How to make a more professional tool?

A homemade jigsaw machine can have all the qualities that are present in professional equipment. To make it, you need to adhere to the following instructions:

  1. The frame is made of any durable material - 12 mm plywood, plastic, textolite and others. It should consist of a base, a body to accommodate all structural units and a work table.
  2. On the other hand, a rocking chair with an eccentric is placed. They need to be connected together using metal plates with sleeve-type bearings. The resulting structure is installed with screws.
  3. The intermediate shaft is formed from several bearings.
  4. The metal pulley is slid very tightly onto the shaft and the screw connection is secured.
  5. To change the characteristics of the rocking chair movement, 4 round holes with a thread are made on the eccentric flange. They should be placed at different distances from the centerline. The amplitude of the rocker movement is regulated by the location of the screws.
  6. The rocker is formed from wooden rocker arms that are pivotally attached to the rack.
  7. Small cuts are made at the rear ends of the rocker arms. They are for installing tension screws.
  8. The front ends of the rocker arms are for mounting the file. It moves with special metal hinges. Before attaching the file, it is installed in a groove located on the desktop.
  9. The rocking rack is made from a single piece of durable material. At its upper end, a groove is made to install the rocker arm, and near the lower end, a small rectangular hole is cut out for mounting the second rocker arm.

How to make a machine from a sewing machine?

An excellent jigsaw machine is obtained from a sewing machine, which is equipped with a saw movement regulator. It is not difficult to make it if you follow these instructions:

  1. The thread weaving mechanism is dismantled from the bottom of the machine. In some models, it may be located in a different location.
  2. To dismantle this unit, you must remove a few bolts, then remove the cotter pin and drive shaft.
  3. The upper protective panel is unscrewed. After that, the groove along which the sewing needle moves must be expanded to fit the file parameters.
  4. The cutting element itself is also slightly modified. It is trimmed according to the length of the sewing needle.
  5. It is not necessary to make an adapter for installing the cutting element. Instead, you can grind down the upper incisors a little and work on the lower area of the blade.
  6. The file is inserted into the needle holder and work begins.

All the options for the manufacture of jigsaw machines presented are very successful. The resulting units are distinguished by high labor productivity, and it is not at all difficult to make them. Depending on their skills, each master will be able to choose the best model of homemade equipment.

Video: Jigsaw from a sewing machine

A tabletop jigsaw is an indispensable thing for any owner who is accustomed to independently cope with household chores. Electric jigsaws are especially good for residents of the private sector, lovers of manual labor and summer cottages. From its prototype, an ordinary hand-held jigsaw, the desktop electric model has gone far enough. The tabletop jigsaw allows you to facilitate and speed up the cutting procedure, not to mention improving the quality.

The concept of a tabletop jigsaw

A jigsaw is a saw, which is characterized by the reciprocating movements of the saw blade, which acts as a working body. It has a ski designed to guide the saw blade when moving over the surface that is being processed, and makes movements with a frequency of up to 3000 vibrations per minute.

This tool was invented in 1946. Its creator is Albert Kaufman, who replaced the needle in the sewing machine with a blade. The instrument appeared on the market already in 1947. The manual jigsaw has a flat platform body and a handle. The main difference between an electric jigsaw and a manual jigsaw is its greater functionality and cutting quality.

Inside there is an electric motor and a special mechanism that drives the blade. In stationary jigsaws, there is no handle, and the platform is located on top. In the front of the mechanism there is a guide, in the lower part there is a retractable canvas that moves and makes cuts.

The tool works as follows: a file for a tabletop jigsaw is securely fastened with clamps in the slide. Reciprocating movements have a frequency of up to 3000 strokes and can be adjusted. The support platform allows the jigsaw to focus on the part to be cut, so the work is carried out very precisely.

The purpose of the table jigsaw

The jigsaw is an integral part of every workshop and every hobbyist. Its thin file can successfully cut plywood, copper, iron, thick boards, brass, steel. The tools are motor driven, foot driven or hand driven and are more powerful. An electric jigsaw is simply indispensable for joiners, woodworkers, furniture decorators, drywall workers who make complex parts.

The electric jigsaw can make straight and curved cuts on workpieces with complex shapes and various sheet materials without disturbing the outer contour. Most often, table jigsaws are used to cut wood and wooden slabs, figures with a complex outline made of laminate and drywall, plastic blanks, and also for cutting sheet metal.

