Children's bunk bed made of timber. Bunk bed: options for children and adults made of wood and metal, diagrams, manufacturing. Materials for making a bunk crib

Is there not enough space in the children's room for separate cots? Assemble a wooden nursery bunk bed with your own hands. We have prepared design options for you, accompanied them with diagrams and drawings, and will show you the algorithm for making such a bed with your own hands, illustrating with photo and video materials.

A bunk bed for children or teenagers can also be made from metal, but not everyone will have a neat welded structure, and appearance Such sleeping places are not too childish. Therefore, we will consider making beds from wood and lumber, since these are inexpensive and easy-to-work materials, warm, beautiful and homely.

Bed frame materials

Scroll wood materials, from which you can make a bed, is quite long. Let's highlight the most common ones.

1. Array. Expensive material and quite difficult to prepare and manufacture if you do not have experience working with it. Experience is important here. Although products made from solid wood are the most beautiful and durable, they still don’t use a children’s bed for very long - children grow up and begin to need other sleeping places.

2. Lumber - edged or planed boards, timber - the most common and easy-to-work materials, provided that you are confident in proper drying, otherwise load-bearing structure can "lead".

3. MDF - fibreboard. The formaldehyde emission of the material is at the same level as that of ordinary wood. When drilling, it generates dust without forming chips. Laminated MDF looks very attractive. An uncoated slab requires additional finishing, such as varnishing. You can order individual elements of the bed from a furniture shop or sawing shop: everything will be carefully cut out and the edges will be glued on.

4. Chipboard - particle board. Formaldehyde emissions are increased without a sealed coating, excluding class E1 slabs. Easy to saw, but does not hold screws well. Suitable for unloaded parts, such as drawers mounted under the bottom of the bed. Backrests can be made from laminated chipboard (laminated chipboard), decorative panels— the film coating prevents formaldehyde from evaporating, but it is important that the ends of the slabs are covered with film.

5. Furniture board - a board glued together from individual blocks of natural wood. Beautiful, durable, even allows you to carve, but requires skill in operation, as it has internal stresses that must be taken into account.

When purchasing fittings, you should give preference to steel hardware. Aluminum ones are much less durable and rigid.

Methods for connecting wooden knots

When making a bed you may need various connections horizontally, vertically, forming corners. This can be done different ways. We present some of them for your reference.

1 - half-tree connection; 2 - “claw” connection

1 - complete cutting; 2—cutting is not complete; 3 - steel corner

1 - connection with rectangular keys; 2 - connection with keys " dovetail"; 3 - connection to the main tenon

Design options (drawings and decor)

Bunk beds can have different designs and be decorated in a variety of ways. So, the upper tier can be located exactly above the lower one, offset, leaving space for a cabinet, or perpendicular to it. The staircase may consist of drawers. Another option is steps, which are hinged lids on drawers. The bed frame can also be supplemented with drawers located under the lower mattress. To do this you will need guides - runners. Sometimes something else is added to the bed: a table, shelves, a pencil case or sports equipment.

Below are drawings of some beds with basic dimensions.

And now a few design ideas that can inspire you to create an original bunk bed. Please note how some models use absolutely “waste” materials - slabs, branches, trunks, driftwood.

Method for making a bunk bed

Some of the most inexpensive materials are pine boards and timber. It is from these that we will make a two-story bed.

Material calculation

When making a bed, you need to keep in mind that not only a child can sit on the lower bed, so the distance to the bottom of the upper bed should not be less than 85 cm. The size of sleeping places in the case of purchased mattresses is determined by their width and length. If you make your own mattresses from two layers of foam rubber in a thick fabric cover, then the dimensions are taken based on personal preferences.

The figure below shows the individual elements of the bed, and the table shows the purpose, dimensions and number of pieces.

1 — vertical racks(legs); 2 — external linings for the racks; 3 - boards of the supporting frame; 4 - upper and lower headboard strips; 5 — central headboard bar; 6 — side guards; 7 — staircase railing; 8 - steps of the stairs

Assembly units

A bed is furniture consisting of several assembly units, which are then assembled into a single whole. Identical parts can be cut by holding them together with a vice or clamp, so they will turn out absolutely identical. Before assembly, you need to make sure that everything wooden parts cleaned, smooth and free of burrs. It is better to work with a special wood sander or grinder.

1. Headboard and footboard

These are two almost mirror-like elements. The difference is that the fence rails are built into the footboard as shown in the pictures below.

