Automatic crab from Gilex. Gilex crab automated pump control system Correction of operating errors

When installing a water supply system for a private home, users are faced with the need to automate processes. To save money and time on installation work, the Jlex company has developed a complex element called the Crab.

The Crab system is used to maintain the required pressure, turn on and off pumping equipment in the water supply and filtration section.

1 Main system elements

Gilex Crab is installed in a pumping station. The complex consists of the following nodes:

  • hydraulic distribution housing, consisting of dense plastic with a tap and valve;
  • capacity of fifty or twenty-four liters, depending on the model. The container is protected from corrosion by a steel case with an anti-corrosion glass-ceramic coating;
  • water purification filter with key for installation work and cartridge;
  • two fittings;
  • mechanical pressure gauge;
  • relay automatic type, which is used for setting up with an electrical connection;
  • electric wire;
  • cord for connecting to the network;
  • device for fixing the installation.

1.1 What are the advantages and disadvantages of Gilex automation?

The device has its advantages and disadvantages. Advantages:

  • the presence of a socket at the pressure switch saves money and time;
  • used for surface and submersible pumps, the power of which does not exceed one thousand W;
  • built-in components in the structure simplify installation and reduce the time spent on connecting additional elements;
  • no need to install a check valve and tap;
  • the possibility of water entering the tank on the right and left simplifies the installation of the device;
  • the presence of a reminder about changing the cartridge is another plus of the unit;
  • cost savings of twenty-five percent compared to purchasing parts separately;
  • warranty period is two years.

Flaws:

  • if the flange breaks, all built-in components may fail;
  • lack of idle protection;
  • The cartridge's performance is enough to use one faucet. When two taps are used simultaneously, the quality of cleaning decreases.

1.2 Varieties

The automatic Crab unit is divided into two models:

2 Installation

Before installing the wall Crab, you need to make sure that the wall can withstand maximum load. The wall must be load-bearing.

Holes for the mounting bracket are marked and drilled on the wall.

Applied to the wall fastener, dowels are inserted into the hole and screwed using screws.

Fastening is made to the fastener using a steel clamp. Installation is carried out in accordance with the direction of the arrows on the housing. If it is necessary to connect to the pipeline on the other side, you must rotate the device. For these purposes with reverse side the housing has a plug.

The crab is connected to the pressure pipe.

When the pump is turned off, the pressure in the system is maintained thanks to the built-in check valve.

To prevent air from entering the system, a check valve is installed on the outlet pipe.

After immersing the pump in the liquid, the pump is connected to the pressure switch.

Upon completion of installation and testing of the connecting elements, the Crab is connected to electricity.

After the completed manipulations, the system is ready for operation. When the tap opens, water flows into the tap with good pressure. When the tap is opened, the device will supply liquid by turning on and off the pump as needed.

During operation, filters must be changed. The change process consists of the following points:

2.1 Breakdowns and their elimination

During operation, problems arise that can be resolved independently:

  • The pump runs constantly without stopping. The reason is low mains voltage, the filter is full, the relay is adjusted to high pressure. To eliminate it, it is necessary to adjust the pressure, install a stabilizer, replace the filter;
  • the pump does not turn on. The reason is the lack of voltage, the connection to the plug is interrupted or damaged. To eliminate the voltage, check the connection or change the connection to the plug;
  • the pump turns on more often than necessary. The reason is deformation of the tank or membrane. To resolve this, contact specialists;
  • presence of air in the system. The reason is the absence of a check valve or air entering the Crab. To eliminate this, a check valve is installed and the leaks are checked.

2.3 How to decide on the choice of model?

For selection required model you need to know how many water intake points will be located in the residential premises. Water intake points include shower, faucet, toilet, washing and Dishwasher. When the number of residents is up to three and with the likelihood of simultaneous use of a maximum of two points, select a model with a twenty-four liter tank. If the number of residents is more than four and the simultaneous use of two or more points, select a model with a 50 liter tank.

2.4 Cautions for use

Due to the ease of installation and filter replacement, the Crab is suitable for household use and service. The crab is easy to set up even for non-professionals. A properly adjusted device will serve for a long time without malfunctions and provide a constant supply of water to the taps and household appliances. An automated system replaces a pumping station with significant savings cash for the purchase and installation of additional elements.

