Adjusting the plastic door handle. Tips on how to adjust a plastic door for the winter yourself. When is door adjustment needed?

During the period of operation of PVC windows and doors, there is a need for their periodic adjustment in connection with preparation for the summer or winter season or repair in case of wear. To do this, you can call a specialist to your home or perform all the adjustment work yourself. The first option is not always convenient, and in the second case, the lack of necessary skills may interfere. Therefore, let's take a detailed look at all the stages of adjusting PVC windows and doors and, based on the knowledge gained, prepare them for the winter period.

The design of plastic windows and doors - the need to adjust them

Design plastic systems is a complex mechanism that requires planned maintenance or periodic repairs. Planned activities are carried out when the seasons change, when it is necessary to adjust the plastic windows before the onset of winter. Most often this concerns proper pressing of the sashes, elimination of friction, replacement rubber seal.

Since we are more interested in how to properly adjust plastic windows and what to pay attention to when doing so, we will consider this case in more detail. Let's start by studying the structure of window systems. Main material of manufacture metal-plastic windows– polyvinyl chloride. Compared to other materials, it has high performance characteristics, withstands various physical attacks well, chemical influences, temperature changes. Primarily daily and seasonal. Windowed or door block consists of the following elements:

  • frame - a fixed section to which other elements are attached;
  • sashes - moving parts that open in the horizontal and vertical planes;
  • reinforcing profile, the location of which inside the frame gives the structure a certain rigidity;
  • double-glazed windows (double-chamber ones retain heat better than single-chamber ones);
  • window fittings - special mechanisms that ensure opening and fixing of sashes;
  • impost necessary for closing the sashes;
  • glazing bead - with its help the glass is securely fixed in the frame;
  • ebb - serves to drain water and remove condensate from drainage holes.

The design of plastic doors is somewhat different from the window system. The main differences are as follows:

  • instead of a double-glazed window, an opaque sandwich panel can be installed in the lower part;
  • a mortise lock can be installed as a locking device at the customer’s request;
  • because of bigger size and the weight of the door, more powerful hinges are installed;
  • For smooth automatic closing of the door, it is possible to install a closer;
  • low tide is not established.

Otherwise design windows and doors, both with simple and complex opening, have many similarities. For example, the presence of a locking mechanism consisting of locking rollers (eccentrics) located along the perimeter of the opening part of the sash, with the exception of the bottom. Operated by hand. Opposite the eccentrics with a slight offset on the impost and frame metal-plastic construction to close tightly , metal retaining strips are installed.

The rollers, driven by turning the window (door) handle, begin lateral displacement and engage with the slats, which ends with the sash tightly pressed against the window frame. When preparing plastic Euro-windows for winter conditions, the fittings are adjusted in such a way as to ensure the tightest fit of the sash and prevent the possibility of cold air entering the room.

To open the window, we carry out the reverse movement, which leads to a break in the connection. Before the onset of summer, the fittings are adjusted in such a way as to reduce the level of pressure on the sash and the sealing gasket. Large gaps compensate for the effect of thermal expansion in summer period, therefore, reduce the likelihood of deformation of the window block.

Elimination of basic technical malfunctions of window systems

One of the reasons that prevents a window from closing tightly is friction. It usually manifests itself during operation by lowering the sash onto the frame, less often when it is shifted laterally. Opening and closing is difficult. In some cases, this leads to a loose fit of the window in its lower part and the formation of a gap through which water begins to flow into the room. cold air. The Eurowindow is drafty. With further lowering, the resistance to the normal movement of the sash increases, which can lead to the formation of serious defects and cause breakdown. You can eliminate the defect yourself in one of two ways.

The first method consists of horizontal adjustment of the upper adjustment screw in the case when there is a lateral movement of the sash in horizontal plane, and its middle part touches the frame. Since the screw is located in the area of the top hinge, its adjustment occurs with the sash fully open. Not to be confused with the “ventilation” position, in this case access to adjustment mechanism limited. We can adjust the lower horizontal adjustment screw in the “open” and “ventilation” positions. The adjustment range is (-) 2 mm.

To make the adjustment, we perform the following operations:

  • open the door;
  • in the upper end part we find the adjusting screw, it is located at the end;
  • by rotating it using a hexagon, we move the sash in a horizontal plane in the desired direction - to the right or left;
  • in the same way we adjust the adjusting screw on the lower hinge;
  • We check how the opening and closing occurs and whether the “friction” has been eliminated.

