Hygienic shower with faucet under the washbasin. Faucet with hygienic shower. Criteria for choosing faucets for a sink with a hygienic shower

The culture of hygiene is developing by leaps and bounds. The phrase “cleanliness is the key to health” is relevant at any time. A person always wants to keep his body clean. A mixer equipped with a hygienic shower, designed for installation in close proximity to the toilet, can replace a full-fledged bidet.

Positive aspects of a hygienic shower

It is believed that taking a shower too often causes as much harm as neglecting it. The skin is the first to suffer from constant exposure to soap products (shampoos, shower gels, soaps). It dries out and becomes more sensitive to various irritants. That is why Europeans introduced a bidet bowl into the list of the most necessary elements of everyday life.

A bidet takes up quite a lot of space, so installing it in a small bathroom is often impossible

Layout modern apartments in our country allows the installation of sanitary equipment of any type. Bathrooms in residential buildings European type are planned to be quite spacious. But what about the residents of “Soviet” type buildings? For such connoisseurs of personal hygiene, there is also a solution: installing a faucet equipped with a hygienic shower head, or a toilet with a built-in bidet function.

Most often in multi-apartment “Khrushchev” buildings you can find a hygienic shower. This popularity is due to several points that distinguish it favorably from a stationary bidet:

In addition, a wide range design solutions faucet manufacturers, will allow you to choose an option hygienic shower for any style from retro to .

Toilets with bidet function

In order to save space, manufacturers of sanitary ceramics began producing compacts with a bidet function. This allows you to avoid installing a hygienic bowl, but has some features and installation difficulties.

Toilet with bidet function

Toilets with a built-in hygienic shower head have a much more complex mechanism than conventional compacts. Some of them are equipped with retractable water supply nozzles and buttons that operate them. A little simpler - a dedicated pipe with nozzles that work when you press the release button.

Plumbing equipment with a built-in bidet involves connecting a cold and hot water supply system to it. Of course, you can only get by cold water, but will the effect of maximum comfort be achieved when using such a device?

Diagram: operating principle of a toilet with a bidet function

Progress does not stand still. Among simple plumbing fixtures you can find very unusual designs. These include a toilet lid with a built-in faucet for hygienic purposes. These seats are also equipped with a hair dryer and control unit. The prices for such products speak for themselves, but this may become an indispensable assistant for people with disabilities.

Advice! When choosing complex plumbing fixtures, you should give preference to proven brands that guarantee product quality.

The main disadvantage of plumbing fixtures with built-in bidets, hair dryers and other benefits is the very high cost of the product. But it cannot compare with the degree of comfort that these devices provide.

Types of hygienic systems for toilets

Among all the systems equipped with a hygienic shower that can be used to equip a bathroom, there are several main types:

Wall mounted shower

The most common type of equipment is a mini bidet. The system includes 4 main components:

  • mixer;
  • shower hose;
  • watering can-bidet;
  • wall mount.

Wall-mounted hygienic shower for the bathroom

As a rule, the mixer is installed with the marking “for bidets and showers.” They do not have a drain for filling the bathtub and when started, the water is directed directly to the shower system. Based on the installation principle of the mixer this type mini-bidets can be divided into 2 more subtypes:

  • with a concealed-mounted mixer, when on the wall surface there is only a joystick for controlling the water supply and a separate outlet for the bidet watering can hose;
  • with mixer open type– the mixer-hose-watering can combination is in an open space.

Open type mixer

Bidet attachment for toilet

Quite a rare system. It is an installation mounted directly on the toilet bowl. The assortment of faucets in supermarkets includes a complete set of:

  • a platform for installing a mixer, equipped with a mount for a watering can;
  • mixer;
  • shower hose;
  • shower head;
  • pipes for supplying hot and cold water.

Bidet attachment for toilet

The faucet is similar to the model designed for washbasins. The difference is the spout. Instead of an aerator from which water flows into the sink, the product has threaded connection. A hygienic shower is screwed onto it during installation.

