Mazda cx 5 real gas consumption

The popular Mazda CX 5 crossover model was equipped with four powertrain options - two gasoline, 2 and 2.5 liters, and the same number of turbodiesels, 2.2 liters, but with different power (150 and 175 hp). Each of these models of power units has its own fuel consumption indicators - figures that are quite important for any motorist. And in this case, they are also important for a company that has relied on fuel consumption. After all, the CX-5 crossover is presented by the manufacturer as one of the most economical cars in its class.

Fuel consumption indicators for different engine versions

The value of gasoline or diesel fuel consumption largely depends on the car engine. Thus, the fuel consumption of the Mazda CX-5 with a two-liter engine should not exceed 8–8.1 liters in urban mode. On the highway, a car with the same power unit spends about 6 liters per 100 km, while developing a speed of up to 187 km / h.

Modifications with a diesel engine with a capacity in the range of 150-175 liters. with., also have good dynamic characteristics. With a mass of almost 1.7 tons, such a car is capable of accelerating to hundreds in just 9.4 seconds and reaching speeds of up to 194 km / h.

A car with a 2.5-liter power unit, the performance of which can reach 192-194 hp. s., also shows good performance for its class - 194 km / h and 9 seconds to accelerate to hundreds. Moreover, the crossover's gasoline consumption is not so large - the manufacturer indicates figures of only 6.1–9.3 liters per 100 kilometers.

Tab. 1. Average CX-5 fuel consumption figures.

Meanwhile, the real indicators of fuel consumption can differ significantly from the passport characteristics. This shows that most cars do not operate under ideal conditions. And as evidence of the discrepancy between the numbers, you can cite the reviews of the owners of the crossover.

Feedback on real fuel consumption

Most motorists who managed to purchase the CX-5 crossover have a definite opinion about its performance. One of these figures is the consumption of gasoline or diesel fuel (depending on the engine variant). And it depends not only on the motor, but also on the driving style of the owner of the vehicle, and even on the season.

2 l, automatic transmission 6,5–10,4 Buying a car, choosing between CX-5 and Rav4. Made a choice in favor of Mazda, and still have not regretted. Moreover, in addition to a considerable number of pluses, the car also has low fuel consumption. In winter I spend up to 10.4 liters, in the summer in the city - up to 9 liters. On the highway in the warm season, consumption figures do not even reach 7 liters.
Nicholas, 2.2d, automatic 8–13,5 For 2 years of owning a car was satisfied with many of its characteristics. The only “but” is that the model, which is not accustomed to domestic diesel fuel, spends too much fuel. Especially in the cold season, when the figure reaches 13 liters. Because of this, you have to visit gas stations much more often than you would like.
Marina,

Sevastopol

2.0 l, "automatic" 7–15 Very voracious car. In the city, especially at rush hour, I constantly notice such a figure for gasoline consumption as 13-15 liters. Outside the settlement, especially if the track is flat, consumption drops sharply - sometimes up to 8 liters, and in some cases even up to seven.
Sergey, Voronezh 2.5 l, automatic transmission 8–10,5 I can’t say anything bad about the fuel consumption of my crossover. What 8 or 9 liters can be with the air conditioner on and in the "city" mode? I consider a normal figure of 10-11 liters. Moreover, outside the city, when the speed rises to 80–100 km / h, the figure drops to only 8 liters.
Basil, 2.2, diesel, "automatic" 5,5–9 I chose a diesel SUV for its fuel consumption figures. I was not disappointed - the car spends about 5.5 liters on the highway. And only within settlements, especially at traffic lights, you have to spend up to 9 liters of diesel fuel. But this is not so much, and it is still more profitable than driving on gasoline.

Rostov-on-Don

2.0, automatic transmission 6,8–12,6 When buying a brand new Mazda 5 2 in 2014, I counted on low fuel consumption. In some ways, expectations were justified - the car travels along country roads with a consumption of no more than 6.8–7 liters. Within the city - it spends already 12-12.6 liters.
Alexei,

Nizhny Novgorod

2.5 l, automatic transmission 7,3–12 Model 2015 spends two years after purchase about 12 liters when traveling to work. If we leave the city as a family, we can count on consumption one and a half times lower. Sometimes I even noticed such a figure as 7.3 liters.

