Dimensions of the head hole in the massage table. A portable do-it-yourself massage table is an indispensable assistant for a masseur. Types of massage tables

It's hard to find someone who doesn't like massage! A relaxed patient lies on the table, and the masseur's strong hands relieve muscle spasms accumulated over the years, stimulate pleasant emotions and, undoubtedly, improve the overall health of the body! It seemed that could darken the flow of incredible pleasure? Nevertheless, there are such factors. There are two of them - an unskilled, rude masseur and ... an uncomfortable massage table!

The first phenomenon is being fought desperately by modern medical science and the ever-growing competition in the profession. Few people think about the admissibility of the second phenomenon, nevertheless it is no less relevant, and in this article we will try to exclude it by choosing a massage table that is comfortable, convenient for both the specialist and the patient.

For consideration in this article, 5 options for massage tables will be presented, the pros and cons of each will be provided, but which one to choose - each professional will decide for himself.

  • Convenience for the patient: this is perhaps one of the most important aspects, since it can significantly spoil the most qualified work of a specialist and, thereby, reduce the flow of patients. What is included in this category: the softness of the materials of the table couch, external upholstery, the presence of additional devices under the arms, a sense of security (stability);
  • Cost of the table: this parameter is placed in the next place, because it plays the second leading role in the choice of the "assistant masseur";
  • The external dimensions of the table, the ability to dynamically adapt to the conditions of the room: the massage therapist can visit different types of apartments, including small ones, if he does not plan traveling work, then this factor is not so important, since the table for this case will be selected for certain conditions ;
  • Dynamic design: different massage options provide for different table inclinations, its general ascent or descent, lifting of individual parts, adjustment of the table for the growth of the masseur and the patient.
  • Ability to withstand heavy loads: this parameter is relative and depends on the specifics of the masseur's work: if the masseur deals exclusively with children and adolescence, then this criterion will not play any role. In the opposite case, if a specialist conducts classes with persons seeking to lose weight or patients who have suffered a stroke, this parameter will be decisive when choosing a table;
  • Convenience of cleaning the table: in the process of work, one way or another, the table can get dirty (massage agents drip, patients sweat, if they are children, then there may be involuntary urination) - the material of the device should be cleaned well and quickly.

Rating of the best massage tables

The first version of the Russian manufacturer. It is produced in St. Petersburg by the Phoenix-Plus company. Before us is a folding massage table of the classical type, which does not provide for any special delights. A budget option that is perfect for beginner massage therapists.

The internal components of the cover are represented by a 30 mm layer of ST foam rubber.

  • The outer cover is a high-quality leatherette. Medium hardness. The legs are made of aluminum, the back surface is covered with plywood. The structure doesn't look sturdy.
  • The table looks like a product of a not very expensive segment. The average cost in Russia varies between 3200 - 5700 rubles, depending on the supplier and delivery.
  • External dimensions of the table: 190 x 70 cm, Not suitable for working with persons whose height exceeds 1 meter 90 cm. Perfect for working with children. When folded, the bag will occupy a surface: 95x70x15 cm, which looks quite compact;

  • The outer material of the table is leatherette. On the one hand, this material is perfectly cleaned of any massage products, nevertheless, it is capable of absorbing and retaining odors for a long time, both from cosmetics and patient secretions. When choosing a table, it is advisable to choose dark coatings, since light ones are very easily soiled and difficult to clean from external contaminants;

Massage table Phoenix Light Master 190P

The inner filling is made of foam rubber 40 mm thick, which is quite comfortable for the patient, there are armrests for the hands and a hole for the face. • The table can withstand a fairly large mass - 250 kg, which gives more opportunities for working with people of different weight categories, however, when folded, the table is quite heavy - its weight exceeds 15 kg.,
  • The table is covered with leatherette of good medium quality, which allows us to draw a number of disappointing conclusions: 1) not resistant to the effects of accidentally spilled cosmetic products, it can peel over time; 2) after purchase, the industrial smell of leatherette lasts for a long time, which can provoke headaches. However, unlike the previous version, this one does not retain the odors of secretions and perfumes and is easily wiped off from dirt.

The table has a beautiful appearance and a fairly solid internal structure. This is a foldable model that can be carried to a place convenient for the specialist and patient.

  • The table is soft enough. The inner material is 50 mm thick elastic gas-filled polyrethane plastic, which is very comfortable for patients;

  • The outer dimensions of the table are determined by the parameters 185 x 63 x 65 cm.The table can be raised to a height of 85 cm.It should be noted that this table will be difficult to use for persons whose height is above 185 cm, even despite the additional headrest, the width will also be modest - only 63 cm, which in turn will complicate the work with overweight patients. Folded size: 93 x 63 x 16 cm. Compact enough to carry.

A massage table is not only a full-fledged assistant, but also a mirror of the specialist himself. You should take a responsible approach to the choice of this device, since it is not a one-time value, and the appearance can tell a lot about the massage therapist. In this article, both simple models that have already proven themselves in the market have been considered, and relatively young models that are just being mastered, but are already demonstrating their quality indicators. This article is intended to help you make the right choice.