The benchtop electric jigsaw makes clean, complex cuts and works fine
details. Due to the stable and fixed position during operation, a high cutting accuracy is achieved. The saw has a stable ride thanks to the tensioning system and guides, which manual jigsaws do not. The large size of the table makes it stable, so the exact cutting direction is observed.

Types of jigsaws

Today, a wide variety of jigsaws is presented on the power tool market, which differ in the nature of their application, technical characteristics, type of power supply and design features. In hardware stores, you can buy a desktop jigsaw for every taste and wallet.

By design features, it is difficult to classify, because each manufacturer seeks to provide its products with features that are designed to facilitate and improve the operation of the tool. In this respect, the shape of the handle is an important parameter.

There are two types of handles - mushroom and D-shaped. The staple jigsaw requires one-handed operation. This increases the possibilities of using a jigsaw, however, it somewhat negatively affects the quality of the cut of the material.

Mushroom handles suggest making more accurate cuts when holding the jigsaw with two hands, after fixing the workpiece to be cut. The choice of a jigsaw with a specific handle shape depends on the financial capabilities and personal preferences of the buyer. It is worth choosing the jigsaw with which it will be more convenient to work.

Household jigsaws are not intended for intensive use, but the low price of a tabletop jigsaw and the power that is enough for household needs make them indispensable in the household.

Professional jigsaws are characterized by high wear resistance and the possibility of daily use for many hours (up to 8 hours). The significant power of such jigsaws allows you to process materials of great thickness. Extended equipment and improved performance are reflected in the price.

Among professional jigsaws, industrial ones also stand out, which are characterized by greater adaptability to complex operations and drive features - for example, increased power supply voltage. Industrial models are machines that are designed for the woodworking industry.

According to the type of power supply, there are network and battery jigsaws. On-line models are supplied with standard voltage mains. If performance is important to you, then it is worth choosing a corded power tool.

Cordless jigsaws provide independence from the presence of outlets and more mobility during work. When buying a rechargeable model, you should pay attention to the type of battery. The increased performance is inherent in lithium-ion batteries. The capacity of the battery is responsible for the duration of operation without recharging.

Advantages of desktop jigsaws

A tabletop electric jigsaw is a stationary design, so this type of cutting tool has many advantages. Modern models can work with wood materials 40-50 millimeters thick. A narrow saw acts as a working body, which makes vertical reciprocating movements. Due to the peculiarities of the notching of the teeth and the mechanics of the movements of the saw, the material is cut by an upward stroke.

The tabletop jigsaw allows you to cut complex decorative details, make longitudinal, straight, oblique and transverse cuts. The wide table top allows you to machine large parts and make cuts inside wide workpieces. A secure mount protects the body from unnecessary vibrations and allows for good material positioning, so the motor can work without overloading.

The advantages of table-top jigsaws include good accuracy and precision of cuts, high safety and ease of use, wide customization options from the material and the required part of the cut blanks.

If you need to cut small parts, a manual jigsaw will not be very convenient. It is quite heavy, so you have to hold it with one hand and guide the workpiece with the other. A desktop jigsaw is devoid of this drawback. Perhaps the disadvantages are the too large dimensions and the complexity of working with large parts.

The tabletop jigsaw is a kind of mini machine for cutting workpieces. If you buy a jigsaw in a store, most likely there will be the ability to select the power and adjust the frequency of the saw strokes. However, you can make the simplest homemade tabletop jigsaw very quickly. You will need a manual jigsaw, a few screws, a small piece of plywood and only an hour of work.

Making a tabletop jigsaw

A neatly made jigsaw will not be inferior to a factory-made one, and in some respects even surpasses it. It is not difficult to assemble such a jigsaw if you have the necessary materials. Next, we will describe a simple scheme of such manipulations.

The jigsaw design includes the following components: handle, switch button, insulating washer, power cord, frame, heating thread, screw clamp and shackle. First you need to make a frame. You will need a duralumin pipe with an outer diameter of up to twelve millimeters.

You can also use textolite with a thickness of at least ten millimeters or thick plywood for the base. But keep in mind that the lighter the frame is, the more convenient the jigsaw will be to use. Be sure to provide a conduit so that the power cord can be routed later. The best frame shape is one with one side tilted 45 degrees.

