Types of laminate locks: Click, Lock, metal, plastic, aluminum, which locks are better? Types of laminate locks: what is it? Laminate with slam lock

In today's world, laminate flooring is popular. A special system for laying laminated panels, which snaps them together with a lock, allows you to update the floor quickly and easily.

The service life of the flooring directly depends on the quality of the locks and adherence to the technology of laying panels.

Peculiarities

The technology of laminate locking was developed not so long ago, but it has already managed to earn the love and recognition of people related to the repair. There are several reasons for this:

  • Laminate locks facilitate the process of laying flooring. Installation does not require additional fasteners or glue. The snap-in device is already built into the panel.
  • If the panel is damaged, the broken part can be easily replaced. This increases the life of the laminate.

  • The locking system for fastening laminate panels allows you to lay the most accurate floor covering without protruding or depressed areas.
  • The sides have a special shape, which, when snapped together, connect the panels without gaps and do not allow moisture to pass through. This reduces the chance of mold growing under the floor covering.

Options & Description

First, let's look at the basic types of locks:

  • Locke locks appeared much earlier than another type and are considered more budgetary. This mechanism works according to the “thorn-groove” principle, that is, on the one hand, the laminate board is equipped with a spike with a comb for fixing, and on the other hand it is a groove. Installation of lamellas with the Lock system is carried out by driving the spike into the groove cavity using a wooden mallet or a hammer with a rubber head until it is fully connected. Unfortunately, during operation, the combs wear out from the load on the panels, so gaps may form in the flooring.

  • click locks, which are also used to connect lamellas, are considered more modern and made with past mistakes in mind. The name of Click locks comes from the characteristic click that is usually heard when panels are closed. The technology for the production of click-lock panels is similar to the previous type. However, the side with the spike is made in the form of a hook, and the groove cavity is designed in such a way that this hook hooks. Assembling the floor covering with such a fastening system does not require much effort and is done quite quickly. To do this, the panel with the hook side is inserted into another with a groove at an angle of 45 °. Then the panel should be lowered. Then a click will be heard, indicating the entry of the spike into the groove.

Unlike the lock system, click locks are not afraid of heavy loads, and are also easy to disassemble.

In addition to basic locks, many companies, using their own technologies, produce laminate with patented locks. Among the existing proprietary developments are:

  • Just Click from the Austrian company Egger can be called a classic example of locks with a click system. The panels are closed at an angle of 30° to 45° around the entire perimeter, due to the high spike, tight joints are obtained, which makes the laminate resistant to serious loads. Some Egger slats with a justclick system come with a special Silenzio backing that helps to soften the sound of footsteps.

  • Uniclic is an achievement of the company Quick Step from Belgium. A special feature is that it can be snapped in both at an angle and when attaching and even knocking down the planks. This variety is suitable for inexperienced users. Laminate with a uniclick system is perfect for finishing the floor in rooms with a non-standard shape, various obstacles and hard-to-reach places - a multi-level floor or a low-lying battery.

  • ProLoc and SmartLock are developments of the Belgian firm Prego. The first variety is represented by a three-component fastener system, which increases the resistance of the laminate to heavy loads and allows you to repeatedly disassemble and assemble the floor covering. The second type refers to simpler mounting systems that are easily mounted at any angle and easily transfer loads.

  • Another company Berry Alloc manufactures its products in Belgium and Norway, and the Norwegian laminate is produced with aluminum locks. The patented names of the locking connections of this company are of two types - 4G and 5G-S Aluminum Locking System. These locks successfully combine all the best qualities of the two main types of locks, and the metal tongue and groove system increases the strength of the fastening and makes the installation process faster.

Aluminum locks allow the use of laminate flooring in places with increased traffic and high intensity of foot traffic. According to the manufacturer, the panels can be disassembled 3 times and reassembled without losing the quality of the flooring.

  • Also found locks 5G with a plastic insert that resembles a tongue. A distinctive feature of this type of locks is the assembly of panels in a horizontal position, which allows even a beginner to lay the coating.