Before you professionally engage in massage, you need to choose the right massage table. Dimensions, weight, height, materials - all these characteristics must be studied and correctly selected. In the article, we will consider how to choose the right massage table that will be convenient not only for the master, but also for all clients.

The buyer should understand that a regular couch will not be an excellent substitute for a massage table. It cannot be adjusted according to the client's height, physique. In addition, it will not be as comfortable as a professional device. Therefore, the table must first of all be comfortable and reliable.

Height

The table that the massage therapist reaches with his fingertips will be the most comfortable. The height can be more / less by 5 cm. Such a characteristic will allow not only to easily carry out massage, but also reduce the load on the lower back. When choosing the size of the massage table, you need to pay attention to the height adjustment mechanism. The step should not be more than 10 cm. Ideally, it should be about 4-5 cm. If the height is not chosen correctly, it will be difficult and inconvenient to perform the massage. Some folding tables have a fine adjustment of this value, which allows you to adjust the device for a specific masseur.

Width and length

The dimensions of the massage table also play an important role. The width should be about 60-75 cm. In 95% of cases, it is always enough. If the massage is aimed at overweight people, then a table with a width of 85 cm or more will do. Ideally, you need to purchase two tables for people of different sizes.

The length should be about 190 cm with a headrest. Experts advise purchasing a model with a length of 200-210 cm to ensure a pleasant session for tall people.

The weight

You can purchase both a folding massage table and a stationary one. One should always pay attention to its weight. If the model is portable, then its weight should not exceed 20 kg. Otherwise, it will be difficult not only to carry it, but also to fold it. Many experts prefer attachments weighing up to 11 kg.

Load

Not only the size of the massage table is important, but also its exposure. The maximum load indicator is the weight under which the table will not tilt and move in different directions. It should be noted that manufacturers always overestimate this indicator. Therefore, it is necessary to take into account deviations of 10-15 kg when selecting.

Eyelets

Not only the right size of the massage table will help to make it lighter and more enjoyable. It is imperative to choose the device that has either a headrest with a hole, or a hole in the face table itself.

Eyelets under the chest are not at all necessary, but if a girl with a size of 2.5 or more comes to the session, she will experience discomfort. Women with breasts over 4.5 sizes will refuse services altogether. For pregnant women, eyelets are needed both under the belly and under the chest. In the latter case, holes are also necessary if the girl is breastfeeding.

When buying, it is best to choose a table that has grommets under the chest, stomach and face. It costs a little more, but the customer coverage will be greater.

Material

All massage tables are upholstered with leatherette. It must be of high quality. If you use fabric options, then after a while the device will become unusable. The imitation leather should have a neutral odor. At the moment, there are a lot of options that are as similar as possible to natural leather. Arpatek eco-leather is often used. This material is soft and pleasant to the touch.

Vinyl upholstery is most commonly used. Such synthetic leatherette is now quite popular. This is due to the fact that it is strong, has a long service life, and is resistant to water and oils. One of the downsides is that it wipes down easily with regular use.

Polyurethane upholstery looks more like leather in its properties. Nice and soft. Good quality. Has disadvantages: contact with water and oils is prohibited. They damage the upholstery.

Arpatek is considered premium upholstery. It is often used to create expensive models. It is considered hygienic. There are no pores and microcracks.

Synthetic materials are often used as fillers. They should be tight and resilient. Ideally, the filler should perfectly remember the body shape of each client. This will ensure maximum massage comfort. The height of the filler should not be less than 4 cm.

Moisture resistance

Knowing what dimensions of the massage table are the standard for this type of device, you can pay attention to other important characteristics. The table should be lined with a material that will be easy to clean due to the minimum influence of moisture. If you plan to do massage in a sauna, steam bath or near the pool, then it is best to purchase the model that is designed for this. Otherwise, the table will suffer from moisture, and not only its coating, but also other elements will be damaged.

Arm stands

Depending on the size of the massage table, the supports can be either under the headrest or at surface level. Due to them, you can relax the client's hands. In the absence of coasters, nothing dangerous will happen, but with them it is more convenient for both the masseur and the client.

Use of oils

If the massage therapist plans to conduct a session using oils, then the device should have special sides or grooves. In this case, the dimensions of the massage table will increase by 5-8 cm. If there is a side, the oil simply will not drip onto the floor. If there is a groove, it will drain into the desired container. The first option is considered more convenient, therefore such tables are more popular.

Sections

A portable massage table can be two- or three-section. The former are folded only for transportation. The sections are not involved in the massage. In the three-section version, the part on which the client places his legs is raised.

Support

The massage table can be made of steel, bamboo, wood and aluminum. The latter option is considered more practical. This is due to the fact that such tables are durable, weigh a little and, if broken, are the easiest to repair. Wood and bamboo tables are not as durable and will have to be handled carefully. Steel is considered the most reliable, but these tables are quite heavy. Therefore, they fail only if the masseur is a man.

Manufacturers

Many advise American and Japanese firms. For example, Anatomico makes good folding massage tables. They have an extensive assortment, so it will not be difficult to find the right option. If we talk about domestic options, then it is better than the above to find the best combination of price and quality anywhere else.