Installation order: 1 - dowel 8 mm; 2 - the stand and backrest slats are drilled simultaneously; 3 - this part is attached after assembling all other parts of the headboard

2. Elements of the supporting frame

To assemble two supporting frames, you will need four prepared boards - the longitudinal components of the frame. To ensure the reliability of the structure, the longitudinal strip must be glued to the board and additionally screwed with screws to the middle of the thickness of the board. Between the bars glued to the longitudinal support strip of the mattress, transverse slats will be laid - the base for the mattress.

3. Details of stairs and railings

The railing of the fence is simply a processed board, the railing of the stairs is a board with a cut for mounting on the frame. Places for fastening the steps must be marked in advance, and make sure that the screws for fixing them do not fall on the frame screws.

1 — cutouts 38 mm; 2 — places of fastening of steps; 3 — stair steps, 3 pcs.; 4 - fence

4. Frame assembly

The footboard and headboard are connected at the bottom to the boards of the supporting frame using screws. After this, the transverse slats and mattress holders are laid, and the outermost ones are filed in the corners for tight installation. There is no need to secure them. The second tier is assembled in the same way.

5. Assembling stairs and railings

The stairs and railing are simply fixed to the frame with screws. If desired, the fence can be made on the side of the wall - for the lower and upper beds. Then you will need four more planks.

Now the wood can be painted and varnished, mattresses can be laid - and the bed is ready!

The main space in the room is occupied by beds, and when the children were small, there was no shortage of free space. As children grow older, they need larger beds. If there are two children in a family, then current solution are bunk beds, but they are expensive. Or you can make bunk beds with your own hands - this is a fascinating and useful process.

Types of bunk beds

Nowadays the furniture industry offers a lot of the most different models bunk beds. Based on these designs, it is possible to make your own version, ideally suited to the specific conditions and specifics of the room. The bed will be equipped comfortable stairs. In addition to traditional solutions, you can also build a loft bed, which is popular today.

If you consider several options, then choosing the right model for a specific children's room will be much more convenient. Therefore, we will consider the most popular models.

Traditional model

This children's bed represents the most simple design of all that exist. Almost anyone with minimal woodworking skills can do it. This model and others like it are good because they have a very small number of components.

The advantage of these models is that natural wood is used as materials - this is very important for children and their health. A wooden bed is environmentally friendly.

Bed with sofa

This model features folding sofa on the first tier. This saves more room space than a traditional 2-tier design. If there is an ordinary bed on the lower tier, it will not be very comfortable to sit on it - there is no comfortable backrest. Therefore, in addition to the bed in the nursery, you will have to find a place for a sofa or armchairs - this will take up enough space.

Bed with drawers

This is also one of the popular options modern beds. This model is intended for three children - there are three sleeping places, and the design also includes drawers, as well as shelves. This two-level “monster” will take up a little more space, but it has cabinets and drawers - the child will put toys and his things in them. The design of a bunk bed of this type provides that the drawers will serve as a ladder - this is both compact and ergonomic.

Double bed on the first tier

This bed is not for children, but it can also be successfully used in small apartments. So, the solution is relevant if the apartment is 2-room and one of the rooms is allocated as a living room. On the first floor of this bed there is a sleeping place for two adults, the second is a children's sleeping place.

Bed for a large family

This 2-tier complex is designed for families with four or more children. A children's bunk bed of this level is much more complex and its construction will require significantly more materials, but due to this solution the room will be very spacious, and the sleeping places will be neatly placed along the walls of the room.

Loft bed

You can make your own loft bed. These beds are very popular among space savers. This children's bunk bed is also installed for adult children. This solution is often chosen by adults in one-room apartments. The main difference of this model is that the bed itself is located on the upper tier, and below it work zone(desk, cabinet, etc.).

Making a bed yourself

So, suitable model has already been selected, all that remains is to manufacture the components and assemble the structure. Let's see how you can make a bunk bed with your own hands. The instructions, which cover every detail of the bed in detail, will be very helpful. home handyman in this difficult matter.

It is assumed that the model is selected. The next step is to draw a sketch, or better yet detailed drawing bunk bed of your favorite design. On development stage Special attention should be given to reliability, strength, comfort. The frame must be strong, the fence walls must also be reliable, and climbing the stairs should not be difficult for a child.

Blueprints

Any work must be done carefully and accurately. There are instructions and a drawing for this. More often, drawings are created for each structural element separately. The exact dimensions of the parts and overall dimensions will make it possible to achieve the intended result.

So. You can draw the drawings yourself - now there are a lot of different software. What is important in the drawing, what must be indicated on the diagram? This dimensions already finished design. It is also important to specify and design the assembly diagram for the bunk bed. Must be specified necessary methods to connect the bed elements together, indicate the order of installation of the parts. It is necessary to indicate the dimensions of each part and fasteners.

Materials

For making 2 storey bed with your own hands, you usually use solid natural wood. It is not only high-quality and natural, but also beautiful material. Array processing may require special skills. As an alternative to solid wood, you can choose lumber - timber.

For finishing they choose MDF - it is an analogue of natural wood, the material has aesthetic appearance. Laminated MDF boards are suitable. There is an option to use an untreated slab. If parts for manufacturing will be ordered in furniture workshops, then MDF is processed there.

Chipboard is also used, but it is not suitable for all elements. It can be used to make drawers, backs or panels. Along with chipboard they also use furniture board- This is a sheet glued together from several pieces. Its advantage is that it natural wood, the disadvantage is that processing requires special tools and skills.

Tools

Before you make a bunk bed with your own hands, you should prepare your tools. These are saws, screwdrivers, planes or a grinder, knives, electric jigsaw and a drill. You will also need a measuring tool.

Frame making

The process of working on the frame begins with measuring the mattress. The frame must strictly correspond to the shape of the mattress. If the bed has a sofa, then measure the bottom of the sofa. The frame is connected to the sofa at its very bottom. Boards are prepared, which are then connected to each other and form a rectangle. Such boxes and their number should be made according to the number of sleeping places.

Frame manufacturing diagram

Next, the sofa is placed in the frame. To install the sofa in the frame, use side supports - two bars installed vertically. They are pulled together with smaller bars. There should be two such supports - one on one side, the other on the second. Then the frame is fastened and tightened.

Fastening can be done in any convenient way. Before using fasteners, wooden parts are coated with wood glue or PVA glue. Next, the entire structure is thoroughly dried.

Backs and walls

Bed headboards can be different - slatted options are often used. So, slats were added to the box at the bottom and at the top. They will hold the furniture and protect it from contact with the walls of the room. Often the back of the lower floor is soft.

To make the backrest, take a furniture panel or suitable boards. Next is done solid wall, which will be a limitation between the wall and the bed. The boards are secured to the back of the box. The design of the back does not play a special role. This element is necessary to highlight the tiers.

Detailed dimensions and assembly principle

The side walls are ordered in the workshop - in this case it is enough to fix them on the box. Professionals advise how to make side stacks - they can be solid for 2 floors. To make this element, take two boards - one should be wider than the other. Four slats are also required. The boards intended for the headboard are installed from the sides into the slats. The second rail will secure the walls with other elements. Then the back and headboard are connected. To ensure that the mattress lies on the bed, grates are made, slats or nets are installed. To enhance strength, the rail is nailed to the frame from the inside.

Ladder

When creating a bunk bed with your own hands, the drawings indicate the need for a ladder. Traditionally, a three-step ladder is used. But the number of steps can be more - it depends on the height. Depending on the type of fastener, the ladder can be vertical - it is tightly fixed to the frame. There are inclined stairs - these are installed at any angle.

Examples of staircase drawings

How to make a staircase is very simple. Take two beams - these are warps. The steps are fixed on them. The lower step is additionally connected to the stand of one of the backrests. Others are located one above the other. The steps are simply inserted into the bars. The steps can be connected externally, in a recess or on metal corner. Any fastener should be as closed as possible. It is desirable that the staircase have railings - their design can be described in the drawing of the staircase itself. This is an ordinary wooden plank, designed to fit a child's arm.

Legs

These details may be the most various shapes depending on the model and drawing. These parts are fixed from the inside, outside, or they can be inserted into the box. In practice, round, square or carved parts are chosen for bunk beds. Dimensions are calculated for maximum reliability.

Take two bursa and connect them two at a time. When the beams are connected along the length, the shape of the end of the part must correspond to the letter L. The length of the leg must exactly correspond to the height of the second floor fence. Here's how to assemble a bunk bed by making all the elements yourself. With the help of instructions, anyone can make a bunk bed for children.

Step-by-step instructions for making a bed (1 video)

In dormitories, hostels, mini-hotels and other similar establishments, there is always a need for maximum quantity sleeping places. Good decision at limited space is a bunk bed with a ladder that provides full sleeping accommodations. In stores, such furniture is quite expensive. In this article we will look at how to make a bunk bed with your own hands. There is nothing complicated in its design and anyone who knows how to hold a carpentry tool can make it.