Next, you need to make an earring. It is made of copper sheet one millimeter thick. After that, it is attached with screws to the frame, where it connects to the handle. Thus, the screw, wing nut and shackle will form a clamp in which the heating thread can be fixed. The thickness of the duralumin sheet should be up to 0.8 millimeters. It is necessary to make hold-down cheeks from it, between which there is a button-switch.

After that, you need to cut a gap in the plywood through which the file can pass. It can be done with a drill. To do this, you need to drill holes along the marking line, and smooth the transitions. Instead of plywood, you can use plastic, metal, plexiglass and others. Next, you place and drill the mounting holes on the plywood and the base plate of the jigsaw.

Then you need to fix the jigsaw with screws on the plywood base so that the file can go through the gap. You attach the structure to the table with a clamp so that the file points up. You can also pin the platform in any way you can.
The jigsaw file remains common, but the possibilities for good cutting are expanded by freeing up the hands.

You can use a nichrome coil from any household heating device (iron for example) as a heating thread. It must be tightened with tension between the ends of the frame bends. To warm up the thread, you need to apply a tension of about 14 V. To control the operating mode, you can use a rheostat.

The current is determined by the thickness and length of the nichrome thread. With the help of a rheostat, it will be possible to set the optimal current strength (no more than 3-5 A), which will affect the temperature to which the thread heats up. Before starting work, you need to determine the current strength. But keep in mind that if the force is too high, the material to be cut can be seized by the flame, and if it is insufficient, it will not. A do-it-yourself desktop jigsaw will allow you to cut shapes with complex contours from various types of materials.

Rules for using a tabletop jigsaw

When working with a desktop jigsaw, you must adhere to some rules:

  1. When cutting, do not press hard on the tool, otherwise, at best, the needle will break, at worst, you will ruin the work.
  2. Replace saws from time to time. An old saw can ruin and erode the surface of the material.
  3. If you work with organic glass and non-ferrous alloys, the surface of the product must be moistened with water. Such an operation will speed up the process and extend the life of the saw.
  4. If you are cutting a surface less than one millimeter thick, place a sheet of wood or plywood under the material to be cut.
  5. The material must be secured before cutting. It is better not to make long cuts by hand, the line may turn out to be crooked.
  6. For cutting different materials, appropriate blades are required, with a special pitch and length.
  7. Turn the tool by turning only the back of the tool.
  8. When cutting the laminate, adhesive tape is glued to the cut line, which protects the material from chips.
  9. If curved cuts become necessary, set the jigsaw pendulum to minimum.

If you have not yet fully understood how to make a tabletop electric jigsaw, watch the video about this procedure. This tool allows you to cut complex parts from wood and other material, to make longitudinal, oblique, straight and cross cuts. With the help of a jigsaw, you can process large parts, wide workpieces and small products, which is not superfluous at home.

The jigsaw is a very common tool. However, when working with it, you have to face certain difficulties: the file either breaks or jumps out of the clamps, when cutting along a curved contour, it often twists, which makes it difficult to maintain the required direction. Much more convenient homemade electric thermal jigsaw, which allows you to cut parts of any shape, both from plywood (wood) and from organic glass, ebonite and other combustible or melting materials. Although it also has some disadvantages.

So, I'll try to tell you how to make a jigsaw-heat cutter

The design and main dimensions of my electric thermal jigsaw are shown in Fig. 1, however, everyone is free to select the dimensions of the jigsaw himself (often these dimensions are determined by the parts at hand).

In general, a jigsaw consists of a tubular arc, a handle, an electric button, nichrome wire, wing nut screws, an insulating pad, a shackle, and an electrical wire.

The arc (frame) of my jigsaw is made of 12 mm duralumin tube. You can also make it from plywood. But in any case, this frame should be light and strong. The handle is made of PCB 10 mm thick. On one side, a cylindrical shank is attached to the handle, the diameter of which corresponds to the hole in the arc tube. A groove is cut in the shank for the supply wire to pass through the tubular frame. On the other side of the handle there is a shackle (fig. 2). It is made of 1 mm thick copper sheet and is screwed to the handle with two screws. The end of the nichrome wire - the "cutting" element, is attached to the earring with a screw with a wing nut. An electric button is fixed in the middle of the handle with the help of two cheeks (plates) made of 0.8 mm thick duralumin sheet. At the other end of the frame, a PCB plate with a clip for a "cutting" element is attached (see Fig. 1).

