Description

From 2014 to 2018 production chemicals plant protection in Russia increased by 90.1%: from 45.3 to 86.1 thousand tons. The indicator grew relative to previous years in 2016-2018 and decreased in 2015. A sharp increase in production in 2016 (by 59.2% relative to 2015) became possible, among other things, due to the low comparison base: in 2015, the volume of domestic output decreased, since due to the crisis in the country’s economy, pesticides became noticeably more expensive, which caused a reduction in demand for these products.

According to experts, the domestic market of chemical plant protection products is still far from saturation. Without the use of modern pesticides, the profitability of agricultural enterprises will remain low. No fertilizers will allow you to get a full harvest without the simultaneous use of chemical plant protection products, since fertilizers stimulate and feed not only cultivated plants, but also weeds, the yield losses from which average about 20%.

The share of herbicide production, which constitutes the largest segment of the crop protection chemical market, has changed over the last five years from 71.2% in 2016 to 77.2% in 2014 (72.1% in 2018). The share of insecticides in 2014-2018 varied from 9.7% in 2017 to 12.7% in 2016 (12.1% in 2018). The share of fungicides, rodenticides and similar products during the study period increased from 6.0% in 2014 to 14.2% in 2018, while the share of anti-sprouting agents and plant growth regulators, on the contrary, decreased from 4.2 to 1.6 %.

According to BusinesStat forecasts, in 2019-2023 the production of chemical plant protection products will show an annual increase of 2.0-5.1%. The indicator will reach 105.7 thousand tons in 2023 and exceed the 2018 value by 22.8%.