Combination washbasin mixer

This system is common. The mixer installed on the washbasin has an additional outlet, which connects it to the mini-bidet shower system. The pipe is located on the bottom of the product in close proximity to the water supply hoses. Sometimes the manufacturer equips the mixer with a special adapter, in the form of a tee. It is screwed onto the spout, and a shower hose is mounted to the auxiliary hole.

Connecting a mini shower to the main mixer

When choosing a hygienic shower system, you need to think through all the details. If the renovation of the bathroom has already been completed, and the user has decided to equip the room with a mini-bidet with a built-in faucet, you must be aware that the area in which installation work will be carried out will have to be dismantled. In this case the best option there will be an output of an open mixer.

Advice. The hose for the bidet system is not very long. To avoid twisting and creases, 100-125 cm will be enough. Depending on the location of the mixer.

In some cases small bathroom equipped with a small washbasin, no more than 45 cm wide. The most convenient would be a corner sink installed above the toilet. This trick will not only allow you to install a faucet with a mini-bidet system, but will also make it possible to carry out other hygiene procedures.

Small washbasin with mini shower

Functional features of the bidet watering can

Many people don't see the difference between shower heads and mini bidets. Unlike its shower prototype, the hygienic head has a number of design features.

Important! It is strictly not recommended to leave hygienic systems under pressure. This is especially harmful for the watering can. A large number of valves and connecting systems may not withstand constant pressure and the product will fail. After use, be sure to turn off the water with a mixer or other shut-off devices.

Installation of a faucet with a hygienic shower head on a sink

This type of work is not much different from installing a regular washbasin faucet. There shouldn’t be any particular difficulties if you follow the algorithm for performing the actions. Possible self installation. For this we need:

  • faucet equipped with an additional outlet for a shower hose;
  • hygienic shower system (hose, watering can, mount);
  • installation kit for installing the mixer (mounting pin, nut, clamping ring, seals), which is supplied with the mixer;

Hygienic shower installed on the sink

  • flexible hoses for connecting to water supply;
  • taps for shutting off cold and hot water;
  • adjustable wrench (preferably small);
  • set of open-end wrenches.

Follow the installation algorithm:

Important! Don't neglect the seals. Their absence will lead to leakage.

During the installation process, use only high-quality connecting hoses and seals. The period of continuous operation of the entire system as a whole depends on them. It is better to immediately replace the hoses for supplying water to the mixer with which the product was equipped with better ones. This way you will protect yourself from the flood.

Installation of a concealed faucet

Installing a hygienic system with a hidden faucet is much more difficult than installing it on a sink. Here you cannot do without drilling the wall or making a special box in which the inside of the product will be hidden.

Concealed mixer

It is best to entrust work of this complexity to a specialist, but if you try, you can do the installation yourself. To carry out such work, several main stages can be distinguished:

Advice! When purchasing a concealed faucet, pay attention to the presence of a mounting box. With its help you can make the installation process easier.

Install a manual bidet taking into account the physiology of each user. Do not install the mixer too low or too high. To achieve maximum comfort from using the system, check the ease of use. A person should not reach for a faucet or watering can.

A hygienic shower is an additional comfort that you can easily create with your own hands

The mini bidet system for the toilet is very important element plumbing equipment. It will allow you to perform hygienic procedures without moving to the bathtub or shower. A hygienic shower is a very convenient and functional addition to the basic elements of plumbing.

Choosing a mixer for a concealed hygienic shower or a wall-mounted model is quite simple. To do this, it is enough to familiarize yourself with key features designs of such showers and evaluate their advantages and disadvantages. But installing a hygienic shower on your own is already more difficult - but even here, guided by the tips given in the article, you can handle it.

Benefits of hygienic showers

Faucets with hygienic showers are gradually included in the list of equipment that, if not necessary, is highly desirable for installation in bathrooms. And if in private houses with spacious spaces there is enough space to install a full-fledged bidet, then in public buildings and in small apartments there is no alternative to such a shower.