Models of manufacturers US MEDICA and YAMAGUCHI are made in Europe and Asia, you should not count on first-class quality. However, they are comfortable and well designed.

Guarantee

The brand warranty always lasts at least one year. Some manufacturers extend this period to 36 months. Massage tables cannot be returned or exchanged. This is due to the fact that it is quite difficult to prove the fault of the seller or manufacturer in the existence of certain shortcomings, even during the examination.

Stationary table

Stationary massage tables are purchased for installation in spas, clinics or beauty salons. This is due to the fact that the device is rather heavy and unsuitable for transportation. One of the advantages is sustainability. Some models can transform. Due to this, they can be used not only for massage, but also for other cosmetic procedures.

Folding table

A folding massage table is most often purchased by specialists who go to massage at home. Often, such a device is bought by clients who invite craftsmen to their place. When the procedure is over, the table can be folded up and put into the closet. Such models are also often purchased by small salons.

In addition, due to the size of the folding massage table, it can be folded and unfolded rather quickly, there will be no problems. Such models allow you to easily adjust the height of each individual leg, which allows you to install the table even on uneven surfaces.

Types of tables: which one to choose

Before buying a particular model, you should understand some of the nuances. The main question is where and what the table will be used for. When it comes to home use or on-site visits, a fold-out massage table is ideal. This option will be as convenient as possible. To work in the salon, you will need a stationary version. If you plan to use it only for massage, then it is best to choose a single-section table. Such a device only allows you to lie on the table. This option will be much cheaper than multi-section options. But if there is a desire to use the table for other cosmetic procedures, then it is best to prefer a two- or three-section option. Such models can be easily converted into a chair. Often, such options are created with an electric drive. This allows you to change the seat configuration in just a few seconds.

Prices

The cheapest, but high-quality portable massage tables are sold for 15 thousand rubles. For example, lightweight options from US Medica Samurai, in which the headrest is height adjustable and the armrests are removable, will cost exactly that price. More expensive models can cost from 40 thousand rubles. The premium version of Anatomico Verona is sold for 50 thousand rubles. However, for such a price, the buyer receives a three-section table that can withstand up to 350 kg.

Stationary options cost from 60 thousand rubles and more. The most affordable model is the US Medica Atlant. This table has additional cushions, multi-layer filling. Covering is carried out from arpatek. More expensive models can cost 180 thousand rubles. But for that kind of money, this is not a table, but a chair that can be transformed using the work of an electric drive.

Diy table. What tools are needed

Below is a drawing with the dimensions of the massage table. Using it, you can easily make a device with your own hands. What tools do you need?

  • A hacksaw that allows you to work with metal, make small cuts.
  • Hacksaw for wood. It can be used to grind ends, cut grooves. The model must have fine teeth.
  • A circular saw. It is desirable that it be with a swash plate. Thanks to it, you can saw the beams. It can be used in any room, unlike a stationary machine.
  • Drill. She needs to make holes in the details.
  • Drill. They must be suitable for woodworking. These drills have a special sharpening, which makes it easier to work with the material.
  • Screwdriver. In the process, you will need to work with self-tapping screws.
  • Mallet. This tool will allow you to work with wood.
  • Chisel. It creates a black selection of grooves.
  • Jigsaw. It must have a guiding element. Allows you to cut out parts from solid wood.
  • Construction type stapler. It will be needed for upholstering the table with leather.
  • Stationery knife.
  • Roulette (ruler).
  • Construction pencil.
  • Building corner.

DIY table: materials

Certain materials will be needed to create a stationary or fold-out massage table. Consider those that are necessary for work:

  • Plywood. Must be sanded. You need to take two sheets with dimensions of 60 x 90 x 0.9 cm.
  • The bars that are needed to make the legs. Length 18 m, dimensions 2 x 5 cm.
  • Foam rubber. You need to take two sheets of 60 x 90 x 0.5 cm.
  • Imitation leather (real leather or other material). The sheet should measure 110 x 210 cm.
  • Piano hinges. You need 14 pieces (1.8 x 5 cm).
  • Furniture screws, 1.5 cm long.
  • Self-tapping screws (2, 3.5 and 4.5 cm).
  • Glue. PVA will do. Needs 0.5 l.
  • 600 grit sandpaper.

DIY table assembly

Stage 1. First you need to make a markup of the table top. On each plywood, mark a 60 x 90 cm piece and cut out the details. You need to use a jigsaw. The ends must be sanded with sandpaper. This will remove the burrs and make the surface smooth. On that sheet of plywood, which will be the front, you need to mark the cutout for the face. Its dimensions are 18 by 11 cm. It can also be cut with a jigsaw. The edges must be sanded. Below is a drawing with dimensions.

Stage 2. After the cover is made, you need to make the frame. To do this, take a bar measuring 2 by 5 cm. You need to make 4 different segments from it. They should be 90 cm long. You will need 4 more pieces of timber, but their length should be 55 cm. Using self-tapping screws (4.5 cm), you need to connect the beams to make a frame. Its dimensions are 90 by 60 cm. Measurements must be made at the outer ends. Before connecting the segments, you need to make holes 3 mm deep. Thanks to this, the wood will not crack. The front part of the tabletop made in the first stage must be attached to the frames. To do this, you need to use self-tapping screws 2 cm long.