Thank you very much, I also bought a 50/55a Vodomet, but this is how my system was laid from a well: arr. valve - to the house PND-32 (in total from the well to the house 4 m and down into the well below the mirror 4 m) - connection through an adapter for 32 propylene (since underground the HDPE was cut short) further to the Crab. I want to connect the Crab to an American connection on both sides. I haven’t hung it up yet - I’m asking for advice from those who installed it. And another question: was the diameter of the Crab pipe narrowed by 20 to the consumer? Thank you.

PS: the system is not assembled yet, everything is in boxes.

The crab's installation is very simple, and it was this circumstance that played a decisive role in choosing “what to buy.” I hung this crab on my neighbors in the country, I myself had everything assembled separately (tank 50, five-piece, filter, pressure gauge), so I fully felt the difference in installation. Placing crab is easier and faster, and much faster.
If there are two American women, bet two, you won’t regret it.
The fastening is very simple: we take it out of the box, loosen two clamps, pull the tank out of the mount, hang the mount itself on the wall, insert the tank and tighten the clamps, then attach it. In the crab both join with internal thread 1 inch
When marking the wall mount, leave space at the top so that you can pump air into the tank, if necessary (nipple at the top of the tank).
Where I placed the crab there were not many consumers: SM, shower, water heater for dishes and one faucet for the street. All this was routed before me with a 1/2 and 3/4 galvanized pipe and was powered by 80 liter barrel in the attic through a black 3/4 pipe. This worked for 10 years, or even more. Each outlet had its own tap. The funny thing is that all the taps had to be removed and put back in place, because from the pressure they all began to flow at the connection points (but did not flow from the barrel)
From the crab to 3/4 of the pipe there is the same 25 HDPE as from the well with a transition to 3/4 at the point of connection to the pipe.
In general, my opinion is that the crab is needed to simplify installation, if not for problems with leaks, then the entire installation would have taken 20 minutes, but it took almost 4 hours to tinker.

P.s. I'm not a plumber, but it was entertaining and exciting. I like it. now I wonder how the crab will behave in winter unheated room with drained water. With my system, I managed to achieve decent results only after three winters.
First, a metal-plastic pipe ruptured and ball valve, on the second, the five-piece burst and the pressure gauge died, on the third, another ball valve closed. Now in the fall, before shutting down, I blow the entire system with air from the compressor, leaving all the ball valves in open state, and I take off the pressure gauge and take it home. With this situation, 4 winters the flight is normal.

The main elements of the complex and their interaction

The Gilex CRAB 50 (CRAB 24) automation kit is assembled from several interconnected design elements:

    The hydraulic accumulator (1) is made of steel coated with anti-corrosion enamel, inside it is equipped with a removable butyl rubber membrane (2) and an air pumping-bleeding nipple (3);

    The plastic body of the system machine (4) has a connection point for the membrane tank flange and external thread for connection with the nut of the plastic flask of the filter cartridge (10). There are also threaded fittings with a 1-inch internal thread (5), an emergency ball valve (6), check valve(7) and mechanical water pressure gauge (8);

    Main automated unit system - the pressure switch (9) has electrical outlets for its own recharge from a single-phase alternating network of 220 V and power supply to the electric pump;

    Special plastic key for removing the flask with filter elements (11);

    Steel clamp with bracket for fastening the entire set in a vertical position (12);

    Plastic playground for attaching a dating scale with a slider for fixing the filter replacement date mark (13);

    ¼ (14) and ¾ (15) inch bronze plugs allow water flow to be reversed;

    Power cable with a plug for connecting the automation to the network (16) and a separate socket cable (17) for connecting the pump.

The Gilex CRAB 50 (CRAB 24) automation system will automatically turn on the pump through a pressure switch if the pressure in the house’s water supply line drops beyond the lower configured threshold. This will cause the pump to begin replenishing the system with water. If there is no water flow (the taps are closed), the pump fills the membrane tank until a pressure in the line is created equal to the upper setting threshold. The pump is switched off. When the supply taps are opened, water flow from the accumulator begins, which will lead to a drop in the water pressure in the main line to the lower set level - the relay will turn the pump back into operation.