As in most homemade bunk beds, in this option all fastenings will be hidden and located on the inside of the structure.

The main parts will be made from boards with sections of 50x100 and 50x150 mm. To make this bed, you can take any type of wood. We used pine as a quality and inexpensive material- This wood is best suited.

Note. Try to use beautiful and high-quality blanks so that shortcomings in the future do not catch your eye.

The photo shows work with professional carpentry tools. But you can make this bed with your own hands using household machines and hand tools.

Bed frame

You need to start by making frames. We will not indicate their sizes, because they depend on the dimensions of the mattresses that you are going to use. Also, the dimensions of the staircase parts depend on the size of the frames, which will strengthen the frame, give rigidity to the entire structure and will serve as a fence on the side of the foot and head of the bed.

The first step is to cut four long and four short boards for the frame. To make the frames, boards with a cross section of 50x150 mm are used, two short ones are cut to the width of the mattress. Longitudinal - along the length of the mattress, plus two thicknesses of short boards, in this case it is 100 mm. With these dimensions, the mattress will fit easily but tightly into the frame.

We decided that the bed shouldn't look completely new, so don't go overboard when sanding. But if there are factory marks, marks or barcodes on the wood, it is best to remove them so that the boards can be used on either side.

You can remove barcodes and price tags using sandpaper or grinder, it doesn't take much time.

It often happens that the thickness of the boards varies along the length, and if you have a thicknesser at your disposal, then use it. Several approaches to the minimum reach of the knife and the thickness will be the same everywhere.

The frame parts are connected using an oblique connection with inside. This ensures secure fastening and makes them invisible. You can attach boards to the frame by screwing in screws and through the ends, because these connections will be hidden by the legs of the bed.

Note: Before screwing, it is necessary to make pilot holes first to make the frame assembly process easier.

For the bottom support slats, 50x50 mm bars are used, we had boards with a section of 50x100, we decided to simply saw them in half and make blanks required size. In most cases, 25 mm thick slats are used, but in order for a two-tier wooden bed was stronger, we decided to use thick strips for the bottom.

High-quality and original furniture not only emphasizes the uniqueness of your home, but also allows you to diversify your life.

You can make a bunk bed from several types of material: the fairly popular chipboard, timber and edged boards, furniture panels, as well as solid wood.

A wooden bunk bed can be made quite quickly with your own hands, but you will have to put a lot of effort into it due to a number of features.

Selection of materials before the work process

Exists whole line materials from which a bunk bed can be made with your own hands, but in reality only a few are used:

  1. Chipboard, among others, is particularly popular due to its low price and the possibility of extremely fast production. If you work skillfully with a jigsaw, problems will not arise, but you cannot make an internal drawing, because... closing it requires complex equipment, which is installed only in factories. The downside is the color scheme (it is impossible to create a high-quality imitation), as well as small emissions chemical substances into the air in places not covered by the edging.
  2. Edged boards and timber are also very popular, but increasingly as load-bearing elements, while they are rarely used as main ones. Working with them is quite difficult, besides, it can be quite difficult to evaluate the material without prior experience, and only an experienced person can distinguish 17% humidity from 30%. In the presence of lathe timber is gaining particular popularity because You can form a very interesting support structure.
  3. Furniture board is the most expensive among all, and it cannot be found in every city in the world. To make a bunk bed with your own hands, this material is ideal, and its strength and environmental friendliness are almost equivalent to solid wood. It lends itself to processing quite well, and it is possible to form a pattern even without through holes, which is highly valued among wood cutting enthusiasts.
  4. The array is used extremely rarely, because prices are almost always astronomical, although you can get it everywhere. The convenience of this approach lies in the minimum number of parts, as well as their complete homogeneity. Working with the material is quite complex (you need to properly dry it, select it and process it), so it is better not to start working without good prior experience.

The fittings used are standard, but it is advisable to use galvanized steel instead of aluminum, which often does not look as impressive, but is much more reliable, and this is especially important for the upper tier.

Preparation and main activities

Tools and materials:

  • roulette;
  • edged board;
  • beam;
  • bar;
  • jigsaw;
  • protective composition;
  • flat brush;
  • screwdriver;
  • steel furniture corners;
  • furniture screws.

