Thank you for taking the survey! Thank you for taking the survey! Back to the Poll

It is natural for any polite person to express gratitude at the end of the communication, which took place on his initiative and somehow satisfied his interests. It is advisable to put the following statements at the end of the questionnaire: “Thank you very much for your answers,” “Thank you for your help,” “Thank you for participating in the study,” etc. However, often, before finishing a conversation, a sociologist asks the respondents how interesting or do they consider the survey to be timely (“How important do you think it is to conduct this survey?”). In addition, some questionnaires end with an offer to participate in subsequent surveys (“If you find it useful to conduct surveys, and you want to take part in them, please leave your details”). Finally, some researchers consider it necessary, before saying goodbye to the respondent, to provide him with another opportunity to speak out or add something that he did not say in his answers. Therefore, there are also such proposals: “Your comments, suggestions, considerations about the survey, you can set out in your
in a good place ”(in such cases, respondents have the opportunity to write something in the margins, on the cover of the questionnaire, which some do).

There are many rules that should not be violated when formulating questions. Here is some of them. Rule 1. Questions should not be ambiguous, i.e. should not include words with multiple meanings and interpretations. An example of such an incomprehensible question: "What is the size of your income?" Does this question imply the income of the whole family or only the income of the respondent? Are we talking about salaries or other sources of income as well? Rule 2. The question should be simple, without complicated wording. You should not use complex terms that may be incomprehensible to the respondents. Rule 3. You should not allow bias, pushing respondents to a definite answer and start questions with the words “Do you agree? ...”, “Don't you think that? .....”, “Do you love? ...... " Rule 4. Consider whether the question exceeds the respondent's memory capacity. Example: "How much money did you spend on buying toothpaste in the last year?" Now try to calculate this amount yourself and see that it is difficult to answer such a question. Rule 5. The question should not cause negative emotions, embarrassment, or feelings of shame. Respect for the respondent is one of the most important requirements for a survey.

Designing a questionnaire

The questionnaire begins with a greeting (Hello, etc.) Then an appeal to the respondent follows, which indicates: who (organization or scientific institution) is conducting the survey and why, how the data will be used; instructions on how to fill out the questionnaire and how to return it. In the introductory part, one should not “put pressure” on the respondent, using the words “offer” or “you have to”. There is no need for fawning, such as: "You will help us a lot if ...". Do not express uncertainty: "Could you ... ..". The introduction should be short and concise. Having compiled it, cross out all unnecessary words that you can easily do without. After the introduction, we post the questions. First, there are easy and interesting questions, then - difficult ones, at the end of the questionnaire, when the respondent is already tired, you can put several simple or interesting questions. If the instructions in the introductory part are not enough, you can give additional instructions for particularly difficult questions. If necessary, filter questions are placed in the questionnaire. These are questions that allow you to weed out those respondents who cannot provide the necessary information. The last in the questionnaire are questions about the respondents themselves, their gender, age, income level, etc. The final part of the questionnaire is gratitude to the respondent for participating in the survey. When drawing up a questionnaire, it is also advisable to follow a few rules. Rule 1. Clarity, clarity of wording, conciseness and questions and answers. Rule 2. Literary language of the questionnaire. Common speech is not needed, slang is unacceptable, for example, the use of the word "take" instead of "buy", "pants" instead of "pants", etc. Rule 3. Taking into account the characteristics of the audience. If the audience consists of ordinary buyers, a simple questionnaire is created for them. The executive questionnaire may contain some complex terms. Rule 4. Observance of the neutrality of the researcher. The questionnaire should not contain any hints that the researcher wants to receive some kind of information to confirm his hypotheses. You need to find out the opinion of the respondents. The researcher himself is well aware of his opinion; there is no need to conduct surveys to confirm it. Rule 5. The questionnaires should be printed on good quality white paper. They are designed in a business style, i.e. without any decorations. It is desirable to place the entire questionnaire on one page. If you still need a transfer, you cannot separate the question and answers or the list of answers by transferring them to another page. The entire question structure is placed on one page. All questions are numbered in order, and the answer options are indicated by letters or numbers in brackets (for the convenience of processing and self-control of the respondent). It is advisable to use a variety of fonts and certainly a varied layout of questions and answer options. Type in different fonts: introductory notes to a series of questions, the questions themselves, instructions on how to answer, answer options.

Basic principles of building a questionnaire are as follows:

First principle: Taking into account the characteristics of the respondent's perception of the text of the questionnaire is the leading principle from which all other requirements for its construction follow.