Factors affecting crossover consumption

On average, fuel consumption indicators for a crossover are not so great. These values would be much more serious for similar vehicles of other brands. And, if we compare the numbers of diesel engines, given the price of diesel fuel, the CX-5 can be called a completely economical vehicle. However, if such figures still do not suit the car owner, who has to drive mainly in urban mode, you should be aware of the factors that also affect fuel consumption:

  • problems in the operation of the power unit - a wearing out motor spends more consumables (including fuel and lubricant);

  • contamination of fuel injectors, due to which the efficiency of the engine is reduced;
  • the mode of movement of the vehicle - the more often the driver stops or changes the parameters of the trip (brakes or accelerates), the higher the consumption;
  • extreme driving conditions - too low or, conversely, high speeds.

Experienced drivers have long known the dependence of consumption on the technical condition of the vehicle. Therefore, they try to change nozzles in time and prefer to drive outside the city at a speed of at least 90–100 km/h. Moreover, the rather high-speed CX-5 model allows you to go much faster. There are other methods to reduce costs and, accordingly, the cost of car maintenance.

Ways to reduce fuel consumption

Despite the fact that the crossover is a fairly economical vehicle, its consumption of gasoline or diesel fuel does not suit all owners. And in order to make the fuel consumption of the Mazda CX 5 even more profitable, you should follow these recommendations:

  • try to drive more calmly, without unnecessary accelerations and stops. First of all, this applies to long sections without traffic lights and intersections for the city and any flat roads outside settlements;

  • periodically visit the service station to check the performance of the engine;
  • undergo computer diagnostics every few years;
  • change fuel filters regularly, following the recommendations for replacement - that is, about 1 time per 30 thousand kilometers.

Driving at a constant speed is one of the best ways to save fuel. However, no car can be brought to the minimum consumption if its engine is worn out and needs to be overhauled. It is worthwhile to perform such work, after making sure that there is a problem, by contacting car service specialists.

Car diagnostics and overhaul as ways to reduce consumption

Even the fact that the Mazda SCh-5 can be attributed to premium crossovers does not save the car owner from periodic computer diagnostics. With the help of such a check, not only machine breakdowns are determined, but also fuel consumption is calculated - and, in most cases, their cause is revealed. Refusing to diagnose, the driver may find that more and more gasoline or diesel fuel is being spent, the noise from the engine is growing, and the performance of the car is declining.

By keeping your vehicle in good condition, you can save more than just fuel. Careful handling of the CX-5, like any other vehicle, will extend the life of most of its components. And, therefore, it reduces the cost of both fuel and the purchase of new parts and consumables.

Mazda CX 5 fuel consumption figures updated: October 4, 2017 by: dimajp

Many potential buyers want to buy a prestigious and at the same time reliable, economical car. Economy is understood not only as the cost of maintenance or repair, but also what fuel consumption the Mazda CX 5 will have per 100 kilometers. As a rule, a car is purchased for travel, including long distances, so the cost of buying fuel will be of interest to the owner in the first place. Mazda CX 5 fully meets the stated requirements.

This model appeared on the automotive markets in 2011. The manufacturer paid great attention to reducing the weight of the car, but at the same time, high safety, reliability and vehicle dynamics were maintained. The release of this car model has been established in Russia. Previously, the “five” can only be found in one generation, but in 2014 a restyling was performed. Since 2017, the production of second-generation machines has begun.

Mazda CX 5 official fuel consumption figures

The manufacturer determines the normative indicators for the consumption of gasoline or diesel fuel empirically, for this the car is driven for some time along specially prepared tracks. The data obtained is indicated in the operating instructions for the vehicle. For an engine running on SKYACTIV-G 2.0 gasoline, the consumption should be as follows:

  1. When traveling within the city, you will need 8 liters of gasoline for trips over a distance of 100 km.
  2. On country roads, consumption will drop to 4.8 l/100 km.
  3. For a mixed cycle of movement of the car, 6 l / 100 km of run will be required.

A power unit that requires diesel fuel has a higher appetite. On the highway, he will need 5 l / 100 km, in the city already 8.5 l / 100 km, in the mixed trip mode, he will need 6.3 liters of diesel fuel per hundred kilometers. These are the official data of the manufacturer. Fuel consumption largely depends on the type of transmission of the machine, which can be manual or automatic. Also, the drive can be on the front wheels or full, on both axles.

