The lion is one of the largest carnivores in the feline family. Drawing a lion is not easy, if only because we rarely see a lion. The cat certainly looks like a lion, but still she is not a lion. Basically, the lion is not much different from its tiger and leopard counterparts. The same proportions of the body, except for the lush mane and "tassel" at the tip of the tail. Drawing a lion from the first drawing lesson may not work, then take a closer look at your cat first and even draw it. Then it will be easier for you to complete the drawing of a lion. In this lesson we will learn draw a lion step by step, simple pencil.

1. Let's draw the contours of the torso and head

Let's start, as always, with the initial contour shapes. You need to draw two circles for the torso and one smaller circle for the head. The circumference of the front of the lion is slightly larger, and it intersects with the circumference for the head. When the drawing is done in stages, with a simple pencil, you can always correct the wrong lines, so draw boldly, and if there are mistakes, correct them.

2. The contours of the upper part of the legs

In the drawing of a lion, the most difficult stage is the initial one, because you determine the basic proportions of the future picture. At this stage, you only need to add the upper and lower torso lines. I think it won't be difficult for you to draw it. But the upper parts of the legs will be more difficult to draw, but they need to be drawn exactly as in my drawing.

3. How to draw the head and paws

Before drawing the paws, let's make it easier. Draw the outline of the tail and continue the top line connecting it to the front paw. Now let's draw the rest of the lion's paws. "Extend" the front leg with one more additional outline and draw a "pillow" on the leg. Immediately draw a second front paw next to it. About the same you need to draw the hind legs, focusing on my drawing.
Now let's draw the head of the lion. As always, start drawing the most simple elements... Divide the oval of the mouth into three parts and draw a triangle for the nose just above, and draw the eyes last.

4. General contour of the body, head and paws

Trace the original outlines of the hind legs with a pencil. Try to accurately shape the paws, do not make them too thin or too thick. It is these "little things" that will make the lion's drawing realistic. Don't forget to draw the tail. After that, remove the extra contour lines from the drawing. You see now that lion drawing almost finished, all that remains is to draw the head in detail and shade the drawing with a simple pencil.

5. Finish drawing the lion

I made an extra step on purpose as drawing the lion's head is not easy. Let's take a closer look at the "face" of the lion (you can enlarge this picture in the browser).
To draw a lion correctly and realistically, you need to pay attention to the "little things". You need to draw in detail the fur, a brush on the tip of the tail and add shadows throughout the picture.
Draw in all the details that you missed and if you wish, draw in the background the landscape surrounding the lion. Additional details always liven up the drawing and make the picture more realistic. A drawing of a lion drawn with a simple pencil with shadows is not advisable to paint. If you are going to make the picture in color, then start painting it in step 5.

6. Drawing of a lion on a graphics tablet

If you can draw a lion the first time, then you are a real artist. And if the lesson did not work out, try observing and drawing your cat. Apart from their mane and size, cats are practically indistinguishable from lions.

Pictures of cats drawn with pencil or paints can become good decoration children's room. But in order to draw a cat correctly, let's learn a little. By the way, drawing a lion will be easier if you know how to draw a cat correctly.

The lion is very similar to the tiger. The same structure and body size, only a shaggy mane and a tassel on the tail distinguish a lion from a tiger.

The fox, of course, does not at all look like a lion, but it is very similar to its congeners - the wolf and the dog. She has a similar body structure to them and only slightly smaller... But the fox also has its own differences. She has a very lush tail, which she needs not only for beauty, but also for business, for example, to cover up her own tracks in the snow or to keep warm in severe frost.

The wolf in the drawings most often depicts a grin to convey its aggressive character. This grin can create a great wild beast effect in your drawing of an angry lion as well. In this lesson we will learn how to draw a wolf in stages with a pencil.

In this lesson we will learn how to draw a St. Bernard dog step by step with a pencil. This dog is cute to me because it has a good-natured look, and if you learn how to draw this breed of dog, you can easily draw a lion, tiger or other breeds of dogs.
