Assemble a one-door wardrobe. How to assemble a wardrobe. Practical example. How to assemble sliding doors for a wardrobe

If you assemble a wardrobe with your own hands, you can save a significant amount of money. family budget. It’s great if the owner already has basic skills in working with furniture, but even beginners today will learn how to make a wardrobe with their own hands, even if at first glance the task seems extremely difficult. Described by us step-by-step master class, as well as drawings and photos of each stage will allow you to quickly and efficiently carry out installation.

What materials and tools are needed for assembly?

Today, the leading place among storage products is occupied by the wardrobe. It has a lot of functions, in addition, it is wide the lineup and size variation. The main advantage of sliding wardrobes is that they do not “eat up” extra bed to open doors. That is why, in the conditions of small-sized “Stalin” and “Khrushchev” buildings, when choosing between wardrobe and coupe, preference is given to the latter option.

Assembling a wardrobe at home does not seem like a hopeless task. To do this, you just need to have tools, material, and also become familiar with the technology.

Often, when you buy a product without paying for assembly services, the manufacturing company must include drawings of the product and a photo of it with the product. finished form. In addition, the accompanying documents list all the parts of the kit, which are numbered in order. Just by looking at the drawing, you can assemble the furniture step by step according to intuition.

In order to begin the assembly process, you should prepare the following tools:

  • building level(with its help, the evenness of the frame relative to the floor and walls is checked);
  • corner;
  • regular and rubber hammer;
  • Phillips and straight screwdriver;
  • yardstick;
  • Ruler and pencil;
  • screwdriver;
  • metal drill - to install an aluminum base;
  • wood drill.

You may also need a drill, jigsaw and sandpaper.

Important! Before starting work, be sure to check that the goods delivered to you are complete and that the proposed parts comply with the assembly diagram. Special attention pay attention to the fittings. This means that if the assembly diagram specifies the presence drawers, then the kit should include ball guides.

Step-by-step assembly of a sliding wardrobe

Before you begin, you need to familiarize yourself with the stages of work to be performed. Almost all coupes are assembled according to this algorithm:

  • base;
  • frame;
  • back wall;
  • shelves and guides;
  • compartment doors.

Only after passing through all stages is the implementation of all internal elements carried out. These include retractable baskets, rods, drawers, pantographs and hooks. Your attention step-by-step instruction passing each stage.

Base installation

The assembly of all types of coupes begins from the very bottom, which will subsequently bear the entire load of the structure. Find the part you need in the kit and place it in front of you. Take screwdrivers or a screwdriver, a hexagon, a tape measure and a marking pencil. Check that the screws and special plastic masking plugs are in place. The assembly proceeds according to the following algorithm:

  • On the part intended for the bottom, mark the place for installing the base.
  • You can use adjustable legs instead of plinth strips, but the location for them should also be noted.

  • Drill a hole for the fastener.
  • Attach the bottom with confirmations (corners) to the slats using a screwdriver and self-tapping screws.
  • Assemble cross supports for the plinth, which are designed for greater stability.
  • Note that some furniture options, for example, the Phoenix model, require adjustable legs. This is implemented simply: the plastic plugs are cut off with a knife, and the legs themselves are screwed into specially drilled holes in the bottom with a diameter of 10 mm.

Housing assembly

Study the diagram carefully, as future assembly of the case will ensure safe operation closet The stability of all internal elements depends on how well and reliably it is installed.

Important! In order for the cabinet assembly to be accurate, you need to check in detail the evenness of the floor surface in the place where the furniture will be located. To do this, use a building level. If during inspection you find differences, adjust the twisting legs.

Only then start assembling the box. Action plan:

  • It is better to carry out the entire assembly while standing, since it is almost impossible to install a perfectly fitted cabinet in a lying position. But it is important to remember that for final assembly you need to leave at least 100 mm to install the roof.
  • In those parts intended for the bottom, drill several holes and insert anchors. Rack strips will subsequently be mounted on these fasteners.
  • Installation of stand panels must be carried out by two people. The left side is inserted first, and while one of the partners holds it, the second one inserts the right side.
  • Then the middle post is installed, if it is provided for in the drawing, and the last one. The roof is being installed behind it. If you are assembling the product in a standing position, then it is better to secure the roof by placing it on confirmations or corners.
  • Do-it-yourself built-in wardrobes like maestro are much more difficult to assemble. It is better to work with them in a group of 3-4 people strictly according to the instructions.

