What is the difference between Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano: comparison, and which is better? Nissan Terrano or Renault Duster: which is better What is the difference between the Duster Terrano

Introductory - for 2 years 65 thousand. For every 100 km - 15% of the run on a terrible dirt-shaking and off-road, on a good track speed 130-150 km / h, city mode 30% of the run. Average consumption 9.8
The maximum speed has all the necessary options, the lowest price among competitors.
I am happy about the cruise control, anticorrosive and how the car "holds" the road (well, rubber is not the last place)
Passable, never bogged down yet. although there is where (forest, field 2 times for departure, snow and showers in the range). Yes, not Niva and Sheviniva (there is an experience of "shit" to mix), and sometimes you have to look at the road, and adequately assess the situation.
There were reviews about poor heating, the ass heats up quickly and hot, the stove quickly draws heat into the cabin, maintains the temperature at 1 speed. I don't like konday categorically, but if necessary, it works fine, especially in the city in the heat.
The machine is utilitarian and fully fulfills the assigned tasks of a semi-rural dweller. A sort of simple and straightforward comfortable mini-truck.
I will say to the blasphemous Duster - buy yourself a Ferarri (though break off for 5 kopecks to find it), and forward along our roads with holes and ruts. Or think before buying what you take and why you need it.

I hardly use the hands-free function. I can hear perfectly, but I practically do not. Weak microphone.
- poor visibility in the rear-view mirror. Especially if the passenger is sitting, whose head almost completely covers the right rear "window". Although I have a "ski" and a view from the left side rack to the right. Side mirrors make the situation easier. They are good, there is no need to readjust when parking.
- maybe not "-" understated speed readings by 4 km / h
- there are no engine temperature readings on the dashboard, sometimes annoying in winter
- drove into a puddle after a heavy rain - the check caught fire. She already waved her hand to correct.
- in winter it is necessary to control the gas tank cap, after washing, do not open, do not close
- lack of rubber bands in the right places. All the dust is "in itself". Especially when you open the rear doors, all the arches are dusty, you wipe with a cloth. For money, I installed a sealing rubber on the hood, the engine and engine compartment became cleaner.
- about short programs - read the "textbook" (instructions). The first for off-road and loaded car (+ trailer). I get under way with the second. The fifth and sixth have a large range, no unnecessary body movements are needed.

Almost every 15 thousand I change the front or rear stabilizer struts. Perhaps off-road shaking makes itself felt.
- under warranty, replacement of the residual oxygen sensor (lambda probe) by 30 thousand
- under the guarantee, the body was repainted in fragments (cracks in the forestry complex of gutters on both sides, chips from gravel on the rear arches and fenders) for 45 thousand. For money, they glued an armored film on the arches.
- 4 times changed the burned out dipped beam lamps. Especially right hemorrhoids change.
- oil and filter change according to the maintenance schedule.

The French SUV Renault Duster has long won well-deserved popularity among the population as a reliable car that can not only feel good in city limits, but also confidently overcome off-road conditions. But recently, a model has been presented on the market, which is based on the same platform - the Nissan Terrano. And right away, many motorists had questions when choosing a car, and this is quite natural, because many functions and pricing policies of the concerns are the same, so you need to compare Nissan Terano and Renault Duster to determine the most optimal choice.

First of all, it is better to start the comparison with the exterior of the two cars. Renault Duster has already undergone one restyling at the moment and the third generation of the SUV is expected to be released soon. Nissan Terrano initially received recognizable design features from other models of the concern, including the recognizable V-shaped elements of the radiator grille, which were previously used in the premium segment. These exterior details, together with the modified bumpers and body kit, positively distinguish it from the competitor. At the same time, both cars managed to maintain their off-road ability and practicality.

Salon

Driving both cars, it becomes clear that these two SUVs belong to the budget class. But, despite this, all the achievements of modern engineering are used in the interior. The dashboard and center console have a modern look, all the necessary information about the car is available to the driver.

If we compare the dashboard, then after the restyling the Renault Dester's differences are that it has undergone significant changes and has become more harmonious. After the appearance of the model on the market, she received numerous positive reviews.

But at the same time, the "Frenchman" has serious disadvantages. The most important of them is the low location of the multimedia system. Because of this, the owner of the Duster often has to be distracted from the road in order to look at what is happening on the screen. Nissan developers have foreseen this problem and placed the display at the top of the panel, just below the vents.

Passability

Both cars belong to the SUV class - crossover crossovers. Therefore, this assessment criterion is one of the most important. To understand how adapted the car is for driving on rough terrain

The four-wheel drive of these vehicles is made using the same technology. It activates automatically. For it, an electromagnetic clutch is provided in the transmission, which, if necessary, allows you to connect a rear-wheel drive.

If we compare Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano based on other off-road qualities, then we can highlight several disadvantages of the "Japanese". These include excessive overload of body kits with decorative elements. This greatly reduces the angles of entry, reducing the Nissan's cross-country ability. Therefore, if you plan to often use the car for hunting, fishing or for moving around the countryside, then you should give preference to Duster.

Engines

One of the important parameters by which cars should be judged are engines. Both cars are equipped with 1.6-liter power units with a capacity of 102 l / s and 2.0 liters, giving out 135 l / s. But at the same time, their settings are slightly different. But they have slightly different settings that allow the Nissan Terrano to develop 195Nm of torque against the Renault Duster with its 190Nm.

In addition, the French concern has the opportunity to equip the car with a diesel engine. Its engine displacement is 1.5 liters, which produce 90 l / s. Moreover, it is very economical. Average fuel consumption is 5.3 liters per 100 kilometers.

The lack of an automatic transmission in all trim levels can also become a disadvantage of a car from a Japanese concern.

Outcome

If we summarize all the pros and cons, then we can come to the conclusion that it is better to choose Nissan for moving in urban conditions. It has higher dynamics, and at the same time a more elaborate exterior and interior. Renault is more intended for off-road conquest. But, in any case, before buying, it is better to order a test drive in order to independently evaluate both cars.

Both cars are built not just on a common platform, but at the same plant and even on the same conveyor using the same power units, transmissions and even bodies. The difference lies in the styling of the front end and the aft headlights. The Terrano has a larger grille and more chrome body inserts that evoke a sense of solidity.

In other words, Nissan took Renault's most popular car and turned it into its junior SUV.

Five or six steps?

Now both cars have gone through an update, got better noise insulation and learned to drive stably at speeds over 120 km / h. The suspension, which is unchanged on both SUVs, is legendary. This is the most impenetrable and reliable construction of all that are sold in the mainstream segment. With both the Duster and Terrano, you can safely go on a long journey on the worst roads. Where others change their punctured wheels, both cars fly by with ease.

But what is the difference between twin brothers and why should buyers pay attention to one to the detriment of the other and overpay 120 thousand more for a car?

When the Duster was designed, it was assumed that it would be a real hard worker. He can go to the mountains, and he is not averse to riding on soggy primers. Severe operating conditions impose their own requirements on the machine. Duster is accustomed to being perceived as a stern fellow who does not like to lavish sentiment. And that means that the combat equipment is just right for him.

Without a mechanical box and all-wheel drive from Murano, he is ashamed to show up. With a 6-speed transmission, the car differs markedly from the 5-speed front wheel drive version. The gear ratios of the off-road box give it a special character. The first stage is very short and only serves for cross-country driving. It is not recommended to use it on asphalt. Fuel consumption is too high.

You need to start from the second, and I did it even at idle speed. Stick in the handle and slowly release the clutch. The car adds a little traction and rolls forward completely freely.

Two machines

The interior of the Nissan Terrano is exactly the same as the Duster. He even has a similar interior smell. The seats, dashboard, transmission knob and key layout are reminiscent of Renault, with a Japanese logo on the steering wheel instead of a diamond emblem.

