Every man at least once in his life dreamed of having his own mini bar in the house. A place where alcohol, cola and other drinks would be scolded. It's not even about practical considerations. It's more of an aesthetic issue. But, as they say, the taste and color ...

The usual canister of 20 liters was taken as a basis. The canister is new (not used). A rather large hole was cut out in it, from the front.

The store bought the simplest loops, 2 pieces. They are fixed with rivets.

On the other hand, the cover is fixed with a clip. Everything is extremely simple.

Jumpers were cut from wood to size. There are 4 sections in total. The largest is the department for cola. There are five cans here. Then one section for cognac, the other of the same size, for soft drinks in a jar. And another large section for Jack Denels cognac.

For decor, a mesh door was made, a hook was installed to fix a bottle of cognac.

I will make a mini-bar from the most popular volume - a 20 liter canister. There will be shelves inside. During the manufacturing process, it occurred to me that it can be used not only as a mini-bar, but also as a first aid kit, tool cabinet, key holder and even a safe :)

What we need:

We wash and mark the cut line for the door

Rinse the canister well and dry. I washed it with water and blew it with air, in the absence of a compressor it is enough to leave it open until it dries completely. Before working with a grinder, make sure that there are no gasoline vapors inside, otherwise you risk not finishing the mini-bar and being left without eyebrows.

We remove the internal dimensions of the canister for the manufacture of shelves

I planned 2 compartments for bottles and 3 for glasses and mugs. We cut the boards and assemble the structure. This will require self-tapping screws.

I painted the inner walls of the canister with black matte paint.

To make the shelves fit into the overall style, I use the wood burning method. I burn with a gas burner. As soon as the wood has cooled, I varnish it.

Painting the outside of the canister

While the shelves are drying, I move on to painting the canister. Before painting, it is advisable to treat the canister with fine sandpaper to improve the adhesion properties of paint to metal.

Drill also a hole for connection to the support posts in each corner, 6mm from the edges 3mm wide and 8mm deep. When securing a shelf with a clip, put a piece of wood between the clip and the shelf itself so as not to damage it.
To precisely fit all the parts to each other and to the dimensions of the canister, careful grinding of the edges and joints will be required. Remember that sanding is best along the grain of the wood.
Finally, you need to cut out the vertical posts. To connect to the shelves using dowels, make holes 12 mm deep, 3 mm in diameter at the ends of the posts (then the fastening should be 20 mm in length).

Preparation and installation of the door

Choose the right hinge design. After measuring the width of the loops and determining where you want to attach them, make a mark using a nail or something sharp. One of the options: loops at a distance of 15 mm from the edge of the canister, at a height of 100 and 270 mm.
In order not to make a mistake with the location of the hole, start drilling using a thin drill bit, preferably 1 or 2 mm in diameter, and then install a thicker one that matches the purchased bolts.
Install the hinges and trim the seal if necessary. It is now easy to determine the location of the holes on the door by attaching the door and placing it in the desired position. Drill holes in the door as described above and attach the hinges to it.
Last but not least, attach the doorknob to the desired location. In this case, it is installed 45 mm from the edge and 180 mm from the lower edge of the door.
