Homemade press for apples and grapes. Original roofing and designer roofs: Press frukt. How to make your own press for squeezing juice from fruits, berries and vegetables or a homemade juicer with your own hands. Technologies and drawings of homemade presses

Today we will talk about how to make your own press for squeezing juice from fruits, berries and vegetables or homemade juicer with your own hands. We will also consider the technologies and drawings of homemade presses and juicers with with clear illustrations

Exist various designs presses for squeezing juice. Basic homemade designs- these are screw or using a jack. A good option when using an air jack or a rubber bladder and a compressor. There are options for using a centrifuge, for example an old washing machine. Presses or juicers should not crush seeds and ridges located in the pulp.

Depending on the expected volume of processing of raw materials into juice or wine, select the design of the juice extraction device you like. In any case, the cooking process is divided into two stages: 1. Preparation of pulp (grinding raw materials); 2. The actual extraction itself is the extraction of juice.

Screw Juice Press Designs

Typically a press consists of a pressing mechanism, a basket, a base and a pressing board. The basket serves as a receiver for the pulp and is installed on the base of the press. There is also a tray for draining juice. The bottom and side walls of the basket are lined with a whole piece of burlap without gaps. The ends of the fabric should hang over the edges of the basket. Then the pulp is loaded into the basket and covered with the ends of the burlap. A wooden circle is placed on top, onto which the press head is lowered.

Here is another example homemade press for juice. The press consists of two pipe stands with a diameter of 22 mm. A U-shaped profile bent from 3 mm steel is welded to the pipes on top. The height of the profile is chosen in such a way that a screw nut pressed into a steel sleeve can be freely placed inside. A clamp is welded to the bottom of each rack. Using these two clamps, the press is attached to the window sill. A head with a hole for the handle is welded to the screw on one side, and a stop is attached to the other, which compresses the raw material.

A leaky 3-4 liter enamel pan is suitable for collecting the squeezed juice (Fig. a). You need to drill a hole in the bottom and secure a fitting with a hose in it to collect the juice.
The basket is made from sheet of stainless steel 2 mm thick, bandage rings made of stainless wire with a diameter of 4 mm are welded to it at the top and bottom. The rings allow the basket to fit “evenly” inside the pan. The walls of the pan are perforated with a drill with a diameter of 3 mm (in random order).

The spacers that separate portions of raw materials loaded into the basket consist of two 2-mm stainless steel disks connected by spot welding. Holes are drilled into the disks using a drill with a diameter of 3 mm, and gaskets 4 mm thick are provided between the disks (the gaskets are also made of stainless steel). In general, all parts of the screw press are made of stainless steel; a tank from an old washing machine is quite suitable.

The work of squeezing juice occurs as follows. The body of the press is secured with clamps on the windowsill in the kitchen (you can also install the press on the table). The screw with the stop is unscrewed until it stops. A basket is placed in the pan, and a gasket is placed on the bottom of the latter and a napkin made of durable fabric is placed on it. Next, crushed raw materials (apples, fruits, herbs, berries) in an amount of 0.5...1 kg are placed on a napkin.

The napkin is folded into an envelope, the portion is covered with a drainage pad, on which another napkin is placed. There should be 3 such bags, and the top bag can rise 4...6 cm above the pan. Putting a gasket on the top bag, the pan is placed under the press screw. Yes, I completely forgot to mention the spacer (a circle of wood) that is placed under the basket (otherwise the pan may become unusable when the screw is tightened).

When creating pressure, the screw must be turned slowly and smoothly, monitoring the release of juice. Having finished squeezing the juice, unscrew the screw upward, transfer the pan to the table, and remove the pulp from the napkins. Depending on the type and quality of the raw material, in one cycle, using a homemade screw press for squeezing juice, it is possible to squeeze out 1.2...1.8 liters of juice, and in 1 hour - up to 12...15 liters.

Wedge press for squeezing fruit juice

It is necessary to arrange a wooden trestle on four legs B 1 m high. At the top these legs are connected by a thick (9-10 cm) board A, the width of which is 30 cm and the length is about 1 m. In the board we make a longitudinal slot D 10-12 cm wide and long 40 cm. Into this slot we insert two boards B (thickness 9-10 cm), hewn at the top and bottom. At the bottom, we tie both boards with an iron bracket or, even simpler, with a thick rope.