Rear wall installation

In order to attach the back wall, you need to correctly select consumables and fasteners. Often, assemblers choose the wrong fasteners, so over time, the back sheet of fiberboard comes away from the frame.

Interesting! During times Soviet Union Fastening was carried out using nails, but this is not advisable.

Follow the following algorithm of actions:

  1. Place a sheet of hardboard behind the cabinet.
  2. Holding it with your hands, take short screws and use a screwdriver to screw them in every 10-20 cm around the perimeter. If the cabinet model has several elements that make up the back wall, then fasten them end-to-end using special furniture fasteners.

How to Install Shelves and Rails

So that over time you don’t have to disassemble the furniture and redo all the work from the very beginning, make sure that the frame is stable and reliable, then proceed to filling the insides with various functional elements: rods, shelves, drawers and guides.

Important! Before starting installation, make sure you have all the necessary fittings.

First of all, pay attention to the following nuances:

  • The shelves are fastened using self-tapping screws and corners. For this purpose, the parts already have drilled holes. Mark the distance between the shelves and attach them to the sides and the stand bar in the center.

  • DIY wardrobe doors are fastened quickly and easily. First, install the upper door rails, then the lower rails. We emphasize that the installation of these elements is carried out strictly along an ideal straight line. This directly determines whether the doors will move easily during operation.
  • A clothes rail is installed on special flanges. Usually they come included. If necessary, the excess pipe is sawed off with a hacksaw.
  • Fasten the mechanisms for the operation of the retractable elements, place them in place.

Final installation of doors

To sliding wardrobe The coupe was ready for use with my own hands; it was necessary to mount the doors.

Important! A sliding wardrobe is considered correctly assembled if the upper rails are attached at the same level with the front edge of the sides, and the lower roller blinds deviate from them by 1-15 mm.

  • The part of the doors that will move along the rear rail is installed first. Install it with a roller into the lower groove, and then into the upper one.
  • Repeat the manipulations with the second part.

Remember! Carry out all work carefully if you have the kit glass door. This part of the sliding wardrobe is one of the most expensive, so make sure that it does not break or fall out due to inept installation.

  • Completion is the installation of stoppers for the doors, which will not allow them to jump off the fashionable sliding system.

Important! Corner wardrobe they are mounted with their own hands according to the same scheme. The only difference between the corner model is that in this case doors can be used different types: coupe, standard or screen type. The latter are used to equip the corner part of the structure. Such furniture can be placed in the hallway or small living room, saving space and using the available space as efficiently as possible.

As you can see, assembling a fashionable wardrobe yourself is quite simple. A minimum of tools, care and precision in following instructions are required. Have you had experience making similar structures? Write in the comments.

Video: Instructions for assembling a sliding wardrobe with your own hands

Many of us are faced with the need to buy a wardrobe. The wardrobe model has become very popular. His door design extremely comfortable and keeps free space in the room. They are even used as partitions. There are two ways to solve this issue:

  • contact a company that assembles furniture;
  • order cabinet parts and assemble it yourself.

The second option, of course, will cost less than the first. But this process will require certain skills and abilities. It is very important to correctly measure all design parameters, think over the dimensions of all compartments and shelves, the height and width of the product. If you are ready to take on this job, then you need to figure out how to do it.

Preparatory stage

Step-by-step instruction

To do everything correctly, you must follow the instructions. Let's Let's look at the whole procedure in more detail.

Door installation

Be careful when working on doors. The ease of use of the door also depends on the quality of the profile. It is sold unassembled and consists of the following parts:

  • guides - rails;
  • base – bottom frame;
  • the side frames (C, H) act as door handles, and rollers and the upper frame are attached to them;
  • plastic and rubberized rollers;
  • stopper for the bottom guide;
  • a strip of pile, which is attached to the end of the door, serves to soften the impact of closing the doors;
  • silicone seal for attaching the mirror.

The sealant must be applied evenly and carefully over the entire length. The profile frames are attached at the top and bottom to the mirror, which is in a horizontal position. Next, the side frames are put on the mirror in a vertical position. The frames are connected to each other with self-tapping screws into prepared holes.

Door installation begins with fastening. We measure the attachment points at the bottom and top of the cabinet. The guides are attached with self-tapping screws with press washers, also in prepared holes. First install the top part, combining it with the side frames, then the bottom one. Use a level to avoid warping. Install a stopper to secure the door. We insert the door into the upper one and then lower it into the lower guide. The height and angle of the door can be adjusted using the lower rollers. Your closet is ready.

At each stage, pay attention to the assembly diagram for this model. To clarify all the difficult points, watch the video instructions. If you doubt your construction skills and design abilities, turn to the professionals.

Many people are familiar with the eternal problem of lack of space: everything is always out of place, the purchased cabinets are insufficient or do not fit. If you are facing these difficulties, it is time to customize the furniture for your room so that it perfectly suits your personal needs and requirements. Making furniture to order is too expensive, but you can assemble a built-in wardrobe with your own hands, saving a lot of money. In this article we will give you detailed instructions with drawings and assembly diagrams.

The main housing in Russia is small Khrushchev-type apartments, in which everyone square meter on account. Old Soviet wardrobes are very bulky and roomy - there are useless legs on the bottom, a dust collector on top and empty space, which is usually filled with a mezzanine. Our homemade wardrobe is free of these disadvantages, because it is located either in a niche or the entire height of the room, thus using every centimeter of space.

  • The main advantage is spaciousness and compactness. The useful volume of space is 2.5 times greater than that of conventional furniture.
  • Sliding doors are why we love sliding wardrobes. They are very practical and do not take up much space.
  • Beautiful design - the ability to make doors from a mirror, frosted glass, apply sandblasting patterns, stickers and use any other material to decorate sliding doors.
  • Possibility to zone a room using a partition from a closet. We also note that the use of full-length mirrors will have a good effect on the space of the room, making it larger and brighter.

The main disadvantage is the price: if you buy a wardrobe to order or in a store, it will not cost you at all cheap. However, it is quite possible to make a wardrobe with your own hands, the main thing is not to panic and follow the planned work plan.

Cabinet design

Before assembling the wardrobe, you need to finally decide on its drawing and location. Everything is individual here, and there can be no specific advice, just find a good place for the closet. This could be a closet, a niche in the wall, or just a corner in the room.

If free space is not limited, then choose the size of the cabinet according to the golden ratio rule, according to which the ratio of height and length should be 1.62.

Thus, if your ceiling is 2.5 m high, then it would be optimal to choose a cabinet length of 154 cm (250/1.62=154.3). The depth of standard furniture parts is usually 60 cm; there is no need to make it more, otherwise it will be inconvenient to get distant things from the upper shelves. Also note that everything internal parts should be at least 10 cm narrower due to the width of the doors.

When you decide on the installation location, you need to draw up drawings. Do detailed diagram cabinet and all shelves with dimensions on paper or on a computer (choose the Basis Cabinet or Excel program). Specialized programs will be able to give you with one button the number and dimensions of the required parts for cutting, which is very convenient.

When modeling interior shelves, you can’t do without your significant other, otherwise you’ll have to redo everything later. Modeling is one of the most important stages, which should be devoted to a separate topic, so now we will only briefly present our wardrobe project with dimensions.

Drawing of a built-in wardrobe in a niche

This wardrobe diagram is designed to be created in a closet with a beam at the top. Therefore, mirrored doors will not go all the way to the ceiling.

Filling

When creating shelves, we will use ordinary laminated chipboards light color. To fasten them we will use metal corners and self-tapping screws.

After calculating the materials for the cabinet, we bought necessary details and ordered cutting and edge processing on site:

  1. 3 parts 150x60 cm (horizontal);
  2. 2 parts 200x60 cm (vertical for walls);
  3. 1 vertical partition 135x60 cm;
  4. 3 vertical partitions for shelf compartments 32.5x60 cm;
  5. 1 horizontal sheet 150x30 cm for the shelf behind the beam;
  6. 3 partitions for a shelf behind a beam 30x40 cm.

The main thing here is not to make mistakes in the calculations, so before ordering parts, carefully study the drawing and calculate all the gaps.