It is rightly considered that the most economical Mazda CX 5 is a front-wheel drive car with a manual transmission. Its two-liter engine will consume 5.2 liters, 7.7 liters, 6.3 liters on the highway, in the city and combined cycle, respectively. For cars with an "automatic" it will take about 0.5 liters more.

Car manufacturers confidently declare that these consumption figures are quite accurate. If in reality they are very different, you should immediately pay attention to the technical condition of the vehicle.

First generation 2011-2015 release

The cars had power units running on gasoline and diesel fuel, and several modifications of gasoline were produced. From two-liter gasoline power units, it is possible to squeeze out 150, 155 and 165 horses. The motors were equipped with two types of gearboxes, one of them was robotic, and the second was manual.

Both types of boxes were with six steps. Wheel drive could be full or only front. The maximum speed for these models was limited to 200 km / h. Gasoline consumption Mazda CX 5 ranged from 6.1 to 6.7 liters with a run of 100 km.

A more powerful power gasoline unit had a working volume of 2500 cm3, while the developed power was 192 “horses”. The engine was completed only with automatic transmission. Wheel drive could be full or only on the front axle. The dynamics of the car has been improved, but fuel costs have increased.

Fuel consumption has increased to about 7.4 liters per hundred kilometers. Motors running on diesel fuel had a working volume of 2200 cm3. They could develop 150 or 175 hp. The type of transmission or drive had no restrictions, and diesel fuel consumed from 5.2 to 5.8 l / 100 km.

Restyling of the first generation in 2015

The year 2015 was marked by the fact that buyers saw a restyled Mazda CX 5 in which some design and other changes were made. Most of them concerned the vehicle configuration. So the base engines were 2.5 liters, which began to be equipped only with robotic gearboxes, and the wheel drive was only full. Diesel engines with a capacity of 175 horses also waited for the same changes.

The remaining options for power units remained the same. Feedback from the owners of such cars on fuel consumption shows that it has not changed much.

Second generation Mazda CX 5

The coming year 2017 was remembered for the appearance of the second generation Mazda CX 5. The company's designers did not leave the design of the car unchanged, as well as the power units and transmission. The buyer is offered a gasoline version of the power unit with a working volume of 2.0 or 2.5 liters. The first can develop a power of 155 horses, the second already produces 184 or 190 hp.

Mazda CX 5 with a two-liter engine is available only with front-wheel drive. For an engine of 184 horsepower, the drive is full, and for 190 horsepower, rotation is transmitted only to the front wheels.

Fuel consumption for 2.5 liter power units is in the range of 6.2-6.5 l / 100 km. Innovations also affected diesel engine options. Manufacturers left only one type of engine, one that can produce 175 horses.

The buyer could choose two types of drive, full or front. The box for all options was chosen robotic, which had six stages of gear selection. Such a power unit consumes approximately 5.1 liters of diesel fuel when overcoming 100 km.

Reviews of Mazda CX 5 owners

The car of this brand is considered a prestigious model, many owners of the Mazda CX 5 are satisfied with their purchase. The machine satisfies almost all the requirements of future owners. Among the many advantages of this model, very acceptable fuel consumption is most often noted.

You can also find a number of reviews about the large "appetite" of the vehicle, but according to experts, this is mainly due to the driving style of the car, problems with the technical condition of the car.

Mazda CX 5 2.0 150 2wd 4wd

  • Sergei from Voronezh. I bought a two-liter Mazda CX 5 in a car dealership. When choosing, the option of acquiring RAV 4 was considered, but after a detailed review, I settled on a Mazda. I had to use the car in a variety of conditions. Consumption in the city is not more than 8.7 l / 100 km, on the highway it does not exceed 6.4. In winter, it was necessary to burn up to 10 liters.
  • Dmitry from St. Petersburg. I own a two-liter Mazda CX 5 with a gun, I'm offended by the car's too much appetite when driving in the city. Sometimes it takes up to 15 liters, but on the track it drops to 7 liters, sometimes even less. It largely depends on the driving style of the car.