  • Snap-in system for laminated panels T-Lock is a Tarkett development. This type of lock allows you to snap the spike into the groove of another panel at an angle of 45 °, not only along the length of the laminate, but also from its end side. Such a system is characterized by reliability and strength of the connection. Dual-clutch laminate is able to withstand considerable loads and last a long time. During operation, T-Lock is not erased, does not break and does not diverge.

  • Another popular lamella lock ClickXpress equipped with a rounded bottom on the side of the tongue and groove, no plastic parts in the model. The possibility of assembling and disassembling such a coating comes up to 4 times.

Which is better?

It is quite difficult for a person who is not professionally involved in repair work to choose a suitable laminate among a variety of key connections.

According to most experts, click-lock flooring is considered the most practical design. And although Lock locks are less prone to stretching over time and are easier to disassemble if necessary, and the price of such a laminate is more democratic, they are still a more outdated modification. Over time and under the influence of heavy loads joints at the joints wear out, forming gaps between the panels.

The Click system, in turn, guarantees maximum strength of connections during repeated assembly and disassembly and without damaging the lock system. Laying such a coating is very simple and fast, even on a floor with minor irregularities.

And although you will have to pay more money for such a laminate, the quality of the coating will remain at its best for more than one year.

How to connect correctly?

The method of laying laminated panels and their connection to each other depends on the type of laminate. Before laying the slats in any case need to eliminate the difference and unevenness of the floor with a screed, and then lay the substrate.

There are two options for connecting panels when installing a laminate. The adhesive method, due to a special technology, protects the joints between the panels from moisture penetration. Therefore, the life of the floor covering is significantly increased. But this method has many negative points. For example, spending extra money on purchasing a special waterless adhesive, besides, gluing a laminate is always more difficult and longer. The warm floor is absolutely incompatible with the adhesive way of laying the laminate.

In order to lay the laminate in this way, it is necessary to apply glue to the grooved part of the panel and insert a spike into it. Then, using a hammer with a wooden head, you need to press the lamellas together as tightly as possible. Excess adhesive must be removed with a cloth. First you need to lay out three rows of lamellas and wait a few hours until the glue is taken. Then you can fill the rest of the room with lamellas.

Before the floor covering is completely dry, at least half a day should pass.

However, due to the ease of installation, hardware stores are increasingly offering laminated panels with different locks. Laminate with Lock-locks is assembled by hammering one panel into another. Most Click-mechanisms are connected at an angle, and when the panel is lowered to the floor, the lock closes. If necessary, the panels can also be knocked out with a hammer.

Laminate with a lock connection has approximately the same assembly algorithm. Before laying, you need to measure the width of the room so that at least 5 cm is left for the last row in length. If necessary, shorten the lamellas of the first row. In addition, it is necessary to leave gaps for thermal expansion.

When laying panels with glue or using Lock-locks, the panels must be joined first along the length, and then along the end side. Click-locks are characterized by picking up the entire row of slats at once and attaching it with a whole canvas to the previous row.

Therefore, for a large area of \u200b\u200bthe room, it is better to enlist the support of an assistant.

Why does it diverge?

Sometimes even such an impeccable flooring as laminate can disperse. Then it is necessary to determine the cause of damage to the coating and, if possible, eliminate it.

The reason for the failure of the laminate can be dry air, because of which the panels shrivel and crack. To avoid this, you need to constantly ventilate the room, or install a humidifier.

Neglecting the screed before laying the laminate floor will cause the laminate on an uneven floor to diverge, creak or wobble when walked on, and the locks to become unusable.

If the panel lock broke very quickly, then this may be due to the poor quality of the goods. No need to chase cheapness and choose models from unknown manufacturers.

Non-compliance with laying technology laminate flooring also often leads to coating problems. Often, during installation, they forget to leave gaps, and when the boards swell, the laminate cracks. Do not forget to remove construction debris from the floor, since even a small stone can disrupt the operation of the highest quality castle.

Variety of sizes, colors and textures. This is not limited to the choice of laminate flooring. An additional factor in deciding whether to purchase a particular material may be the connection system. Consider the most popular types of laminate locks that provide the necessary technical requirements for laying. We will also figure out which locking system is best suited for each specific case. And finally, we will give a few recommendations for installation and maintenance.

Several decades have passed since the creation of such a coating as a laminate. During this time, technology has changed a lot, this also applies to locks. Every 2-3 years, manufacturers introduce a new type of connection, arguing this with improved stability and ease of installation. However, each prototype comes down to two basic ones: Lock and Click. Let's consider them in more detail.

The most popular collapsible systems that have won the recognition of laying masters. For each of these types of castles, there are many subspecies. Some of them can be found only in individual manufacturers, while others, on the contrary, are in service with most well-known laminate manufacturers.

Both basic systems are based on a tenon-and-groove connection. The difference is only in the profiling of the connecting parts.

Which lock is better Lock or Click

We will make a comparison according to the characteristics that are most relevant for the buyer.

  • cheaper;
  • tight connection.
  • with prolonged use (with a deviation from the installation and operation standards), gaps between the lamellas may appear;
  • a more complex laying process using a mallet and a padding strip;
  • the risk of damage to the lock during installation.
  • ease of installation;
  • installation is made without additional tools;
  • increased strength;
  • during operation, the lock does not wear out, cracks do not appear;
  • a tight connection is ensured when using double locks;
  • the possibility of mounting on an imperfectly flat surface;
  • safe assembly with minimal chance of damaging the lock;
  • the possibility of re-coupling after dismantling the coating.
  • high price.

Let's take a closer look at the pros and cons of both systems below.

Lock locks

Translated from English, the name of the compound is translated as "castle". This method of fastening laminated panels is one of the very first. At present, this type of surface closure is technologically obsolete.

On the one hand, the mating surfaces are a groove, on the other hand, a spike, which are cut by a cutter on the bearing layer of the board.

The installation principle is as follows:

  1. An attached board is attached to the board located on the floor at an angle of 0 °.
  2. A padding bar is substituted for the opposite side of the lamella.
  3. With light blows of the mallet on the bar, we achieve tight contact until the gap is eliminated.

Advice: tamping should be done carefully, without any extra effort, since with strong blows with a mallet, there is a high probability of damage to the lock.

If the connection is correctly installed, the stud fully enters the groove, the comb fixes it into the stud in the recess and prevents the adjacent panels from coming out of the hitch. This type of lock is also called a lock.

The weak link in the design is precisely the comb, which takes most of the stress on itself. The connection between the groove and the thorn is quite tight, however, with frequent loads on the lock, the comb is abraded. In the future, cracks appear at the attachment point. This defect cannot be eliminated without dismantling and subsequent replacement of the panel.

But this defect can be prevented. To do this, it is necessary to install the laminate on a perfectly flat surface with the elimination of the smallest particles of construction debris and the use of a substrate material that will not give a strong subsidence during operation. Otherwise, any "pebble" under the coating will create additional stress in the castle, reducing the life of your flooring.

Otherwise, even though the technology is outdated. This type of laminate lock provides all the necessary performance properties, subject to proper installation and further use. However, manufacturers prefer the Click system, so finding the “old version” is becoming increasingly difficult (if we are talking not about Chinese fakes, but about certified manufacturers).

Click locks

A relatively new technology, according to which the panels are fixed by means of snaps. The main distinguishing features from Lock, apart from the installation method, is a different shape of the tongue with a groove profiling for it.

The spike is also located on the carrier plate and looks like a small hook.

The installation method is as follows:

  1. A panel to be mounted is brought to the board laid on the floor at an angle of 45°. The angle may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, so this point needs to be clarified.
  2. The hook is driven into the groove.
  3. The panel is lowered to the horizontal.
  4. A characteristic click is heard, the connection is made.

It is because of this click that the system got its name.

There is no need for additional tools during installation. You don’t need to make special efforts, finish it off with a mallet or hammer too. Otherwise, the key edge may be damaged.

Note: if, when fixing the plank, a small gap remains, then to select it, it is necessary to lightly tap with a mallet on a previously substituted bar or other laminate board. This must be done carefully so as not to spoil the lock element.

