How to make a glass tabletop. DIY table with glass top. What material attracts the consumer?

IN Lately Furniture made from glass is becoming increasingly popular. And this is no coincidence, because this material is environmentally friendly and natural, it allows you to add lightness, sophistication to the room and visually expand the space. Until recently, glass was used very rarely in furniture making, as many people associated it with fragility. However, modern technologies for its production provide excellent strength to the products, which makes it possible for interior items and furniture made of glass to withstand significant loads.

The first glass furniture products were small tables. Nowadays, glass is used to make shelves, coffee tables, serving tables and dining tables, bar counters, kitchen countertops, shelves, cabinets, equipment racks, etc. This was also made possible by combining glass with various materials: wood, plastic, metal. The only significant drawback of glass furniture is its cost. For the manufacture of quality product Sometimes it is necessary to perform complex high-tech operations. In addition, glass products are usually made in small quantities according to the designer’s sketches.

This also has a significant impact on the final cost. But if you are ready to become both a designer and a craftsman for your product, then its price will be quite acceptable. When choosing glass, you must remember that its thickness directly depends on functional purpose future product. Yes, for making the simplest shelf Glass with a thickness of 5 mm is quite suitable, and for a table - at least 8 mm. For reference: a sheet of glass 15 mm thick with dimensions 1x1 m can withstand a load of up to 100 kg.

Glass processing methods

Numerous types of processing of this material can significantly expand the scope of glass applications. First of all, it's cutting

The main key to the success of such an operation as cutting glass is the glazier's table, which should not have any deflections or bumps. Otherwise, the glass may simply burst or crack. Glass cutting can be done with a roller or diamond glass cutter, the main thing is that the tool used for
this one was not worn out.

The main sign of correct cutting is the characteristic hissing-crispy sound. The glass cutter in operation should not creak, squeak, or bounce on the glass. The cutting line must be drawn in one motion, without stopping or going back. If you run a glass cutter twice along the same line, the resulting edge will crumble and chip.

Glass cutter

After making the cut line, the glass is tapped with reverse side with a special hammer or the handle of the glass cutter itself, and then break it off with light pressure. To remove small fragments of glass remaining on the fault line, use the slots located on the handle of the glass cutter. After the element required in size is cut, its edges should be processed. This will give the edge a rounded and secure appearance. At home, this can be done with an emery block, periodically wetting the glass with water. The direction of movement of the block should go along the edge of the glass. In this case there will be no chips.

To drill holes in glass you will need a cylindrical glass crown with diamond coating, drills and plastic bottle with water. To avoid overheating of the glass during drilling, it is watered. If the glass is thick, drill it only halfway, then turn it over and drill through the part.

The surface of glass or mirror can be either glossy or matte. To frost glass, use a special paste (for example, “GlassMat”). By the way, by applying it through a stencil, you can get a design or ornament on the workpiece. Glass treated in this way has a lower surface roughness than glass treated mechanically, and a peculiar “silky” surface.

If necessary ordinary glass Can be covered with film for tinting car windows. This way you will get tinted glass, which will cost you much less than buying finished glass with factory spraying.

Shelves

Glass shelves perfect solution For small rooms. They help to rationally use the space of the room without visually reducing it. Also, glass shelves do not create shadow areas on the walls, so the room maintains a feeling of lightness and airiness. To make glass shelves you will need planed timber with a cross section of 20×80-100 mm and glass with a thickness of at least 5 mm

  1. Cut out rectangular blanks measuring 200x800 mm from glass. Their number depends on how many sections your shelf will have. Process the edges of the workpieces.
  2. Make cuts in each piece of timber with grooves of about 50mm. To do this, it is better to press the beams together and make cuts simultaneously in both workpieces. The shelves must be inserted into these grooves with light effort. If the grooves are too wide, then strips of adhesive tape can be attached to the glass. The edges of the beams can be decorated at your discretion or simply sawed off at an angle of 45 degrees.
  3. Carefully attach the beams to the wall, while controlling the location. Insert the shelves into the grooves. One or more shelves can be replaced with wood or made of laminated chipboard - and then heavier objects can be placed on them

Coffee table

Glass coffee tables as an interior element easily fit into any designer composition thanks to its non-standard features. For example, a glass tabletop can be given any shape, and the glass itself can be painted in almost any color.