Therefore, it depends on the future owner how to make the car as unlike the French as possible. We completely sweep aside the leather interior. It smells too pungent in the sun. Although the fabric upholstery loses in functionality, it looks more aesthetically pleasing.

A radio with a large screen and a navigation unit is required on the center console. It brings more convenience into operation and pleases with useful properties. True, it glares in the sun, and the image is lost.

And most importantly, Terrano must be purchased with an automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter version has the same TL8 unit as the Duster. It is predictable in city traffic jams and gives the car comfort. And in terms of reliability, TL8 fits well with the idea of a Japanese brand. Although the previous Terrano had problems with this transmission. She overheated under strong and prolonged loads. In the modernized version, the machine was corrected and taught to cope with mud and snow. And that's a good thing, because the 2.0-liter Terrano AWD 4AT comes with four-wheel drive. It is based on the same Murano clutch as on the Duster, capable of locking with a 50/50 thrust split.

Such a combination is much inferior to the version with a manual transmission, and it has nothing to do off-road. The automatic machine immediately starts burning fuel and at low revs overloads the engine and torque converter. The gear ratios do not allow you to subtly climb onto the boulders, as it comes with the Duster on the mechanics. Therefore, the lot of Terrano with a gun is city life, light snowdrifts and short runs on dirt roads to the country in the summer. All-wheel drive Nissan with a gun is not capable of great feats. There is a 6-speed manual for this. And she works wonders. But driving a Nissan with a mechanic is undignified.

In general, identical cars sold in two guises can solve different problems. For connoisseurs of brutal style and high comfort "Terrano" with an automatic transmission is suitable. Paying more than a million for such a dandy is not a pity. The car really looks decent, and the high reliability of its new units is confirmed by the reviews of the owners.

Well, the more rustic Duster is useful for people forced to drive off-road. With all its functionality, it is not a pity to rip it off on branches and stones. Such jewelry even suits him.

Crossovers are now at their peak of popularity, and therefore a large number of different models of cars of this class are produced from a variety of brands. But there are among the crossovers and those that practically do not differ from each other, which is why they are compared to determine what caused the higher cost of one of the models.

So, the only question that is brewing when you look at Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano cars is: what is the difference? Of course, if you do not take into account the price, which is significantly higher for a Japanese car. Let's try to figure out what are the similarities and differences between the Nissan Terrano and Renault Duster, as well as which car will be more optimal.

Outwardly, these 2 crossovers look almost like clones, especially when viewed from the side. The cars have almost the same dimensions, identical design, so it is almost impossible to immediately distinguish which car is in front of you: Renault Duster or Nissan Terrano. But still, there are certain details that indicate that the French and Japanese crossovers still differ:

  • Nissan's bumper shape is slightly more aggressive;
  • lighting system. Here also the Japanese wins, whose headlights and lanterns are more suitable for use in the city;
  • also the Nissan Terrano, which is positioning itself as a premium car, received a grille that looks richer than that of its French opponent.

But after restyling, Renault has improved significantly in terms of appearance, the model looks unusually modern, unambiguously, more expensive than its real value. The machine is compact and functional, in addition, it is raised quite high. The car embodies the current trends in mechanical engineering. But the Japanese opponent focuses on tradition: aggressiveness, a branded radiator grill and other details that immediately make it clear that there is a Nissan in front of you.

But besides these parameters, it is useless to compare the Nissan Terrano and Renault Duster in terms of appearance, because the cars are exactly the same, right down to the roof rails. Even the platforms of these crossovers are absolutely identical, because they are unified. Therefore, there is no clear winner here: although Terrano looks a little more representative, it costs significantly more.