Stage 3. Finishing the top cover needs to be finished. It is treated with glue, and foam rubber is neatly laid on top. After the PVA dries up, you need to put a second sheet of material. When the glue is completely dry, you need to cut out an oval for the face and remove the rest of the material around the edges. Now you can pull on the leatherette. It needs to be fixed to the countertop. In this case, the foam rubber should not be strongly compressed. The edge of the material must be bent and wound behind the resulting frame. Using a stapler, you need to sew it with it to secure it. The sewing pitch is 0 mm. For convenience, it is better to fix the material first along the length and then along the width. At the corners, you need to fix the leatherette so that there are no folds.

Stage 4. Below is a diagram according to which you need to assemble the first two blanks of the legs. The most difficult thing when making a table on your own is to achieve the most even cut and, accordingly, stability. The table should not wobble under any circumstances. The cut must be neat and precise.

Below is a diagram according to which the following supports are assembled. After making them, you need to connect the first and second pair of legs with self-tapping screws. The result is two identical sets of supports. There should be no distortions.

Stage 5. You need to connect all the details. The hinges should be located on the inner frames right in the corner of the structure. After that, you need to fix them and install the supports. To check the design, you can first fasten the loop to only one self-tapping screw. All joints should be easy to fold and not jam.

Stage 6. It is necessary to create spacers that will improve the stability of the table. There is a diagram below. You need to take a loop and connect two bars of 530 mm each. The ends must be connected to the short part of the table legs.

This completes the assembly of the table.

Diy table: time and money costs

Leatherette will cost 400 rubles. (one sheet). Two sheets of plywood can be purchased for 700 rubles, 18 m of timber will cost 300 rubles. Two sheets of foam rubber can be bought for 2400 rubles. Piano loops are sold for 700 rubles. (all 14 pieces).

It will take no more than four hours to create the entire table. Such a table is ideal for a massage, given that the financial and time costs for it are minimal.

Knowledge and skillful hands alone are not enough for effective massage. Much depends on the correct massage table. Of course, an ordinary table or couch can be used for massage, but a specialized massage table is ideal for this. Many years of engineering research and serious clinical trials have made modern massage tables almost ideal:

  • in terms of ergonomics,
  • achieving maximum relaxation in the person being massaged,
  • the effect of the massage.

There are the following parameters that you need to pay attention to when choosing a massage table.

Table elements

A standard massage table consists of a frame, table top, headrest, legs and additional elements.

The frame is made from:

  • Become . Such models are very durable, durable and have a long service life.
  • Wood. These models are sustainable, reliable and stylish.
  • Aluminum. Often these are portable models of massage tables due to the lightness of the frame. They are reliable, resistant to moisture and mechanical damage.

The standard worktop is rectangular with possible tapering in the middle. Massage tables can have up to three sections. The number of sections is chosen based on the procedures and types of massage that will be carried out on the table.

  1. Single-section massage table
  2. The single-section massage table with a monolithic couch can be used for any type of massage. Additional accessories are used to increase operational capabilities. It has an increased carrying capacity up to 2 tons. The section is height adjustable.

    The two-section table has great functionality. It can be used for massage in any position - classic on the stomach, reclining, and even add a lymphatic drainage procedure. The first section is motionless. The second section is lifted manually, using a pneumatic spring or an electric motor. It will be useful for cosmetologists, osteopaths and spa masters.

    The most functional model of all. All three parts of the table can work independently of each other, be raised or lowered. On this massage table you can carry out any procedures related to massage, cosmetology, reflexology, acupuncture and spinal stretching.

Headrests are fixed and removable, which are attached to one side or from either end. They can have a standard or anatomical shape, which has small cutouts that allow you to put your head so that your face does not touch the upholstery. If not needed, the cutouts are closed with special plugs. The cutouts are mainly used for collar massage, allowing the person to be massaged to completely relax.

The number of legs varies from 4 to 8, where the first 4 are main, and the rest are auxiliary and are used for greater reliability.

Additional items include:

  • side armrests,
  • shelves for hands,
  • U-shaped pillows for adjusting the position of the neck and shoulders,
  • bolster under the back, for the neck, for the knees or feet,
  • shelves for towels, sheets, oils and other massage accessories.

Dimensions (edit)

For a comfortable massage of people of different body sizes, it is better to choose a wide table, but narrow enough for free access to any part of the body being massaged. In order to choose a suitable massage table by size, you need to come very close to the table and turn around in the lumbar region. In this position, the shoulders of the masseur should be aligned parallel to the thighs of the person being massaged, and the arms should be parallel to the spine.

Width

The most popular tables have a width of 70 or 76 cm. The narrower models are suitable for people of small stature, who are uncomfortable working at a massage table of a standard size. An interesting variant of the model tapering in the middle in the shape of an hourglass. This design will allow you to approach the person being massaged from the side much closer and at the same time will not cause him discomfort due to the rather wide ends of the table.

