Damn things. The mystery of mirrors Mirror louis arpo history

Tales written in ancient times describe mythical properties antique mirrors... With the help of mirrors, fairy-tale characters could enter the world through the looking glass. Or they could have a glimpse of what was happening thousands of kilometers away. With the help of a mirror you can

A similar legend, only more ancient, is reminiscent of history antique killer mirror... As reported by the French press, they were approached by a group of antique dealers with an unusual request.

It looks like an ordinary mirror, framed by a mahogany frame, with the inscription 'Louis Arpo 1743', in general, it does not differ from many similar mirrors. But, the association of Parisian antiquaries pointed out that the possession of this mirror is deadly to life, and asked to inform, if possible, the location killer mirrors.

Over the past 270 years from the date of its production, killer mirror managed to take the lives of 38 people. It is not known for certain how killer mirror doing his terrible deeds. There are only assumptions that a mirror somehow distorts the reflected rays, which leads to death from cerebral hemorrhage. After all, almost all the victims of the killer's mirror died from hemorrhage and subsequent stroke.

Victims killer mirrors.

One of the victims killer mirrors, became the banker Kirakos, who in 1769 went in a carriage to celebrate his sister's birthday. And apparently he was carrying a mirror for her as a gift, since it lay in the carriage, surrounded by two angels. However, the banker did not make it to the celebration of his sister's angel day.

Later, a few days later, his carriage and horses were found in the forest, far from the trail. But the banker himself disappeared, and was subsequently not found. Together with him, his coachman disappeared, no traces of which were found either.

Then the killer's mirror hits Laura Noel, getting her as a gift. However, the 23-year-old girl does not have time to show off in front of him, as killer mirror continues its scores with the world of the living , and a young girl dies of a stroke. The story of an antique killer mirror stopped by the police in 1910, placing a mysterious product, apparently cursed by the master, in a warehouse of material evidence.

However, this is not a completion in stories of an antique killer mirror... The professor of forensic science, interested in the history of the mysterious mirror, wished to examine it and take some photographs. But he fails to do it, it turns out back in 2006 mirror killer was taken from the warehouse of material evidence. And since then, the location antique killer mirror in a beautiful frame is lost. Who knows whose fate the mirror is deciding today and now ... ..

The very master of mirroring Louis Arpo, who was considered an excellent Parisian master, was suspected of communicating with spirits, and other mysticism. As the sources of those years describe, he entered occult societies, and willingly attended seances.

There is another story related to mystical properties. killer mirrors... History takes us to September 10, 1943, in one of the richest estates near Paris. Many guests were invited by the Marquis de Fornaroli, among whom were present the Nazis, whom he sympathized with. The guests had already begun to move slowly into the park, where the Marquis was going to arrange fireworks at midnight.

However, noticing the absence of his wife, he asks the butler if he has seen the marquis. To which he received the answer that Madame went up to the bedroom. Where the marquis went in search of his wife, but she was not in the bedroom. The alarmed Marquis tries to clarify the situation. And as it turns out, the marquise really went into the bedroom, and did not leave it.

SS Standartenfuehrer Wilhelm Fuchs, present among the guests, makes a phone call, and Gestapo officers arrive at the villa. Which set up an amazing course of events. The marquise really went into the bedroom, and most likely settled in front of the pier glass, this was indicated by the open lipstick and the open powder box.

What happened next can only be associated with mysticism, in front of the pier there was a pearl necklace that was on the marquise. And also one of the shoes that Madame wore that evening. The chair on which the Marquise was sitting in front of the mirror was overturned. On the wooden panels of the dressing table, around the mirror, traces clearly left by nails were noticed!

It was assumed that the marquise was very frightened by something, so she jumped to her feet. But where the marquis herself disappeared, the experts of those years did not find out. However, as it turned out later, it was not without antique killer mirror.

After a while, Fuchs and Hauptsturmführer Franz Schubach came to the Marquis Fornaroli. As Fuchs says, they came to pick up the mirror, along the way he explains to the Marquis what the matter is. It turns out that Mr. Shubakh is interested in everything mystical, and is part of a special team to collect antiquity artifacts.

And as the staff of this team managed to establish, the Marquis has in the pier glass the very one made by Louis Arpo! The Marquis bought this villa in 1935, it was empty due to the death of the previous owners. The wife of the Marquis did not want to change the situation in her. And apparently completely in vain, because most likely, killer mirror dragged her to another world.

However, not all stories told about killer mirrors may be mystic. It should be remembered that earlier, when making mirrors, glass was covered not with silver, as in our time, but with amalgam, which contained 30 percent mercury.

And inhalation of mercury vapors, even in negligible small quantities, leads to poisoning, which of course does not explain the loss of people. However, antique outlandish things, within 5-10 years, may well lead to the death of their admirer.

Several years ago in France, antiques dealers made a rather strange request to the citizens and the press. They strongly discouraged collectors from purchasing an antique crooked mirror with an inscription on the frame: "Louis Arpo, 1743".

DEADLY OPTICS?

The reason for the prejudice was the unexpected loss of this antique. The fact is that the mirror of Louis Arpo was ... in prison for almost a century. Or rather, it was stored in the warehouse of the Paris police department, since the death of 38 people was associated with it. In 1997, a forensic professor asked permission to take a mirror for demonstration at lectures, but it turned out that it was not in the warehouse ... And antiquaries suggested that they would try to sell the mirror. People who died at different times were the owners of the mirror, and the ascertained cause of their death was an unexpected cerebral hemorrhage.

The most scientific is the assumption about the special optics of the Arpo mirror, which makes the rays of light reflect in such a way that they most negatively affect the person looking into it. But no documentary evidence of this "evil trick" was found. Then, perhaps, some rare poison killed the owners of antiques? Even the great physician and scientist of the Middle Ages, Paracelsus, was sure that all mirrors are capable of attracting and depositing poisonous fumes on their own surface. The mystics of the era also believed that the reflected image can separate from the original and come into contact with dark forces, and even supposedly there are special magic mirrors that can draw in the souls of the dead.

SCARY POISON?

According to an old legend, of the two beauties, did the one who looked in the mirror more often get old faster? But what was the reason? Where did the terrible poison come from on the surface of the mirror? According to medieval mystics, anywhere. For example, the Italian philosopher Tommaso Campanella described the properties of "magic glass" very gloomily. "Old women," he thought, "looking in the mirror, they find that it has grown dim, for the drops of moisture from their heavy breathing stick to the cold and clear glass and condense." Isn't that what killed almost 4 dozen people? Unlikely. After all, if you are afraid of toxic fumes, then the mirror can simply be washed more often.

AMALGAM?

On the other hand, amalgam, an alloy of mercury with another metal, was used for a long time in the manufacture of mirrors, and only from the middle of the 19th century it was replaced by silver, which is deposited from the solution onto the back surface of the glass. Mercury is known to be poisonous, so to a certain extent it is fair to call an antique mirror an unsafe item. But amalgam, releasing harmful substances, itself deteriorates, and, accordingly, the mirror loses its "clarity", which reduces its value and makes, in the end, an object useless.

DARK REFLECTION?

Everyone knows that in a state of stress, all human feelings are exacerbated, and regardless of what the stress is caused by: illness, excitement, fear. And, of course, at such a moment, the ability, one way or another, to influence others, as well as objects, is enhanced. In addition, scientists have long come to the conclusion that all materials and, therefore, things made from them have the property of storing information. Agreeing with the first two assumptions, one can easily imagine that the fluids directed at the mirror, depending on the state of the person looking into it, can be positive, negative, pathogenic, and, possibly, even murderous. The same, respectively, applies to the surface of the magic glass itself.

MEMORY OF THE FIRE

In the middle of the 19th century, a group of French scientists formulated a hypothesis that the surge of energy accumulated by the mirror can influence not only well-being and dreams, but even human actions. This effect is especially strong on people who are distinguished by increased emotional sensitivity or who suffer from mental instability. And what happened, in particular, the following: the happy newlyweds bought a beautiful antique mirror at an auction for a small amount and hung it in the bedroom. It fits perfectly into the interior of the room. But not even a week had passed when the couple complained to the family doctor that every night they were tormented by nightmares, which are absolutely the same for husband and wife. On their honeymoon, young people dreamed that a fire was raging in the house and they were absolutely helpless. They call for help and are unable to escape from the flame. The doctor, an educated man, but a mystic by nature, for some reason immediately saw the reason in the recently acquired mirror. It turned out that the mirror, bought by the young spouses from a lonely elderly woman, was inherited by her from relatives who had suddenly died. Once it belonged to a wealthy family and, by chance, was the only witness to a terrible night fire, when none of 10 people in a huge house could escape. (By the way, how miraculously survived, without even cracking, the glass is also a mystery.) As soon as the mirror was taken out of the bedroom of the newlyweds, nightmares ceased to torment them.

VISION CAMERAS

The mysteries of the mirror at different times were studied and tried to be solved in England, America, and Russia by such practitioners as the scientist Raymond Moody, who was the first to start a systematic study of postmortem conditions, and the Russian psychotherapist Vetvin. These scientists equipped specific "vision cameras" - mirrored rooms that resembled the psychomanteums of ancient Greek oracles (they came there to get advice from the spirit of the deceased). They set up experiments, during which volunteers tried to meet in the depths of the magic glass with the souls of their dear dead. The stories about these experiments, however, are not always convincing, but some of them are simply amazing. It is no coincidence that so many signs, fortune-telling and mysterious stories are associated with mirrors. This is the traditional Epiphany recognition in the reflected image of the future groom, and the terrible misfortunes that a broken "magic glass" promises, and midnight visions of the past and future that come from the Dark Through the Looking Glass.

If an unusual incident happened to you, you saw a strange creature or an incomprehensible phenomenon, you had an unusual dream, you saw a UFO in the sky or became a victim of an alien abduction, you can send us your story and it will be published on our website ===> .

At the end of 1997, an advertisement appeared in many Parisian newspapers with the following content:

“Antiques dealers are turning to antiquity lovers with a warning not to buy something that has recently disappeared from a police warehouse. mirror with a lettering on the frame: "Louis Arpo, 1743"... Over the long history of its existence, passing from one owner to another, this rarity has caused the death of at least 38 people. "

The reason for publishing the announcement, which would have been appropriate in medieval Europe, but not at the end of the 20th century, was explained by Emile Freinet, president of the Paris Association of Antique Dealers:

“The mirror has been kept in a warehouse by the police since it caused the death of several people. However, nowadays someone broke into the warehouse and stole a number of things, including the aforementioned mirror. We think the thief will try to sell him. Therefore, we try to disseminate information about this mirror as widely as possible so that potential buyers are careful and immediately contact the authorities. "

MIRROR MASTER

Very little reliable information has survived to this day about the mirror works of the master Louis Arpo. It is only known that he was an alchemist and a black magician.

He was saved from the fire of the Inquisition only by a close relationship with the almighty Marquise de Pompadour - the favorite of King Louis XV, who actually ruled the king and all of France. What exactly and for what purpose the master put into one of his creations is still a mystery, but the fact that this creation has a deadly power leaves no doubt.

Most of the owners of the Louis Arpo mirror died of a stroke or, even more surprising, disappeared without a trace. The mirror itself differs little in appearance from most similar items of that era. The mirrored glass is enclosed in a massive baroque gilded mahogany frame.

At the top of the frame are two angels blowing into trumpets. In the lower part of it there is an engraved inscription: "Louis Arpo, 1743". Such items can often be found in antique shops in Europe. However, the history of this mirror puts it in a special place not only for antique lovers.

ONE VICTIM, TWO VICTIMS ...

Today, several victims of the killer mirror are reliably known. The first of them was a major Parisian banker of Armenian origin Kirakos Gandzaketsi, who acquired it at the exhibition. For several years the mirror did not give out its devilish essence in any way, until in 1769 Monsieur Gandzaketsi went to one of the outskirts of Paris for his sister's birthday.

As a gift, the banker decided to present the very mirror, which, apparently, did not like this decision very much. The birthday girl and guests never finished eating a relative that evening. The next day, the gendarmerie received a statement about the disappearance of the banker.

The search continued for several days, and finally in the forest, not far from his house, an empty carriage was found, in which he went to visit. The horses were harnessed, but neither the banker, nor his coachman, nor even their bodies were nearby. Further searches led nowhere.