Simultaneously with the automation of the process of turning the pump on and off, the kit drives the supplied water through the filter element in the flask. Thus, the water entering the taps is cleaned of harmful impurities and becomes suitable for drinking.

On the mounting of the hydraulic accumulator to the system there is an arrow in the direction of water flow. It is necessary to orient the system in the desired direction to the common highway. If there is a need to change the position of the system, it is enough to simply turn the system in the desired direction.

All pipes in the system do not require additional insulation from leaks, since they have rubber seals.

Instead of plugs you can install additional elements home water supply automation from the Jeelex brand.

To prevent air from entering the line when the pump is stopped, you need to install an additional check valve behind the outlet pipe of the pumping element of the system.

Install the pump as recommended in its instructions. The source of electricity for it will be the socket of the automated complex. Check all CRAB water connections. Now you can connect it to a 220 V network via a cable with an electrical plug. All. You can use the system in automatic mode and always have clean water at the selected pressure.

Mechanical adjustment of the CRAB pressure switch is carried out according to the operating instructions for the complex.

Possible malfunctions and their elimination

Main selection criteria

The automated CRAB system is suitable for use in combination with any single-phase household pumps. The difference between the KRAB 24 and KRAB 50 models is only in the volume of hydraulic accumulators and the possibility of connecting disassembly points. Systems with a 24 liter tank can have up to 2 sampling points, 50 liter models - from 2 or more water outlets. There are differences in the weight of structures. The CRAB 24 is lighter than the CRAB 50 by exactly 4 kg due to the size of the tank. The automation systems of these systems are absolutely identical.

Checking Gilex Crab on a demonstration stand (video)

For a stable supply of water with the required pressure values, it is not enough to simply buy a pumping station. The equipment still needs to be configured, launched and properly operated. Admit it, not all of us are familiar with the intricacies of settings. But the prospect of damaging devices through incorrect actions is not very attractive, don’t you agree?

You will learn about the causes of pressure drop and become familiar with methods for eliminating them. Graphic and photo applications will explain how to properly configure pumping equipment.

A ready-made pumping station, equipped by the manufacturer, is a mechanism for forced submission water. Its operation scheme is extremely simple.

The pump pumps water into an elastic container located inside a hydraulic accumulator, also called a hydraulic tank. When filled with water, it stretches and puts pressure on the part of the hydraulic tank that is filled with air or gas. The pressure, reaching a certain level, causes the pump to turn off.

During water intake, the pressure in the system drops, and at a certain moment, when the values set by the owner are reached, the pump starts working again. A relay is responsible for turning the device off and on; the pressure level is controlled using a pressure gauge.

Disturbances in household work pumping station may cause damage to plumbing equipment

Our recommended article will introduce you in more detail to the principle of operation, types and installation schemes proven in practice.

Causes of hardware problems

Statistics of malfunctions in the operation of domestic pumping stations say that most often problems arise due to a violation of the integrity of the membrane, pipeline, water or air leakage, as well as due to various contaminants in system.

The need to intervene in its work may arise for many reasons:

  • Sand and various substances, dissolved in water, can cause corrosion, lead to malfunctions and reduced equipment performance. To prevent clogging of the device, it is necessary to use filters that purify the water.
  • A decrease in air pressure in the station causes frequent operation of the pump and its premature wear. It is recommended to measure the air pressure from time to time and adjust it if necessary.
  • The lack of tightness of the joints of the suction pipeline is the reason that the engine runs without turning off, but cannot pump liquid.
  • Incorrect adjustment of the pressure of the pumping station can also cause inconvenience and even breakdowns in the system.

To extend the life of the station, it is recommended to carry out periodic inspections. Any adjustment work must begin by disconnecting from the power supply and draining the water.

Energy consumption and maximum pressure should be checked periodically. An increase in energy consumption indicates friction in the pump. If the pressure drops without any leaks detected in the system, then the equipment is worn out

Correction of errors in operation

Before proceeding with more serious intervention in the operation of the equipment, it is necessary to take the simplest measures - clean the filters, eliminate leaks. If they do not produce results, then proceed to further steps, trying to identify the root cause.

The next thing you need to do is adjust the pressure in the accumulator tank and.