Second principle: an indispensable consideration of the specifics of the culture and practical experience of the interviewed audience. These are requirements for the general structure of the questionnaire. For example, when interviewing workers, it is hardly reasonable to explain at length the scientific goals of the work being undertaken. It is better to emphasize its practical importance. When interviewing experts, one should indicate both the practical and scientific goals of the study.

The third principle : follows from the fact that the same questions, located in a different sequence, will give different information. For example, if you first raise the question of the level of satisfaction with some activity and its conditions (work, life, etc.), and then - questions to assess the particular characteristics of the activity (satisfaction with the content of work, earnings, consumer services, etc.), then general assessments will affect private ones, lowering (or, conversely, increasing) them, regardless of the specifics of one or another aspect of the general situation.

In this case, you should put particular questions first, summarizing --- at the end of the corresponding "block", preceding the phrase: "And now we ask you to evaluate in general, to what extent you are satisfied ... with something," etc. Evaluation private working conditions, everyday life, etc. precedes the general one, makes the respondent more responsibly approach the final assessment, helps to understand his own moods.

Fourth principle :- the semantic "blocks" of the questionnaire should be approximately the same size. The dominance of a certain "block" inevitably affects the quality of responses to other semantic "blocks". For example, in a questionnaire on lifestyle, asking in detail about working conditions, and then giving 2 - 3 questions to living conditions, we knowingly let the respondent understand that the first is more important, and thereby put pressure on him. Researchers who disagree with this position may inadvertently lower their marks for the "work" block, and at the same time - for other aspects of the survey topic.

Fifth principle : concerns the distribution of questions according to their degree of difficulty. The first questions should be simpler, followed by more complex (preferably event-driven, not evaluative), then even more difficult (motivational), then a recession (again event-based, factual) and at the end - the most difficult questions (one or two), after which is the final "passport".

Good time everyone. Sergey is in touch!

Immediately I want to thank all my subscribers and site visitors who took part in. I received a lot of interesting answers. And in general, it's great that 2 months ago I decided to do this Poll! Now let's get some details and details.

For those who do not know or have forgotten, I will remind you. I added a form to the page, where we still have 5 questions. Here they are:

What is your name?
What computer problem are you concerned about at the moment?
What at first glance needs to be changed on the site?
Are you willing to pay me to solve problems with your computer?
Your wishes for the author or site!

I chose these questions in order to understand which new ones need to be written in the first place, what changes should be implemented on the site and whether there is a reason for paid services. Something like that!

As a result, almost 200 people took part in the Survey, and the first thing I realized was that users want more information on. Further, I realized that in terms of design and convenience on the site, most people like everything and do not need to change anything. But despite this, I refreshed the design on the site a little, since I had these ideas for a long time, I will talk about this in a separate article.

By the way, I noticed that you also like video tutorials. Well, it’s not in vain that I’m leading and even devoted a separate article to this. So, with regard to the video. Some write something like this: " Sergey, you need to more slowly and clearly present the material on the video"!

This is not the first time I have heard such and similar comments. But I must tell you that my presentation of the material allows you to give out useful information in the shortest possible video, which some would expound for hours. For example, my lesson on installing Windows 7 from a flash drive lasts 7 minutes and fully covers the topic. But I could have done it for 40 minutes, telling everything sooo slowly. But then very few people would have watched it to the end!

I have old videos in which I tell everything very slowly and with long pauses. And there I still find comments that listen to me meticulously!

In my new videos, I try to educate the user as quickly as possible without water on the topic that interests him. After all, this is a video! It can be paused, rewound if you missed something, or revised again if you forgot something.

In addition, the most important thing is that I always have a text version along with the video lesson. That is, I record a video for my YouTube channel INETCOMP, and for the site I am writing exactly the same article with a bunch of pictures and detailed presentation. Therefore, there should be no problems here!

Let's go back to the Poll!

The Poll was not without a negative response. There were like bad reviews that were unpleasant to read, and there were those that amused. For example, among the wishes for the author and the site was the following: " Remove the damn ads".

But most of all, of course, I want to show good answers. Here are some examples:

Thank you very much for participating in the Survey!

LITTLE OFFTOP! Thank you for your response to the newsletter. Recently, the Smartresponder mailing service has ceased to exist, in general, it has completely closed. I found a new mailing service for myself and moved all my subscribers there! To be sure that everything went well, in my first letter I asked you to inform me in a reply that everything is OK and the letters are getting through. I received tons of emails!

Thanks to everyone who responded!

That's all, thanks for your attention. See you in new videos and articles!

P.S. The third photo is from my new video. If anyone hasn't watched, here's the video:
