Wall ornament and color combination

As you have noticed, looking at the photo of the first part of the article, the ornament on the yellow wallpaper is almost not present. And if you look at the catalog in the store, then there will not be a wide variety of drawings either. And the reason is not the price. The fact is that the color is bright in itself, and the drawing can become simply superfluous. However, rarely does not mean "not when".

Wallpaper ornament options

What does not happen on yellow wallpaper for walls is huge lurid flowers and monograms. What you see in the photo below can be considered the limit of the size and intensity of the color of the ornament. As a rule, this is not a large drawing, up to 10 cm in diameter, made with thin lines or without color at all, due to the texture. Line colors are white or shades of gray. If we talk about the types of ornament - most often these are primitive florals - for example, roses or tulips, as well as floral and geometric patterns.

Note: also occasionally you can find yellow striped wallpaper. They are used, like other options with a pattern, not often. Basically, if the goal is to visually raise low ceilings or expand the room to the sides. The striped wallpaper itself is most often pale, and the stripes are white or light gray. Bright options should be avoided, or used in the form of small inclusions in the main finish.

A good option is single drawings of a large size. They are located only on one of the walls, and the rest are finished with plain wallpaper. The color of this pattern can be white, gray or black. True, in shops of finishing materials, there is no particular variety of such wallpapers, and most likely they will have to be made to order.

Combinations of wall finishes

As always, the most popular color used "in company" with others is white, boiling or milky. In this case, it is intended to muffle, cool the brightness of yellow, dilute it. It can be used both in a 50/50 combination and in minimal quantities. If you take the photo below, then abandoning white when using yellow of such brightness could make the interior uncomfortable for perception.

Here is another use case for incorporating white wallpaper into the interior. Here the combination is triple: a board with stripes along the bottom of the walls, and a panel with a floral pattern a little higher. The design is rather controversial due to the brightness of the main shade. It is best used in a lobby or in a spacious hallway.

A good result can be obtained by combining shades of green and yellow. Green will slightly muffle and cool yellow. This option is equally well suited for both the bedroom and the hall or living room. The tones should be chosen the lightest, since the excessive intensity of the finish will negate all the benefits of this combination.

The brightness of yellow shades allows them to pair even black and dark gray, which is sometimes difficult to do with other colors of the spectrum. However, do not decorate too small rooms in this way, the walls with gray-yellow wallpaper will "crush". Please note: the room in the photo does not look too dark or gloomy at all.