The second method is to adjust the height of the sash in case of sagging. Sequence of work for adjusting the lower adjustment screw:

  • remove the protective cap from bottom loop;
  • we rotate the vertical screw in the direction we need, clockwise rotation raises the sash, counterclockwise - lowers it;
  • Once the setup is complete, install a protective cap on the loop.

When setting up metal-plastic windows with your own hands, you should turn the screw little by little, literally half a turn at a time, constantly checking the functionality of the system.

Other common breakdowns and how to fix them

The handle turns with great effort. The reason may be contamination or lack of lubricant on the moving parts of the window system. In this case, take machine oil (you can use other oil, the main thing is that it is viscous) and use an oil can to apply it to all moving elements. Lubrication of the opening-closing mechanism located inside window profile, we carry out through the upper technical holes. Or by unscrewing one of the top screws on the end side of the sash. Flowing down, the oil will evenly cover protective film all moving parts and mechanisms.

The handle is loose. Another common problem that occurs when long-term operation. To make repairs, we take and lift the decorative plate covering the base of the handle. Turn it 90° and gain access to the mounting screws. In this case, it is better to set the handle horizontally. Tighten the screws with moderate force, being careful not to damage the plastic holding the handle. Otherwise you will need to install a new one. Return the plate to its original position.

The handle is broken. In this case, it is advisable to purchase a new handle and install it yourself. To remove the broken handle, turn the protective plate and unscrew the fastening screws. We install the new handle and tighten the screws, return the plate to its place. If the handle turns tightly, lubricate the mechanism with machine oil or special for lubricating plastic window fittings.

It is necessary to adjust the pressure using eccentrics and trunnions. For repairs, you will need pliers or a hexagon. The adjustment of the clamping cylindrical pins with a hole for a hexagon (eccentrics) is carried out with a hexagon, pins without holes (trunnions) - with pliers.

When closing the sash, the cylinders engage with the strikers and press it securely. Adjustment is carried out in two directions:

  • Vertical - the clamping force decreases, which would be better suited for summer mode.
  • Horizontally – the clamping force increases, which is better suited for winter mode.

When setting up for winter, it is important to make adjustments so that it does not blow. To do this, place a sheet of paper around the perimeter of the sash under the rubber seal. We close the window and try to pull out the paper. If it comes out freely, it means the seal is not tight. We open the sash and, by rotating the eccentric (trunnion) in the desired direction, strengthen the pressure. We close the sash and again check the clamping force using a sheet of paper. We repeat the operation until the sheet is securely held by the seal. Using this method, we check the clamping force along the entire perimeter of the sash.

When adjusting the trunnions with pliers, in order not to scratch the surface of the pressure cylinder, it is necessary to place a soft cloth!

The rubber seal has become unusable. The sash is closed and pressed tightly, but air movement is felt between the window and the frame. If it was not possible to fix the problem by adjusting the eccentrics, then this indicates wear of the rubber seal and a decrease in its elasticity. The correct thing to do is replace it with a new one. This can be done without outside help.

Remove the old seal from the groove. We mark the new seal strictly according to the dimensions of the old one, preferably a little larger. This will allow the ends of the seal to fit tightly to each other at the joints, since installation should be done without tension. We place the rubber strips in a special groove and press it in, achieving a tight fit. Finally, we fasten the ends of the seal at the junction with glue.

To prevent drying and cracking of the rubber seal and to extend its service life, it is recommended to periodically treat its surface with silicone grease.

Instructions for adjusting balcony doors

The adjustment occurs according to the same scheme as in the case of plastic windows. We discussed the main points above. In addition to seasonal adjustments, sometimes there is a need for unscheduled repairs. For example, in cases where:

  • The door leaf is closed, but it “sees through” and does not block the air movement.
  • When opening and closing the door, it touches the door frame, requiring additional effort.
  • The door handle turns very tightly or, on the contrary, becomes loose.

Scheme for adjusting the balcony door in three planes:

  • Vertical, allowing it to be raised or lowered.
  • Frontal, that is, when the clamping force is adjusted along the entire perimeter.
  • Horizontal, allowing you to move the door to the left or right. The adjustment screws are located in the area of the upper and lower hinge.