Such devices have a number of advantages:

  1. Using a stream of warm water, the intimate areas of the body are cleaned much more effectively after using the toilet than using toilet paper.
  2. The skin, and most importantly, the mucous membranes are not injured, since friction during cleaning will be minimal.

  1. The impact of a stream of water from the shower can be regarded as a kind of massage that helps activate blood circulation in the pelvis.

According to statistics, those who use a hygienic shower instead of toilet paper on an ongoing basis are much less likely to experience diseases such as hemorrhoids, prostatitis, rectal erosion, etc.

  1. Another advantage is the effective maintenance of the sanitary condition of the restroom. A stream of water from the shower immediately flushes all the impurities into the toilet, so you can dispense with the bucket of “fragrant” used paper.

  1. Finally, hygienic showers with mixer taps are convenient from a utilitarian point of view. A sufficiently long elastic hose allows you to effectively wash your plumbing fixtures. In addition, this design is great for washing children's potties, cat litter boxes, floor buckets, etc.

Well, the main advantage is that both the wall-mounted and, especially, the built-in hygienic shower have very compact dimensions. Thanks to this, it can fit even in the most compact bathroom, where there is only room for a toilet. This is how such products compare favorably with classic bidets.

Design Features

Types of hygiene devices

To treat intimate parts of the body after bowel movements, devices are used. different types. Each of them has its own characteristics, so in this section I will only give brief description main groups:

Type Peculiarities
Shower toilet The most complex and expensive design. In fact, it is a hybrid of a traditional toilet and a bidet. For a hygienic shower, a special nozzle is used, which is built into the bowl.
A compromise option for those who do not want to completely change the toilet, but only expand its functionality. It is a cover to which hoses with cold and hot water. Inside the lid there is a special nozzle, which is used when carrying out hygiene procedures.

The disadvantage of this solution is the high price, as well as the fact that you cannot find a lid for every toilet model.

Shower Hose for Sink Faucet If the toilet has a sink, then instead of a standard faucet, you can install a model with a long (1 m or more) hose. Thanks to the presence of such a hose, you can use water from the sink to perform hygiene procedures.

True, this solution is largely a compromise, since using similar system on an ongoing basis is not so convenient. But as additional option– has a right to exist.

Separate mixer with shower hose From my point of view - the most effective and convenient solution. The basis is built-in or wall mixer to which the hose is connected. A shower nozzle is attached to the end of the hose, which is used for hygienic treatment.

It is the last option, described in the table, that is the most common. So in the future I will analyze it.

Essential elements

A hygienic shower installed in toilets consists of several basic elements:

  1. The central part of the structure is the mixer, used to regulate water supply and select its temperature. The reliability of the entire system directly depends on the choice of mixer, so a separate subsection will be given to the description of this part.

  1. Shower hose – flexible tube connecting the mixer to the shower head. Optimal length hose for a hygienic shower - from 1.2 to 2 m. This part can be made of either plastic or rubber with a decorative braid. Polymer models are more durable, but they have less fracture resistance, so you need to use such hoses carefully.

  1. Shower fittings - various hooks and clips, which are placed on the wall near. They can be made of bronze, brass or steel with a decorative coating that protects against corrosion. Silumin clamps are usually supplied with showers from the economy segment, but their service life is limited due to their low strength.

Sometimes the bracket is combined with a pipe for connecting a hose. In this case, it is installed simultaneously with the water supply system and connected to the mixer.

  1. Shower head– attached to the end of the hose, ensures spraying of water flow. They differ not only in design, but also in functionality. The most useful functions are switching the flow (from stream to small drops) and adjusting the pressure directly on the nozzle. It is highly advisable to purchase models that can be turned on with the same hand with which you hold the watering can - it’s very convenient!

Faucet types

The mixer, as I mentioned earlier, is used to regulate the pressure and temperature of the water flowing from the water supply into the hygienic shower head.

Today the following types of mixers are used:

  1. Two-valve– the cheapest, easy to install and maintain. In fact, they are a pair of taps with rotary axle boxes, connected respectively to pipelines with hot and cold water. The selection of the optimal water temperature is carried out by alternately rotating the flywheels on the taps, but with pressure changes in the system, the temperature can change unpredictably.