In order for the boards to hold and not fall into the slot, we pass iron pins or wooden bushings in their upper part. Then we make several wedges from hardwood different thicknesses- and the press is ready. It works like this: spreading the boards B apart, inserting a bag of strong canvas filled with pulp between them. Then, driving wedges into the slot, we squeeze the boards. This way we compress the pulp tightly. The juice flows down into a placed tub or pot.

Making a simple juicer using the lever principle

We take two birch boards, the length of the main board is 1 m, width - 300 mm, thickness - 100 mm. The second board, which serves as a lever, is 1.5 m long, 170 mm wide and 20 mm thick. In the main board we make grooves for juice drainage (Fig. a) 10-15 mm deep and 300 mm long. We strengthen this board obliquely either on separate racks or on a special table. We attach a second lever board to it using a hinge and a spacer board. We got a lever press. We put 4-5 apples or some other fruits in the opening, press the lever, and the juice flows down the grooves into the placed container.

Nowadays, self-taught craftsmen are increasingly asking the question: “How to make a grape press with your own hands?” Growing grapes in your own garden plot is as simple as that; the berry is easy to care for and grows quickly. Having built a press for it, it would be possible to store juice for the winter or cook your own Home wine.

A press with a twenty-liter basket is quite suitable for squeezing juice from overripe grapes for wine.

Option one.

What does the press consist of?

We will make a screw-type press and it will consist of:

Screw. It's good if he is rectangular shape, powerful and have a thread.

Basket. By the way, it can be made from parquet boards. Which then needs to be tightened with stainless steel hoops.
.
Advice:

And if suddenly your local market suddenly doesn’t have a strip of stainless metal of the thickness you need, in this case, grab some corners on the way home. After all, they can also be used to fasten parquet boards together.

The design of our press will be, so to speak, self-sufficient. That is, the finished press will be without stands, on legs. A nut will be attached to the top, and the screw rod will be screwed into it. There will be a basket in the frame itself; wort with pulp or grapes will be loaded into it

Let's make a basket.

We buy a couple of dozen parquet boards: length – 320 cm, width – 50 cm and 1.5 cm thick. We buy a metal strip, 1 mm thick. Many people buy metal corners made of stainless steel. In this case, you will need a couple of them, two meters each.
We remove the grooves from the boards using a cutter. Well, this operation can even be called useless if you have Dishwasher. Since in this case, with the help of its brush, everything is washed perfectly. But if there is no machine, so that the grooves do not become dirty, it is better to cut them off.
Now you will need stainless steel screws. We attach them to the corners, the gap is no more than 12 mm. Then, using a grinder, we cut a corner between the boards. We bend the edges. We make holes in them for the bolts.

An insert will be needed; its diameter corresponds to the diameter of the basket. The piston is placed on the grape pulp.

The height of the basket is 32 cm. The diameter inside is 29 cm. The estimated volume is 21 liters exactly.

So, let's continue the topic of how to make a grape press.

Now you need to buy:

Corners 25 mm;

Drills, diameter 6.2 mm;

Several M6 bolts;

Nuts to bolts.

Assembling the frame of the press.

Please note that it is necessary (!!!) to place boards under the screw, on top of the circle.

The screw can be ordered from a turner, or you can build it yourself if you have the appropriate skills.

Screw parameters: diameter – 30 mm, pitch – 3 mm, nut, disk with holes for fastening, welded.

More details:

A small piece of plywood as a stand for the press;

Plastic bowl. We make a hole in it, put a tube in the hole.

Of course, you can do everything using welding machine, but if there is none, and if there is no experience working with this device, then the question immediately arises of how to make a grape press without welding. This is where the idea came to mind, to make a press with bolts.

You can safely cook parts using inventory, right in your apartment on the balcony.

Design flaw.

Option two.

Step one.

In order to squeeze juice from grapes right at home, to make jelly, juice, wine and other things, you will need a press. We will now tell you how to make a grape press.

You need a roller crusher. You can also make it yourself, for example, from a loading ladle. The berries will be poured into this crusher. It's better to build it from wooden frame. To the frame we add a pair of rollers, also made of wood, and a handle for rotation. We secure all elements with bearings.

Step two.

We prepare all the details. We make a frame from bars: length - 70 cm, cross-section - 4 by 10 cm. Width of the frame - look at the length of the rollers, since the width completely depends on how long your rollers will be. The optimal size is 20 cm. When constructing the structure, make sure that the distance between the blocks is the same.

Step three.