Glass Coffee table IC usually does not exceed the height of the cabinet. Its legs are made of chrome-plated steel pipes or wood.

For the manufacture of coffee table with a glass tabletop you will need a chrome pipe with a diameter of 50 mm, fittings for pipes, glass with a thickness of at least 6 mm.

  1. Before you start for making a table, draw a sketch of it. To do this, pre-plan in which part of the apartment it will be placed and in what style should it be made?, to match interior of the room
  2. Cut from glass table top needed configurations. Process the edges of the workpiece
  3. Saw off the required number of blanks for supports (legs) from the pipe. Depending on the design their tables may be three or four.
  4. To the tabletop using special glue (it is better to use UV glue) when gluing the upper supports. Connect each support with using threadedstuds with thrust bushing cylindrical, installed in the upper part of each support.
  5. Insert cylindrical thrust bushings into the lower part of the supports. Screw the supports into the bushings flat or wheeled

You can make several coffee tables different heights and combine them. The originality of this design lies in the fact that all the contents of the lower shelf can be viewed without looking under the tabletop

Tiered coffee table

Cabinet for equipment

A glass cabinet for equipment does not clutter up the space and visually makes it more free, and a TV, DVD-meep or music
center look graceful on her. Despite the fact that there is a huge selection of cabinets in stores, their cost is quite significant. Additionally, it can be difficult to find the right size and design to match your decor and fixtures. You can solve these problems by making a glass cabinet with your own hands.

To make it, you will need a chrome pipe with a diameter of 50 mm, fittings for pipes, glass 10 mm thick for the top shelf and at least 5 mm for the lower ones.

  1. Cut glass shelves required size. Process the edges of the workpieces
  2. Cut the support parts from the pipe: four 150 mm long, four 550 mm long and four 50 mm long. Dimensions are approximate and can be changed to suit your project.
  3. Attach the top shelf to the supports using glue, as described earlier.
  4. Assemble the cabinet upside down. To do this, place the top shelf of the cabinet with the top supports glued on flat surface. IN threaded holes Screw in the threaded rods of the upper supports. Fasten the 150 mm long support parts to the studs.
  5. Secure the middle and bottom ones using break knots. To do this, drill holes with a diameter of 10 mm in the corners of the shelves.
    Insert cylindrical thrust bushings into the lower part of the supports. Screw the flat supports into the bushings as described in
  6. her. Hold the cabinet by its supports and carefully turn it over.

Glass furniture in interior design, thanks to the play of sunlight, can enliven any environment and create a feeling of weightlessness, airiness, extraordinary comfort and coziness. Cabinets, tables and coffee tables, cabinets and other objects made entirely of glass or combined with glass elements do not clutter up the space at all, but, on the contrary, visually expand it, which plays a significant role in the arrangement small premises. Thanks to the transparency and clarity of designs, glass can be called a real find, allowing designers to bring to life many different ideas and solutions.

If you're pretty bored old design interior, you should pay attention to glass tables, which make it possible to successfully update the interior of any room. Wherein home handyman You don’t have to buy such a table, but you can make it yourself. Self-production of such furniture is, of course, not an easy task, but it will still be cheaper than buying a ready-made glass table. Let's talk today about how to make a glass table at home.

Features of glass tables

Mostly glass tables with a monolithic top are popular today. However, there are often so-called transforming tables that provide the opportunity to increase the length of the tabletop. The most important difference between glass tables is appearance countertops. It can have a variety of sizes and shapes: square, round, rectangular and oval.

Tables are made of tinted, frosted or transparent glass. Frosted glass is often greenish color due to the fact that it is a natural shade of this material. In the interior, the transparent design of the glass table looks weightless. This property of the material makes a glass table indispensable if it is necessary to visually lighten the space. An opaque table of the same size and any design will always look more bulky and massive.

A colored glass tabletop will definitely attract a lot of attention. It is also necessary to say that the color of the glass structure can emphasize the style. For example, a black glass table for the kitchen makes it possible to create a “glamorous” or “Gothic” interior. You will get a good contrast if the tabletop dining table black color complemented with white chairs.

