Bath bombs: 4 shells of joy, easy to make at home

Explosion, storm, madness! These three words perfectly describe bath bombs, which can turn ordinary water procedures into a real holiday. I want to go further and not just limit myself to flattering epithets in the direction of such a “terrible” weapon of mass destruction of water masses in your font, but offer you several simple recipes for making it at home.

And yet what are we talking about?

But first, I think it is necessary to expand on the topic of bath bombs in a little more detail for those who have not yet encountered them at all. Most often they are colored balls (although they may have other shapes, this is not important) and are launched into the collected font. The effect of this can be observed as follows:

The action of the “shell of joy”

  1. When an object comes into contact with liquid begins to boil, forming a real geyser;

  1. Then in all directions bubbles and whole streams diverge different colors , the shades of which depend on the type of sample used;

  1. They rush into the air pleasant aromas, filling in ;
  2. The water takes on a fantastic look, and healing properties begin to affect the body of a person lying in the font. essential oils.

Application

Here I also want to expand a little more on the topic of how bath bombs can be useful for you:

  1. Direct use. That is, as I described above: fill the tank warm water, throw the shell there and enjoy all the further special effects;

  1. Present. Remember that situation when you need to make something inexpensive, but original gift to someone, but your head refuses to invent anything suitable? So, bath bombs will be an excellent and unusual gift present in any situation.

If you are planning to use a homemade bomb as a gift, then I recommend not limiting yourself to a spherical shape, but giving it some more interesting shapes. So, for example, on “Valentine’s Day” it could be a heart, on “March Eighth” it could be a rosebud, and a child can be pleased with a figurine of an animal. This will make it even more pleasant for the person.

Let's start cooking

Making bath bombs at home requires having the following tools on hand:

Name Comments
Kitchen scales Many ingredients require precise proportions; it is not advisable to add them “by eye”
Clean dry container A large bowl, preferably glass, is quite suitable, and it is needed to mix all the constituent elements
Latex gloves No need with bare hands touch everything you will be working with, as this may lead to negative consequences for your skin
Face protection Goggles and a gauze bandage are quite suitable to prevent reactive dust from getting into the eyes or respiratory tract
Sieve Will be needed to sift the mixture being prepared.
Matching molds It depends on what you want to get as a result, but most often these are special purchased plastic containers, cut tennis balls or “eggs” from Kinder Surprise children’s toys.

As you can see, it is not necessary to purchase any special tools to implement your plans with your own hands. Most likely you are all you can find in your own home.

Joy Projectile #1: “Simple Torpedo”

I started with the most basic recipe, for which I needed the following ingredients:

The process itself looked like this:

  1. Properly equipped, in prepared containers began to mix the amount of citric acid and soda indicated in the table until you get a homogeneous substance. In progress of this paragraph I also added the chosen dye and sea salt;

  1. Further poured into essential and olive oils, and added dry cream and chopped herbs;
  2. He started mixing the substance again, achieving a homogeneous mushy state. Ready mix should mold well, if it continues to be crumbly and does not want to form a lump in your hand, then add a little water to it. Just do this very carefully so as not to provoke the onset of a chemical reaction;

If the hissing still begins after adding liquid, add a little citric acid and soda. The substance in the bowl is then stabilized.

  1. Scooping up a handful of sticky mass, made a ball out of it, like a snowball made of snow;

  1. Impromptu snowball fight put it in the mold, which was then closed;

  1. I left the mixture closed into a sphere to harden for 20 minutes., after which he took out the ready-made bomb. Signs of a correctly performed procedure: the object leaves the mold easily, without sticking to the walls, and does not crumble in your hands.

Joy Shell No. 2: “Lavender Relaxation”

Those who especially like to soak in warm water will certainly appreciate the “warheads” made of lavender. Here I needed:

After I collected everything, I got down to business:

  1. The first step here is the same as in the previous recipe, that is, I carefully mixed soda with citric acid, turning them into a single substance;
  2. While working with a spoon also I also added some dry cream;
  3. After the mass has become homogeneous, very slowly poured wheat oil into it;
  4. Further also slowly I also added lavender oil;

  1. Added crushed plant particles and sea salt, continuing to stir the contents of the bowl;

  1. I took a spray bottle of water and slowly began to “refresh” the substance until it began to hiss at me;
  2. Grease the bath bomb molds from the inside sunflower oil, filled them with the prepared mixture, after which, just as children make Easter cakes from sand, he laid it out on a clean sheet of paper;

  1. After 6 hours, the “shells” are ready for use.

Lavender has a very relaxing effect on the body, so launching such a “torpedo” into the bath before bed is most pleasant.

