Venerable Savva the Sanctified was born in the 5th century in Cappadocia. At the age of 17 he accepted monasticism and was so successful in fasting and prayer that he was awarded the gift of miracles. After ten years of monastic asceticism, the Monk Sava set off for Jerusalem and until the age of 30 he stayed in a nearby monastery with a strict co-ordinate ustav. After that, he shut up in a cave and only on Saturdays left the shutter and came to the monastery, where he participated in divine services and took food. After some time, the Monk Sava for five years asceticised in a cave in complete seclusion. He excelled in the highest monastic virtues. Then the Monk Sava settled in one of the caves, and his disciples began to gather around him. This is how the great Lavra arose. The Monk Savva founded several more monasteries, wrote the so-called "Jerusalem" charter of church services. Many miracles were revealed through his prayers. The monk reposed in the year 532.

In our prayers, we will glorify the godly life of the Monk Sava, ask for prayerful intercession for us, sinners, so that the Lord will vouch for us to get rid of the fire of hell. Memory of St. Savva the Consecrated on December 5 (December 18 in civilian style).