With 2.2l 175 hp diesel engine

  • Alexander from Tver. Prior to this, the car was driven by cars with gasoline engines. Decided to switch to diesel fuel, the choice stopped at the Mazda. The consumption of diesel fuel largely depends on the driving style of the car, as well as the quality of the purchased fuel. At high speeds, its consumption can be within 13 l / 10 km, in the city it does not exceed 8 liters.
  • Svetlana from Kemerovo. Bought the car just over a year ago. Somewhat disappointed with the soundproofing of the body. I service the car only at specialists, while problems are not found. As for fuel consumption, I can say that it is acceptable. In urban conditions, it is within 10 liters, and on the highway it drops to 10 l / 100 km.

With engine 2.5 petrol 192 hp

  • Nikolay from Moscow. I gravitate towards powerful engines, so I settled on a power unit of 150 horses. When traveling around the city with the air conditioner on in the summer, fuel consumption was about a little more than 10 liters per hundred kilometers. On the highway, if you do not press hard on the gas pedal, you will need no more than 7 l / 100 km.
  • Vasily from Tomsk. Bought a 2.5 liter SUV in 2015. For some reason, the consumption in the city can not be reduced less than 11 l / 100 km. In the summer, it is not very hot here, I don’t use air conditioning, and the consumption is high. On the tracks, it is in the range of 8-9 liters per hundred, in my opinion, this is actually an ideal real consumption. While I only consumables, no more problems.

Ways to reduce fuel consumption

Today, fuel at car filling stations, following the cost of oil, is becoming more expensive. Owners want to achieve lower fuel consumption, so it will be useful for them to be reminded of what leads to excessive fuel consumption during the operation of the machine:

  • technical condition of the vehicle;
  • driving style;
  • low technical condition of the power unit;
  • Tire pressure does not match the manufacturer's recommendations.

Keep an eye on the condition of the car as a whole, give up the aggressive driving style of the vehicle, use only high-quality fuel and the car will delight you for a long time.

A purposeful, active and successful person wants to always be on top in everything. The choice of car plays an important role here. When choosing a car, attention is still drawn to the fuel consumption of the Mazda CX 5 per 100 km. After all, in the future you will have to travel long distances and spend money on fuel.

Fuel consumption is the first sign that the car will be economical for the owner and will not have to pay money for unforeseen gas expenses. Mazda is a premium car. When it was released, manufacturers put forward many requirements for it, which it now meets. The Mazda crossover is designed for practical, smart and wealthy people.

To figure out what is the average consumption of gasoline on the CX V, you need to know the engine size, type and other characteristics of the car:

  • the Japanese automaker released in 2011 a family car - the Mazda CX 5, with a gasoline engine of 2.0 and 2.5 liters and a diesel engine of 2.0 AT;
  • the newest and most modern functions are invested in this car, both in the interior and in the technical part;
  • surprises the maximum acceleration of Mazda - 205 km / h;
  • fuel consumption Mazda CX 5 in the combined cycle is 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers. This is an ideal economical option for a premium car. Mazda developments belong to Japan, Russia and Malaysia.

It is possible to equip a five-door Mazda K1 class SUV with a gas installation, and this will further reduce fuel consumption by several times. This car meets environmental standards, because it has a 2 liter self-injection engine. It has up to 150 horsepower. A 6-speed gearbox is mounted, very convenient and practical. The heating dynamics of the engine reaches the desired pressure in a few seconds. If you are interested in the question of Mazda CX 5 fuel consumption, and you want to become a future Mazda owner, then the information below is for you.

Mazda fuel consumption

According to the owners, the Mazda CX 5 is an economical family crossover that we pass on almost all roads, in any weather conditions. The actual fuel consumption of the Mazda CX 5 on the highway is 5.5 liters. With such a unique acceleration in a few seconds, and with an economical engine, you can travel not only around the country, but safely go to neighboring countries.

The cost of gasoline Mazda CX 5 in the city is about 7.5 liters, but here you need to take into account many factors that affect greater fuel consumption, which we will talk about later. The combined cycle shows the average cost of gasoline, Mazda CX 5 fuel consumption rates per 100 km - 5.9 liters.

If such indicators suit you, and you understand that you just need such an SUV, then this car will make your trips easier. Make them comfortable for you and your passengers. You will be able to get anywhere in the city as quickly as possible with huge savings. The owner of Mazda, sitting behind the wheel, will immediately feel confident and comfortable. But in order for the average cost of your car not to increase in the future, you need to figure out what causes fuel consumption to increase and decrease, as well as what moments affect it.