The next point of the answer to the question: "Renault Duster or Nissan Terrano which is better?" will be the interior of the cars. And here again the difficulty arises in the search for differences. If we talk about multimedia and the dashboard, then the difference is only in the details:

  • air deflectors have different shapes: round for a Frenchman and rectangular for a Japanese;
  • the multimedia system differs seriously and is by no means in favor of Terrano: Duster has a 7-inch touch screen and the ability to view the rear parking sensors;
  • Nissan only boasts a 5-inch screen, which is not nearly as functional.

In other parameters of the interior, the cars are almost identical, so if you choose Nissan Terrano or Renault Duster based on the level of comfort in the cabin, then this is the wrong choice. In both cars, the main finishing material is high-tech fabric. Both that and that crossover have the same dimensions of the inner part. By the way, passengers sitting in the back often experience inconvenience because of the close enough seats installed.

If we talk about the trunk of the Nissan Terrano and Renault Duster, no one will tell you what the difference is, since the parameters and dimensions are absolutely the same. True, the all-wheel drive Renault, nevertheless, differs in spaciousness from the front-wheel drive analogue and the Japanese: it has a volume of 410 liters versus 475 liters. By the way, the cargo compartment can be expanded to more than 1600 liters, which will allow you to carry absolutely anything.

But the main difference between many cars is quite rightly considered engines and power indicators, perhaps these parameters will allow comparing the Nissan Terrano and Renault Duster with a big advantage in one of the parties? But it seems that this is also a failure: both cars are equipped with the same gasoline engines:

  • a 1.6 liter gasoline engine capable of producing 102 "horses";
  • 2-liter petrol engine with 143 hp. with.

At the same time, the car from the French brand after restyling overtakes the competitor in terms of diesel engines. The Duster is equipped with a 109 powerful diesel engine, which consumes less than 6 liters per 100 kilometers, and this is definitely an excellent option for a power plant for a crossover. So in terms of economy, the victory will be for Renault Duster.

Both cars have the ability to install both automatic transmission and "mechanics". Moreover, initially only Renault had an all-wheel drive machine, but later Nissan added such an option to its Terrano 4x4. In terms of the chassis, there are no differences: the principle of switching all-wheel drive, the main indicators are the same.

But since the Nissan Terrano and Renault Duster are SUVs, it is imperative to compare their cross-country ability. We can safely say that after the restyling Renault won in the climb angles, in general, the body itself is more adapted to off-road and extreme conditions. The fact is that it is devoid of special frills, practical, so you can easily decide on it to storm any terrain. But this cannot be said about Terrano, since the car has some decorative elements that add solidity, but not practicality.

New Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano: which is better?

Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano can be called, if not siblings, then close blood relatives. The similarities can be seen in almost everything. This is the appearance, and the dimensions, and the interior decoration of the cars, and similar dynamic indicators, technical equipment.

But there are a number of differences. Despite the "consanguinity", crossovers are not all alike. To say that the bulk of them is significant is perhaps not true. But first things first.

Appearance

The crossovers' similarities begin precisely in the exterior. It's hard not to consider them. But in this parameter of comparison, there are also differences that make each car in its own way unique and memorable.

In terms of details, the main differences are the rear and front headlights, bumpers, rims and radiator grilles. Everything else will be correctly called not changes, but restyling. But it is the combination of small differences that creates the unique look of each crossover.

Nissan Terrano looks more "solid and confident". Renault Duster is a frank budget version of a large car. Doesn't add any special status to its owner. Therefore, in the dispute for leadership, it is not the Nissan Terrano that comes out ahead by a small margin, but the design decisions of Japanese developers.

Interior

The latest version of the Nissan Terrano has got a new steering wheel with a corporate logo. The usual round shape of the deflectors was replaced by a rectangular-trapezoidal one, a cover appeared on the compartment for every little thing. The design of the speedometer and tachometer has slightly changed (rather for the worse). A proprietary audio system has appeared. To say that it is much better than the previous one is perhaps incorrect. Renault has this element more aesthetically expressed, the image on a larger display is more colorful and clear. Top versions of Nissan display a picture from a rear-view camera on this monitor, but the location of the screen is not good - too low.