This type of connection is characterized by good density and operational properties - the retaining edge in the groove practically does not wear out over time. Therefore, such a laminate will last a long time without the appearance of gaps and cracks.

Also, the canvas assembled by the Click system can be reassembled. However, it is worth considering that during the life of the laminate takes on the smallest unevenness of the floor, and in a new place the adhesion may not be so tight, even taking into account the numbering of the boards.

The Click method does not require such strict restrictions on the evenness of the surface on which it is laid (unlike Lock), but this does not mean that it is not necessary to level the base. An even base for laminate is a prerequisite for installation.

Let's consider several subtypes of the Click system, which are the most popular.

Uniclic

It is mainly represented by the Quick Step brand. Installation can be done by simple snapping - for this it is enough to bring one panel to another at an angle of 25-30 ° and fix it. There is also the possibility of laying horizontally with joint padding, for laying in the last row.

It has fairly good strength properties. Withstands a tensile load of up to 450 kg per linear meter.

System advantages:

  • the lock snaps into place without much effort;
  • reassembly is possible;
  • laying both from left to right and from right to left;
  • moisture treatment.

Minuses:

  • over time, the lock may disperse along the end of the bar due to the low ridge in the groove.

JUST clic and UNI fit

Patented systems under the Egger brand.

JUST click replaced Pro clic. Unlike its predecessor, assembly of the entire series is required. The bar has two identical tongues and two identical grooves, which makes it possible to engage on both sides. It has a high assembly speed.

The groove and spike are profiled in the form of a conjugated oval, in connection with which a tighter contact is provided over an increased contact area. The gaps in the lock are minimal, so even the smallest debris is not allowed - check the strips before mounting.

Lamel with a lock UNI-fit can be fixed to the previous row separately, that is, it is not necessary to assemble a whole row for subsequent fastening. The spikes and grooves on the end and the long side are different.

SmartLock and ProLock

Both options are presented by Pegro. SmartLock is a more primitive version in terms of profiling - there is one additional retaining element on the top of the slot missing. As a result, a lower contact density is observed.

Most modern Pergo laminate models are equipped with the ProLock system. Both types of locks have a water-repellent impregnation, which, coupled with a massive fibreboard base, makes this coating well protected from moisture (seam sealants are used for even better protection).

ClickXPress, DropXPress, PressXPress

Represented by the brand Balterio.

ClickXPress represents a bunch of groove-thorn with a profiling of the lower part in the form of an oval conjugation. Laying is done at an angle of 45°.

The advantages of this connection include:

  • reliability;
  • strength;
  • imperceptible high-quality seam;
  • reassembly;

DropXPress is not inherently a Click-lock. The connection profile consists of two L-shaped hooks. The hitch is held due to the weight of the laminate panel and the friction force, since the lowering of the board at an angle of 0 ° from top to bottom occurs with an interference fit.

This method has its advantages:

  • increased laying speed;
  • ease of installation
  • the same locks for the end and the long part

PressXPress- mounts with a counter-element, included in the new generation of 5g. When the board is seated in the groove, the fastening element is displaced, which is driven into the recess. Thus, the effort required for installation is minimal.

Advantages of the castle:

  • increased installation speed;
  • strong connection;
  • invisible seam;
  • possibility of installation at any angle.

In 2017, a new connection was presented at Domotex FitXPress, which will be used on Balterio's Magnitude Series laminate flooring, replacing PXP. The difference between the locks lies in the shape of the latch tongue.

Megaloc

Used on Classen laminate. It is a modification of the 5g system. Replaced the outdated EasyConnect model. The locking tab is located in the groove, not on the tongue. Just like on the Pergo coating, wax impregnation is used for moisture insulation.

Installation is carried out in separate panels, and not a whole row at once. Boards are laid at an angle until they click. Work can be done alone without outside help. If necessary, disassemble the connection is not difficult.

T-lock, 2-lock, TC-lock

Featured by Tarkett

T-lock- the old technology is satisfied, at the moment it is quite common, but it is being replaced by modern systems. It has a relatively small joining angle of panels of the order of 20-25°.