Rice. 2. Earring.

A spiral from an electric iron (wire diameter of the spiral is 0.5 mm) is used as a "cutting" element. The length of the wire, of course, depends on the dimensions of the tubular arc. The nichrome wire in the frame is fixed with some tension.

To heat the nichrome wire, a voltage of 12 ... 14 V is required, and a rheostat is desirable to adjust the degree of heating of the wire.

The operating current of the cutter depends both on the characteristics of the material being processed and on the length and thickness of the nichrome wire. With the dimensions of the jigsaw shown in Fig. 1, and using a nichrome wire with a diameter of 0.5 mm, the current consumption is determined according to the properties of the material being cut and is usually 3 ... 5 A. Before starting work, the rheostat sets the current required to heat the wire to the appropriate temperature. It should be borne in mind that with a high current (high temperature of the wire) the same plywood can flare up, and with insufficient heating of the wire, for example, when processing plexiglass, the latter will only soften, but it will not be possible to cut it. The jigsaw is simple in design, easy to use, allows you to cut (burn out) parts of any shape.

The disadvantages of the tool should be attributed only to the fact that when working with a jigsaw-heat cutter, smoke is emitted, which occurs when the material being cut is burned. Remember also that working with a thermal jigsaw requires compliance with certain safety measures. So, flammable objects must be removed from the workplace, and the room itself must be constantly ventilated. And take care of your hands from burns!

Why do you need a manual puzzle?

By origin, that word "saws" This is the analogue of the German word "laubsäge", which means cutting along a curved path. There is a hand-held frame builder in the shape of an arc of levers and clamps built to attach the saw blade.

This canvas is very thin and narrow, which allows you to traverse an uneven path, that is, whenever you change direction.

Due to the insufficient space between the frame and the saw blade, the edges of the material to be cut can be surrounded by the saw. The disadvantages of this tool should be noted for its weak mechanical strength, which leads to the fact that the saw "strip" often breaks under special weights and the relatively small size of the frame, which makes it impossible to work at a great distance from the edges of the work material.

The handcrafted puzzle is used to process wood and its derivatives (plywood, fibreboard, etc.).

This tool also finds its application in the processing of non-ferrous metals in a stack. The handcrafted puzzle allows beautiful wood patterns to be covered, so its meaning never fades. It is used extensively in the production of elegant design elements.

There are many advantages that allow us to saw with plywood and other wood products:

  • Economy. In general, a wooden pile with a dozen saw blades will cost 5-6 cu.

    The plywood scheme 1500x1500 mm will cost about 6-8 USD. However, this is sufficient for a few large or much smaller crafts.

  • Association with meditation.

    Sawing with a hand saw can be compared to relaxation. Imagine: a sheet of plywood will become your own image. For many, it may seem like this work is monotonous and boring, but when you pick up the puzzle and the plywood leaves, the person completely focuses on the work and forgets about the return of the city.

What is a hand puzzle?

  • Teaching finger motor skills and strength.

    Cutting out small and complex parts, concentrating on learning and knitting with fingers, and in case of failure, the person does not throw his hand - again takes a new sheet of plywood and saws. This is the formation of a sign.

  • Savings on the purchase of expensive decorative items. Nothing is as impressive as decorating your home with your own hands.
  • This is hand saw accessibility for kids.

    It's hard to imagine how much fun this baby can bring to your baby.

What advantages did we notice, of the minuses only the fragility of the saw blade and the small frame size. Thus, we must not avoid this tool: it is not out of date! He is still capable of giving his electrical counterpart!

Desktop jigsaws: advantages and features

The jigsaw is designed to perform straight and curved cuts on various sheet materials and workpieces of complex shapes, including without disturbing the outer contour.

Homemade jigsaw machine for sawing: drawings and video

Most often, jigsaws are used for cutting wood and wood-based panels, plastic blanks, parts with a complex contour of plasterboard and laminate, as well as for cutting sheet metal.

Desktop jigsaws represent a stationary structure, which is the reason for most of the advantages of this type of cutting tool.

Modern models of desktop jigsaws are designed to work with wood materials with a thickness of 40-50 mm.