What indicators affect the increase in fuel consumption

The consumption of gasoline in the Mazda CX 5 automatic is more gentle in comparison with previous models of cars of this brand. There are some problems that significantly increase the amount of fuel consumption:

  • failure in the engine operation system;
  • dirty fuel injectors;
  • driving maneuverability;
  • switching speed without taking into account the technical characteristics of the machine.

In urban areas, drivers are more adept at car repairs and trips to service stations. Thanks to such service stations, it is possible to see or prevent a failure in the engine system, which will significantly improve its performance, as well as reduce fuel consumption.

Only at service stations, it is possible to determine the condition of the fuel injectors, which play the most important role in gasoline consumption while driving.

If they are in poor condition, then they should immediately be replaced with new ones of the same brand. As for the maneuverability of the ride, the question here is an edge, because many drivers will say that this is a high-speed good SUV that you can drive at high speed.

This is true, but it is necessary to choose sparing modes and moments of switching speeds. So that the engine and its system have time to heat up and reconfigure for the necessary work.

How to reduce the amount of gasoline you use

Mazda itself is an economical version of a luxury car. In order for the CX 5 fuel consumption indicators to remain at the same marks, it is necessary to adhere to the following rules:

  • moderate, quiet ride;
  • regular visits to the maintenance service;
  • monitor the condition of the engine and its system;
  • every few years it is necessary for Mazda to undergo computer diagnostics;
  • change fuel filters in a timely manner.

The Mazda SUV is really designed for people who love speed. Speed should not be confused with constant changes in speed modes. That is, if you have chosen a speed of 300 km / h, then you need to drive like this for a long time. If the city is unfamiliar to you, and you do not know which turns, which road, then select a moderate driving mode.

Why do we need computer diagnostics

Many owners think that modern premium cars do not need computer diagnostics, they are deeply mistaken. Very often, a CD helps to establish what kind of fuel consumption a Mazda CX 5 has, thanks to the data that is obtained as a result of diagnostics.

Thanks to this method, it is possible to establish the cause of any breakdown of the machine, or to identify it initially, before it made itself felt. If you do not know how to determine the condition of the fuel injectors, which may have increased the volume of fuel consumption, then computer diagnostics will clearly give data on their condition.

Does a Mazda need a major overhaul?

Despite the fact that Mazda is a new generation car, it can also break down, fail or turn from a comfortable car into an uncomfortable noisy car. Timely repairs will help keep the car in good condition, and driving it will become a joy for you. If the increased fuel consumption suits you, it does not mean that this is the normal state of the crossover. Mazda CX 5 is the embodiment of dreams and desires of every driver. Therefore, in order for this car to serve you faithfully for a long time, stop by the service station more often to make sure that there are no problems with the engine.

Can fuel consumption change with car mileage

This question interests many. According to the reviews of Mazda owners, it is clear that fuel consumption changes with mileage, or rather increases. In this case, it is recommended to immediately send the car for computer diagnostics.

The modern Japanese crossover Mazda CX 5 is considered one of the most economical cars in its segment. The technical characteristics of the fuel indicate the nominal - that is, the amount of fuel that a car with this type of engine needs to drive 100 km in the city and on the highway, and also in the combined cycle - the average value.

CX 5 reflect actual fuel consumption, which may vary.

Official data l / 100 km

According to the manufacturer, the fuel consumption of the Mazda CX 5 increases depending on the configuration. The official fuel consumption per 100 km is from 5.7 to 9.7 liters.

In Russia, only versions with gasoline engines are offered. Most trim levels of the Mazda CX 5 are equipped with automatic transmission, only the basic one is “on the mechanics”. with the same engine differs slightly.

1 generation

CX 5 since 2012 city/highway/medium:

  • modification 2.0 AT, 150 hp, all-wheel drive - 8.2 / 5.9 / 6.7 l / 100km;
  • modification 2.5 AT, 192 hp, all-wheel drive - 9.3 / 6.1 / 7.3 l / 100km.

Gasoline consumption since 2015 city / highway / average:

  • modification 2.0 MT, 150 hp, front-wheel drive - 7.7 / 5.3 / 6.2 l / 100 km;
  • 0 AT, 150 hp, all-wheel drive - 8.2 / 5.9 / 6.7 l / 100km;
  • 5 AT, 192 hp, all-wheel drive - 9.3 / 6.1 / 7.3 l / 100km.