The investigation was forced to abandon the version of the abduction associated with the robbers, since the expensive carriage, the suitcase with the banker's belongings, and even his wallet remained intact. The ill-fated mirror was also intact. The banker and his coachman disappeared without a trace.

Where the mirror of Louis Arpo was kept for almost a hundred years after the first "murder" is unknown. The following information about him appears only in 1853. A young woman named Laura Noel received it as a gift for her 23rd birthday.

Unfolding the gift, the girl looked in the mirror and, turning pale, collapsed dead in the presence of numerous guests. The cause of death, as it turned out later, was a cerebral hemorrhage. The mirror did not calm down on this and continued to kill until, in 1910, the gendarmerie hid it under lock and key in the police storage of material evidence.

THE MISSING MARQUIS

It would seem that this is where the story of the bloodthirsty mirror should have ended, but World War II intervened in its fate.

The mirror took its next victim on September 10, 1943. There were many guests that evening at the luxurious villa of the Marquis de Fornaroli. The Marquis, who willingly collaborated with the Nazi invaders and made a good fortune on this, gave a rich reception for senior officers of the Wehrmacht and SS.

An invited orchestra played Wagner, numerous livery footmen handed trays of drinks, and chefs in the kitchen conjured delicious desserts. The time was approaching midnight. Fireworks were scheduled for this time, so the guests gradually moved from the hall to the garden in anticipation of a spectacular spectacle.

The marquis, who noticed the absence of his wife, asked the butler where she was now. Having received the answer that the Marquise had gone up to her bedroom, de Fornaroli hurried there to hasten his wife. However, she was not in the bedroom. Two maids confirmed the butler's words that the marquise had just entered the bedroom and closed the door behind her.

Among those invited was SS Standartenfuehrer Wilhelm Fuchs, to whom the Marquis turned for help. The officer immediately made a phone call, and within minutes the Gestapo agents appeared at the villa. A thorough search of the villa and the surrounding area was unsuccessful. A search of the marquise's bedroom revealed that she was indeed inside the room, sitting in front of the mirror, tidying herself up. Cosmetics were spread out on the pier.

The chair she was sitting on was overturned, and a pearl necklace and one shoe lay on the floor. Scratches from nails were clearly visible on the polished surface of the pier glass, as if the marquise was desperately trying to hold on, while some force was pulling her back. The windows in the bedroom were tightly closed from the inside.

The investigation, which was led by Obergruppenfuehrer Rudolf Heine, did not manage to find traces of the missing lady, but the facts that the investigators discovered forced the Gestapo leadership to take this case more than seriously. It turned out that in 1935, a few months before the Marquis acquired this villa, the daughter of the former owners of the house disappeared without a trace in the same room. Her body was never found.

A month after the tragedy, a Gestapo car drove up to the Marquis's villa. Fuchs and Heine came out of it, accompanied by an unknown gloomy man in a black cloak. The unknown person introduced himself as Franz Schubach, SS Hauptsturmfuehrer and employee of the "Ahnenerbe" - the secret service of the Third Reich, including those engaged in the study of paranormal phenomena. As soon as he entered the bedroom of the Marquise, Mr. Shubakh saw a mirror on the dressing table and, having changed in his face, ordered to immediately close it with a thick cloth.

Half an hour later, a truck with soldiers drove up to the villa, who, on Shubakh's orders, packed the mirror in a wooden box and drove away in an unknown direction. To the discouraged marquis, Shubach said: "As sad as it is for me to say this to you, marquis, I am sure that you will never see your spouse again." He also said that the mirror, which was confiscated, is the infamous Arpo mirror, which is responsible for dozens of human victims.

KILLER ON Liberty

After the war, the mirror repeatedly reminded itself of itself, increasing the count of its victims, until in 1990 it was again “behind bars”. For several years it lay quietly in the police storage of evidence and did no harm to anyone. But in 1997, the warehouse was robbed. Many valuable things have gone missing, including the ill-fated mirror. This event prompted Parisian antique dealers, who were well acquainted with the history of the killer mirror, to issue a warning in print.

To this day, the killer is at large and his whereabouts are unknown. With the modern accessibility of movement and the absence of intra-European borders, it could well leave the borders of France. So none of the antiques lovers can feel safe as long as the Arpo mirror exists.