The base and legs for glass tables are most often chrome-plated or wooden, less often - wicker, plastic or forged. Glass table in some cases it is framed, then the frame is made of the same material as the base itself. There are also tables with a shelf under the main tabletop, but they, however, also have their own characteristics.

Before purchasing, ask the seller for permission to sit at this table, so you can check whether it is comfortable for you to sit at it and whether your knees rest on the table. Any rubbish should not accumulate in the table shelf, that is, the space should be perfect order. Otherwise, there is no point in buying a glass table. But when receiving guests, you can put sweets or fruits on the shelf.

Advantages and disadvantages of glass tables

Glass tables have a lot of advantages, here are the main ones:

  1. Stylish appearance. Glass tables in the interior of any room look amazing and make the most pleasant impression. Transparency, flicker, shine and reflection make glass furniture inimitable. Glass tables look especially harmonious in interiors designed in high-tech style.
  2. Practicality. Modern technologies allow the production of glass tables with the expectation that it will be practical, reliable, safe and extremely stable. In addition, such glass furniture cannot be broken into pieces, because the glass used to make the tabletop contains special films that hold the fragments and avoid injury.
  3. High durability. Tempered glass doesn't care high temperatures and humidity. Glass countertops are absolutely not exposed to aggressive chemical substances. They are hygienic and easy to care for, do not absorb fatty or coloring substances, which is a significant advantage over ordinary kitchen tables.

However, some owners did not like glass tables because large quantity stains and marks on them. Dirt and crumbs are clearly visible on glass tables, and the surface of the tabletops gets scratched quickly. When paired with dishes, a glass table creates a lot of noise. However, these problems are easily resolved, and these shortcomings are not a reason to refuse to buy a stylish glass table.

The problem with permanent fingerprints on the glass can be solved by choosing a table made of frosted glass in the tint you need. To prevent soap stains from remaining on the glass surface, it is enough to buy a special glass care liquid. The noise problem can be eliminated by using coasters.

However, we should remember one more significant drawback - the high price of a glass table. Glass tables are very stylish furniture: they combine effectively with chrome surfaces, forged metal and varnished wood. Therefore, their cost is much higher than the price of ordinary kitchen tables.

Making a glass table with your own hands

Let's look at the technology for making a glass table at home.

1. Preparatory work

At the very beginning of the process of making a glass table, you need to determine where your future table will stand, whether it will serve as a coffee table in the living room, or be used in the kitchen for eating. After you have decided on its purpose, you need to draw a sketch of it in accordance with the interior of the room. Be sure to indicate on the drawing the location of the legs and the size of the tabletop.

To work, you will need the following tools: a roller or diamond glass cutter, a long metal ruler, a rubber mallet and pliers with rubber pads to break glass. You should also take care of the glass itself. It can be colored, tinted, transparent, textured and mirrored. When choosing a canvas, it is best to use tempered material; the thickness of the glass for the table should be 6 - 12 millimeters.

The glass must be clean, dry and at room temperature. To clean it from dust, you can use a baking soda solution and a rag. This is very important, because when working with dirty material, a split may occur not along the cut line, and the glass cutter itself will fail faster. Glass prepared for cutting must be placed on a glass cutting table, chipboard or a thick sheet of plywood. The entire surface of the material should fit tightly to the table.

You need to place a thin rod under the line where you will make the cut. The diameter of the rod should reach approximately 3 millimeters. Next, place a ruler on the glass so that it is located approximately 2-3 millimeters from the line of the intended cut. It must be remembered that the glass cutter must be pressed with a force of 2 kilograms; this can be checked in advance using ordinary scales.

2. Glass cutting technology

It is better to cut glass using a ruler; it is preferable to use a thin metal one. Qualified craftsmen are able to cut glass “by eye”; at the same time, they measure the required length with a tape measure, move the glass to the edge of the table, orient themselves along this edge of the table and pass it with a glass cutter. You can also mark the cutting line with a felt-tip pen, and then use a glass cutter to draw it along the glass without a ruler.