The working body is a narrow file making progressive reciprocating movements in the vertical direction. At the same time, due to the peculiarities of the notching of the teeth and the mechanics of the saw movement, the penetration into the material occurs during the upward stroke.

The advantages of desktop jigsaws:

  • high precision and accuracy of cuts;
  • wide customization options depending on the material and the required shape of the cut blanks;
  • increased safety and comfort of work.

The disadvantages of desktop jigsaws include rather large dimensions and the complexity of working with large workpieces.

Reasons for choosing a table jigsaw

The choice in favor of buying a table jigsaw is justified when you need to make clean cuts of complex shapes and work with small parts.

High cutting accuracy is achieved due to the stable fixed position of the tool during operation. The stability of the saw blade is provided by the tensioning system and guides, which are lacking in hand tools. The relatively large dimensions of the table cause a large support surface for the cut part, which means greater stability and smaller deviations from the specified cutting direction.

To some extent, a jigsaw is a mini-machine for cutting workpieces.

In some models of table jigsaws, it is possible to select the power (for example, the Corvette Enkor jigsaw) supplied to the engine, as well as adjust the frequency of the saw strokes in the range from 500 to 1600 movements per minute (for example, the DS 403 Vario jigsaw). Usually. The design of the file clamp allows you to quickly replace it, as well as install it in one of several positions. An adjustable tilt of the table with respect to one or two axes complements the possibilities of cutting at an angle.

Many bench jigsaws are equipped with accessories such as an angle stop with degree notches, a transparent protective screen and a blower system that frees the cutting area from sawdust.

Good to know:

Jogging from hand puzzle diy

Cutting small and small parts can be done with a variety of tools. It is relatively easy to handle these pieces with an electrical puzzle. But in this case, there are some problems that need to be addressed.

Self-winding puzzle

For example, working with small parts will be very difficult because there is no reliable fixation. But a large file width will not allow a large curvature of the cut.

Fortunately, these problems are solved very easily, in this situation the problem of creating a machine for an electric puzzle is solved.

The essence of the machine is to ensure that the work pieces are securely held in place and then easily processed. Thus, a hand-knot composite machine can be made in a very simple manner. For example, you can take a plywood panel and make a gap in it. This slot will contain a saw blade.

Then make some holes to securely attach the blade. After that, on a plate of plywood, you need to do whatever is necessary to secure it to the table.

The floor surface can be attached to the table with clamps. While working, I can ask questions about how to make a slot on the plate. This can be done in different ways, be it one of them. Mark a line on the plywood panel where the hole will be. Then take a drill bit and start drilling holes along this line, if possible, puckering with each other. As a result, only a smooth circular hole is required in one continuous slot.

Finally, something similar to the device shown below appears.

As you can see, this version of the machine is left with a standard file, which significantly limits the curvature of the cuts.

So give an example in which the saw can be made miniaturized, which increases the curvature. The use of thin files differs only in that it requires an additional clamping device. So make the car from the previous example, you need to do a little leverage check. This lever must be spring-secured to gently grip the saw. On the side of the punch, the thin file must be attached to the thicker part. Remember to turn off the rotation function.

Below you can see exactly this version of the car.

And, of course, how to consider the possibilities of self-employed machines, without using an almost complete assembly machine.

In this case, the thin saw is already secured between the two arms, the upper and lower, and the electric heap crosses the path to the lower arm.

Well, there are many options for creating jackets that can be seen from the puzzle, so the final choice will be up to you.

Appointment of electric jigsaws and hacksaws

Jigsaw is a versatile cutting tool.

Unlike a conventional manual jigsaw, the jigsaw allows you to work with a wide variety of materials. The main advantage of the jigsaw is its ability to make curved cuts. A jigsaw is needed when you need to cut out some figure more complicated than a rectangle - a circle, a wave, an oval.

Reciprocating saw (electric hoe)- to some extent a relative of the jigsaw. Reciprocating saws are equipped with a blade that performs pendulum movements of small amplitude, moving in a straight line during the return stroke, it rises.

The shape of the tool is similar to a large drill with files extended forward.

The electric reciprocating saw is considered a professional tool. In everyday life, tasks that require the participation of this specific unit are extremely rare. As for carpenters, installers, roofers, locksmiths, finishers and even rescue workers - the reciprocating saw is, without exaggeration, irreplaceable.