  1. Single lever– make up the bulk of mixers for this category of plumbing equipment. Here you can find both an external hygienic shower with a mixer and a model for hidden installation, in which only the handle for adjusting the pressure and temperature is visible on the wall.
    The central element of such a mixer is either a cartridge or a ceramic axle box connected to the water supply pipes. Single-lever models are more expensive and more difficult to install, but are much more convenient to use.

Sometimes catalogs do not indicate the type locking element. In this case, we pay attention to the product code and then look for the characteristics of this particular model on the manufacturer’s website. The information obtained will be useful both when choosing a product and when searching for parts needed for replacement in the event of a breakdown.

  1. Mixer thermostats– the most modern products. There is a thermostatic element inside the device, thanks to which the outlet water temperature is always maintained at the same level. This contributes to the maximum level of comfort in use, but such a mixer, alas, is quite expensive.
    Unfortunately, finding a high-quality hidden thermostat is not easy, so you will have to put up with the presence of the mixer body on the wall.

If you choose based on the optimal price-functionality ratio, then it seems to me best choice installation of a single-lever model built-in or wall-mounted. On the one hand, you can find models with a very reasonable cost and install them yourself. On the other hand, the presence of an adjustment system makes it easy to configure optimal temperature and water pressure.

Self-installation

Stage 1. Preparatory work

One of the advantages of hygienic showers is that simple technology their installation. You can install the product yourself, without involving specialists. Naturally, it is necessary to observe a certain degree of accuracy, acting strictly according to the instructions.

The installation process itself depends on which model you will install, as well as on the condition of the room itself. To install wall-mounted and built-in faucets with a hose, it is necessary to groove the walls for laying pipes. But a hygienic shower can be placed on the sink even after finishing work is completed.

Gating can be abandoned if the walls are covered with plastic, gypsum board or other materials with sufficient moisture resistance. This way the installation process will be less labor-intensive, but the pipes will still have to be fixed to the walls.

The preparatory stage includes the following operations:

  1. First we choose a place on which the mixer will be installed. It is desirable that a person can reach the lever or valves without getting up from the toilet.
  2. Now we apply markings on the walls for laying pipes. As a rule, pipes with hot and cold water rise vertically to the mixer, but here everything depends on the initial configuration of the water supply system.

  1. Now let's start building the walls. First, select a hole with a depth of 85 - 100 mm for installing the mixer body. Then we bring grooves for pipes to this hole. We clean the grooves cut or hollowed out with a hammer drill from fragments of concrete/brick and dust.

  1. We install a mounting box in the hole under the mixer. We fix the box either with spacers or using cement mortar.

The mounting box may not be included in the mixer kit - then you will have to purchase it separately. Also allowed hidden installation without installing a box: in this case, the mixer is fixed directly in the wall niche.

  1. Laying pipes, bringing them to the hole in the wall in which the mixer will be installed.

  1. If you plan to install wall model or devices with a thermostat, you won’t have to bother with the hole and installing the box. Instead, pipes are brought to the surface, fixed in such a way that they are located exactly opposite the holes for connecting the mixer.

Stage 2. Installation of the mixer and other shower elements

The instructions for installing a hygienic shower will also differ.

So, when working with the built-in model, we proceed like this:

  1. We install the mixer mechanism in the box or wall niche.

  1. We connect hoses to it, connected to water pipes(hot and cold water).
  2. A faceplate may need to be installed, to which the outer part with a lever or flywheel will later be attached.
  3. After installation is completed, we seal the grooves and carry out finishing work.

  1. We install on top of the finishing wall decorative overlay , and then we attach the flywheel/lever to control the water pressure and temperature to the axle box or cartridge lever.

Installing a wall-mounted model will be much easier:

  1. We connect the pipes on the mixer body to the water supply terminals mounted on the wall..
  2. Fixing the product using nuts with sealing gaskets, trying to tighten them tightly, but without deformation.
  3. When using a model with a thermostat, check the functionality of the thermostatic element.