Shell of joy No. 3: “The goal is romance”

If you want the degree of romance in the bathroom to go off scale, then the following recipe, which requires the following ingredients, will do the job perfectly:

My cooking process went like this:

  1. I took a piece of cocoa butter and melted it in a water bath. The source of heat in this case can be either a microwave oven or a regular battery;

  1. Cooled the substance a little, then slowly I started adding all the stored essential oils and the prepared dye to it while stirring with a spoon;
  2. Then immersed the remaining ingredients in the container, which include baking soda, citric acid and oatmeal powder;
  3. Next I'm already mixed the mixture with my hands until doughy and homogeneous;
  4. Divide the resulting dough into molds;
  5. And I placed the filled molds themselves in the freezer for half an hour;
  6. The hardened samples were taken out of the containers and wrapped in pieces of plastic film.

Projectile No. 4: “Tenderness for the skin”

Roses are always beautiful. And you can also create bath bombs from them. For this you will need:

And I started:

  1. First of all, I tackled the dry ingredients. To do this, I needed soda, citric acid and Epsom salts, which can be easily purchased at the pharmacy. I combined all these loose mixtures into a homogeneous mass without a single lump;

  1. Then added glycerin and continued stirring gently;

  1. Further followed by essential oils: almond and pink;
  2. By adding curry, I changed the color of the mixture to yellowish;
  3. Added water and mixed thoroughly, without reacting to the hissing and increase in the substance;
  4. I squeezed a lump of mass, checking it for readiness: if it doesn’t crumble, then everything is in order;
  5. Lined the inside of the mold with rose petals, after which he filled it with the prepared substance;
  6. Two days later I took out the finished “warhead”.

What the store can offer

I’m interested in making bath bombs myself, but not everyone has the time or desire for this. But almost everyone still wants to try this delight at least once in action.

And here, as always, there is an alternative in the form of a trip to specialized stores. You can buy extremely safe and fully equipped kits for the production of “shells” that even children can handle, as well as ready-to-use samples.

Example sentences

The price of ready-made bombs, of course, is much higher than manufactured ones. with my own hands, but still remains quite accessible:

  1. Aloe Vera Bomb:

  1. Bomb "Banana Paradise":

  1. Hot Chocolate Bomb:

  1. Bomb “Lemon freshness”:

  1. Bomb "Sea Breeze":

As you can see, purchased samples do not differ as much in shape, composition and price as homemade ones, although, of course, you can find more intricate examples if you wish. These include, for example, this heart self made"calendula", having the following description:

Conclusion

Bath bombs will make bathing more fun, enjoyable and healthy. And making them with your own hands is quite capable of delivering sincere emotional pleasure.

The video in this article will introduce you to additional information. Ask any questions you have on the topic in the comments.

A bath has long ceased to be just a means of cleansing the body. Now it's more of a pleasant ritual. However, this ritual is not always as useful as it is pleasant. The bath foam so beloved by many, fragrant and fluffy, is a “storehouse” of all kinds of parabens, phosphates, dyes, fragrances and other “benefits of civilization.”

How to make your own bath bombs

There are two ways to make bombs

The first method of preparation is to prepare bombs without using water. In this case, we take soda (2 parts), citric acid (1 part), and any natural filler(for example, 1 part milk powder), base oil (1 part) (this can be olive oil, walnut, sea buckthorn, almond), if desired, you can add essential oils at the rate of 10 drops per 1 bath. Grind the citric acid in any way (be careful - lemon dust irritates the respiratory tract!). Mix all the ingredients, place in any form and leave for one hour.

The 2nd method of preparation is to prepare bombs using water. For cooking we use all the same ingredients, in this case you can refuse to use oils or reduce the amount. Inject water into the mixed components from a spray bottle 1-3 times and mix immediately. Your mixture should be a little damp and sticky. If you overdo it with water, a reaction will begin in your bomb before it even gets into the bathroom. Ready mixture put it in the mold, after receiving the shape, take out the finished bomb and leave it to dry.