The cost of gasoline depends not only on the variant of the engine and transmission, but also on the driving style and season. The actual consumption of the Mazda CX 5 is shown by the trip computer.

2 generation

Fuel consumption from 2017 is shown in the tables.

Gasoline consumption has increased due to the increased weight of the car due to additional noise insulation measures. At the same time, it has a comparable consumption in relation to the version with a mechanical transmission.

The tables show the official fuel consumption per 100 km in liters for various trim levels.

Engine 2.0 150 HP Drive Active Supreme
2WD 6MT 2WD 6AT 4WD 6AT 4WD 6AT
Urban 8,7 8,8 8,9 8,2
Country 5,7 5,8 5,9 5,9
Mixed 6,8 6,9 7,0 6,7

The actual fuel consumption of the Mazda CX 5 is determined during operation according to the readings of the on-board computer or by the calculation method after refueling a full tank.

Owner reviews

What is the Mazda CX 5 fuel consumption? This question is addressed by buyers making a choice among crossovers. You can answer it based on the feedback from experienced owners of the CX 5:

  • Sergey, Novgorod: “I bought the Fifth Mazda in 2014 with a 2-liter gasoline engine and AT. I admit that speed qualities and gasoline consumption are at an excellent level. Who else can boast of acceleration in 15 seconds to 130 km / h and a consumption rate of 8.5 liters in the city. Not so long ago, I went through a difficult route of 1200 km through the cities and the average consumption was 12.6 liters per hundred.
  • Pavel, Sochi: “2.0AT 2015 configuration. The crossover stands out for its extremely low gas consumption and remains very dynamic. The cost is just ridiculous. In the city, with an average load, I spend about 9 liters. About 6.5 liters come out at high speed on the highway. In winter, taking into account warm-ups and traffic jams - 10.4 liters.
  • Sergey, St. Petersburg: “In 2015 I took the most powerful CX 5 for 2.5 liters. I think that in a city with a climate and traffic lights, 10 liters is a ridiculous figure for an SUV. On the highway, if you do not drown, it turns out about 7 liters.
  • Victoria, Yaroslavl: “CX 5 2013 with a 2 liter engine. In terms of consumption, everything is modest. In the city - less than "tens", on the highway - a little more than six liters.
  • Dmitry, Moscow: “Version automatic 2-liter 2012. I don’t know how anyone, I don’t get less than 15 liters in traffic jams. But on the highway in dynamics it consumes only 7 liters per 100 km.
  • Alexey, Voronezh: “I have a 2.5 liter Mazda CX 5 2015. In the city, my consumption does not fall below 10 liters. Of course, this is not much for a crossover. And I have an aggressive driving style.”
  • Elena, Moscow: “I bought my Mazda CX 5 at the end of 2015. Options 2.5 AT, all-wheel drive. Consumption in Moscow - 11 liters, on the highway - about 8 at a speed of 140 km / h.
  • Anton, Kaluga: “My wife and I bought the assembly year. Super economical and fast Japanese. Consumption, even in winter in the city is not higher than 12.6 liters. On the highway, consumption starts at 6.8 liters.
  • Eugene, Suzdal: “Before that, there was a Mazda CX 5 2-liter version, now a 2.5-liter car. Model 2016. Now, on the run-in, the consumption on the highway is 8.3 liters, in the city about 11 liters. For comparison, at 2.0 AT in Suzdal it was 10 liters, on the highway - 7.3.
  • Maxim, Sverdlovsk: “The car of 2015. Nothing bad to say about this Mazda CX 5. The engine is atmospheric, produces 150 "horses" and consumes up to 10 liters per 100 km.
  • Margarita, Novosibirsk: the unit and all-wheel drive consumes 10 liters of gasoline, the machine works flawlessly.
  • Vasily, Chelyabinsk: “I chose between Tiguan and CX 5. I chose Japanese technology and did not regret it. Consumption of 9 liters with front-wheel drive.
  • Anna, Tyumen: “The car was manufactured in 2014, used. A reliable 2-liter engine produces an honest 150 horsepower and consumes less than 11 liters, the drive is full.
  • Vladislav, Saratov: “I liked the car. This is the first all-wheel drive crossover. With a 2 liter engine and automatic transmission, it “eats” no more than 10 liters with my dynamic driving.”
  • Larisa, Taganrog: “A universal vehicle for families and adventures. The perfect combination of front-wheel drive transmission and two-liter engine. Gasoline consumption is about 10 liters.
  • Anatoly, Nikolaev: “The car is 2012, has covered 120,000 km. Four-wheel drive, automatic, 2 liter engine. On average, Mazda consumes 10 liters per hundred kilometers.
  • Alexander, Arkhangelsk: “An amazing fast and economical car for country trips. The CX 5 consumes a maximum of 10 liters with a 150 hp engine. It handles well thanks to all-wheel drive.”
  • Alexey, Nizhny Novgorod: “We have a Mazda CX 5 2013 with a mileage of 75,000 km. A 2-liter engine, even at minus 30, starts with a half turn. Fuel consumption 9-11 l / 100 km.
  • Andrey, Irkutsk: “A solid and dynamic car for daily use. I have a 2 liter engine and automatic transmission. The average city consumption is 10 liters of gasoline, and on the highway - less than 8 liters.
  • Inna, Yekaterinoslavl: “I am very pleased with the car. The 150 hp motor drives like an electric car. And the fuel economy pleases me, I never consume more than 10 liters.
  • Vladimir, Tomsk: “I have a Mazda CX 5 with a 2.0 engine, four-wheel drive and automatic transmission. "Five" consumes only 10 liters of gasoline.
  • Alexander, Tolyatti: “The car is reliable, but quite tough for our roads. Under the hood of my car is a 2.5-liter engine with 192 horsepower. Mileage 98 thousand km. Fuel consumption at the level of 12 liters on average.
  • Yuri, Ufa: “I have a 2012 version, I have driven 280 thousand kilometers in six years. Japanese technology is reliable. I drive calmly with a consumption of 12 liters.
  • Nadezhda, Vologda: “My car has a 2.5 engine. Fuel consumption reaches 12-13 liters per hundred.
  • Irina, Krasnoyarsk: “Mazda CX 5 is my first Japanese car. Better than the Germans in every way. The 2.5 liter engine consumes up to 14 liters per hundred.
  • Elena, Volgograd: “A car even on the highway, even around the city. Tandem engine-automatic works fine. Fuel consumption - from 10 to 13 liters.
  • Dmitry, Rostov-on-Don: “Buying a new Mazda CX 5 in 2014, I counted on a small expense. In general, expectations were justified. On country roads, the car travels with a consumption of 6.8-7.0 liters. In urban conditions, already 12.0-12.6 liters.