Length

The standard length of the massage table is 185 cm. Suitable for most people. Therefore, it is recommended for a beauty salon to take just such a table. Models with a special hole for the face lengthen the size of any table by 20 cm.Therefore, a standard massage table of this type will be 205 cm long.

What else is important to know about choosing the length of the massage table? Too short a table will create discomfort for the person being massaged, but will save on the width of the table, which will be convenient for an energetic and mobile masseur. Too long a table will only complicate the massage process.

Adjustable height

Most modern massage tables are height adjustable. For comfortable work, it is better to choose a table with an adjustment within the range of 60-80 cm. It is also important to pay attention to the time for adjusting the desired height. This process should not exceed 3 minutes. There are 2 types of height adjustment mechanisms:

  • Telescopic leg adjustment system. It can be found in aluminum massage tables. Outwardly, this mechanism is similar to the devices used in medical crutches. Changing the height with this mechanism is very simple, just press a special button and fix the table at the desired height.
  • Screw-down buttons on legs. With this mechanism, setting the desired height takes a little longer than the previous one, but no more than two minutes. The massage table, depending on the price, can have either one or 2 buttons, which must first be unscrewed to set the desired height, and then screwed to fix the height.

The weight

The weight of the massage table is best chosen based on its future use. For a massage therapist to go to a massage session together with his table, it is better to focus on a weight of 10 to 20 kg. It is also desirable that the design of the table is foldable for more convenient transportation. These models are more expensive than conventional wooden tables because they are made of aluminum. If the table is too heavy for the user, a special transport stroller can be used. If the table is not planned to be moved and transported, then the weight of the table does not play a special role.

Payload

The weight that the massage table can withstand on the surface and on individual parts must be selected with a margin of several times. The maximum weight of the person being massaged, summed up with the efforts of the masseur, should not exceed 1/3 of the value of the payload. Otherwise, a quick breakdown of the table is guaranteed.

Filler thickness

The thicker the filler, the longer the massage table will last and will not thin out over time. Also, this indicator affects the level of comfort of the person massaged during the massage. As a filler, polyurethane, foam rubber or a mixed type with a thickness of 5-7 cm is used. Any option should be durable and have good shock-absorbing properties.

Massage table upholstery

Today, upholstery does not play a role when choosing a massage table. Many people prefer to use separate removable covers that can be easily removed and washed. Usually, the upholstery for the massage table is made of artificial leather:

  1. Vinyl upholstery.
  2. A very popular and frequently used synthetic leatherette. In terms of its qualities, it is strong, durable, water and oil resistant. Its main disadvantage is that it wipes quickly with frequent use.

  3. Polyurethane upholstery.
  4. In terms of characteristics and properties, it looks more like real leather than other synthetic materials. It is soft and pleasant to the touch. Very durable in quality. Of the minuses - low resistance to water and oils, which, if they get on the upholstery, will quickly damage it.

  5. Arpatek.
  6. This is premium material. Used for upholstery of expensive models. Very hygienic. As well as natural leather, it cannot accumulate disease-causing surfaces on its surface, because the structure of the material is not porous and does not have microcracks.

The basic requirements for coating materials are that they must be:

  • durable,
  • resistant to abrasion and mechanical damage,
  • pleasant to the touch,
  • beautiful
  • not requiring special care.

Drive unit

The presence of a pneumatic spring or hydraulic drive will simplify the table setting and help to change the table height right during the massage, which will increase the wear period of the legs. When choosing a massage table, it is important to take into account that the electric motor increases the price of the table by 50%.

Cable system

It is recommended to choose portable massage tables with this system, which is also known as tensor cable system. It is needed to make folding massage tables more stable and reliable, fixing the legs and preventing the table from moving forward or backward.

Guarantee

When buying a massage table, make sure you get a branded a guarantee term for at least 1 year... Some manufacturers provide a warranty up to 36 months.

It is important to know that massage tables, as a rule, cannot be exchanged and returned. An exchange of a model or a refund of the money paid is possible only within 14 days from the date of purchase of the goods and only if the examination proves that the manufacturer or seller is to blame for the appearance of defects.

Features of choosing a folding portable table

The portable table is intended for visiting specialists (massage therapists, cosmetologists, chiropractors, osteopaths, depilation masters). a non-professional surface is contraindicated for massage. Not only will the massage be ineffective, but there may be problems with the spine and lower back of the person being massaged. Portable tables can be folded into a suitcase, easily carried and placed in the trunk of a car.

When choosing a folding table, you need to make sure:

  • that it simply unfolds into working position;
  • stable, motionless and reliable in the open position;
  • withstands the required load (weight of the person being massaged and the masseur);
  • easily adjustable in height from 65 to 90 cm;
  • width no less table 60 cm... and no more 70 cm.
  • height table is 180-190 cm.
  • easily transported.

The weight

The weight folding table should not exceed 15 Kg... The weight of the folding massage table depends on the material from which it is made:

  • The CFRP table weighs about 7 kg.
  • The duralumin table weighs about 10 Kg.
  • The steel table weighs about 20 Kg.