ADVICE: When making your own bath bombs, it is best to use silicone molds as molds. You should not use plastic or hard molds, as the mass will be difficult to remove from them.

When all the ingredients are combined, mix the mass thoroughly and quickly with your hands again. In principle, you can start sculpting, but there is one caveat. There are two ways to prepare bombs – dry and wet. I described the dry one above, but for the wet one, you need to add 2-3 sprays of cold water from a spray bottle to the described scheme before sculpting. But no matter which of the two methods we choose, the mass should remain quite crumbly, and when squeezed in a fist, it should stick together well.

We compact the finished composition tightly into the prepared molds and leave to dry for about 30 minutes. After this time, we remove the molds and leave our fragrant balls to ripen for another day in a dry, warm place. Then they can be packed in cling film and put in the refrigerator so that they do not become damp and react. By the way, these homemade bombs can be not only in the shape of a ball, but also in the shape of a heart, a flower, a leaf, a barrel, it all depends on what molds you have.

I know that some of those reading this article will say that whole sets of bath bombs are sold in stores for lovers of such cosmetic pleasures, and you can easily buy them instead of toiling around with all these mixtures. I agree, it’s possible, but the price of a set of, say, three aromatic fizzy drinks goes well beyond a thousand rubles, and the cost of homemade masterpieces made from soda, lemon juice and natural oils selected for yourself will be less than 5 times. And where is the guarantee that store-bought balls contain only natural ingredients and are completely suitable for your skin. Either homemade, cooked with soul, from simple natural products, for yourself, your favorite. Well, have I convinced you? Then let's go find out

how to make a bath bomb with your own hands - the most basic options

Here I will give different options for bombs for different types skin, building a set of ingredients on basic recipe, which we discussed above. I will simply mix different additional ingredients and explain when and for whom this recipe is best suited. So, let's go.

A simple recipe for oily skin

For one bomb, take 4 tbsp. l. Soda, 2 tbsp. l. Limonki, 1 tbsp. l sea or pink salt, 1 tbsp. castor oil and 5-7 drops of any citrus. In a deep bowl, mix soda, lemon and salt, mix them thoroughly, and then add castor oil and ether. To make the bomb brighter, you can add 1-3 drops of any food coloring, vegetable or herbal decoction. When all the components are mixed, put the mixture in a mold and wait for it to dry, and then enjoy the pleasant and healthy water procedure.

DIY bubbling bath bombs for dry skin

Dry skin needs to be moisturized and lubricated, so in this recipe we will take several oils and vitamins. As in the previous recipe, for the base you will need 4 tbsp. l. Baking soda and 2 tbsp. l. Citric acid. To them we will add grape seed oil, and an oil solution of antioxidant vitamins A and E. From the esters we will take chamomile and geranium oil. We need a total of 1-1.5 tbsp of fatty oils and vitamins. l, and esters 5-6 drops each.

We proceed according to the same familiar scheme, first mix soda and lemon, and then little by little mix in first the base oils and then the essential oils. When the mixture reaches the consistency of raw sand and sticks together, compact it into a mold and wait until it dries completely. For brightness, at the end of kneading, you can add food coloring of the desired color, or you can do without it. Dry skin will be very happy with such a seething mask.

Another option is to add bombs to the composition in addition to oils seaweed, which are easy to buy at the pharmacy. It is best to add them between the layers placed in the mold. For example, you created a mixture as described just above, divided it into 4 equal parts and proceed as follows. Place the first part of the mixture on the bottom of the mold, place one third of the tablespoon on it. l seaweed. Again a layer of the mixture and again a third of a tablespoon of seaweed. Again part of the bomb mixture and a layer of algae, and the last part of the mixture completes everything. Tamp all this art well and let it dry for about a day, after which you can use the bomb or beautifully package it and make an exclusive gift to one of your friends.

Homemade aromatic bombs to tone up or relieve fatigue

Depending on what esters and aromas we add to our bubbling balls, the bath can be made either relaxing, relieving fatigue and stress, or tonic, charging vigor and good mood. Here's one recipe for every occasion.