General device and principle of operation of an electric jigsaw

The device of an electric jigsaw is shown in a schematic diagram:

The main elements of the jigsaw :

An aluminum or steel guide plane, also called a base plate. It allows you to correctly set the cutting angle, ensure accuracy, quality, and ease of cutting.

Homemade jigsaw machine

File for cutting material. It is designed to perform a number of works with specific materials. There are no universal saws that would allow equally excellent cutting of metal, wood or plastic, but you can always choose exactly those working blades that best meet all the requirements.

An electric motor that has a power of 300-900 watts. This parameter allows you to determine what kind of material you can work with, what thickness can be processed. When choosing equipment, not everyone pays attention to this criterion. Do not take too much power if you plan to perform household work, and the saved funds will make work with certain materials impossible.

A holder that ensures correct and smooth running.

5. The rollers, which hold the mechanism, ensure its movement.

6. System that provides a smooth motion of the file.

The main working element of the jigsaw is a small nail file 50-120 mm long.

In the process of operation, it performs vertical reciprocating movements with an amplitude of 20-30 mm and a frequency of 500 to 3000 working cycles per minute.

The kerf thickness is approximately 1 mm.

The jigsaw saw is driven through a special gearbox by an electric motor.

To make the cutting process efficient, most modern models are equipped with a pendulum mechanism. With its help, the file moves not only up and down, but also makes oscillatory movements back and forth according to the principle of a clock pendulum. This speeds up the sawing process and reduces the load on the engine.

When moving downward, the cutting blade is retracted from the material, and cutting is performed only when it moves upward, which makes the tool more productive and stable in work.

To obtain a clean and even cut, as well as when cutting brittle and hard materials, it is better to turn off the pendulum mechanism.

Since the cutting tool of a jigsaw is a file, it is also the main expense when working with it.

The range of jigsaw saws is very diverse, and each of them has its own purpose. Files differ in shape, size, sharpening.

They are made from various materials and are designed for a specific class of tasks.

Jigsaw blades

You should pay attention to the pitch of the saw teeth: for wood, a blade with a step of 2.5 to 4 mm is suitable, for metals and plastic - from 1 to 2 mm.

For cutting non-ferrous metals, saw blades with a wave-like cutting edge are required.

For work with glass, ceramic tiles, abrasive blades are used. Diamond-coated files have high performance, but they are quite expensive.

A base plate is attached to the jigsaw to ensure high precision. It is also called the sole. The use of a base plate relieves the operator of the need to keep the jigsaw suspended. Thanks to the sole, the distance to the work surface is kept constant, which guarantees stable tool performance.

I didn't want to put my expensive Makitovsky jigsaw on the table all the time, so I decided to buy another one to create a table. I very well turned up a jigsaw in the store "Our House" Caliber LEM-610E for only 862 rubles. The set includes: a file for wood, a side stop, an adapter for a vacuum cleaner, spare brushes for the motor.

There was an outlet next to the display case and I saw it at work. It is quite decently made, convenient, there is an adjustment of the speed with a wheel, the inclusion is fixed with a button. The file holder runs clearly without backlash.

It is very fortunate that I was able to twist it in my hands before buying it, from the Vseistrumenty.ru website I would not dare to order it, not knowing what it is. (Although there are good reviews about him) By the way, there he is more expensive and also payment for delivery ... so he successfully bought it in "Our House". :)

Despite its advantages, it has a number of disadvantages, which I saw upon closer examination:

1) The file does not fit into the file holder. Apparently this is a marriage of the copy, but I did not waste my time on the exchange. Every file has to be sharpened. (Although I won't be able to use them on the second jigsaw after grinding, it doesn't matter, they are relatively inexpensive)
2) And this drawback can be seen even in the picture. The blade is tilted strongly forward. (This was also corrected by placing tin strips under the back of the sole, achieving 90 o.
3) The wheel for adjusting the revolutions turns hard, not very clearly and with jamming. At the minimum value of speed, the tool cannot start at all (However, the same garbage with a start and in my other "calibration" drills is unpleasant, but does not spoil life much)

As always, everything is in the spirit of minimalism. I did not make a separate switch. It is quite conveniently turned on by the standard button and fixed.

To do this, I bought a bracket in CrepeMarket (this is a fastener element from some system of iron structures)

By the way, I love CrepeMarket very much. Any screws, nuts, screws, fasteners. Every time I design something, I wander there in thought and collect the necessary details for myself.