For the press, the rolls must be made corrugated, 3 cm deep. The corrugation can be made screw, in this case, we direct the shift to the side by a couple of cm. Next, we attach the rolls to the frame with bearings. They will spin on different axes and at different speeds.

Step four.

If the diameter of the wool is the same, it is necessary to make the rollers have different diameters. What does this give? The speed of movement in a circle will be different. For such a press you need a wooden ladle into which the grapes will be loaded. Choose a pyramid shape.

Step five.

We place the bucket on the frame slats. Our slats should be transverse. The distance between the bucket and the roller is minimal, preferably no more than a centimeter. Ready. It's time to secure the crank for rotation. With its help, the grinding of raw materials and pressure of juice will be carried out.

Step six.

At the bottom of the structure we place a vessel to collect the juice.

We load the berries into a ladle, from there they fall onto the windrows. We rotate the handle, the berries are crushed and crushed until you get a puree.

Step seven.

We remove the berries from the bunch. Rinse thoroughly under running water. And only then load it into the press. And when the juice is ready, rinse the press with water and dry it with a soft towel or napkin. If you don't take care of it properly, the wood will simply begin to rot.

There are various juice press designs. The main homemade structures are screw or using a jack. A good option when using an air jack or a rubber bladder and a compressor. There are options for using a centrifuge, for example an old washing machine. Presses or juicers should not crush seeds and ridges located in the pulp. Finally, examples the simplest devices for squeezing juice not requiring description. For home winemakers - a guide to making homemade grape wine

After the summer struggle for the harvest, the autumn struggle with the harvest begins. A juice press is a device that can greatly simplify this task. Used as on summer cottages, and for industrial purposes. Has several configuration options. You can even create a simple device with your own hands. IN different regions In Russia it is most often used for collecting apples, grapes, carrots, and other vegetables and fruits.

How does a juice press work?

The device has a mechanical control type. Comprises:

  1. Baskets for loading vegetables or fruits. Depending on the model, it can be made of metal or wood.
  2. Press. It descends into the basket and squeezes its contents.
  3. A filter through which the squeezed product passes, leaving behind pulp, seeds, etc. It can be made of burlap and wooden grates.
  4. The pan where it leaks finished product. Made from different materials, right down to the plastic.

If the juice press is operated manually, it requires a lot of effort to extract the juice. Especially when it comes to vegetables, herbaceous plants or hard fruits (). Therefore, it is better not to consider it as a gift for a woman. Only if you need a small volume for kitchen use.

How the device works:

  1. Before starting work, the products from which it is planned to make juice are cut into small pieces (or crushed).
  2. Place them in a basket, distributing them evenly over the entire plane (some devices use a special filter bag).
  3. Gradually a press is lowered onto the basket, compressing the contents.
  4. The drink is cleaned by passing through filters and ending up in the tray.

This principle is called the cold pressing method.

The press does not heat the products, thereby preserving everything useful material, which were laid down by nature.

Advantages and disadvantages

What are the advantages of this type of food processing:

  • all vitamins and minerals are preserved;
  • the minimum amount of waste is only 5%;
  • does not make noise when used;
  • simple design, easy to repair if broken;
  • long-term operation without wasting resources;
  • is inexpensive;
  • can be easily transported from place to place.

Minuses:

  • if the volume of products is large, then spinning will require a lot of effort and time;
  • you have to pre-process vegetables and fruits (for small models, in addition to cutting, you also need to peel the fruits and remove the seeds);
  • You can’t get a lot of juice from one serving of the product.

Before choosing, you need to decide on the criteria by which you need to evaluate the device.

Types of control of juice presses

Manual presses require direct human participation in the spinning process. Automatic devices take effect after pressing the button. The latter include hydraulic or pneumatic presses. Their purpose is to process a large volume of products; they are most often used on farms where food is collected. big harvest or in production workshops.

For an ordinary summer cottage, an automatic juice press is not suitable, since there is no large volume and the cost of the device is above average (about 500,000 rubles).

Types of presses

They differ in the type of mechanism and the nuances of device assembly. Mechanically controlled presses have a small production volume, up to 30 liters per hour. The units are simple, you can make them yourself. Well suited for use at home and in the country. The main structural element is a steel frame. It holds the device in place during use.

Manual screw press

This device is the simplest and very convenient. A screw press for squeezing juice has a simple design: it is driven by a screw. Under its influence, the piston lowers. Such units are inexpensive. The only negative is that they sometimes require considerable physical strength.