So, we looked at how to properly, and most importantly, independently carry out repairs or seasonal adjustments of windows. We hope that after reading the proposed materials and instructions, it will not be difficult for you to carry out minor repairs and adjustments on your own. And thereby improve living conditions and extend the service life of window and balcony systems.

Plastic doors are widely used in houses, apartments, offices and shops: they are used as balconies, interior doors, and entrance doors. This is a great alternative wooden doors, and such products better protect against noise, dust, and have a large margin of safety. Over time, plastic doors may need to be adjusted , which is easy to do yourself.

When is adjustment required?

Even if you did not skimp on quality and purchased an expensive one from a trusted manufacturer, this does not mean that in a few years the door will not need to be adjusted. This problem is associated with many factors:

  • Shrinkage of the building.
  • Incorrect installation.
  • Incorrect operation.
  • Sagging of the structure due to its own weight.

In order to know exactly how to adjust , You can watch how the installers do it. Over time, this skill may come in handy.

You can find out that the doors require adjustment if drafts appear, the door begins to open or close poorly, or is no longer parallel to the frame. To determine how tightly the structure fits, you can use a regular sheet of paper, which needs to be placed between door frame and the frame itself. When sealed tightly, it will not be possible to pull out the sheet. If it comes out easily or falls out, it means the fit in that area is weak.

The sash could have moved due to frequent temperature changes, weakening of the door mechanism, which is why it begins to touch the frame elements. Adjust plastic door It is also necessary in a situation where, when opening, it touches the threshold. When setting up, look at the handle: it may dangle or fly out of its socket, also requiring adjustment. The canvas may not fit tightly to the frame due to wear of the seal, which will need to be replaced.

Having identified the malfunction, you will understand what kind of adjustment of plastic doors you need on your own; The instructions for all actions are simple and accessible to any owner. can be adjusted in three directions; for this you will need to prepare the tools in advance. You will need two screwdrivers: flat and Phillips, hexagon, tape measure, plastic spacers, pliers.

A properly adjusted door should be stable in any position

Vertical adjustment

The hinges are adjusted using a special screw located on them. When it rotates, the door will lower or rise. This method is used if the sash touches the threshold or the seal in the lower or upper part has dents.

Before starting work, you will need to remove the cap from the adjusting screw, which is located on the lower hinge. It is located along its axis. You can rotate the screws using a hexagon. When turning the mechanism clockwise, the blade will rise, and in the opposite direction, the blade will lower.

Adjusting the height of a plastic balcony door

Horizontal adjustment

This type of adjustment is needed if the blade is sagging. Most often this happens due to the large mass of the structure. The height of the plastic door is adjusted when the leaf is open. To do this, you need to unscrew the screws from the upper hinges, then you need to close the sash, remove the covers on the hinges covering the screws for adjustment. Adjustment occurs using the longest fastener element in a horizontal position.

If there is a skew, you will need to tighten this screw on the upper and central hinges; the one located higher should be tightened more tightly. If you don't know how to tighten the plastic balcony door so that it sits straight, loosen all the horizontal screws and adjust them together.

Pressure debugging

You need to know not only how to adjust the plastic balcony door on one's own , but also when it is required to do this. For example, the pressure needs to be monitored constantly, and not just when you notice a problem. IN summer time plastic expands due to high temperatures, so the clamp needs to be loosened; in winter, on the contrary, it needs to be strengthened to eliminate drafts, since expansion will stop happening. The installation of a plastic door to a balcony is quite simple, so you only need a hex key to operate it. Locate the locking type trunnion on the frame. There is a special notch on this structural element that will help determine the degree of clamping density. Rotating the notch towards the frame will provide weakening, in reverse side– gain.

If the position of the adjustment screws is extreme, the adjustment will not be effective. In this case, you will have to resort to adjusting the position of the glass unit. Pull out the glazing beads that secure it, install gaskets in the right places, this can be done using special device- shoulder blades. You can get rid of the distortion by choosing the right place for the gasket and taking into account its thickness. After this, the glazing beads can be returned to their place.

Adjusting the door leaf pressure

Replacing the seal

If plastic doors have not been adjusted independently for quite a long time, and the door has been used skewed, noticeable deformation of the sealing material often occurs. It will need to be changed: you can buy a new one at hardware store. Pay attention to the shape and cross-section of the purchased material - they must match the old one.

You can remove a seal that has become unusable from the groove using a flat-head screwdriver. Remove dirt and glue build-up, apply a new layer of it, insert a fresh seal so that it does not stretch or sag.

Debugging the state of handles

These products can become loose or, conversely, turn tightly, preventing the door from opening normally. In the first case, the plastic entrance door is adjusted using screws located on the handle. To do this, you need to remove the protective cover by tightening them with a screwdriver.

The second version of the problem will require different efforts. To fix the problem, you will need to adjust the door leaf. How to adjust hinges on plastic doors , described above. If you have installed the blade correctly, but the defect in the handle has not disappeared, it will need to be replaced. This is easy to do: you need to unscrew the two screws that hold the product, pull out the handle, replace it with a new one and screw the screws in place.

Handle adjustment
  • In order to protect the door from damage and eliminate the need for frequent adjustments, you can install an opening limiter. This device will protect the hinges from becoming loose, as it will prevent them from touching the door jamb.
  • One more useful device is a microlift. It takes on the weight of the door leaf in the closed position and prevents it from sagging.
  • To extend the service life of the seal, it must be treated with silicone grease.
  • You can't hang anything on the door handle.
  • All parts of the opening mechanism must be lubricated regularly

Following these simple rules will extend the life of the door, avoiding frequent adjustments.

Experience shows that it is more practical to install plastic doors on a balcony or loggia. Firstly, it’s cheap, and secondly, they retain heat well and prevent drafts or moisture from entering the room.

Initially, when installing plastic doors, the craftsmen adjust them, but after a while, difficulties may arise with closing or opening them. In this case, there are two options for resolving the problem - call a specialist, or adjust the balcony door yourself.

First, let's look at what problems may arise during operation:

  • The door has dropped and touches the threshold;

This is all due to the load of the canvas with glass on the hinges, which causes sagging.

  • The door does not close or closes poorly in the middle of the leaf;

The canvas may move towards the free edge of the box due to temperature or increased constant humidity.

  • The canvas does not close tightly, and cold air or a draft enters the room from the door;

It can occur during operation when the control mechanism becomes slightly loose.

  • The handle is loose;

The handle begins to loosen due to frequent use and this is a common practice when using a plastic door.

How to troubleshoot problems yourself:

1. Sagging of the canvas on the threshold

We begin the adjustment from the top hinge; to do this, the door must be opened. At the very top of the hinge there is a hex or asterisk screw (in different models are different). We select a suitable key and make several turns with the key clockwise. There is no need to overdo it, it is better to tighten it once again after checking.

If after the work done the sash touches the threshold, then you need to look at the lower hinge. If there is a protective cap on the loop, it must be removed. We are looking for the same hexagon or asterisk, it will also be located at the top of the loop. We make several turns with the key clockwise. We check, this procedure should solve the problem completely.

2. The leaf touches the door frame in the middle

This nuance can be solved by tightening the bolt on the canopy. We start everything from the bottom canopy, only this time we look for the bolt on the side. We select the key and make several turns back clockwise. This procedure will pull the canvas towards the canopy and automatically move it away from the free edge of the box.

If after such manipulations the door still rubs against the frame, then we carry out all of the above with the upper canopy.

Don’t be lazy, check several times whether everything suits you; if there are any shortcomings, it is better to eliminate them immediately.

3. Gaps between the box and the canvas, allowing moisture or cold to enter the room. How to adjust the pressure of a plastic balcony door:

This drawback can also be solved at home yourself. We open the door and look for trunnions (or eccentrics) from the free side edge. Often there are three of them: at the top, in the middle and at the bottom.

Trunnions or eccentrics need to be turned slightly to the side using a screwdriver or pliers sealing gum. After each change in the position of the eccentrics, you need to check the door pressure. This procedure must be carried out with all three eccentrics.

This may take some time, because the work is delicate and scrupulous. You also need to check the pressure on the hinge side. We close the door and look for a bolt in the awnings at the top and bottom; we need to tighten it a little.

Most owners of metal-plastic windows sooner or later have a question: how to adjust a plastic balcony door with your own hands? The thing is that no matter how high-quality the door itself and the fittings that ensure its closing and opening are, over time the mechanism requires adjustment.