Laying may require the participation of several people, since it is necessary to mount the panels in rows as a whole. At the slightest shift of one of the boards, you will have to disassemble the entire row and start the process again.

Of the minuses can be identified:

  • the joint is visible on the end of the laminate, especially in dark colors;
  • with repeated use, the lock along the long part of the lamella may be deformed.

2 lock- newer model. It has a plastic tab to secure the connection. Allows for quick and easy laying even by one person - the assembly is carried out not in a whole row, but in one panel.

TC lock is a T-lock receiver. It is becoming more widespread. The cost does not exceed its predecessor. Unfortunately, old collections cannot be docked with the new TC-lock system due to the height difference.

Perhaps this is the only negative, let's focus on the pros:

  • there is a tighter contact during coupling, therefore, the probability of moisture getting into the interlock is reduced;
  • very good strength characteristics - the level of tensile load exceeds the norm by 8 times;
  • quick and easy assembly;
  • one person can do the installation.

TwinClic

Represented by the Russian brand Kronospan. At its core, it is an analogue of T-lock. It is also not possible to lay one panel at a time - it is necessary to assemble the entire row, which is not always convenient, especially when the installation is performed by one person.

When fixing the board in the groove, there is no pronounced click. It is better not to use this type of lock for laying laminate with a solid floor throughout the apartment, since there is a possibility of raising the joints under loads.

On models of laminate, which is in a low price category, there is very little protection against moisture.

LocTec

Patented Witex laminate locking system. Refers to high-strength compounds. Fairly easy assembly allows you to work alone. The installation process should not be difficult. The result is a smooth floor covering without visible seams.

Docking points are impregnated with a special water-repellent mastic.

Alloc

Introduced by a Norwegian flooring manufacturer. The quality is up to the mark. Has an aluminum insert. It has excellent strength properties, so it is most often used on commercial grade 33 and 34 laminate, which is designed for laying in places with increased operational load.

The advantage in strength becomes especially noticeable in large rooms. For such places, it is possible to lay a laminate without thresholds over the entire area. For ordinary apartments, the installation of such a coating is not advisable, since the high price exceeds the benefits that are not destined to be revealed at home.

Lock processing

Most modern laminate models are protected from moisture in the form of impregnation of the interlock with wax, paraffin, and special mastic. If for some reason you have purchased panels that are not subject to this procedure, then you yourself can perform simple manipulations that will increase protection against moisture.

Such formulations are available in liquid or paste forms. Of particular difference is what consistency you choose. The main thing is that you feel comfortable using the composition.

Advice: if possible, it is worth buying a laminate with protection of locks from moisture.

You can also use sealant to join the panels. In this case, several positive effects can be observed:

  • increased protection against moisture;
  • a tighter connection is made;
  • if necessary, you can mask the seams.

Modern laminate models are equipped with convenient locks that allow you to perform a high-quality joint. In addition, most of them have water-repellent properties and do not need additional processing.

Experienced craftsmen perform installation for any system without loss of connection quality. If you are a beginner, then when choosing the type of laminate locks, preference should be given to models from the 5g generation with a fixing polymer tongue. In this case, laying will be carried out quickly and easily even alone.

Laminate has become the most popular flooring today. This state of affairs is due, among other things, to the ease of installation. All work is easy to do with your own hands, without inviting specialists. This simplicity is due to the presence of special locks on each panel. At their expense, you can quickly lay a beautiful and practical floor. Locks can be used in two designs. We will talk about the features of each in this article.

Which is better Lock or Click

Laminate manufacturers, advertising their products, claim that their panels have the most modern locks, as well as composition and wear resistance. But, despite their assurances and a wide variety of models, there are only two types of locks:

  • Locke locks
  • click locks

Their main difference is a method of docking panels. The first to appear were locks. Over a long century of service, they have proven themselves well for their efficiency.
Such locks look like a milled groove on one side of the panel and a tenon with a fixed comb on the other side. All this construction is carried out by milling. To connect the panels to each other, you need to insert the spike into the groove and score with the help of blows of a wooden mallet.