At the very beginning, you need to prepare a drawing of the future workflow. It is advisable to use a minimum number of parts in the drawing; moreover, it is often simplified during work, because Not all elements can be turned. The dimensions of the bed may vary depending on the physical characteristics of the vacationer, i.e. with a height of 190 cm, there is no point in making a bed shorter than 210, whereas with a height of 160 cm, 180 would be optimal.

In this case, we will consider the most inconvenient option - working with edged boards and timber, because, having learned from the complex, it will be much easier to move on to the simple. First you need to make a complete cut of the elements that will later be used:

  • timber 60*60 mm – 4 pcs. 1800 mm each;
  • edged board 25*150 mm – 6 pcs. 1900 mm each, 12 pcs. 750 mm each and 2 pcs. 1550 mm each;
  • block 25*80 mm – 2 pcs. 1800 mm each and 6 pcs. 300 mm each.

After which they should be sanded as thoroughly as possible with sandpaper. Particular attention is paid to the places where the cuts are made so that no burrs remain on them, and after finishing sanding you need to use a damp sponge (not wet) to collect all the dust from the wood, but not to wet it too much.

Then, without fail, all elements are covered protective layer against moisture and insects. Drying usually takes up to 12 hours, after which you can begin working again.

Now we have to assemble many sawn elements into 1 general design DIY bunk bed:

  1. At a height of 30 cm from the bottom of the beams, a perimeter is formed from edged boards.
  2. Another perimeter is formed mirror-like from above.
  3. The footboards and headboards are covered with 2 short boards.
  4. The upper tier along the perimeter is covered with boards, and only the platform for the stairs needs to be left.
  5. A staircase is formed.

In order to organize the joint between the board and the timber, you will need a furniture steel corner, 2 screws for each joint. It is this design that will ensure maximum reliability of the entire system during operation, regardless of the weight of the vacationer.

If desired, you can use long-length furniture screws, but for them you initially need to drill holes of small diameter, after which you can finally tighten them. Installation with self-tapping screws is more reliable, but the joints will be visible (it is better to use 2 options in a pair so that the quality is extremely high).

Important aspects at work

Tools and materials for further work:

  • PVA and sawdust;
  • furniture plugs;
  • stain and varnish;
  • flat brush;
  • rubber heels;
  • hammer and bead nails.

After you have made a bunk bed with your own hands, you need to make sleeping places in it. To do this, you will need 8 cuts of a 25*40 mm bar along the entire internal length on 2 levels - these will be the drawers.

To fix them, ordinary screws are used, but you still need to drill holes so as not to split the wood. The fastening pitch is only 25 cm with mandatory joints at the corners.

Mattress pads are formed on them from edged boards. To do this, the board is cut to the entire internal width of the bed and fixed in increments of 10-13 cm. If the increment is reduced, then the bed will be too hard, and if increased, the mattress will fall into the cracks. All fixing is done using self-tapping screws with a flat head, and the head must be inserted into the board (a groove is cut with a chisel). Otherwise, the mattress may be damaged, which is strictly prohibited.

All screws visible to the eye must be covered with special furniture plugs, allowing the metal to merge with the wood. If you want to achieve a better result, you can mix PVA with sawdust (you get an improvised putty) and carefully tighten the metal with this mixture. In any of the 2 options the result will be quite good, but upon closer inspection you can still see the screws.

And now the bed is completely ready, but you can’t rest on it yet. Now you need to cover it with stain and varnish, and then let it sit for 36 hours. complete drying in a ventilated area. You should not rely on the fact that 4-5 hours after varnishing you can no longer feel anything with your fingers, because... harmful chemical compounds will be released into the surrounding atmosphere for a very long time.

Before use, rubber heels are nailed to the legs using glazing bead nails, which will help level out uneven floors. Instead of rubber, you can use plastic analogues, but they will not provide such softness.

As time goes by, children grow, their beds become too small for them. The time has come to think about sleeping places with full dimensions, because the children will very soon turn into lanky teenagers. Put two large beds- this is not an option, they will take up almost the entire space of the children's room. However, there is always a way out. For those who know how to hold a hammer and screwdriver in their hands, we offer detailed instructions How to make a bunk bed yourself.

General view of a bunk bed

Preparatory stage

First, we select mattresses of the required dimensions. Their standard sizes are 180x70 cm. The mattress should be comfortable, preferably orthopedic, spring. But if you wish, you can make it yourself. You will need foam rubber and thick fabric for a cover (teak, calico). It is better to take two layers of foam rubber, the first 10 cm thick, the second 15 cm. The density coefficient of the bottom layer should not exceed 35 kg/m3 to make the mattress softer.