1. From fatigue

Let's take 4 tbsp. l. Soda, 2 tbsp. l. Lemons or the same amount of vitamin C ground into powder, 1 tbsp. l. Grapeseed oil, 1 tbsp. l. Powdered milk and 6 drops each of rosemary and lavender. In a deep container, first mix the bulk ingredients, that is, soda, lemon or ascorbic acid and milk powder and mix them well. Now, stirring continuously, add grape oil and drops of ethers to the mixture of granules. If the mixture seems a little dry to you, then add either another tablespoon of grape oil or sprinkle a little from a spray bottle.

If the mixture has the consistency wet sand and sticks together well when you squeeze it in your palm, put it in the mold. Then we leave our product to dry for a couple of hours, and after the specified period, carefully remove the bomb from the mold and dry it until ready on a sheet of paper. All,

The relaxing fizz is ready, it's time to take a bath.

2. To lift spirits and create vigor

In general, everything will be the same here, only instead of lavender and rosemary esters, we’ll take invigorating citrus fruits - lemon, lime, sweet orange, grapefruit, in a word, any aroma that you love. I suggest choosing sweet almond oil as a base oil, and let’s get started.

Mix 4 tbsp. l. Baking soda with 2 tbsp. l. Citric acid and mix them well. Next, add almond oil to the bulk mixture first, and then citrus ether or a mixture of citrus fruits. We take base oil in a volume of 1-2 tbsp. l, and aromas in the amount of 10-12 drops. Mix everything again, check for stickiness and, if everything is in order, put the future bomb in the mold, and a day later we are happy with the result.

DIY bath bombs for kids

To make your own baby bath bombs, you can use the simple recipes above, excluding the dye. It is better to add something natural there, for example, flower petals, sea or pink salt, leaves of medicinal plants, and so on. Better yet, prepare a surprise bomb with a small toy inside. Can you imagine how much delight the baby will have when the bath first starts bubbling? fragrant ball, and then a rubber fish or duck will swim out of this ball. And I’ll give you an example interesting recipe, which caught my eye on the Internet.

From the given amount of ingredients you should get 5-6 bombs; the author suggests making them in the shape of hearts. I have such a mold, if you don’t have it, then you can take any other one that will fit 100 g of the mixture being prepared. So, for this recipe we will need:

  • 15th century l. Baking soda;
  • 6 tbsp. l. Limonki;
  • 3 tbsp. l. Sea salt and white clay;
  • 2 tbsp. l. Jojoba oils;
  • 15 drops of lavender essential oil.

Sift the soda through a sieve into an enamel or glass container, then pour in lemon, sea salt and white clay, ground in a coffee grinder, one by one. Mix everything thoroughly, better with your hands, and gradually add jojoba oil. Mix everything again and see if our mixture begins to stick together. Add lavender ether and mix the mixture again until a homogeneous mass is obtained. If at this point our mixture still doesn’t stick together well, then sprinkle it with two or three sprays of water from a spray bottle.

If the mixture is ready, as indicated by the consistency of wet sand and high-quality adhesion into a ball when squeezed in a fist, put it in molds, pressing well over the entire surface. Now our bombs will dry out like this for about an hour. At the end of this time, turn them over with the molds up, carefully remove them and leave them on a towel or sheet of paper for another day. For better drying, they can be placed near a radiator or room heater. When our hearts are dry, wrap them in cling film and put them in the refrigerator or other cool and dry place. Agree, it turned out beautifully, the baby will be delighted, and the adult will probably also be happy with such a gift.

Olive oil and 10 drops of citrus ether, the zest of which was added and bring the mixture to condition, that is, to the state of wet sand. We compact the resulting mass into a mold and send it to dry for a day.

And when the specified time is over, we either pack the ball in cling film or take a healing bath.

DIY bath bombs with clay and starch

Here is a recipe for oily and combination skin that will help get rid of acne and other unpleasant manifestations. Take 4 tbsp. l. Soda, 2 tbsp. l. Lemons or ascorbic acid ground into powder, 1 tbsp. l. Starch and 1 tbsp. l. Any cosmetic clay. After mixing the indicated products, add 1 tbsp. l. a spoonful of jojoba oil, 1 tbsp. l. Such a bomb will take about 12 hours to dry, then it can be removed from the mold and dried until completely ready on a sheet of paper.