Additional accessories

Depending on the configuration, the folding table may have additional accessories:

  • headrest (should be easy to attach to the table and adjust the angle of inclination);
  • armrests;
  • roller;
  • holes for the face;
  • protective caps on the legs (to prevent possible damage to the floor covering).

Sections in folding massage tables

Have portable massage tables can be no more than two sections: the main and lifting... The folding table parts and accessories are not sections.

Whether you are a beginner or a massage specialist, having the right massage table is the key to your success. The workplace of any foreman must meet certain requirements that contribute to comfortable work. A regular couch will not work because it often lacks a headrest with an opening for the face. Because of this, a person has to lie for an hour in one position with his head turned to the side, and after the session feel discomfort from a stiff neck. The client should always be comfortable, because the comfort and quality of the master's work is a guarantee that the person will continue to turn to you for the services of a masseur. Therefore, you need to know how to choose a professional massage table.

Stationary tables are large enough. Due to their heavy weight, it is problematic to move them, therefore this type of equipment is used more often in specialized clinics and salons. According to the standard, stationary tables have a comfortable headrest, the position of which can be changed in accordance with the wishes of the visitor and the zone chosen for the massage. This work equipment is of high quality, because made from hard wood and durable metals, which explains the high cost.

Folding tables are quite popular among private massage therapists, those who take at home. This choice is based on the low cost of the model and ease of transportation. This type of working device is relatively small (no more than 20 kg) and has a mechanism that allows it to fold in a certain way. The position and height of the legs, which also fold out, can be adjusted, thanks to which the fold-out table stands firmly even on a rough surface. The folding and unfolding tables are made from inexpensive metals and medium quality wood.

A simpler option for a portable design is a massage couch. They are lightweight, inexpensive and do not contain additional mechanisms. Some models can fold in half.

Representatives of these categories of work equipment can be used for any type of massage.

Advantages

Most buyers choose folding massage tables, which is convenient for home-visiting masseurs. The main advantages of a folding workstation:

  • Thanks to the sturdy aluminum support, the device can withstand over 200 kg;
  • Aluminum is resistant to corrosion damage;
  • The wooden support is sustainable and more environmentally friendly;
  • Thin coating helps to reduce the weight of the fixture;
  • It has the ability to fold compactly;
  • Can be installed anywhere;
  • The main sections are adjustable as necessary;
  • The package contains removable armrests and a headrest with a plug for the head hole;
  • Have a warranty card.

For work in a humid environment, in order to avoid early damage to the equipment, a special folding bamboo model was created.

When a specialist has a large flow of clients, which often happens in massage parlors, it is better to give preference to stationary tables, because:

  • Withstand weight up to 1000 kg;
  • They have a large number of sections, due to which the effect of the massage increases;
  • There is a holder for massage and cleaning products;
  • The lifting of the structure is carried out by means of a foot pedal, which is convenient in work;
  • There are a wide variety of designs.

There are massage tables for pregnant women and obese people. There is also an opportunity to purchase massage places for children.

Probable problems

When choosing a massage table, buyers face some problems. Each category has its own list of disadvantages. Folding models have the following weaknesses:

  • Rope cages are unstable under heavy load. If the weight is unsuccessfully moved, the table may fold in half.
  • These frames prevent the specialist from moving freely during work.
  • The lack of a plug in the face hole can be unpleasant for the client.
  • Any extra sections increase the weight of the fixture and make the structure less stable.
  • The 20-kilogram couches are difficult to carry, and the 12-kilogram ones indicate the low quality of the design and its unreliability.
  • Too wide dimensions make transporting the table more problematic.
  • Poor quality upholstery brings discomfort to the client. Inexpensive materials can cause the patient to sweat or feel cold.
  • Multi-unit adjustable feet quickly lose their reliability and are prone to breakage.
  • Not suitable for a large flow of people - materials wear out and deteriorate quickly.

When using stationary structures, the following problems are encountered:

  • There is often no lifting mechanism.
  • If a lifting device is present, then without an electric motor, which complicates the work of the master.
  • Most models do not have wheels, which makes moving the table difficult.

For massage parlors with a large number of visitors, it is better to purchase several tables of each type.

Which one is better

A good quality portable massage table should have:

  • A small surface in width;
  • Stable metal frame;
  • One-knot adjustable legs;
  • High quality upholstery;
  • Headrest with cap;
  • Only basic sections with no frills;
  • Carrying case.

When choosing stationary massage equipment, pay attention to the fact that:

  • The surface of the table should be narrow;
  • There should be a stable X-frame with an electric motor for convenient adjustment of the lifting height;
  • The headrest must have an adjustment mechanism;
  • The coating on the massage table must be of high quality;
  • There must be wheels on legs to be able to change the position of the table;
  • A stand for disposable diapers and massage aids must be present.

It is better to choose stationary equipment with a large number of sections and an electric drive for ergonomics.

How to choose a massage table

The main criteria for choosing massage equipment are technical characteristics and properties during operation.

First you need to decide where you will receive your visitors. If you are going to get an official position in a specialized hospital, then it is better to give preference to inpatient models. For frequent practice, folding models are suitable.