It would be great if you practice a little on scraps before using the workpiece. This work is not that difficult, but training will add confidence to you and increase your chance of cutting glass well the first time. Soak in vegetable oil glass cutter wheel before starting to cut from the far side of the glass. You should try to draw the cutting line with a glass cutter at one time.

If cutting is done with a diamond glass cutter, an almost imperceptible colorless mark remains on the glass. The force of pressing depends directly on the sharpness of the edge. Glass can be broken by hand, but it is better to do this with special protective gloves. The glass should be positioned so that the edge homemade table for cutting glass, the cutting line coincided. Press the glass sharply and it should break in a straight line.

Remains or very narrow edges are broken off with a glass cutter, grabbing it with a special slot that is present on the glass cutter, or with pliers, on which rubber pads must be put on in advance. In addition, you can place paper folded in several layers under the jaws of the pliers. If the glass is poorly cut, then to increase the depth of the cut, you need to tap it with a glass cutter hammer from the back side, or with another tool - for example, an open-end wrench.

When working with a roller glass cutter, you need to apply more pressure. The cutting begins from the far edge of the blade. If the cut does not come out with a sharp glass cutter, then you need to move the roller back and forth along one line, first dipping it in kerosene. If the cut does not work out on the first attempt, then it is necessary to repeat the manipulation on the reverse side.

In cases where it is necessary to cut glass with complex outlines or a curved shape, a stencil is first made. After this, place the stencil on the glass and carefully trace it with a glass cutter. A circular cut of glass is made in a similar way: first, a cut is made in a circle using a template or another method, and then, in the part in which the glass will break off, rays are made and broken off in parts.

When it is necessary to cut reinforced glass, first you need to smooth side Use a roller glass cutter to draw a cut line on the sheet. After this, using a hard, sharp tool, scratch the groove along the cut line all the way to the mesh. Next, the glass is turned over and then broken. The wire is then carefully bitten off or cut.

3. Processing the edges of the tabletop

After you have successfully cut glass for a table, there are usually nicks and protrusions left on it that must be removed to protect against cuts or injury. It is best to process the edges of the glass on special machines, but this can also be done at home, be sure to wear cotton gloves.

To do this, take an old file or emery block. If you will use a file, you should prepare a small container with turpentine or kerosene to wet the tool. Next, file along the edge of the glass. You should work very carefully, especially if you are processing thin glass. To create smooth edges, you need to move the file or beam evenly along the glass.

After this, it is necessary to grind and polish the edges of the tabletop. For this action you will need a grinder or drill. Glass is polished at low speed - about 1200-1700 rpm, slowly, as it is afraid of overheating. First, coarser sandpaper is placed on the grinding wheel and the edge of the profile you need is formed.

Next, you should put a medium-grain disc and repeat the previous operation, while it is useful to moisten the glass with a thin stream of water. The edges are then processed with a fine-grained disc. Final stage processing table edges - edge polishing. This is done using a special paste and a soft felt circle. Polishing is done with the same drill or grinder.

4. Attaching the legs to the table

Now you need to think about how to secure the glass to the table. To install the table legs, you need to make a hole in each created leg on top of the end part. Suction cups are attached to these holes using special strong glue for these purposes. Next, after the glue has dried, you need to mark on the tabletop with a felt-tip pen and ruler the places where the legs will be installed. It is recommended to degrease such areas with gasoline or acetone.

The glue used to attach mirrors is visible through the transparent glass surface and takes quite a long time to dry - which is unacceptable if during manufacturing glass glass there is no additional fastener. It follows from this that it is necessary to use special, highest quality types of glue in the process of making a glass table.

Russian manufacturers They produce pretty decent glue in two varieties: “glass-to-glass” and “glass-to-metal”. Just like other types of special compounds, this glue also has its own characteristics - it dries, polymerizing into ultraviolet rays, length 300-400 nm. The time it takes for the adhesive to completely “dry” depends on the power of the lamp used. The initial gluing takes approximately thirty seconds.