DIY bath bombs strawberry fountain

Also an interesting recipe. It will be especially relevant in winter, when you miss warm summer days, the fragrant smells of berries, a gentle river and soft sand on the shore. For this bomb we need:

  • 4 tbsp. l. Soda;
  • 2 tbsp. l. Citric acid or ascorbic acid in powder form;
  • Red food coloring 5-6 drops;
  • Grapeseed base oil;
  • Cosmetic fragrance strawberry;
  • 1 tbsp. l. Powdered milk or dry cream.

First, combine and thoroughly mix all the bulk ingredients - soda, lemon or ascorbic acid, milk powder or cream. Next, add the base oil, if 1 spoon seems not enough, add another one, mix everything again. And the procedure is completed with fragrance and dye. Having added them, we will mix our composition again and put it in a mold, and in a day we will get a beautiful and vivid memory of summer and a strawberry patch in our own bathtub.

homemade pop without base oil and lemon

As it turns out, such options also exist. I don’t know whether they will boil; without acid there seems to be no reaction. However, DIY bath water bombs also have a beneficial effect on appearance and skin health, here is a recipe for such a healthy ball. To make it you will need:

  • A glass of baking soda;
  • 1 person Chamomile flowers crushed into powder or the same amount of decoction from it;
  • 1 person Lavender flower powder;
  • 0.5 cups of cold water;
  • Esters to choose from or all together - lavender, bergamot, mint, eucalyptus, cedar, rosemary.

First, mix soda and dried flowers, then add ethers to the water and mix the liquid, and finally, combine the liquid and bulk parts together. Mix everything well and put it in the mold. We leave our bomb to dry in a warm, secluded place for 12-24 hours, and then enjoy the bath procedure. This composition remarkably calms and balances the nervous system, relieves fatigue, helps get rid of headaches and insomnia. And so that the bomb still sizzles, I would add 1 tsp to the water with ethers before combining them with the powder. Hydrogen peroxide, no matter what, is an acid, and it’s useful for disinfection.

Homemade bubble bath bombs

I also figured out how to make soap bombs for the bath with my own hands, which, when dissolved, will not only create a bubbling geyser, but also a head of foam. For this bathroom fireworks we will need:

  1. Baking soda 4 tbsp. l;
  2. Lemon 2 tbsp. l.
  3. Marine or pink salt 1 tbsp. l.
  4. Soap shavings 1-2 tbsp. l. (shavings can be grated on a fine grater or bought at a soap maker store);
  5. Basic vegetable oil, for example, sweet almonds 1-2 tbsp. l.
  6. Any essential oils in the amount of 10-15 drops, for me it will be lavender and chamomile.

In a deep bowl, combine soda, lemon, salt and soap shavings and mix them thoroughly. Then add base oil and esters and mix again. We check the mixture for stickiness by squeezing a small lump in the palm of our hand, and if everything is fine, we proceed to filling the mold. Then we leave the future bomb to dry for a day near a radiator or room heater, and after the specified time we are happy with the result.

And here’s another video from YouTube that clearly shows the whole process of making such bombs.

And finally, some useful tips:

Tip 1. If during cooking the composition suddenly begins to hiss, just add a pinch of dry ingredients - soda and lemon, this should muffle the reaction.

Tip 2. Instead of water, it is much more effective to use alcohol; on the one hand, it improves the adhesiveness of the mixture, and on the other hand, it does not cause a hissing reaction, because it has time to evaporate before the soda and acid interact.

Tip 3. In principle, you can mix the ingredients for bombs with your bare hands, however, if you decide to use dyes, it is better to wear gloves, because both food and synthetic dyes adhere well to the skin and are difficult to wash off.

Tip 4. If you are not going to use the product immediately after drying, then wrap it in 2-3 layers cling film. This will protect the bomb from moisture getting into it and prevent the occurrence of a hissing reaction.

Tip 5. If you don’t know what to give your friend for March 8 or her birthday, arm yourself with a box with several homemade fizzy balls and tie it up satin ribbon, here the gift is ready. I definitely wouldn’t be able to resist such a box; I would be happy like a child.