With the model for the sink, everything is quite simple: just fix the faucet body on the sink itself and connect the hot and cold water supply hoses to it from below.

Now we just have to perform the final operations:

  1. At the selected location, use one or two anchor bolts to secure the shower head clamp. If you need to install the mount on a tiled wall, use a special tile drill.
  2. Attach a shower hose to the threaded pipe on the mixer. Check the tightness of the connection.
  3. We apply pressure and control the absence of leaks. Also at this stage it is worth checking how well the pressure and temperature are regulated, as well as whether the water on/off lever on the shower head functions reliably.
  4. After this we hang the watering can on installed mount . You can use the hygienic shower!

Conclusion

The technology for installing a hygienic shower described above can be used for almost any model of such devices. To understand the nuances, it is worth studying the instructions from the manufacturer and watching the informative video in this article.

If you still have questions after this, you can ask them in the comments.

It is not always possible to install the “bidet” hygiene system, so popular in Europe, in the toilet room. Sometimes there just isn’t enough space for this in a tiny bathroom. small apartment. Although the bidet successfully replaces toilet paper, from a medical point of view, it is better, it can also be replaced with a hygienic shower by choosing a suitable mixer. It will look good. It will not take up much space in the interior of the room. And the design itself will change significantly.

Main Components

Standard equipment includes:

  • Mixer with temperature control. It is unacceptable when only cold or hot water flows. This device will provide an acceptable temperature level.
  • A rubber hose with a metal braid up to one and a half meters long. It is selected according to the installation site, depending on how much area will be allocated for hygiene procedures.
  • A watering can with a shut-off valve that controls the water supply. It’s convenient to use: press it and the water starts flowing; release the button and it stops.

The size of the toilet room is important. Ideally, install a corner sink and connect it to a hygienic shower.

Classification

The three most common types are best faucets for hygienic shower:

  • Valve
  • Single lever type.
  • Automatically regulating temperature (with thermostat).

Features of installation and operation

A miniature watering can with a small button on a flexible hose connected to a mixer – this is what a hygienic shower looks like. We press the button - the water flows, let go - it stops.

Many are against the advisability of installing this type of device in their own bathroom for several reasons:

It is important to turn off the water after taking a shower, carefully use the levers and valves so as not to accidentally cause a flood for the neighbors below (the design of the watering can may not withstand the inconsistent water pressure when not in use and, at best, will leak a little).

People with increased body weight will find it problematic to use a hygienic shower since it does not have an anatomically comfortable shape like a bidet.

Improper use and installation, after which various “water accidents” occur, are the main reasons for the reluctance to install a hygienic shower in your bathroom.

Let's think about the advantages before finally abandoning this idea:

  • Separating the bathroom and toilet is not always convenient for many reasons (especially for older people). And the ability to do “everything on the spot” is sometimes very useful.
  • It is installed next to the toilet and all needs for cleanliness and comfort are solved immediately.
  • The design of the restroom improves and adds some elegance.
  • Installation is very simple - can be connected to the built-in sink faucet.
  • Can be used in for different purposes(fill containers, wash shoes, same toilet).
  • Ideal for those who have small children.

The hygienic shower is placed above the toilet or to the side of it on special brackets or other structures provided for by the design style.

There are 3 installation options:

  • Pipe routing for a wall-mounted mixer for a hygienic shower. The best option. All communications during the construction process are where they are needed. All that remains is to put single lever mixer and enjoy life.
  • You can connect it to the water supply, hide it in a plumbing closet or niche. You will need a thermostat so you don’t have to constantly prepare the water manually.
  • Power your hygienic shower from the installed sink.

Features of choice

On the issue of purchasing a suitable plumbing fixture We approach with special responsibility. We are considering various photos available sets of mixers for hygienic showers, we visit specialized salons. We receive professional advice. There is nothing worse than buying a low-quality, cheap fake, and then spending money again on purchasing a normal product.

It is important to choose quality plumbing fixtures to avoid unnecessary costly problems.