Glue the legs to the glass tabletop one at a time and wait until they set. And only then irradiate until the adhesive composition is completely polymerized. Please note that tearing off the leg and redoing it will not work, so mark the attachment points carefully. Carefully measure the amount of glue; of course, you can remove excess glue with a sharp knife, but this work will not be enjoyable. So you have made a glass table with your own hands!

A glass table needs careful care. The table should be wiped with artificial suede or a soft microfiber cloth: these materials leave the least amount of streaks. You can also use by special means for washing mirrors and glass sold in stores household chemicals. But still, if you have children in the house, we strongly recommend reducing the cleaning time using “chemicals”, since sooner or later you will put food on the table on which particles of the products used may remain.

Sometimes, due to the tricks of our kids or due to carelessness, scratches appear on the glass, spoiling the appearance of the product, but we want everything to be perfect. There is a simple solution for this case - grinding with GOI paste. This paste must be crushed into very fine crumbs so that the mass is homogeneous.

Next, you need to take a regular cotton swab and dip it into the paste on all sides so that the cotton swab is completely covered with a layer of crushed substance. And after that, start polishing the scratch with the paste, without pressing too hard on the stick. The time period of one approach is 10-15 seconds, after which it is necessary to remove the paste from the glass, apply a new portion of crushed paste to a cotton swab and repeat this process again.

How many passes you need to make depends on your patience, the scratches themselves, and the type of glass the table is made of. But if the work is completed, your reward will be a glass surface that will be absolutely scratch-free. Also, in addition to GOI paste, there are many other polishing substances - “Polarit” and final polishes, which contain diamond particles. Many owners choose toothpaste for polishing.

In addition, you can use next option. It does not consist of eliminating scratches, but of hiding them. To do this, it is customary to use regular colorless nail polish. It must be carefully applied to the scratch, without going beyond its edges, and allowed to dry thoroughly. If the scratch is quite deep, then the procedure must be repeated more than once.

Remember that each layer should be allowed to dry fairly well before applying a new layer. And to avoid scratches, stains and chips, it is recommended to place special napkins on the table, of which there are a great variety on sale today.

Thus, a glass table will look better in the kitchen than, for example, a wooden one. You can buy a table made of plastic, but still a glass one will be much more beautiful and elegant. Also, a glass table would be appropriate in the living room near the sofa. What is there! It can become the central element in your interior, especially if you made it yourself.

Designers in the modern world resemble naughty children who got their hands on a 3D multifunctional construction set with a guidance system - if such a thing exists. With the help of designers, earthlings unexpectedly found out that they live in a boring, gray environment and do not notice bright opportunities provided by the achievements of progress. Some of their projects cause trembling and shock, while others cause nervous laughter. For example, we would make a glass table with our own hands without the participation of these figures at all - simply out of a sense of self-preservation.

Today we will look at the nuances self-made glass tables

Now there are two ways to reliably assemble glass structures of any complexity, but neither of them involves the presence of sick experimenters. Glass is a dangerous material in itself, so you shouldn’t turn a craftsman’s everyday life into a horror movie.

Frame method for assembling a glass table

In general, in principle, if you decide to cut out the parts of a glass table yourself, at home, only the frame method will suit you. There is no point in even taking on the implementation of a designer or personal idea about open glass - it will turn out obscene. The frame method is simple by definition:

Cut into furniture panel hole the right size and shape, and then secure the raw glass in it with a glazing bead. It’s not very beautiful, and it won’t be possible to install glass of normal thickness, but you can attach the tabletop like an ordinary chipboard part.

Modern mechanical fasteners are diverse and give scope for creative imagination, however, it itself is not always pleasing to the eye.

Mechanical fastener for glass

Manufacturing a glass table using mechanical fasteners allows you to endlessly vary and even modify the assembled structures. The main difference from the second method is the facet. Here it is needed.

Making a glass table in high-tech style

The high-tech style, in which the most popular models of glass structures are made, implies a metal-glass combination, and without the use of clamps protruding above the tabletop. Accessories can be purchased at construction or specialized stores.

Table assembled using special glue

It includes a variety of supports, legs, combinations of couplings and headrests that provide a decent look to any structure - But! This requires special glue.