Models calculated hand press about 2.5 liters of vegetables or fruits.

Juice jack press

It is easier to control than a screw. Fix the device on the floor and set it in motion using a jack. Physically, this is much simpler than tightening a screw. It can be used in the country, right on the street. A jacking press costs approximately 15,000 rubles and can produce up to 3 liters of juice per full load.

Pneumatic press

Works in automatic mode. It is set in motion by the action of compressed air, which is created by a compressor. It is advisable to use it on large farms, farms or on several plots. Capable of processing large quantities of vegetables and fruits. Its price is approximately 80-90000.

The pneumatic press produces up to 14 liters of finished juice in 1 cycle.

Hydraulic

Looks like a metal basket with holes. Inside there is a rubber bag into which water is supplied under pressure. The bag fills and presses on the raw materials that are in the basket. The juice flows through the holes into the lower reservoir.

There are mechanical, automatic and electric models. The device is set in motion by fluid pressure on the piston. And it is created using controls.

There are two types of hydraulic juice presses:

Due to the complex design of the hydraulic press, its price is higher than average. In private households it is used less often than screw.

Belt press for juice extraction

Used in factory production. Fully automatic, performs all functions independently. The machine is powered by electricity and produces directly pressed juice.

Combined

Here the screw and jack are tried on together. Initially, the juice is produced using a screw mechanism. Afterwards, the remains are pressed down with a jack. Effective on garden plots small in size, convenient and easy to use.

Differences by type of raw material

In most cases, juice presses are universal. You can squeeze any fruits and vegetables in them. Some models involve the creation of oil.

The special press is only suitable for certain type raw materials. For example, it is used only for citrus fruits or berries. It is not recommended for use on hard products.

Before loading raw materials into a press of any type, it must be crushed. Otherwise, the device is in danger of breaking. A crusher is used for these purposes.

How to choose a juice press

For home, to small company, a press with a volume of 3-5 liters is enough. There are special small devices with which you can prepare 1-2 glasses of juice. For a summer residence, when you need to roll up several cans of juice, use a screw or hydraulic press with a volume of 10-12 liters.

If available big garden, wine is produced or a press is used for apples on a large farm, you need to take a volume of up to 30 liters. Automatic or semi-automatic control. Small industrial production will require the ability to squeeze up to 200 liters of juice per hour. A pneumatic juice press or an electric belt press is ideal here.

The harder the raw material, the more powerful the unit will be required. A screw press can be used to juice apples and grapes, but processing will take a long time. A hydraulic apparatus will produce more juice than a screw one.

Used to chop fruits and vegetables special devices– shredders. Any press can process whole fruits and vegetables, but the quality will be much worse, so this is not recommended.

DIY juice press - video

Processing the harvest of berries and fruits is one of the most important tasks that not only farmers, but also owners have to solve personal plots. TO technical devices, which greatly facilitate this process, is a juice press, which allows you to quickly and without significant physical effort turn fruits and berries into tasty juice rich in vitamins. There is a wide variety of such devices on the modern market, but those home craftsmen who want to save money on purchasing them can easily make such a press with their own hands.

Operating principle and types

All presses for squeezing juice from various berries and fruits can be divided into four main types:

  • mechanical devices;
  • hydraulic presses;
  • electrohydraulic models;
  • pneumatic type devices.

The most common due to its low cost and simplicity of design is a mechanical press. manual type. One of the main elements of its design is a perforated basket, into which crushed fruits (pulp) or berries are placed to extract juice. Fruits and berries are squeezed in such a device using a piston, the lowering of which (and the creation of the required pressure) is carried out by rotating the handle that drives the screw mechanism of the press. The juice formed during the pressure of the piston flows through the holes in the basket into a special tray, from where it is then poured into another container.

To make a basket into which the raw materials for squeezing the juice are loaded, stainless steel sheets or hardwood (for example, beech) can be used. In the second case, the design of such a basket is a drainage grid consisting of two equal parts, connected to each other by metal hoops.

Modernized and, accordingly, more efficient version hand-held device is a hydraulic press that can be used to extract juice from apples and berries. Instead of a perforated container, the design of such a press uses several drainage frames made of hard wood. The crushed raw materials from which it is necessary to obtain juice are placed in fabric bags and placed between such frames, on which significant pressure (1–5 tons) is applied from above, created by a manual hydraulic jack. Using such a squeezing mechanism, you can get up to 70% juice from total mass processed harvest.