I cut off and sharpened the excess.

Back view. Now the distance between the bearings has a fixed clearance for a file of 1.2mm. I have a plan for the future: do a gap adjustment.

For thin materials can be omitted below.

As an experiment, I drew an asterisk and tried to cut it straight out

For a 130mm file, the maximum possible thickness is 5cm. It turns out there are very long files, recently I saw a 300mm file on the market

Sawed off a 1.5mm slice from a 40x40mm bar

Which I did. Now you can saw on it long workpieces with a width of 11.5 cm. The old L-shaped structure also remained, and if more strength of the holder is needed, it can be installed again, although the new structure remains quite strong and reliable.

I also came up with the idea of making a knife from an old blunt file, grinding off the teeth and sharpening it.

They can shapely cut material like a seal. The cut is smooth. Much better than a stationery knife. The photo shows a mouse pad.

Well, perhaps that's all. The table is reliable and comfortable. Now I have a tool on which I can do more delicate work than on a circular.

What to do when you need a jigsaw but you don't need to buy one? You can make a jigsaw with your own hands; there are many ways to make or repair such a tool. Let's consider the simplest and most affordable ones.

Manual jigsaw - simple, fast and affordable

How to make a jigsaw quickly from affordable and inexpensive materials? Here's the easiest way.

List of tools and materials:

  • plywood sheet (10 mm);
  • plywood sheet (4 mm);
  • steel sheet (2 mm);
  • bolts and nuts;
  • drill;
  • chisel;
  • sanding paper;
  • file.

The base of the hand jigsaw is a bracket; it should be prepared from a plywood sheet (10 mm). Further, it is recommended to make the nubs for the tool handle from thinner plywood (4 mm). These nubs must be glued to the handle on both sides, which will ensure more convenient later on. The staple and the handle should be well finished with sanding paper and a file. Cut out the steel plate with a chisel and then file the clamping jaws. After that, drill the slots in the jaws with a drill, and then cut out the notches inside the clamping jaws with a sharp chisel. In the left-hand clamping jaw, modify the slot for the bolt, for this you need to make a thread. Attach the jaws to the bracket, then screw the bolts into the left clamp, securing them with nuts.

Desktop jigsaw: two production options

The tabletop fixture can be made both new and by means of revision or repair of improvised means.

Making a new desktop power jigsaw will require the following tools and materials:

  • duralumin pipe;
  • plastic base;
  • clamps;
  • screws;
  • copper sheet;
  • drill.

First you need to prepare the frame, for this purpose it is better to use a duralumin pipe. In the manufacture of the frame, it is necessary to provide a passage through which the cord will be laid to provide power. A copper sheet should be taken to make a U-shaped frame, which will subsequently need to be attached to the frame itself. At the junction of the frame with the handle of the jigsaw, fasten the frame with screws. In the plastic base, drill a hole for the file with a drill, as well as the slots for the fasteners. Fix the jigsaw on the prepared plastic so that the file passes through the hole. Using clamps, attach the finished instrument to a flat surface such as a table.

A hand-held device made on the basis of a sewing machine is ideal if repairing a sewing machine is not as important as making such a tool. List of tools and materials:

  • sewing machine (both foot and hand models can be used);
  • file;
  • file;
  • drill.

Having unscrewed the bolts at the bottom of the sewing machine, remove the entire threading system. Next, knock out the metal fastening rod and remove the drive shaft of the thread weaving system. The panel covering the sewing machine parts can be easily removed by unscrewing 2 more bolts. Remove the needle carefully. The needle slot requires minor repairs - it needs to be widened to accommodate the file. To do this, it is better to saw the hole with a file, focusing on the size of the file itself. After that, adjust its size to the maximum possible size of the needle by cutting off the upper part of the file. After filing the upper teeth with a file, and the lower part on the point, you can proceed to the next step. The prepared file must be put in place of the former needle - in the needle holder. After that, turn the wheel and check:

  • so that the saw does not come into contact with the panel and the presser foot;
  • so that in the upper position the plywood passes freely under the saw;
  • so that the stretching of the material runs smoothly.

Such a jigsaw is suitable for working with materials from plywood, balsa wood and plastic, and if you use an electric machine, you get an electric jigsaw.