Adhesive for glass structures

When we were researching the question “How to make a glass table with your own hands,” we stumbled upon a small problem. The glue used to attach the mirrors is visible through the transparent glass surface and takes too long to dry - which is unacceptable in the absence of additional fasteners.

However, special types of glue helped resolve this issue. Russian manufacturers have adopted the experience of their Polish and German colleagues, and now produce quite decent glue of two types: “glass-to-metal” and “glass-to-glass”. Like other types of special compounds, this one also has its own peculiarity - it polymerizes in ultraviolet rays with a length of 300-400 nm.

An ordinary UV lamp for warming up the ear/throat/nose is not suitable here - you need to find out the characteristics from the sellers of the equipment. In our region we found a suitable device in hardware store for only 26 dollars. The time required for the final “drying” of the glue depends on the power of the lamp - the initial gluing took us about thirty seconds.

Glass table detailing

We were extremely pleased with the quality of the glue - the connection is stronger than the material itself, that is, when you try to tear off the part, you will not break the gluing, but will break off a piece of glass.

If you decide to make a glass table with your own hands, take tempered glass 10-12 millimeters thick, and then you will need a bulldozer to dismantle the product. With the second assembly method, we decided to completely abandon additional fasteners and make desk in the reception area, for which it is not a shame to seat an attractive secretary.

We will describe the detailing and assembly process of this table.

The entire structure is tightly glued - only the monitor stand is movable. The detailing is amazingly simple:

  • 1600x700 mm – tabletop.
  • 450x350 mm – top of the monitor stand.
  • 350x80 mm – 2 pcs. Sidewalls of the monitor stand.
  • 750x500 mm – 4 pcs. Table sides.
  • 400x500 mm – 5 pcs. Shelves.

Glass thickness – 14 mm, total weight table - about one and a half hundred kilograms, so there is no need to be afraid of thieves. Prestige – 11 points on a ten-point scale (the third secretary is going on maternity leave).

Attention! The ends of the joining parts must be perfectly smooth and without bevel - otherwise the structure will come out crooked and unbalanced.

Other elements of the table should not have any sharp corners or cutting edges in principle - unless you want to open a branch of a blood collection point.

Table assembly process

In this case, no tools are needed for assembly - except for a tape measure and a marker. All lines are marked on the outside of the joint - the surfaces to be glued must be perfectly clean and degreased.

It is impossible to assemble the cabinets alone - you need an assistant who will irradiate the gluing area with a UV lamp while you hold the parts in the desired position. We recommend wearing sunglasses - your eyes are not designed for such stress, although the process will not cause them any particular harm.

Glue the shelves to the sidewalls one at a time until they set, and then irradiate them until the glue is completely polymerized. Please note that you will not be able to tear it off and redo it, so mark it carefully. Also pay attention to the coincidence of the edges of the structure. The glue is applied to the end of the part, and not to the plane: The excess can be removed with a sharp knife, but this work will not bring pleasure.

There are many answers to the question: “How to make a glass table.” But before you ask this question, identify a few absolute truths for yourself:

  • Glass does not tolerate neglect. The “And so it will do” option is good for misanthropes who have written a will in favor of world peace (if there are any). Never use thin glass, especially in areas where children are present. The cubs manage to crack shop windows - what do they need some kind of table?!
  • You can see through it. Do not put it glass table in the living room, if your friends have crooked legs, everyone present will lose their appetite.
  • It's hard to see through it. This piece of furniture requires constant care. Fingerprints, dust, boogers or gum stuck to the countertop will become public knowledge. If you do not intend to create an art object in this way, come to terms with the need for constant cleaning.

Good luck to you.

You will need

  • - paper, pencil and felt-tip pen;
  • - a sheet of glass of the required size;
  • - glass cutter;
  • - piece welding wire and a piece of ordinary;
  • - ruler;
  • - refined vegetable oil;
  • - grinding block;
  • - glue for joining glass and wood;
  • - wooden legs for the table;
  • - acetone;
  • - suction cups for attaching the legs.

Instructions

Draw a sketch of the future table. To do this, pre-plan in which part of the apartment it will be placed, for what purpose it will be used (coffee table or dining table), in what style it should be made to match the interior of the room.