Ultimately, it is important that a hygienic shower performs its functions properly for many years, and does not cause a lot of unnecessary, expensive problems.

Photos of faucets for hygienic shower

Sink mixers with a hygienic shower are installed in small bathrooms, where free space does not allow installation separate bidet. According to their own functionality and ease of use, they are no different from the usual bidet, and the cost is several times lower. Another plus is that the faucet can be installed on an existing sink, which further reduces estimated cost work and reduces installation time. All equipment can be installed within a few hours.

Wide choose various models allows all users to choose best option both in price and in quality, convenience and ease of use.

Faucet with hygienic shower for basin

If it is difficult to make the final choice on your own, then it is better to use the universal advice of professional plumbing installers.

Features of use

It is necessary to install a sink faucet with a hygienic shower within reach, this way you can ensure comfort of use. The distance from the shower head bracket to the toilet should be chosen so that it can be easily reached by hand, and the length of the flexible hose ensures that hygiene procedures can be carried out. Please take these requirements into account when choosing a specific equipment model. If the distance from the sink to the toilet is large, then the length of the hose should be appropriate.

You need to know the nuances of use; they will have a positive impact on the choice of a specific device model. Before hygiene procedures, you need to adjust the water temperature.

After selecting the temperature, you can use the hygienic watering can. But you should keep in mind that turning on the watering can simultaneously leads to a drop in water pressure; adjust the pressure force taking this factor into account.

One more thing. If, during hygiene procedures, water is poured through the mixer, this increases its losses.

As soon as the sink faucet is turned on, pressurized water flows into the flexible hose. This operation scheme increases the requirements for the reliability of a hygienic shower; pay attention to its condition and if leaks are detected, fix them immediately.

We will tell you how the hygienic shower head works and how to repair it in this article below.

Criteria for choosing faucets for a sink with a hygienic shower

We will not touch on specific brands and brands; decide on them yourself, taking into account design and cost. And on technical features It's worth going into more detail.

Manufacturing material and protective coating technology

Most often, the body of mixers is made of brass, hardware and additional elements are made of silumin. External chrome or nickel plating. How are these materials and technologies different?

  1. Chrome plating. The highest quality and wear-resistant coating, hence the high price of such products. During the manufacture of faucets, electrolytic chrome plating technology is used; up to three layers of varying thickness can be applied. Chrome is resistant to most acids and, due to its high degree of penetration into the base, provides a very stable coating. The parts are perfectly smooth and shiny. Chrome does not fade when heated to +110°C, which guarantees color stability throughout the entire period of operation. Surfaces can be cleaned of dirt using any modern detergents no limits.
  2. Nickel plating. More cheap method coatings of external metal surfaces of mixers. In all performance indicators it is significantly inferior to chrome plating. The method is used during the manufacture of cheap or counterfeit products.

Practical advice. The cost of the final decorative coating in the total price of a faucet with a hygienic shower is only 3–5%; you should not skimp on its quality. Chrome plated products retain their properties much longer original appearance, the coatings do not peel off for a long time, do not change color, and stains do not appear on them. Do not skimp on the external coating; it is much more profitable to use faucets with chrome-plated surfaces.

There are faucets with a body made of silumin - you should not buy such models. They do not last long and often suddenly crack. And the consequences of leaks can be the most tragic; fixing the problems will cost much more than purchasing a high-quality faucet.

Dimensions

The linear parameters of the device should take into account not only the size of the bathroom, but also the spatial position of the sink and toilet. It is highly desirable that the bracket for fixing the hygienic shower head is located under right hand. This arrangement eliminates many inconveniences during the hygiene procedure.

Pay attention to the length of the flexible hose, let it be with a reserve. If you plan to mount the faucet on a sink, then it must have a special technological hole. If it is not there, then it is better to purchase wall-mounted devices.

Practical advice. If the sink already has an ordinary faucet, then replacing it with a new one with a hygienic shower will not be a problem. Manufacturers will unify all holes and diameters; you will only need to dismantle the old device and install a new one in its place. No complex modifications are required.