Next, pay attention to the material of the upholstery. The client will be most comfortable on soft fabric or leather upholstery with cotton admixtures. On such a surface, bulges or folds formed during the massage are least felt.

It is better to choose a filler of medium hardness. So that the visitor does not sink into the depths of the massage surface and does not feel painful sensations from the filler during the intensive work of a specialist.

It is equally important to familiarize yourself with the stability parameter. Stationary tables have a solid steel structure or a combination of construction, which contributes to a good fixation of the equipment. When purchasing folding models, you should check the support. The table should not wobble and creak when exposed to it.

It is also necessary to familiarize yourself with the list of manufacturers and the characteristics of their products. This is necessary in order not to fall for the tricks of some sellers who offer to buy low quality models, passing them off as products of expensive foreign firms. The package must include a warranty card and a certificate stating that the equipment is intended for medical purposes.

Characteristics to consider when choosing

Massage devices have several important criteria to consider when purchasing.

The width of the table surface should be in the range of 50-80 cm. The standard width is about 75 cm. This is due to the fact that with large tabletops, the massage therapist will experience inconvenience in working, which will affect the quality of the massage. The advantage of narrow massage tables is the presence of adjustable armrests.

The range in which the length of the tabletop varies is 180-220 cm. The most optimal size is 185 cm, because the client must fit full-length on the table.

The height parameter affecting the comfort and quality of the masseur's work should be between 55 and 85 cm.

There are 3 types of mechanism for adjusting the legs of the massage table:

  • Telescopic legs are attached to tables with steel frames. A special button is used to select the height.
  • Twisting legs are attached to tables with wooden frames.
  • Stationary massage structures are equipped with a hydraulic lifting height control system.

Massage tables come in the shape of a rectangle or hourglass. The latter are more convenient because allow in the process of carrying out the procedure to approach the client at the distance necessary for the master.

The more complex the table structure, the more sections it has. Most models have no more than 3 sections. The simplest version of the table is one-section. It has no moving parts. There are also two-piece models equipped with a lifting mechanism in the headrest or on the side of the legs. The three-section table provides a separation of the surface into two movable parts and an adjustable headrest. Such equipment helps to take the positions necessary for massage. But their cost is much higher.

When buying a device, you should pay attention to the carrying capacity parameter. Basically, all massage devices can support 200 kg. But you should not sit too abruptly on the tabletop or jump off it. This can lead to loosening of the legs and early equipment malfunction.

Movement is also important. When the massage table is heavy enough, legged wheels are needed to facilitate the transport of the equipment.

In stationary models, additional accessories in the form of a pedestal or holder are required, on which massage oils, pillows, rollers and disposable sheets will be stored.

A warranty card for medical equipment is required. Basically, the warranty is issued by the manufacturer's company for 3 years from the date of purchase of the product. If a device malfunction occurs during the warranty period, the manufacturer is obliged at the expense of the company to ensure the replacement of non-working parts or the entire structure. For repair work, the product is accepted only in packaging from the manufacturer's company when the buyer provides a warranty card. All repair manipulations after the expiration of the period indicated in the warranty card are paid by the buyer. Soft parts are not covered by the warranty. If you try to repair the mechanism yourself, the warranty becomes invalid.

Manufacturers

Massage tables are manufactured by domestic and foreign companies. Table manufacturers are guided by a different approach to the manufacture of goods. Today, models of massage devices combine excellent quality and relatively low cost.

Prestigious beauty salons and massage centers can afford equipment from the Italian manufacturer Anatomico, which have been tested by the best doctors throughout the country. The table has a discreet, simple design. It is made of an aluminum frame combined with wood. The upholstery is made of premium material.

The domestic manufacturer DFC, in tandem with Chinese colleagues, is working on the production of specialized equipment for sports and medical complexes. Functional folding devices combine quality materials and stylish design with a variety of colors.

The Finnish company FysioTech specializes in the manufacture of equipment for physiotherapists' offices. Thanks to laser cutting technology, the body of the product is more stable. Manufacturers issue a 10-year warranty when purchasing their products.

The American manufacturer USMedica produces equipment that improves the physical and psychological state of the body. The development used modern technologies and designs. The company delivers the goods in the shortest possible time.

The Japanese company Yamaguchi develops massage equipment and beauty machines that have a fashionable design and are equipped with a variety of electronic devices. They also differ in that they are easy to wash, and delivery is carried out at the expense of the company.

Gelioks massage products from a Russian manufacturer have built-in electric motors from German partners. The carrying capacity is 800 kg. The upholstery is made of Vowalon eco-leather.

Massage tables are an integral part of the successful and high-quality work of each specialist. The main parameters that you should pay attention to when buying massage equipment are the width and length of the table top, the presence of additional sections and accessories, the possibility of transportation, the availability of a warranty card and the manufacturer's company.

How long has the art of massage been around? Probably, back in the Stone Age, some healer in a fox's skin (earned it!) Was kneading the backs of his fellow tribesmen. Have you also mastered the basic manipulations and even got the crust of a masseur? It's time to go to the next level, make money! True, patients of the twenty-first century want to receive procedures in a comfortable environment. It's too early to buy expensive equipment for a beginner manual, but making a massage table with your own hands is just right. It is better if it is foldable: most of the sufferers will have to go home.