Make a drawing of the product. Draw the tabletop: indicate the width, length and thickness of the planned part, indicate the location of the table legs.

Execute necessary preparations. If you are performing such work for the first time, first adjust the level of pressure: press the glass cutter on the scale so that it shows a weight of 2 kg - use this pressure to cut the glass in the future. Place the glass on thick fabric. Place a thin rod or piece of welding wire with a diameter of 2-3 mm under the expected glass fracture line. Place a ruler on the glass so that the cut line is 2-3 mm from the edge of the ruler.

Soak the cutting wheel in vegetable oil. Start cutting from the far edge of the canvas, move the glass cutter towards yourself once with even pressure, and immediately break off the excess part of the glass. If this is not done, the crystalline structure of the glass may be restored again after it was damaged by the glass cutter, and the edge will not be smooth. Once the tabletop is cut, sand the edges using a silicon sanding block.

For each leg, do the following: drill a hole and secure the suction cup in it with glue. Wait for the glue to dry, then degrease the areas where the table legs will be attached with acetone. Mark the places where the legs will be attached on the table surface using a felt-tip pen. Carefully secure the legs using suction cups.

note

When starting to process the edge of the glass, be sure to wear cotton gloves. This will protect your hands from glass chips and cuts.

Helpful advice

To make the table original, cut several holes along one of the edges various diameters. First drill a hole of small diameter, fasten one end of the wire in it, fasten a glass cutter to the other end, and cut a circle. Then, using a ruler, draw several radii from the hole to the circle line. Take the glass and lightly hit the back of the cut area with the handle of a hammer, the excess parts will fall out. Finish the edges of the hole.

They come in different shapes; it is important that they not only be stable and reliable during operation, but also emphasize the interior of the entire furniture ensemble.

Sometimes the beauty of the supports influences the choice of product and attracts with its spectacular parameters, regardless of the price.

Legs for a glass table with your own hands can be borrowed from design proposals and made in a variety of shapes.

The stability of the structure as the main value can be achieved by installing the tabletop on one support or on several, taking into account its dimensions and configuration.

The cover can be:

  • round
  • oval
  • rectangular
  • square

Different background:

  • tinted
  • transparent
  • matte

With legs:

  • wooden
  • metal
  • plastic

Based on the main characteristic parameters, you can decide on the choice of a product suitable for the interior.

The shape of the furniture surface causes spatial perception, for example, oval table placed by the window in a small room. IN large room the best option It will be round, you can place guests around on chairs. Square models along with rectangular ones are suitable for any apartment, as long as the size of the product is chosen correctly.

The background influences and depends on the general color scheme interior Transparent glass it is impossible to break the dissonance of tonality in the walls, regardless of their color.

The Gothic style is able to emphasize the black tint, the massiveness of the matte lid will allow the inhabitants to feel reliability, if at the same time there is a main stable part - its supporting element.

The main structural elements for the table are its legs with a design solution:

  • use high-tech, framing with metal, chrome, aluminum
  • apply the classics, arranging support for the coating using wooden parts
  • direct artistic taste towards Provence with artistic forging

Decorators use different techniques, and how surprising the design will be depends on these decisions:

  • will attract the eye with the massiveness of the constructed support in the form of intricate intertwining roots
  • will add airiness with an unusual design element
  • will protect the framing base from destruction

When the interior requires expanding the functionality of the furniture, you need to use it not only for viewing magazines, but also for festive feasts, then an additional sliding mechanism is installed.

Craftsmen advise using durable metal fittings; they are designed for long-term use, unlike plastic ones, which cannot withstand repeated transformations.

What material attracts the consumer?

Metal legs for a glass table can be chrome-plated or forged. Plating steel with chrome with the addition powder paint will highlight the style of the room. Sustainability carries out steel pipe with a metal core, such a design can be installed for any purpose of the product. These supports produce furniture with strength characteristics that allow it not to clutter up the usable space.

The forged frame weighs a lot, which prevents such tables from moving freely, but they are easy to care for and last a long time.

Despite the massiveness of these models, their artistic manufacturing options are inexhaustible, presenting the legs as:

  • curved seaweed
  • trees
