special teams.

No need to insulate

In those structures where the water is below the freezing level, the water remains in in good condition, no ice.

We need to insulate

If the groundwater level in the area where you live is high, then there is a chance that the water in the well will freeze. An ice plug freezes on its surface, which can reach a thickness of up to half a meter. With any movement: the pump is activated or the level simply drops, this plug, whose weight reaches up to 500 kg, can fall down and cause significant damage.

If the well is shallow, it can freeze completely. In this case, cracking will occur concrete rings and their displacement, cable breakage, freezing of the pump and drainage pipes. The entire water supply system will be inoperative. Expensive repairs and replacement of all components will be required.

Insulation methods

In order to avoid unpleasant consequences, it is necessary to take a number of measures aimed at protecting against frost. Depending on how necessary it is, insulation can be divided into several options.

  • Installing a warm cover or decorative house to protect the top ring of the well from freezing
  • Insulation interior walls well and installation of a cover made of combined materials.
  • Draining the water supply system before the onset of cold weather. This measure is necessary if you do not live in the house permanently. It is necessary to drain water from all systems of the house and in the well.

Village well

If it is built on your site wooden well, made according to all village traditions, then such a structure does not need insulation. You can only install an insulated cover on top or wooden house. These measures will protect not only from the cold, but also from debris.

Village well

Reinforced concrete well

Currently doing reinforced concrete structures, which are most susceptible to destruction when frozen.

Insulating cover

To prevent the plug from freezing, an insulating cover is installed in the well at ground level. The lid should not touch the water surface. It is necessary to maintain a gap between them. You can make the lid yourself. This is done like this:

  • Two blanks equal to the diameter of the well are cut out of moisture-resistant plywood. Holes are cut in the panels for the ventilation pipe.
  • One shield is wrapped with waterproofing plastic film and lowered below ground level on suspensions. The hangers are fixed.
  • Solid insulation is laid on top - or.
  • The second shield is being laid
  • Inserted ventilation tube. It shouldn't touch the water

Wooden house

If the region is warm enough, the soil does not freeze to a great depth, groundwater low, then for insulation it will be enough to make a wooden log house over the well. Wood holds heat well. Such a log house must be made with blind areas, width equal depth soil freezing. For the blind area, dig a hole, lay crushed stone, sand, and concrete. A wooden frame is installed on top. The gap between the well and the log house is filled with insulation - mineral wool or expanded clay. Provides protection from precipitation and debris gable roof. To increase the service life of a wooden frame, you need to coat the wood antiseptic impregnation, for example Aquatex.

Reinforced concrete cover

Reinforced concrete cover, reinforced liquid glass, will last very long long term. Between the concrete rings of the well, the top and the first, a reinforced concrete cover with a hatch is installed, and it is poured on top. This is an expensive option. The price of such a cover will be more than 20,000 rubles.

Insulation of well walls

If the soil freezes seriously, a cover is not enough. The well itself must be insulated. You can choose a modern material according to your wishes. Regardless of what material you use, the first thing you need to do is dig a trench near the well to the depth of freezing of the soil.

This is how you can insulate a square well

Insulation with polystyrene foam

Clean the walls from soil and dirt. Currently, there are ready-made casings - half rings for such structures. We fasten them together using the tongue-and-groove method. The top of the casing needs to be painted. oil paint and cover with a layer of insulation - roofing felt or roofing felt to protect against moisture from the ground.

Foam insulation

Insulation with polyurethane foam

Apply to the walls of the structure This material is afraid ultraviolet rays. It must be protected with paint that does not contain acetone. It does not absorb moisture. PPU will fill all the cracks and reliably insulate. No need to order professional craftsmen. You can buy disposable installations for polyurethane foam. Do this process yourself using a nozzle - a gun.

If you are using a well all year round, then for especially severe frosts, the outlet pipe for water intake must also be insulated. Pipes are laid below the freezing level of the soil. If you don’t want to dig so deep, be sure to run a heating cable next to the pipe.

Well water is considered clean and healing.

The owners monitor its quality through constant repair work.

Today, a well made from a well has become a common type of installation of a water source. concrete rings.

One of the requirements for its use is insulation for the winter period.

To do such work yourself, you should study the recommendations and advice of experts, those who have already carried out similar actions on their site.

Why is well insulation required?

Ice not only prevents you from getting water from a well, it contributes to the formation cracks and chips in concrete. If the well is brought cable or pipe, their quality also deteriorates.

Cable rupture and pipe freezing will require repairs, which will be both complicated and expensive. It is especially dangerous if the log house is not insulated, freezes and thaws several times during the winter.

Rings are destroyed and grow old. The concrete structure itself won't last a person as much as he expected.

Measures against freezing

When installing a well on a site, experts advise to think in advance about the possibility of it freezing in winter period.

Already during the work of digging a source of drinking water and its construction, a number of works are carried out for protection concrete structure

Even if it is used for a short period of time, a number of protective measures must be taken.

  • processing of log walls disinfectants means;
  • pumping out water and drying the log house;
  • laying water pipes at the required level: below the soil freezing level;
  • additional pipe installation and fastenings of pumping equipment;
  • protection of concrete from impact natural phenomena, destroying its quality.

Insulation methods

The main requirement when carrying out construction workpreservation ecology of the internal environment and water composition.

All materials used for insulation must not violate quality water. In addition, materials are divided according to functional tasks.

What is used outside, not necessarily suitable for internal processing.

Cover insulation

The cover can be made from various materials:

  • wood;
  • reinforced concrete;
  • plastic.

Wood is a unique material, it does not require additional insulating layer.

A lid can be made from wood double: inside the concrete ring and outside

Internal will moderate temperature changes. External protects from dirt, snow and debris.

The second material (reinforced concrete) differs in durability operation, strength and reliability.

Plastic ceiling is installed inside concrete frame, approximately at the level of the top layer of soil.

  1. Two shields are cut out, the material is plywood moisture resistant quality.
  2. One is being processed waterproof mixture, wrapped in film, cellophane or other material to protect against moisture penetration.
  3. 3attached inside the rings metal rods, on which the first shield is laid.
  4. Spreads out insulation, any building material except mineral wool will do.
  5. The second one is fixed shield, also treated with insulation.
  6. All layers are fastened and wrapped waterproof cloth or cellophane.

The lid made in this way is supplemented with a pen, it is needed for ease of lowering and raising.

Insulation of well walls

Options There are quite a lot of insulating materials offered by trade organizations.

The choice remains with the developers. To insulate the walls, they dig outside trench. Its depth depends on level soil freezing.

There are few types of insulation that are popular:

There are many advantages of the material:

  • not subject to rotting;
  • does not deform under mechanical influence;
  • withstands the statement coming from the soil;
  • easy;
  • easy to install;
  • wear-resistant;
  • difficult to burn.

The last stage of work, after selecting the material and insulating the concrete structure with it, is digging a trench

Now the well will not be afraid of severe winter cold.

For the safety of the manufactured log house, when getting water with buckets or through hoses, they try to prevent water from getting on wall surface. Ice will damage the concrete and reduce its service life.

External insulation

WITH outside for insulation they build various houses. Their shape depends on the wishes of the developers.

Nadkolodezny the wooden frame will serve both as a design for the concrete structure and as insulation.

Tree retains heat and is easy to work with. Any design can be made from wood; it lends itself to painting and other design details.

Such houses become decorative decoration Total personal plot. Concrete rings round in shape, wooden log houses have corners.

Therefore, air remains between the rings and the tree. space. Experts advise filling it out expanded clay, it will complement the insulating functions of the external log house.

Any heat insulator, properly used for insulation, will protect against frost and temperature changes. The instructions describing the stages of construction activities provide a list necessary tools.

You can get ready, experiment on small areas, then proceed to the main work. Insulation is considered completed after insulating the lid, walls and outer surfaces.

All work is simple in technology and is possible for independent execution. The water will be protected from severe frosts and will remain clean and healthy at any time of the year.

The coolness of the water will delight users and lovers clean water from the bowels of the earth.

Uninsulated the construction of a concrete frame will require urgent capital repairs. The cost of the work will correspond to the installation of a new one.

Pumping equipment is better stored and operates during insulation.