A hydraulic press does not necessarily involve the use of a jack as a mechanism that creates the required pressure. Thus, in one of the designs of such presses, this mechanism uses an elastic barrel-membrane, which expands under the influence of water supplied to it under a pressure of 1.5–2 atm from a regular water supply network. Expanding, such a press membrane acts on fruits and berries placed in a perforated basket, squeezing out juice from them, which flows through holes in the walls of the basket into a storage tray.

A pneumatic press for squeezing juice also works according to the principle described above. The only difference is that the expansion of the membrane barrel, also present in its design, occurs not under the influence of the water filling it, but under the pressure of compressed air supplied from the compressor.

Since certain types of raw materials from which juice must be extracted are loaded into presses in crushed form, it is necessary to mention devices that help bring it into this state. The design of the simplest grinder is a steel drum, the walls of which are made in the form of a grater. Such a drum, which turns the raw materials loaded into it into fine crumbs, is placed in a casing with a loading neck. This simple and effective mechanism is activated by rotating a special handle. There are also more efficient and productive models of such units that are driven by an electric motor.

If we talk about the productivity of mechanical presses for squeezing juice, it is quite small and can be in the range of 10–30 l/hour. However, this performance is quite sufficient for devices used for domestic purposes.

In order to increase the percentage of juice yield from squeezed fruits and berries, as well as improve its quality, two methods are used:

  • raw materials are loaded into presses in fabric bags that act as filters;
  • The juice is squeezed out using drainage grates made of wood or using stainless steel “pancakes”.

The use of drainage grates or “pancakes” ensures that juice is squeezed not only from the upper and lower parts, but also from the middle part of the compressed volume. The bags, as mentioned above, act as filters and allow you to immediately clear the pulp from the squeezed juice.

In cases where the productivity of a hand press for obtaining juice is not enough, electrically driven devices are used. An electric drive can be seen in a screw press for squeezing juice and in screw-type units that operate on the principle of a conventional meat grinder. In the first case, the press drive is a pair of “electric motor – hydraulic jack”.

In screw presses, which are structurally reminiscent of a conventional meat grinder, the drive electric motor is directly connected to the working element - the screw. This press is used for squeezing grapes; it is also an excellent press for fruits, berries and squeezing juice from tomatoes. It works according to the following principle: the loaded raw material is crushed by means of a screw and pressed through a sieve that has a conical shape. This form of the sieve allows not only high-quality extraction of juice, but also the removal of seeds. It should be borne in mind that grape or any other juice obtained from such a press has a large amount of pulp.

Prices for serial models of juice presses depend on several factors:

  • loading basket volume;
  • device type;
  • material of manufacture;
  • press productivity in terms of juice obtained per unit of time.

Naturally, the cheapest option is a small-capacity home press operating on a screw principle. The cost of a hydraulic juicer is slightly higher. Next in the price category is a press juicer for processing apples and other raw materials, operating using compressed air. The most expensive ones on the market today are membrane-type hydraulic presses.

DIY juice presses

It is quite possible to make a juice press with your own hands, the main thing is to find operating diagrams and drawings of such homemade products, which will not be difficult. Many of those home craftsmen who already have experience in making such equipment are happy to share photos of their devices and even videos showing the process of their manufacture and the principle of operation in detail.

Most often they try to make screw-type presses with their own hands. Meanwhile, it should be borne in mind that it will not be possible to make a powerful screw for such a device without the involvement of a qualified turner. It can be made without third-party specialists if you replace the screw mechanism with a conventional jack (mechanical or hydraulic), which is in the arsenal of every car enthusiast.

Main load-bearing element a press for squeezing juice made by yourself is a frame. Its strength should be given Special attention. To make a frame into which the jack will rest and create the required pressure, you can use a square metal pipe with a cross section of 40x40 and a wall thickness of at least 3 mm. When calculating the height of the frame of your homemade press, you should take into account the total thickness of the drainage grids, pads and bags of raw materials, as well as the height of the jack. The width of the frame can be chosen arbitrarily - the main thing is that a storage tray for collecting the squeezed juice is placed in the opening created.

When creating a press for apples or grapes with your own hands, you should pay special attention to its stability. For effective solution For this task, three pieces can be welded to the bottom of the frame square pipe, which will serve as legs and ensure the stability of the unit. On top part legs, a stand made of boards or wood board on which the pallet will be placed.

Drainage grates, complete with which your apple, grape or any other press will work, should be made only from hardwood (oak or beech). The thickness of the planks from which such gratings will be made must be at least 20 mm.