Useful information! Blows must be applied until the gaps completely disappear. If there is no mallet, then you can use a regular hammer. You just need to wrap it with a rag. When working, you need to be careful. It is required to carefully monitor the condition of the joints between the panels.

Locke locks easy to install and quite reliable. But they are not solved shortcomings. With a long load, the comb on the spikes wears out (the same thing happens if there are significant floor irregularities. While walking on it, the comb is erased). As a result, gaps appear between the panels. Another disadvantage is the impossibility of dismantling. If one panel is damaged, it will be difficult to replace it. Since the locks are disposable and repairing the laminate is practically impossible. click locks a later invention and it is devoid of the shortcomings of its older brother. Such structures are made in the same way, but have a different structure. On one side there is a spike made in the form of a flat hook. On the other side is a platform that engages with the hook.
Such a laminate is even easier to install than a lock lock. For its laying it is unnecessary to use a hammer or mallet. It's done like this- the new panel is installed at an angle of 45 degrees close to the previous one. Then it is smoothly lowered to a characteristic click (because of it, the castle got its name). At this time, the hook enters the groove and the panels are firmly connected almost like with laminate glue. Such a connection can withstand much greater loads than locks. In this case, cracks do not appear. Also eliminated the disadvantage of dismantling. According to the manufacturers, click locks can easily withstand up to four parsing. Whichever lock is used, the connection needs additional protection against moisture penetration. For these purposes, sealant is perfect.

Useful information! If you use click locks, then you should not be afraid that such a coating will not give you the opportunity to dismantle the panels. The sealant is easily removed from the interpanel space and does not interfere with the “opening” of the locks.

The latest developments in laminate flooring

Manufacturers are constantly improving their products. So today you can find a laminate with wax impregnation of locks. The floor after installation looks like a single monolith, the joints are practically invisible. Another advantage of this impregnation is protection against moisture penetration. There is no need to use sealant for such joints. Also today, panels with aluminum locks began to appear. The back side of such a laminate is equipped with a metal lamella. Such locks are able to withstand a load of up to two centners per square meter. This floor is very easy to assemble and disassemble. Moreover, manufacturers sometimes give a lifetime warranty on the joints, they will never have gaps. And you can disassemble the laminate with aluminum locks six times.
You can also find a laminate with additional plastic locks on the ends. The assembly of such a floor is carried out in the usual way, the panels are connected by the sides. Then the ends are connected by simply pressing until it clicks. Laying such a laminate is accelerated by almost three times.

Important! If we conclude from the above, then the answer to the question: which castle is better? - will be - click-lock. It simplifies installation (it can be done without the use of tools, with bare hands) and the connections are much stronger than locks. Also, this design allows for dismantling, and repeated.

All the innovations that have been made to the lock device lately are just modifications of the click lock. They improve the adhesion of the panels and protect them from the formation of cracks at the joints and moisture ingress. But still, this is a proven and long-used click lock.

Laminate is one of the most popular floor coverings and it is not without reason that many prefer it when doing an apartment renovation with their own hands, since this material can be laid on its own, which minimizes the cost of repairs in general. Today we will look at such a process as with a Double clic lock, since such products are manufactured under the Kronostar brand and are quite popular in the repair of premises.

Styling tool

To carry out the work, you will need a hand saw or a jigsaw, a drill or a puncher for mounting the plinth, a tape measure, a puncher and a pencil, so prepare the tool and put it in a conspicuous place so that you don’t waste time looking for it during the work. In order to save money, you can choose a household-class electric jigsaw, because it is not burdensome for the repair budget and will completely cope with the task of cutting the flooring. Modern double clic laminate lock makes work much easier and does not require a lot of tools, however, this does not mean that the process can be approached “slipshod”, so do not lose concentration when working and mistakes will pass you by.

The floor must be level. If there are significant irregularities, then we level the floor along the guide beacons, otherwise the creak of the coating and cracks are guaranteed.