Installation and assembly instructions

Let's look at an example of installing a faucet with a hygienic shower head directly on the sink.

Single lever basin mixer GROHE

Step 1. Check the package contents according to the manufacturer's instructions. Figure out which ones go where rubber gaskets it is necessary to establish which elements are intended for installation, etc. Each manufacturer must give schematic diagram assembly, start installation only after studying it.

Step 2. Install the round rubber gasket on the bottom of the faucet. In terms of size, this is the largest gasket. Check its integrity; if there are leaks, water will begin to leak under the sink, this is a very unpleasant phenomenon.

Step 3. Insert the faucet into place, and put a metal element on it from below for fastening. Check the position of the device; the rubber gasket should completely cover the technological hole.

Step 4. Tighten the locking nut. Do not apply too much force; the ceramic sink may crack.

Practical recommendation. Tighten the nut until the rubber gasket around its entire circumference is slightly compressed. Turn the mixer to different sides, it must be held firmly. Do not compress the rubber to the limit, this is very dangerous.

Step 5. Connect flexible hoses to the faucet. There are three in total: two for cold and hot water for mixing and one at the outlet into the flexible hose of the hygienic shower. All hoses have O-rings, do not overtighten them. Modern models do not require much effort for assembly, these old devices used tow for sealing, it had to be tightened tightly.

Mixer hoses connected to taps

Step 6. Install a watering can holder on the wall. The distance from it should allow you to remove the watering can without getting up from the toilet.

Step 7 Attach a watering can to the second end of the corrugated hose.

Step 8 Turn on the water supply and check the tightness of the pressure connections. It is easier to check using pieces of paper. Place it on the floor under the joints and wait 5-10 minutes. During this time, leaks will definitely appear. Drops of water on the paper are clearly visible, determine which connection is leaking and fix the problem.

Important. Malfunctions cannot be eliminated by strong tightening; this is not only useless, but also dangerous. The fact is that the hardware is made of fragile materials and will fail if subjected to strong forces.

To eliminate the leak, you need to unscrew the unit and check the condition of the rubber gasket or oil seal. main reason leaks - damage to rubber elements during assembly. If necessary, replace the gaskets with new ones; you can buy them at any plumbing store.

How to repair a watering can

Faucets can have various devices for adjusting the water temperature; all users are aware of the features of their operation. But how a hygienic shower head works and what problems may arise during use is not known to all users. We have already mentioned that leaking showerheads can cause flooding in the bathroom; the consequences of flooding are very unpleasant. Before you repair a watering can, you should study the principle of operation and learn about the components.

What elements are used to make a hygienic shower head?

  1. Frame. Made of plastic, external surfaces have a decorative coating. A small diameter watering can is screwed to the body with a screw; control mechanisms are located inside. A corrugated hose is connected from below, and on the back there is an external lever for turning on the water supply.
  2. Metal tube. Made of brass, it serves to supply water from a corrugated hose to the body of the watering can and then to the shower. One end of the tube is pressed tightly against the rubber gasket, the other moves freely in rubber seals installed in the housing plug. When the lever is pressed, a metal tube compresses the spring, the tube falls along the seals and allows water to access the watering can. Two plastic stops are pressed onto the tube to stop the lever.
  3. Spring. Made of stainless alloy steel, presses the metal tube to the rubber valve. One end of the spring rests against plastic limiter on the tube, and the second in the plug on the body.
  4. Lever (button) for turning on the water. Top part rests against the drive on the body, the lower part makes reciprocating movements of the tube. Fixed to the body using a metal axis.
  5. Stub. It has a hole in which the tube moves; rubber rings are used for sealing.

Manufacturers may slightly change the size, location and materials of the elements, but the operating principle is the same for all.

How to repair a hygienic shower head

We have already mentioned that the watering can is the most important element of a hygienic shower; when the mixer is opened, it is always under pressure, has rubbing surfaces and rubber valves. Each of these elements can cause leaks. Problems appear in three places.