Build process

Now about how to assemble a wardrobe with your own hands.

  • First, we laid the 150x60 piece on the floor and attached two side boards to it. By the way, if you have a plinth, it is better to remove it, otherwise you will have to cut the walls at an angle. Fastening took place using dowels to the wall and metal corners to the bottom board with self-tapping screws. Some people use plastic furniture corners for shelves, but they are not so reliable: a child will stand on the shelf and it will collapse.
  • Then we assembled the internal shelves separately: we connected 2 horizontal boards 150x60 (which will be above the bar) with a vertical piece 135x60 and three small transverse compartments 32.5x60.
  • The finished compartments were secured to the cabinet in the same way, using corners and screws. If you have access to the side walls, then you can use a Euroscrew for fastening - a popular furniture fastener that is used for tables and shelves.
  • Now all that remains is to make the upper shelves; we also prepared them separately from the outside. We attached three vertical partitions 30x40 every 50 centimeters to a horizontal board 150x30.

Note! If you are making a cabinet with top cover at full height, problems may arise with its fastening. In this case, leave the required height so that you can climb up with a hexagon from above or attach the cover to the corners from the inside.

As a result, we got 2 large compartments for hangers, where all outerwear, shirts, dresses, etc. will fit. Then there is 1 large shelf on one side, and the other side is divided into 3 small compartments. Above there is one wide shelf, which is divided into 3 narrow compartments against the wall. And at the very top there is a shelf for unnecessary things. Everything is shown in the photo below.

Door installation

Now about the most difficult part - the wardrobe. In order not to make a mistake with the size, it is better to buy them after assembling the frame. You can watch the assembly video mirror door from profiles:

It is not recommended to make the width of sliding doors more than 1 meter, so if the length of the cabinet is 154 cm, divide it in half: each door, roughly speaking, is 77 cm + an overlap of 2-4 cm so that there is no gap.
Calculation of wardrobe doors

Regarding the height of the doors, it is important to consider the height of the lining and wheels.

For example:

  1. 250 centimeters - ceiling height (or opening);
  2. 1.6 cm - thickness of laminated chipboard linings on top and bottom;
  3. The gap at the top and bottom is 1.5 cm for the wheels;

Total: 250-1.6-1.6-1.5-1.5 = 243.8 cm - the height of our doors. You should have side handle profiles of this height. The clearance figures may vary, it all depends on the profiles used, so read the instructions from their manufacturer.

Sliding door design
    • Since we are attaching the doors to the widened doorway of the pantry, we need to make a laminated chipboard gasket around the perimeter.
    • Now let's cut the required length of the door guides. They should be equal to the width of the cabinet inside and fit freely between the walls. They must be secured strictly level and parallel to each other. First, we attach the upper rail to self-tapping screws with a press washer, then the lower one. Be sure to insert the stoppers into the bottom track when the doors are closed.

  • When the guides are level, you can insert the door. The far door is first inserted into the top track and then lifted to fit into the bottom. The front door is inserted in the same way - first insert the top, then the bottom.
  • To adjust the doors, tighten the special bolt at the bottom with a hex key. If you tighten the bolt, the door will rise, if you unscrew it, it will lower. If the doors are parallel and adjusted, then everything will run like clockwork, but if they are installed incorrectly, then sometimes the upper rollers can pop out.
  • At this point, the installation of the wardrobe is completed; now you can hang hooks, secure the hanging rod and, if necessary, add drawers.

To finally figure out how to assemble a wardrobe with your own hands, the video lesson will tell you all the details during installation:

Conclusion

By doing all the work yourself, you will save 2-3 times more money than ordering a similar cabinet in a store, and you can also make it several times faster if desired. The main thing is to be careful and calculate every action before starting work. As they say, measure twice, cut once.

Actually on your own assemble a wardrobe not that difficult if you follow a certain sequence.

Assembling the body of a sliding wardrobe basic principles

Decide how you will assemble the wardrobe - in a lying or standing position

Take one of the outer cabinet walls and lift it as if you were lifting assembled wardrobe, please note that the height of the sliding wardrobe will be higher with an overhead roof.

If the side wall does not touch the ceiling at an angle, then the cabinet can be assembled in a lying position, which will make it easier to nail the fiberboard, and the sliding wardrobe will be quite simple to assemble.

Install end caps or mortise trims into the side walls

Before wardrobe assembly Arrange the parts in order of use during assembly, drive in the ends or screw the mortise supports into the side walls.

Why are tips or supports needed? If the side walls are installed directly on the floor, then when washing the floors, there will be direct contact of the chipboard with water and, accordingly, peeling of the edges and swelling of the chipboard will occur.

Install adjustable plastic supports

The plastic supports are the same as in kitchens and allow you to adjust the height of the wardrobe during assembly. In addition to this function, when the sliding wardrobe is loaded, the supports will prevent the bottom of the sliding wardrobe from falling and breaking.

Although there is another approach: the sides rest on the bottom of the cabinet, and the bottom on the base box, or place the bottom directly on the floor. You can also find such designs.

The size of the indentation of the supports from the rear edge of the bottom depends on the width of the plinth and is about 50 mm. A plinth is attached to the front supports with clips, everything is very similar to the one in the kitchen. By the way, the plinth is also an additional support for the bottom of the wardrobe.

The installation depth of the front supports depends on how much you want to “sink” the plinth, usually about 30 mm.

Sequence of assembling the wardrobe body

You must begin assembling the cabinet by connecting the side wall to the bottom. First, assemble the structure according to the drawing. This design already has a certain stability and rigidity. If you do not follow this rule, then the side walls of the wardrobe will tilt and the confirmations will tear out, breaking the bottom and partitions.

The last element to be installed is the cabinet roof.

Rice. 8. Installing a sliding wardrobe roof

Nailing the back wall of fiberboard to the wardrobe

Sequence of screwing the back wall when assembling a sliding wardrobe

The fiberboard is screwed around the perimeter of the cabinet, to the intermediate vertical walls and horizontal walls.

Before screwing the fiberboard, it is necessary to align the cabinet diagonally so that diagonal A=B. A maximum of 5 mm of diagonal discrepancy is allowed, otherwise there will be problems when installing drawers and sashes.

Start attaching the fiberboard along the top, check the diagonals. If the diagonals are uneven, level them by lightly pressing on the side wall.

After checking the diagonals, we fix one of the corners and check the diagonals again. If the diagonal has “gone”, then unscrew the corner and set the diagonals again. Further screw the fiberboard along the perimeter of the cabinet and the axes of the internal filling parts. Screwing pitch 150 -200mm.

In the lower guide it is enough to make 2-4 holes along the axis.

Attaching the upper and lower guides for compartment doors

First, we attach the top rail so that it does not protrude beyond the side wall of the wardrobe.

The closet plays an important role in any interior. It is not surprising that strict requirements are imposed on it: do not take up too much space, be spacious, have sufficient quantity shelves and drawers. The models on the market do not always fully satisfy individual wishes.

For apartment owners non-standard layout It can be even more difficult to choose an option that fits into the room. In this case, you can order a cabinet from specialists who will take into account all your wishes regarding the design and internal contents.

Unfortunately, this option is not affordable for everyone. Then the best solution the problem will be the use own hands and ingenuity, because assembling a cabinet yourself is not at all difficult!

Preparatory stage

For each the premises will be suitable your type of construction, so it’s worth familiarizing yourself with the main ones.

A cabinet with a closed front is a straight model with hinged doors. To open them, you need to provide additional space; do not forget about this if you are making a closet for the hallway.

A cabinet with an open front has no doors, and its contents are in plain sight. It makes certain demands on order.

The wardrobe doors are mounted on a rail mechanism and open, moving to the sides. There are designs with top and bottom rails; which one to choose is a matter of taste.

Ideal design for built-in wardrobes

A corner cabinet fills a corner. Suitable for any size room, as long as it is square or similar in shape.

By selecting suitable design, you can begin to create a project for the future cabinet. Since this piece of furniture lasts for many years, it is worth considering what functionality may be required from it. It is better to build a drawing on whatman paper, recording all measurements there.

Decide on the location and dimensions of the cabinet. If there is a niche in the room - ideal, but if it is not possible to build it in, choose a place where nothing will interfere with it.

Think it over internal filling: location and number of shelves and drawers, their sizes, additional elements like mezzanines or interior lighting.

Don't forget about choice exterior finishing, jewelry. The colors “oak”, “alder”, “beech” are the most popular today. Or you can choose wood with interesting drawing and leave the original pattern. Get creative and decorate the doors with a carved pattern.

Materials

The material can be natural wood, plywood, MDF or chipboard - they are all used by furniture manufacturers.

Wood is environmentally friendly, does not require additional decorations, and is convenient to work with. Wooden cabinet will last for many years and will look solid and impressive. Ideal choice for interior in classic style.

Plywood consists of glued veneer sheets (birch or trees are used coniferous species). This one is cheap practical material Suitable for making almost any furniture. It is best to choose laminated plywood (FOF brand).

Chipboard ( particle board) - the cheapest and most common option. When assembling your own closet, this is usually what you use. Short-lived.

Self-adhesive melamine film is also useful for processing the side edges.

The diameter of the rod must be at least 22 mm. The easiest way is to buy it in a specialized store. You can also buy pens there.

Tools

  • Ruler, tape measure, pencil and others for taking measurements and drawing.
  • Level.
  • Jigsaw or hacksaw for cutting.
  • Screwdriver or drill and screwdriver.
  • Glue.
  • Ratchet key.
  • Iron for gluing the edging film.
  • Accessories. Each door opening mechanism has its own kit.
  • Confirmations for the cabinet from Chipboard is better buy 7 cm long with a diameter of 0.5 cm.

Progress

First of all, measurements are taken and a drawing of the future cabinet is constructed. The final result depends on a correctly drawn up drawing, so approach it with all seriousness.

It’s not difficult to make cabinet doors with your own hands, the main thing is to correctly calculate the dimensions. If its vertical height is less than the height of the opening, the door will not completely close it, and if it is more, it will not fit. When finding the horizontal dimension, we must not forget about the fastening elements: they will add a few millimeters to it. The width of the doors should be ~3 mm less than the opening.

Now you need to mark the placement of the fastening bolts on the sawn parts and drill all the holes.

Assembly begins with installing the bottom and attaching the walls to it. Make sure that the assembled cabinet fits into the allocated space and that other furniture will not interfere with the opening of the doors. If you are making a wardrobe, the guides are installed at this stage.

The location of drawers and shelves is outlined, shelf supports and guides are installed. They must be strictly parallel to avoid distortion.

It's time to install the top shelves and roof. A gap of ~7 cm is left between the ceiling and roof for the installation of confirmations. Fastening is done manually and finally tightened with a ratchet wrench.

The side shelves are attached to 4 confirmata (two on each side); in some cases, dowels (small wooden cylinders) are used. One end of the dowel is inserted into the cabinet wall, and a shelf is put on the other.

The last step is to install the doors. Before installation, attach the handles with the curve outward. Especially important for sliding doors correct installation mechanism. Take your time, act carefully.

It's time to start finishing touches. Treat the sections with decorative film and decorate the facade. Install mirrors, interior lighting and other elements.

Tricks and nuances

Rely on existing schemes cabinets, designing your own.

A corner cabinet requires more care in design and assembly than a straight cabinet, so it may be too complicated for an inexperienced person.

If you lack experience, it is better to entrust cutting out the parts to a master. His hand will not tremble, and the cuts will be smooth and neat.

To avoid getting a part smaller than needed, consider the thickness of the saw. The wall thickness must be at least 18 mm. Otherwise, the strength of the structure will be insufficient.

While working on the drawing, pay attention to the curvature of the floor. If the floor is not level, gaps may appear between the doors. To avoid this, adjust the installation awnings for a swing mechanism, and change the height of the wheels for a sliding mechanism.

Guides for sliding doors should be parallel. Be extremely careful when marking and installing guides for drawers and shelves.

Drill holes for confirmations symmetrically. Use the correct size drill bit. Exact amount confirmations depends on the number of parts. The confirmations are covered with plugs matching the color of the structure.

Installing a mirror begins with installing a seal around the perimeter. The film is glued to the chipboard sections using an iron. Iron it with a cloth, pressing it as tightly as possible. The edges can be trimmed with a regular knife.