We offer instructions for making such a massage table

  • The main requirement for a massage table is that a person of any size should easily sit on it. The masseur also needs free "access to the body" so that the corners of the structure during work do not rest against his stomach.
  • The massage table must be strong and withstand a minimum load of 250 kg. Experts know what efforts need to be made for the effectiveness of treatment - a weak structure and a couple of sessions will not withstand. By the way, the patient's safety should be remembered. The table frame is usually made of lightweight metal or hardwood. The average weight of the product is about 15-20 kg.
  • The bed must be ergonomic. If the patient is in an uncomfortable position, tense, then there will be little sense from the procedures. Women still often, instead of relaxing, think how not to spoil their makeup. Therefore, the cutout for the face in this situation is not a whim, but an absolute necessity.
  • The quality of the filler is of great importance. The best option in our case would be to use foam rubber or high density polyurethane. Mixed filler gives good results.

Organizational stage of work

The model you see in the picture looks complicated at first glance. In fact, the design is simple, reliable, and besides, it can be easily folded and placed in the trunk of a car.

Instructions for making a massage table

Assembling the table top of the massage table

The task of how to make a massage table with our own hands, we will begin to solve with the manufacture of a tabletop. We mark segments with dimensions of 600x900 mm on two pieces of plywood. We cut out the blanks with a jigsaw. We clean the ends with an emery cloth wrapped around a wooden block of a suitable shape. Even better if you have a sander.

On one of the blanks, we draw and cut out an oval hole for the face, measuring 180x110 mm. Roundings can be removed using a plate, a pan lid - which is suitable along the radius.

Drawings of two halves of the countertop

Next comes the frame for the table top. We cut four pieces of 900 mm long from a 20x50 mm bar, and four pieces of 560 mm each. We connect the blanks on self-tapping screws 45 mm long so that we get two frames with dimensions of 600 by 900 mm along the outer edge. Holes for fasteners with a depth of 2-3 mm should be drilled in advance, otherwise the timber under the screws may crack. Having assembled the frames, we fasten the covers to them using nails or self-tapping screws 20 mm long.

Upholstery for table top halves

Now we will think about how to make the massage table comfortable for the patient. Although the Japanese say that a bed made of pure gold will not help a patient, this proverb is unfair to our product. So, we put a layer of glue on the countertop, put two sheets of foam rubber on top. We are waiting for the glue to dry, cut off the excess foam rubber around the edges. Carefully cut out the oval for the face.

Table top upholstery

Now we put artificial leather on the foam rubber. Pulling on the material, we wrap the edges over the frame. We shoot with a stapler to the bar, first to the long sides, then to the short ones, observing a step of 10 mm. After that, we form the corners, trying to do without noticeable folds. On one of the short sides, we leave room for the loops.

Making table legs

From a 20x50 mm bar, according to the drawings, we cut two sets of blanks, six bars in each.

We collect the first two supports (part A). To do this, we fasten three parts with an overlap using self-tapping screws. We cut the bottom ends of the long workpieces at an angle of 41 degrees. If it is not possible to maintain such accuracy, we cut it down to a more obtuse angle, if only the cut on all four legs is the same. Here, when deciding how to make a massage table yourself without involving outside help, you can use an electric jigsaw with an inclined sole or a circular with an inclined disk.

Drawing and photograph of part A of the support

We connect the next two supports (parts B) in half a tree, choosing the grooves with a saw and a chisel. We cut their upper ends at an angle of 30 degrees.

Drawing and photograph of part B of the support

We assemble supports A with supports B on the piano hinges, securing them with self-tapping screws. We should have two identical sets of legs. We immediately check them for folding - no distortions are allowed.

We collect supports A with supports B

Assembling the massage table

On the inside of the frames, mark the lines for the four piano loops. We fasten the hinges with self-tapping screws, connecting the supports and the frames of the countertops. First, we screw the fastener into the middle hole, check if there are any distortions when folding the legs. If everything is in order, screw in the side screws.

We attach the supports to the frames of the countertops

We connect the two halves of the table, also on hinges, located at a short distance from the ends of the lids. We screw the hinges onto the self-tapping screws so that the halves fold easily.

We connect two halves of the massage table on loops

Making spacers

The detail that will give the massage table stability and determine its height is made of two bars 53 cm long. We connect their short ends with a piano loop, we get a spacer 1060 mm long. This value is approximate, you can determine the length along the way. The point here is that the shorter the spacer, the higher the table. We fasten the ends of the element to the short sides of the legs using the same hinges and screws.

We lay out the massage table and test it for strength. We install latches on the end sides so that the folded table retains its shape. We attach a carrying handle on top. The equipment is ready for use.

Looking at such a fashion item, I want to exclaim: we did it! After all, a beautiful and durable massage table is not only easy to use, but also inspires patients with subconscious confidence in the effectiveness of massage. Now, having looked at the creation of your own hands, you can safely start a private practice.