  1. Water is leaking at the bottom of the watering can body. The reason is a loose connection between the corrugated hose and the body of the watering can. This is the most simple malfunction, to eliminate it, it is enough to replace the rubber gasket or tighten the nut a little.
  2. Water drips from under the water supply control lever (button). The reason is critical wear of the rubber rings in the plug. The seals must be replaced.
  3. Water seeps through the holes in the watering can. The reason is that the tightness of the water supply shutoff is broken. The metal tube in the closed position is pressed against the rubber gasket by a spring; over time, natural physical wear appears on it, it loses its plasticity, and dents may form. If, in addition to these problems, the technological holes in the body into which the tube is inserted have increased, then during movement it deviates slightly from the axis of symmetry each time. This is the most annoying problem; sometimes you have to buy a new hygienic shower head.

To eliminate the last two faults it is necessary completely disassemble the watering can. How it's done?

Step 1. Unscrew the corrugated hose of the watering can.

Step 2. Using a knife or small screwdriver, carefully remove the plug from the end of the housing. Take it out slowly, pry it from all sides and gradually pull it out. Do not damage the body of the watering can; the plug is seated very tightly. Work carefully, as soon as the element begins to move, lower the body as low as possible to the surface of the workbench. Keep in mind that the spring inside is highly compressed and can fly out at high speed. Take all precautions.

Step 3. Remove the metal shaft from the housing; it holds the control lever. If there is no spring, the axle should be easy to remove. You can remove the axle using an awl or solid wire of a suitable diameter.

Step 4. Pull out the lever.

Step 5. Now you can remove the metal tube and rubber band that closes the water inlet into the watering can.

Step 6. Check the condition of the rubber elements. We have already mentioned that rubber rings and gaskets fail. If critical wear or mechanical damage is detected, replace parts.

Disassembled watering can

Reassembling the watering can body occurs in the reverse order. Take your time; the elements should fall into place without excessive effort. To make the seals fit easier, moisten them with soapy water.

If your water has a high calcium content, then after a few months the holes in the watering can significantly decrease in diameter due to solid calcium deposits. As a result, the streams of water become thin and move at high speed, causing certain inconveniences during hygiene procedures. The problem can be easily solved. Using a sewing needle or thin pin, clean each hole; if you have time, remove the mesh of the watering can to remove solid particles.

When cleaning the holes, do not damage them. Otherwise, the water jets will be directed in different directions.

Installation of a faucet with a hygienic shower on the wall

This method is suitable for all types of sinks and is considered universal. The distance between the mixer inlets is standard and equal to 15 centimeters. The height of the water supply outlets should allow the shower hose to be connected without sharp bends. This is not always possible to do; pay attention to the location of the faucet hose and the size of the sink.

Step 1. Clean water supply outlets from construction waste, check the condition of the thread.

Step 2. Remove the mixer from the packaging and assemble it according to the manufacturer's instructions. The corrugated hose of the hygienic shower is screwed on after complete installation mixer

Step 3. Screw the faucet into place, do not forget to install rubber gaskets and decorative caps. There is no need to tighten the nuts with great force. The main thing is that the rubber gaskets fit snugly around the circumference of the holes.

Work with a level, constantly check the vertical position. If you have ceramic tiles on your bathroom walls, use special drills to drill holes in them. Never turn the drill into hammer drill mode until you have drilled completely. ceramic tiles. They will definitely crack due to impact loads, and the tiles will have to be replaced. This is a long task, and it is not always possible to find exactly the same tiles.

Screw on the shower hose

To increase the comfort of using a hygienic shower, it is recommended to choose device options with automatic adjustment temperature. Automation monitors it constantly and immediately responds to changes in indicators in one direction or another.

Wall-mounted mixer with hygienic shower

Experienced plumbers can connect a hygienic shower to an ordinary bathtub faucet. This method can be used, but it is difficult to independently select the missing fittings. The fact is that it should not only be functional, but also beautiful. You need to look for special tees and switches; it is almost impossible to do this without extensive experience. This option is sometimes used in old buildings with a combined bathroom, in which warm water connected only to the bathtub, and a simple cold tap is installed on the sink.