We will make a bunk bed with our own hands simple and comfortable. The product will consist of the following parts:

  • Four racks,
  • Two shelves with edging and fences,
  • Vertical staircase.

Now you need to decide where to put the bed. Please note that the width of the bed will be 5 cm larger when adding a ladder. So, the estimated dimensions finished product will be:

  • Length – 1904 mm,
  • Width – 744 mm,
  • The total height of the bed is 1800 mm,
  • Height to the bottom tier - 200 mm,
  • The height from the floor to the second tier is 1220 mm. Before making a two-story bed, check in practice whether you can stand up without hitting the second tier with your head.

We produce a drawing with full detail and dimensions. Now you can go to the construction base for lumber.

Tools and materials

To make a bunk bed with your own hands, we need light and durable wood coniferous species. The board and timber must be smooth and well dried. If it is possible to cut the material at home, then it is better to do so. Otherwise, wood cutting can be ordered at the base. Here are the dimensions of the required parts:

To work we will need the following tools:

  • Hacksaw, simple or electric.
  • Drill with bits.
  • Electric planer.
  • Clamps.
  • Chisel, screwdriver.
  • Hammer.
  • Jigsaw.
  • Level, tape measure, ruler, pencil.
  • Lots of sandpaper.

Preparing parts

Racks

The bed post consists of two boards fastened with four screws at right angles. To do this, we tighten both boards with a clamp. We drill out the intended holes with a drill, screw in the screws, and remove the clamp. In the same way, we prepare three more racks, and those that will go to the head should be longer. Thinking about how to make your own bunk bed with modern forms, round off the top of the posts. To do this, we cut them along the radius with a jigsaw, chamfer the corners of the radius, and sand the surface with sandpaper.

Bed shelves

We cut them out of 8mm plywood. To make the material less deformed, we make two blanks for each sleeping place. One sheet should have dimensions of 124x70 cm, the other - 62x70 cm, so that their joint falls on the transverse beam.

Ladder

For the crossbars, you can take 3 ready-made gymnastic poles and cut each one into 2 parts of 50 cm. We make the staircase posts from 70x40 mm timber. The top of the posts is rounded in the same way as the bed posts.

Beam for installing shelves

We cut the timber to install the bottom shelf:

  • Longitudinal parts 1860x50x40 mm – 6 pcs. (3 per shelf),
  • Transverse parts 700x50x40 mm – 8 pcs. (4 timbers per shelf).

We cut the boards for the edging and fencing after the base of the bed is assembled. When making bunk beds it is not always possible to follow exact dimensions, so it is better to match the decorative parts to the finished frame.

Bed assembly

Step 1. Assemble the frame of the bed shelves. To do this, we select nests in the timber, approximately half the thickness of the tree, to connect the longitudinal and transverse beams. We assemble the frame and check its perpendicularity. We attach plywood panels to the frame, coating them with wood glue. We strengthen the connection with screws in increments of 200 mm. The finished shelves should be dried, then the front surface should be sanded.

Step 2. Assembling the stairs. We mark the posts and drill holes for the crossbars using a feather drill. The diameter of the holes is 30 mm, the depth is 15 mm. We insert the halves of gymnastic sticks into the holes and secure them with screws. You can pre-coat the walls of the recesses with wood glue.

Ladder

Step 3. Connecting the bed posts with the shelves. How to make a bunk bed with strong beds? Safety comes first. Our solution is simple and reliable. First, mark the mounting height of both shelves. This is done from the inside of the racks at the level of the lower surfaces of the shelf frame. We tighten the shelves with the racks with clamps, check the perpendicularity and make marks for the fasteners. We drill holes for screws in both boards of the rack. We secure the shelves by tightening the screws.

Step 4. Hanging decorative edging. We measure the distance between the posts, saw off and adjust the longitudinal and transverse boards of the edging. We install them 5 cm below the frames to hide the timber structure. We attach the edging to the shelves with screws.

Step 6. Installation of the fence. A do-it-yourself two-story bed should not only be durable, but also aesthetically pleasing. So let's do it beautiful fencing. We cut longitudinal and transverse boards measuring 70x22 mm into the bed posts, having previously selected nests in the wood with a chisel. On the bottom shelf front side Bed railing is not required. We secure the slats with screws, screwing them to the racks. We sew up the openings between the edging and the fence with beautiful fabric. The assembled product can be painted or varnished.

Step 7. Installing the bed. To ensure that the bed is stable, it should be attached to the wall using brackets.