Coating laying

If the installation of the coating will be carried out on a concrete floor base, then it is necessary first of all to provide further hydro- and vapor barrier and spread an insulating film. Do not confuse it with a standard underlay - it rolls out on top of the insulation and ensures the normal operation of the floor covering (does not allow the appearance of laminate creaking, etc.).

Next, the process of self-laying the laminate begins and the first row of the coating is assembled, in which the elements are connected using end locks at an angle of 45 degrees, after which they snap into place. At the same time, do not forget that laying laminate requires a technical indent from the wall of 10 - 20 mm, which will subsequently be closed with a floor plinth - see the video below.

Video

After that, you can proceed to assemble the second row in a similar way, taking into account the fact that the last sheet of the cut cover of the first row becomes the first in the second row, and you must continue to do the same, starting a new row from the remainder of the previous one. After the second row is fully assembled, it is inserted at an angle into the technical gap of the first and also snaps into place using the Double clic lock. Thus, you have a solid surface, well balanced in color and reliable in operation.

It remains only to install the floor plinth and you can enjoy the beautiful interiors in the room, which was achieved by both modern material and its high-quality independent installation, for which, in principle, it did not take much time, but after the work done, the interior design became much more graceful.

Laminate- modern flooring, which has recently become widespread in our country. Its popularity is explained by its high aesthetic and quality characteristics at the best price, affordable for a buyer with an average income level.

In many respects, laminate flooring is superior to natural floors.

The basis of the construction of the laminate is a high-density HDF board, in the thickness of which a lock is cut, thanks to which the installation of the floor is simple and subject to a person who does not have the skills of a builder-finisher. There are a large number of castle structures that differ both in design and assembly technique. Many manufacturers develop their own lock systems, and some manufacturers use previously developed ones.

In this article, we will give an overview of the main designs of laminate locking systems.

ProLoc lock

The ProLoc system is developed and patented by Pergo. The system provides a triple locking system, the installation of the laminate is simple, the joints are treated with wax impregnation. The lock perfectly holds the panels in tight contact and withstands heavy loads. This is one of the most secure locks.

Smart lock

The SmartLock system is a simpler version of ProLoc. The connecting elements of the laminate are also impregnated with water-repellent impregnation. The locking system is reliable, withstands heavy loads. Provides easy installation with an excellent end result.

PROClic lock

PROClic is an innovative development from Egger. Differs in the special geometry allowing to stack on one element. It has high resistance to point loads and tensile strength.

ClickXpress lock

ClickXpress is a development of the Balterio concern. The system is truly revolutionary. Allows you to assemble the laminate very quickly, while the panel joints are difficult to find. The lock allows, if necessary, repeatedly mount and dismantle the floor.

Uniclic Castle

The unique Uniclic system is developed by Quick Step. Differs in an original design of elements. Assembly of panels is simple and convenient. The panel is inserted into another panel along the long side at an angle of 20-30°, then the assembled row is inserted into the previously assembled one and snaps into place. Assembly requires 2 people.

Megaloc Castle

Megaloc is a development of the German manufacturer Classen. This is an innovative invention that allows you to speed up the process of assembling a laminate by 3 times. On the end side of the panel there is an additional movable plastic lock. The assembly is carried out on the long side, as usual, and on the short side, it is enough to press on the board, and it will snap into place without effort. Installation can be done by 1 person. The edges are impregnated with wax protection.

ConnectSystem lock

ConnectSystem is another development from Classen. The system gained great popularity due to its unique streamlined shape. It provides smoothing of the irregularities of the base due to the movable joints at the joints, compensating for the resulting stress between the laminated panels. IsoWaxx edge protection wax protects joints from moisture ingress.

Loctec lock

The LocTec system is Witex's own development. Possesses high rates of durability. This is one of the strongest castles. All edges are treated with wax impregnation, which protects the joints from moisture ingress.

T-lock

The T-Lock system is a Tarkett development that has become widespread in the flooring market. Many manufacturers have adopted this lock. The system very securely fixes the panels in tight contact. The assembly is carried out along the long sides, then the assembled row is inserted at an angle into the previous row and snaps into place with a slight pressure until it clicks.