Of course, in order to adjust the balcony door, you can contact the company that installed it. However, this opportunity is not always available, and specialists often carry out adjustment visits a few days after the application. That’s why it’s better to master all the necessary skills yourself – fortunately, there’s nothing complicated about it.

Why the door requires adjustment: causes and prevention

Possible problems with the door

As a rule, preventive maintenance made from a metal-plastic profile is not required. This means that if there are no complaints about the functioning of the door, you do not need to call a specialist once a year or every six months.

The question “how to adjust a plastic balcony door?” should only be raised when you begin to notice that the door is not functioning as it should.

The most common problems include the following situations:

  • The lower part of the sash touches the edge of the frame, which serves as a threshold. The most common reason for this is the sash sagging under its own weight.
    This is explained simply: a significant proportion of the weight of the door leaf is made up of double-glazed windows, and if your balcony door has a double-glazed unit installed, and the glass instead of 4 mm has a thickness of 6 mm, sooner or later the hinges will “get tired” under the heavy weight, and the leaf will move.

  • The sash touches the frame in the middle part. The reason for this is the lateral displacement of the sash due to temperature or other deformations.
    Most often, such displacement can be eliminated by adjusting the hinges.
  • The sash is not pressed tightly against the frame, and cold air is blowing out from under the seal. Most often this is due to the rotation of the corresponding locking elements.
  • The handle does not fit tightly in the socket and wobbles when rotated. The simplest case, which can be adjusted in just a couple of minutes.

Therefore, before adjusting plastic balcony doors, you need to figure out what exactly requires adjustment. And when you determine the location of the malfunction, the adjustment task will be significantly simplified.

Preventing problems with balcony doors

Of course, knowing how to adjust plastic balcony doors is very useful.

However, no less useful is information that allows you to avoid adjustments, or at least make it so that you have to adjust the window less often:

Note!

The design of the microlift can be different, starting from a small lever on the side of the sash, and ending with a roller on its lower part.

  • Also, installing an opening limiter - a special tire that supports and

These measures will help you prevent problems with the operation of the door leaf, but if adjustment is still needed, then below we will tell you how to adjust a balcony door - plastic or aluminum profile.

Balcony door adjustment

Sagging adjustment

If the balcony door, when opened, touches the frame with the lower edge of the sash, it means that the sagging sash needs to be adjusted. In order to eliminate this malfunction, we need to “move” the door leaf up and move it to the top hinge.

How will we do this?

  • Open the sash in a rotating position (not for ventilation!)
  • Using a hex adjustment wrench (4 mm), turn the screw at the end of the sash near the top hinge. To tighten the sash, you need to make several turns clockwise. After this, close the sash.

Note!

In some hardware systems, the adjusting screws are made not for a hexagon, but for a special “asterisk” key. Take this into account, and if necessary, purchase such a key in advance.

  • Remove the plastic decorative caps from the lower hinge to gain access to the upper adjustment screw.
  • We turn the adjusting screw at the upper end of the hinge clockwise, thereby lifting the sash.
  • We check how freely the fold moves and, if necessary, repeat the operations.

Adjustment when touching in the middle part

If the sash touches the frame in the middle part, then it is necessary to move it closer to the hinges.

How to adjust a plastic balcony door in this case?

  • First, we move the sash to the bottom hinge. To do this, insert the adjusting key into the side adjusting screw and tighten the sash to the hinge.

  • If this is not enough, then repeat the procedure for the top loop. Adjusting the top hinge is described above.

As a rule, these actions are quite enough to prevent the sash from clinging to the frame.

Pressure adjustment

The pressure force of the balcony door sash to the frame is adjusted using locking elements located on the sash itself. Most fitting systems have these locking elements They have the shape of eccentrics, so by rotating them with an adjusting wrench or pliers, you can achieve optimal pressure.

Plastic steel doors a worthy alternative wooden and external design, both in cost and durability. To ensure high durability, it should be remembered that any mechanism needs periodic adjustment, so adjusting plastic doors is a mandatory procedure. Next, we will look in detail at how to adjust a plastic door yourself, using a minimal set of tools.

Adjusting a plastic door is a very real task.

Before adjusting the doors yourself, study the documents for the purchased product. Firstly, there may be detailed instructions on setting up this particular model, and secondly, you should make sure that the warranty has already expired, because if the door is under warranty, then one call is enough, and it will be set up for you.

Setting up entrance and interior plastic doors with your own hands differs from adjusting plastic ones balcony structures. This is caused by several reasons:

  • Plastic thickness and profile configuration for balcony and interior doors different. By the way, the design of entrance and interior doors is almost the same, so adjusting a plastic entrance door is done in the same way as adjusting an interior door.
  • The adjustment of plastic entrance doors is mainly carried out by adjusting the hinges, and additional fittings and handles are involved in the adjustment of balcony doors.
  • A balcony door is often equipped with a folding ventilation mechanism, which is also adjustable, while its entrance and interior counterparts do not have a folding ventilation mechanism at all.
  • How to adjust plastic doors is largely influenced by the weight of the structure. Often, a balcony door is almost half the weight, which means there are fewer adjustment and locking screws in the design.

How to properly adjust a plastic balcony door is written in detail with examples and explanations. If your plastic balcony door is completely jammed, then there is information about the causes of the breakdown and methods of repair.

When to adjust doors

Any, even the most expensive and beautiful plastic door, sooner or later needs adjustment. The need for periodic adjustment is caused by the following reasons:

  • The building itself may sink. In this case, the box warps slightly.
  • Problems may be caused by incorrect installation. Here the errors will appear within a month. As a rule, the door closes tightly or poorly.
  • Incorrect or intensive use. Often this requires adjusting the hinges and replacing the seal.
  • Doors can sag under their own weight. Here the hinges are also tightened in height, plus sometimes the pressure of the plastic door needs to be adjusted.

Before adjusting a plastic door, you need to diagnose it. This will give a clear understanding of which node needs to be configured.

First of all, inspect the door leaf and the receiving frame around the perimeter. Minor abrasions indicate that the door has sagged. Immediately mark these places with a pencil.

If you notice that it has begun to leak through the doors, it means that there is a gap somewhere along the perimeter of the canvas. It is useless to examine the clamp with a lit candle in plastic doors; the flame will begin to fluctuate only if there is a very large gap, while small cracks are covered with a seal, and the candle does not react to them.

The sagging area can be identified using a sheet of paper. You need to insert a sheet of paper between the frame and the door leaf, then close the doors and try to pull the paper out. If the pressure is good, the paper will sit tightly, but if the pressure is poor, you will pull out the sheet freely. This way the entire perimeter is examined.

It happens that the door clamp has absolutely nothing to do with it, the rubber seal is simply worn out or damaged in some area. In this case, you must first replace the seal and then check the pressure.

To identify the curvature of the door leaf horizontally and vertically, you need to completely close the doors and trace the leaf along the contour with a simple pencil. Next, take a ruler and measure the distance from the drawn line to the edge of the box.

Vertically you need to measure at three or four points, horizontally at two or three points. Although sometimes without measurements, the naked eye can see where the doors have moved.

Not so often, but it still happens that the cause of problems with doors is the locks themselves, the strike and locking strips of the locks, as well as the latches and the door closer. Therefore, when diagnosing, we recommend disconnecting the closer first, and then checking the lock group. If everything is in order there, then you can begin checking according to the scheme described above, that is, looking for abrasions, checking the pressure with a paper sheet and outlining the outline of the canvas.

By the way, if you find out that the reason is in the closer, then information on setting it up can be found.

Technique for adjusting various components in plastic doors

It is impossible to say unequivocally how to adjust a plastic entrance door, because the fittings are produced by many companies, which means that its adjustment scheme may differ in each individual case. As already noted - if there are problems with closing entrance doors and the locks are fine, which means you need to look at the hinges.

If the doors are equipped with GreenteQ hinges

Regardless of which company manufactured the hinges, in all such mechanisms, plastic doors can be independently adjusted in three directions:

  1. The door does not close tightly, that is, the clamp.
  2. Vertical is when the door needs to be raised or lowered.
  3. Horizontally - this is when it is necessary to pull the canvas to the right or left.

Door hinges from trademark GreenteQ is equipped with almost half of the plastic doors that exist today. Plus many competitors simply copy general principle the operation of this mechanism, so we will focus on it.

To get to the regulating system, you first need to remove three plastic plugs: on the top, bottom and side.