The press basket is made of oak planks (you can buy parquet planks), tightened with corners with small gaps and secured with stainless steel screws.

The bags in which apple pulp or other raw materials for squeezing juice will be placed can be made from various fabrics (the main thing is that such fabric is highly durable and the bags that are sewn from it do not tear under the influence of high pressure created by the jack). As such fabrics, in particular, you can use ordinary burlap, jute, cotton and linen fabrics, chintz and synthetic materials.

If you do not have a juicer on your farm, and every year at your dacha there is a large harvest of apples from which you need to make juice, then you need a mechanical press. Similar situation also occurs among wine lovers who do not want to manually crush juicy berries or trample them. Home craftsmen suggest making a press with your own hands for processing fruits. In this article we will look at how to make an apple press with your own hands.

Types and principles of operation of juice presses

Devices that are designed for juice production are divided into several types:

  • mechanical devices;
  • hydraulic units;
  • electrohydraulic devices;
  • pneumatic mechanisms.

Mechanical

The most common option is a mechanical screw press. At first glance, you can understand the principle of operation of such a unit. Grapes, crushed fruits or berries are poured into the device’s container, which has holes. After this, by rotating the handle, a screw is activated, which lowers the flat piston. In this way, the juice is squeezed out and flows through the holes located in the casing into a tray, after which it enters prepared jars or other containers.

Important! To produce the casing, stainless steel is used or solid beech wood is used, from which drainage option grates. The product consists of two halves, which are connected to each other by metal hoops.

Hydraulic

A modernized version of the mechanical unit is a manual hydraulic press for processing apples and grapes. It does not have a perforated container for separating juice. Instead, several drainage frames made of wood are used, between which bags with crushed raw materials are placed.

The manual version of the hydraulic jack is capable of developing a large force, corresponding to from 1 to 5 tons, due to which 70% of the juice of the volume of the initially placed fruit is obtained.

Important! Hydraulic Press Grifon (Griffin) has in an original way refuse. It does not have a hydraulic jack. The developers have introduced a powerful “barrel” membrane. Pressure tap water at 1.5-2 atm. expands the membrane, due to which the juice is squeezed out through the wall of the casing, which is perforated.

Pneumatic

A pneumatic press operates on exactly the same principle. The fruit squeezing membrane is filling compressed air from the compressor, not water.

Important! All juice presses operate in combination with grinders. The most simple mechanism is a steel drum-grater, which is placed in a casing having a loading neck. When the handle rotates, the chopper operates, during which the fruit turns into very fine crumbs-pulp.

Electrohydraulic

A more advanced option is an electric drive mechanism. This device characterized by a minimum of physical effort and maximum productivity.

Which press should you choose?

Mechanical presses have a small productivity, which corresponds to 10-30 liters per hour. For processing berries, fruits and grapes grown in summer cottages, such equipment is quite sufficient, so you can easily make such a press for squeezing juice with your own hands.

To increase the quantity of juice produced and its quality, you can use two methods:

  • use of container bags for crushed fruits;
  • use of wooden drainage grates or stainless steel “pancakes”.

Important! Both options help improve the drainage of juice from the middle of the volume, which is compressed. The lack of drainage leads to the fact that the middle part of the crushed fruit is squeezed out much worse compared to the upper and lower layers. An additional positive aspect of using bags is the ability to free the juice from the pulp.

At large quantities berries or fruits that need to be processed use an electric drive. In this case, two types of equipment are used:

  • traditional screw device, which is driven by an “electric motor-hydraulic jack” combination;
  • a screw press that operates on the principle of a meat grinder.

A screw press juicer with an electric motor connected to it is used as a processing device for processing grapes, berries and tomatoes. The screw unit forces the crushed raw materials through a sieve, resulting in the formation of juice with a large amount of pulp at the output.

Simple DIY grape press

Screw press for grape processing includes:

  • base, the so-called frame;
  • basket;
  • a pressing device, the so-called jack or screw;
  • pressing piston.

Important! There are other options for making the mechanism. During the manufacturing process of the device, you can use either pre-prepared sketches of the press or prepare your own drawings.

Materials and tools for making a press:

  • Bulgarian;
  • welding machine;
  • tank 50 liters;
  • drill;
  • tap;
  • metal channel with dimensions 10-12 mm - 150 mm;
  • jack;
  • metal corner having a size of 40-50 mm - 3200 mm;
  • oak slats 40x25x400 mm in the amount of 50 pieces;
  • a piece of fabric about one meter;
  • fishing line 2 mm about 3 m.

Let's look at the process of making an apple press with your own hands.

Frame

The base is one of important elements a device that must have strength properties and be of a strong structure, since during operation the entire main load falls on the frame:

  • For the side parts of the press we use metal corners with a height of 85 mm.
  • The upper and lower parts of the base are made of a metal channel, which has a length of about 70 cm.

For strength, you can use additional reinforcement of the structure by welding gussets between the corners and the channel, while welding all the joints together.

Important! If a screw press design is used, we weld a nut for the screw to the upper channel. In addition to the metal frame, you can also use wooden boards with a thickness of more than 5 cm. We secure the boards with 10-12 mm studs and tighten them with nuts. Wooden device It is much easier to manufacture than a metal unit, but a wooden structure is not able to withstand heavy loads. This press is quite suitable for small quantities of raw materials. After manufacturing, the frame should be sanded and then painted with a special metal paint.

Press tank:

  • For this design we use a cooking tank made of stainless steel with a volume of up to 50 liters.
  • We drill a hole in the bottom of the container and install a stainless steel tap.

Important! If there is no tank, an ordinary saucepan of a suitable size is quite suitable.

  • We insert a grate made of oak slats into the boiler container.
  • For blanks we use oak or parquet board, the height of which corresponds to the height of the pan.
  • At the ends of the slats along the edges we drill holes with a size of 2-3 mm, through which we stretch stainless wire or fishing line.
  • By connecting all the planks together we get a structure that resembles a basket.

Important! During the manufacturing process, it is necessary to ensure that there is a gap of 2-3 mm between the slats, through which the juice from the prepared fruit will pass.

The design can be made without a pan:

  • To do this, we connect the boards with galvanized steel boards and place the basket on a tray, which serves to drain the squeezed liquid.
  • Also, as a tray in a juice press with your own hands, you can use a plastic tray for a large flower pot or kitchen sink made of stainless steel.
  • There is a design option in which the grape press is made like a frame without a basket. Between the drainage grids, the pulp from the used fruit is laid out in several layers of fabric and pressed until juice is formed.

Piston:

  1. Use a compass to draw a circle required diameter and cut it out electric jigsaw remaining oak boards folded crosswise.
  2. We twist the slats with stainless self-tapping screws or tie them together with stainless copper wire.

Important! You can also use a log, sawing off a circle of the required diameter and height.

Power mechanism

The apple processing press uses a screw or jack as a pressing mechanism.

Important! This design can also use a hydraulic car jack with a lifting capacity of 3 tons. For a better process, jacks are used that are capable of creating a force corresponding to 3 tons.

Every car enthusiast has a jack in his household, but a screw for a press is not so easy to find. It is necessary to cut planks for the jack, which will be used during the juice extraction procedure.

Filter cloth

To filter juice from apple fruits, you need to use a durable cloth that can allow moisture to pass through. The most simple option is the use of a nylon sugar bag.

Important! For the filtration process, you can also use the following durable materials that can withstand heavy loads and not tear under pressure:

  • lavsan;
  • nylon;
  • propylene;
  • thick linen;
  • Durable cotton material.

Using a homemade press

A manual press for processing fruits with your own hands is ready for use, now let’s look at how the process of squeezing juice from prepared fruits occurs:

  • We insert the basket into the tank and place the appropriate filter material inside.

Important! Soft berries, fruits and citrus fruits do not need pre-treatment before the crushing procedure. Carrots, apples or other hard fruits require crushing in a crusher or using pulp from a juicer, after which they are loaded into a basket and covered with a lid.

  • We install the jack.
  • We substitute the receiving container.
  • Open the tap.
  • We begin to press slowly.

Important! There is no need to use force or try to squeeze out all the juice at once, as the filter fabric may tear or the frame may be damaged. You need to make 2-3 pumps, wait for a while, then do 2-3 pumps again, and slowly squeeze out the juice.

If you use one bucket of apple pulp from a juicer, the result will be about 3-4 liters of pure juice; if you use crushed mass, you will get a slightly larger yield of the finished product.

Steel wine press

In order to make such a seemingly simple mechanism, you must have the skills of turning and plumbing and have a welding machine.

How to make a steel grape press with your own hands:

  • From an unnecessary washing unit from a stainless steel tank, we independently cut out two versions of cylindrical containers without a bottom, having a diameter of 23 cm and 29 cm. The height of the blanks corresponds to 24 cm.
  • In the smaller cylinder we drill holes with a diameter of 8 mm in a checkerboard pattern.

Important! The inner container - a basket - is used to load grapes, and the outer one is used for juice.

  • Under the cylinders we place a rectangular stainless steel tray with dimensions of 30x50 cm, which has sides and a triangular bevel in the narrow part of the product.
  • We make a cutout in the outer cylinder to drain the juice.
  • A flange with a diameter of 21 cm plays the role of a punch, which is attached in a rigid form to the lower section of the rod with a rectangular or trapezoidal thread. For this purpose, you can use a screw from a water valve. At the top we weld a head to the flange, which has a hole for the lever, thanks to which the thrust mechanism will function.

Important! To reduce the pressure on the sides of the press, it is recommended to perforate the thrust flange with a 4 mm drill.

  • The nut, which is welded into the U-shaped frame, works together with the screw. The frame must be rigidly connected to the base; to do this, use screws to attach it to the table or concrete it into the floor.

Important! In order for the basket to be located in the central location of the outer container, bandage rings must be welded at the top and bottom of the basket.

Let's consider the process of functioning of a press for processing grapes made by yourself:

  1. Place grapes in the inner pan.
  2. Use the lever to tighten the screw.
  3. When the squeezing process begins, rotate the screw more slowly, while controlling the juice output.
  4. We unscrew the screw in the opposite direction when the grapes have finished squeezing.

The manufactured structure can be used not only for processing grapes, but also for obtaining juice from apples and other fruits.

Important! To obtain maximum amount juice, the prepared raw materials must be crushed into crumbs or ground into a meat grinder. We wrap the prepared pulp in napkins made of durable material, the portions should not exceed 2 kg, the number of layers should be about three. They must be separated by drainage pads made of perforated stainless steel discs, which are welded in pairs and have a thickness of 2 mm. Between them there are thrust rings having a thickness of 4 mm.

Wooden apple press

The previous model is a reliable option, but it has some disadvantages. Thus, thin stainless material undergoes a very difficult welding process. In addition, special equipment and electrodes are required. You can simplify this design option by making your own basket from boards, and parquet boards may also be suitable.

In order to make a working mechanism with a capacity of 20 liters, you need to prepare 20 boards with dimensions 320x50x15 mm.

How to make a fruit press with your own hands from wood:

  • Using self-tapping screws, the boards are attached to two stainless steel strips of 0.5-1 mm. The distance between the boards should be 10-12 mm.
  • Then the strips are bent and their ends are connected with stainless bolts. The resulting basket measures 29 cm in diameter and 32 cm in height.
  • A wooden circle with a diameter of 27 cm serves as a punch.

Important! If you place planks under the screw, then it is not at all necessary to use a thrust flange.

  • At the bottom of the basket, along the entire contour, a drain gutter is laid out for the juice to exit.

Important! As a tray, you can use an ordinary plastic bowl, in which a hole is drilled into which a tube is inserted.

  • Apples are cut into small pieces, wrapped in gauze and placed in a basket. During the working cycle, about 3.5-4 liters of juice are produced.

Important! In order to increase the pressure of the press when the press is lowered, boards are laid between the layers.

  1. To make a homemade juicer, you can use a car jack instead of a screw, then you don’t need to look for a nut. But in this case it will be necessary to provide robust construction the base against which the device intended for lifting the car rests.
  2. The wooden frame press can operate without the use of a basket. Drainage grids and a screw with a nut are metal elements in this press that are placed between packages with raw materials. In this case, the manufactured tray must have high sides to prevent juice from grapes and other berries from splashing on all sides.
  3. To reuse the bag wipes, rinse them thoroughly in water. If there was a long break between processing processes, the napkins need to be boiled.
  4. Berries and pulp should only be wrapped in a damp cloth to prevent the appearance of an unpleasant odor.
  5. The resulting pulp from pears and apples is thrown away; they do not have any special value. You can make fruit drinks and jelly from berry pomace.
  6. After preparing the grape juice, the wooden basket must be thoroughly washed with an ordinary dishwashing brush, and then scalded with boiling water.
  7. Now you have several options and schemes to make a press for apples, grapes and other berries and fruits with your own hands. Choose the system for which you have everything you need necessary materials, skills, then no difficulties will arise, and you will be able to process your harvest with ease.