Among the owners, discussions about the CX 5 do not stop. The consumption of 10 l / 100 km remains a psychologically significant value. If the flow rate is less than 10 liters, this is considered a good result, and if it is higher, questions immediately arise.

Mazda cars of the CX 5 series can be equipped with both 2.0 and 2.5 liter gasoline engines, with a capacity of 150 and 192 hp. respectively, and a 2.2-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 150 and 175 horsepower, respectively.

Every car owner will agree that fuel consumption is quite an important parameter in choosing a car, so the Japanese manufacturing company, in a sense, relied on it.

According to the official data of the company, on average, all SUVs produced by it consume about 8 liters per 100 km. Does this correspond to reality?

Normative volumes of fuel consumption

Speaking about the standard volumes of gasoline or diesel fuel required per 100 km of run in different driving conditions (city, highway, combined cycle), the consumption is implied, the determination of which is carried out directly by the automaker empirically. For example, for a petrol version equipped with a SKYACTIV-G 2.0 engine, they look like this:

  • 8 liters per 100 kilometers in city mode;
  • 4.8 liters per 100 km - on the highway;
  • 6 liters per 100 km with mixed style (city-highway).

The SKYACTIV-D (diesel) engine is more “gluttonous”, since, according to regulatory data, it needs 5 and 8.5 liters of diesel oil, respectively, for 100 km along the highway and the city, and the mixed style assumes a consumption of 6.3 liters to a "hundred".

For SKYACTIV-G 2.0, the figures for the standard fuel volume may vary depending on the type of gearbox: manual or automatic, as well as the type of drive: front or all-wheel drive.

The most economical in this regard is the front-wheel drive Mazda CX 5, equipped with a 2-liter gasoline engine and a manual gearbox. For 100 kilometers on the highway, it needs about 5.2 liters of fuel, while in the city it will take 7.7 liters for the same mileage. With a mixed cycle, the consumption is 6.3 liters.