Next you need to remove the decorative trim itself. To do this, you need to open the door and unscrew the fixing screw, which is located on the inside of the hinge. In GreenteQ hinges, this screw is made for a Phillips screwdriver; there are also screws for a flat-head screwdriver and a thin hexagon.

The pressure on GreenteQ hinges is adjusted by the upper vertical eccentric. This mechanism located on the part of the hinge that is attached to the door leaf.

You need to insert a 4 mm hexagon into the eccentric and then turn it clockwise or counterclockwise. By rotating the hexagon, you can adjust the clamp by approximately 0.75 mm.

If a play of 0.75 mm does not suit you, for example, due to replacing the rubber seal with a thicker one, then you can replace the gasket under the part of the hinge that is fixed to the box. These gaskets are sold. The thickness ranges from 1 to 5 mm, in 1 mm increments.

The hinge spacer can have a thickness from 1 to 5 mm.

The horizontal mechanism of this model is adjusted with a side screw. The screw head is made for a 4 mm hexagon, and the screw itself is part of a horizontal structure. To adjust the hinge, you must first loosen the six mounting screws using a Phillips screwdriver. You don’t need to completely unscrew the screws, just loosen them slightly so that the mechanism moves.

To adjust the door leaf vertically, you need to tighten or loosen the bottom screw. It is noteworthy that the door, adjusted at the factory, lowers only 1 mm and rises 4 mm. This paradox is caused by the fact that the canvas often needs to be lifted, as it sags under its own weight.

Plastic doors – vertical adjustment of the door leaf.

After all the settings, the plastic door closes. decorative overlay, the internal screw is screwed in to secure this cover, and the plugs are installed last.

Setting up the hinges of the WX model

If GreenteQ type hinges are installed on both interior and entrance plastic doors, then the WX model hinges are more designed for heavy street doors, and they are installed not only on plastic, but also on aluminum structures.

The first to be removed are the decorative plugs from the bottom and top. They do not fit tightly; to remove such a plug, you just need to pry it off with a knife.

On the inside, next to the lid latch, there is another hexagon locking screw. It directly fixes the mechanism responsible for adjusting the door leaf horizontally. There is no need to unscrew this screw completely, just loosen it.

As a rule, the decorative protective cover in these models is not completely removed; it is only raised slightly. So, when you lift it, you will find an adjusting screw on the side; the doors are adjusted with this screw.

As the screw rotates, the doors will move to the right or left. The maximum stroke here is about 3 mm.

In the hinges of the WX model, you can still adjust the pressure. The mechanism itself is located in the second, mating part of the structure. To see it, you must first remove the cap. After this, also open the door and release the locking screw from inside the hinge.

This mechanism has another locking plug. It is installed on top and made with a hexagon. This plug is unscrewed and removed completely.

Now it's time to adjust the clamp. To do this, a key or some suitable device is inserted into special grooves, and the mechanism is turned. The key stroke is about 90º, the clamping value is +/- 1 mm.

Do not forget that the mechanisms are “delicate”. After adjustment, they must close and the locking screws must be tightened. Closing is performed in reverse order.

A few words about replacing the seal

In this case, the good news is that the window and door seals are almost the same, and most importantly, the replacement principle is no different. Manufacturers promise that door seal capable of standing for 5–7 years, but according to experienced craftsmen, maximum for rubber seal on doors does not exceed 2–3 years.

Remember, any plastic construction is equipped with several sealing circuits, and the configuration of each of these circuits is different, so it is advisable to take a complete set.

Example of a three-circuit seal for a plastic structure.

It is impossible to adjust the seal; to some extent you can extend its life by lubricating it with silicone, but nothing more. If the tires are worn out, then you only need to change them.

The replacement technology is extremely simple:

  • Find the edge of the old seal and, prying it with something sharp, pull it out of the grooves.
  • Next, use a knife or thin screwdriver to clean out the remaining glue and rubber from the groove.
  • After this, use the same screwdriver or something similar to push the tongue of the new seal into the groove along the entire perimeter.
  • To prevent the seal from being torn out of the groove during operation, it is placed on glue, but you need to act without fanaticism, we drip the glue pointwise, in increments of 50–100 mm, otherwise the next time you replace it you will get tired of cleaning the grooves.