As for models with an automatic transmission, all-wheel drive “eat” more than front-wheel drive. If the last 100 km on the highway needs 5.9 liters of fuel, then the front-wheel drive CX 5 will travel the same distance in the same conditions, having spent 0.5 liters of gasoline less.

The situation is similar with the normative volumes of consumption in the combined cycle and urban conditions. The all-wheel drive model will consume 6.9 and 8.2 liters, respectively, while the front-wheel drive will cover the "hundred" in the city in 7.9 liters, and in the combined cycle - in 6.4 liters.

Regardless of the type of gearbox: manual or automatic, all Mazda cars obey the steering wheel well, and the declared consumption of gasoline / diesel fuel is quite accurate, the manufacturer assures.

If the actual volume of consumption exceeds the declared normative indicators, then this is a sure sign that some vehicle systems need to be adjusted or incorrectly selected fuels and lubricants are used.

Fuel system and engine CX 5, as a guarantee of vehicle efficiency

The efficiency of the CX 5 (diesel or gasoline) in terms of fuel consumption is the result of the modern technical characteristics originally laid down by the manufacturer.

Many motorists do not even realize that the reason for their private visits to gas stations is often precisely the wrong approach to choosing fuel and “consumables”. It does not matter which company to fill in gasoline, diesel or oil, the main thing is that they are of high quality and comply with the manufacturer's recommendations. Incorrect selection of "consumables" inevitably leads to excessive fuel consumption.

The basis of the efficiency of any car, and the CX 5 is no exception in this regard, is precisely the engine - the main power unit of the car. It includes a lot of various modern systems, such as an injector responsible for direct fuel injection, a hydraulic compensator, thanks to which the valve clearances are adjusted automatically, as well as the Dual S-VT system, whose “duties” include changing the valve timing.

The basic equipment of the Mazda CX 5 (gasoline or diesel) also includes:

  • traction control system TSC;
  • motion stabilization control system DCS;
  • system for stopping and restarting the engine in idle mode I - STOP;
  • regenerative braking system I - ELOOP.

This is not a complete list of equipment for engines created using SKYACTIV technology, which are installed on all SUVs of this Japanese brand without exception. It is thanks to her that fuel economy is ensured.

Since the design features of gasoline and diesel car engines are almost identical, there are no significant differences in the CX 5 power system.

The fuel-air mixture is dosed, and therefore the engine and fuel supply system need high-quality petroleum products. The use of the wrong fuels and lubricants is fraught with overspending even in the conditions of the least expensive mixed (highway-city) cycle.

High-quality diesel, however, as well as fuel for gasoline versions (AI-95 and AI-98), is a guarantee of fuel economy. Plus, only branded oil should be used. 5W-30 or 0W-20 will work just fine.

What causes excessive fuel consumption?

To determine how much a CX 5 diesel or gasoline engine consumes, you need to take readings from the on-board computer while driving on the highway at a speed of 80-110 km / h.

The result obtained after 100 km is an indicator of fuel consumption. If it is more than the manufacturer's design parameters, then there is an overrun.

In the absence of an on-board computer, which is quite rare, the calculation can be made based on the ratio of the distance and the spent contents of the fuel tank.

The cause of excessive fuel consumption (diesel or gasoline) may be:

  • active driving style, accompanied by frequent pressing of the gas pedal;
  • frequent low and high temperature fluctuations due to prevailing climatic conditions in the region;
  • imbalance of car systems.

It is a mistake to believe that the latter reason is typical only for cars with impressive mileage, since even a brand new Mazda needs a so-called fine-tuning.

If you have experience and knowledge in this area, you can set up all the systems yourself. Otherwise, it would be more expedient to resort to the help of car service specialists. Often the efficiency of the car increases in direct proportion to the increase in its mileage.

If an increase in fuel consumption (diesel or gasoline) occurs suddenly, and before that this problem was not relevant, it is likely that there is a need to repair the cylinder-piston group, or to adjust the wheel alignment. It will not be superfluous to measure the pressure in the tires.

Thus, in order for the CX 5 to consume exactly as much as stated by the manufacturer, it is necessary first of all to use high-quality diesel, gasoline and motor oil. It should be understood that sharp temperature fluctuations, combined with a dynamic driving style, do not have the best effect on the “appetite” of the car.
