SEQUENCE OF THE MIDNIGHT OFFICE

NIGHT OFFICE DAILY

Even the priest says:

Blessed be our God, always, now and ever, and unto ages of ages.
And we say: Amen.

Otherwise, say:

We:Amen.

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of truth, Who is everywhere and fulfills everything, Treasurer of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Good One, our souls.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.

(three times).

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us: Lord, cleanse our sins: Master, forgive our iniquities: Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities for Thy name’s sake.

Lord have mercy

(three times).

Glory... And now...

Our Father, who art in heaven! Hallowed be thy name: thy kingdom come: thy will be done as it is in heaven and on earth. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages.
We are: Amen. Lord have mercy.(12)

Glory, even now.

And Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your mercies, cleanse my iniquity. Above all, wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my iniquity, and I will take away my sin before me. You alone have sinned and done evil before You: so that You may be justified in Your words and overcome Your judgment. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and my mother gave birth to me in sins. You have loved the truth; you have revealed to me the unknown and secret wisdom of Yours. Sprinkle me with hyssop and I will be cleansed; Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Give joy and gladness to my hearing: and humble bones will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins, and cleanse all my iniquities. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Reward me with the joy of Your salvation, and strengthen me with the Lord’s Spirit. I will teach the wicked Your way, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, God of my salvation; my tongue will rejoice in Your righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise. As if you had desired sacrifices, you would have given them: you do not favor burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a contrite spirit: God will not despise a contrite and humble heart. Bless Zion, O Lord, with Your favor, and may the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then please the sacrifice of righteousness, the wave offering and the burnt offering: then they will lay it on the altar

Your Taurus.

Psalm 118.

Blessed are the blameless ones who walk in the law of the Lord: Blessed are those who experience His testimonies, they will seek Him with all their hearts. Those who do not do iniquity walk in his ways. Thou hast commanded that Thy commandments should be preserved: That my ways may be corrected, that Thy justifications may be preserved. Then I will not be ashamed to always look upon all Your commandments. Let us confess to You in the righteousness of our hearts, and let us always learn the destinies of Your righteousness. I will keep Your excuses, do not leave me to the bitter end. In this way the youngest will correct his path; always keep Your words. With all my heart I seek You, do not turn me away from Your commandments. I hide Your words in my heart, lest I sin against You. Blessed art thou, O Lord, teach me by thy justification. My mouth proclaimed all the destinies of Your mouth. On the path of Thy testimonies we have enjoyed ourselves, as in all riches. I will mock Your commandments, and understand Your ways. I will learn from Your justifications; I will not forget Your words. Reward Your servant: live me, and I will keep Your words. Open my eyes, and I will understand the wonders of Your law. I am a stranger on earth, do not hide Your commandments from me. My soul love to desire Your destiny at all times. Thou hast rebuked the proud, cursing those who turn aside from Thy commandments. Take away from me diarrhea and humiliation, as I have sought Your testimonies. For the princes are gray and slander me: but Thy servant mocked at Thy justifications. For Thy testimonies are my teachings, and Thy counsels my justifications. Cling to the earth, my soul, live according to Your word. Thou hast declared my ways, and Thou hast heard me: teach me by Thy justification. Let me understand the path of Your justifications, and I will mock at Your wonders. My soul slumbers from despondency: strengthen me in Your words. Leave the path of unrighteousness from me, and have mercy on me with Your law. I have chosen the path of truth, and I have not forgotten Your destiny. We cling to Your testimony

,Lord, don't put me to shame. The path of Your commandments flowed when You enlarged my heart. Lay down for me, O Lord, the way of Your justifications, and I will seek and take away. Give me understanding, and I will try Your law, and I will keep it with all my heart. Guide me on the path of Your commandments, as I have desired. Incline my heart to Thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. Turn away my eyes from seeing vanity; live me in Your way. Place Your servant in Thy fear. Take away my reproach, O nepshchevah, for Thy fate is good. Behold, I desired the commandments Yours, live me in Your righteousness. And may Your mercy, O Lord, come to me, Your salvation according to Your word. And I answer those who reproach my word: for I have trusted in Your words. And do not take away from my lips the words that are absolutely true: for I have trusted in Your fate. And I will keep Your law forever and ever. And I walked in breadth, as I sought Your commandments. And speak of Thy testimonies before the kings, and do not be ashamed. And I learned in Your commandments, which I loved dearly. And I lifted up my hands to Thy commandments, which I loved, and mocked at Thy justifications. Remember Thy words to Thy servant, whose hope Thou hast given me. So console me in my humility, for Your word lives on me. Pride has transgressed the law to the extreme, but we have not deviated from Your law. I have remembered Your destiny from eternity, O Lord, and have been comforted. I have received sorrow from sinners who forsake Thy law. Peta bahhu your justifications for me, at the place of my coming. I will remember Your name in the night, O Lord, and keep Your law. I prayed to Your face with all my heart: have mercy on me according to Your word. I have thought about Your ways, and returned my nose to Your witness. Let us prepare ourselves and not be embarrassed to keep Your commandments. The sinner has already committed himself to me, and has not forgotten Your law. At midnight I rose to confess to You about the destinies of Your righteousness. I am a partaker of all who fear You and keep Your commandments. Fill the earth with Thy mercy, O Lord; teach me with Thy justification. Thou hast done kindness to Thy servant, O Lord, according to Thy word. Teach me kindness and punishment and reason, as in Thy commandments of faith. First, let us not even humble ourselves, since we have sinned: for this sake I will keep Your word. Thou art good, O Lord, and by Thy goodness teach me by Thy justification. Multiply upon me the unrighteousness of the proud: I will give in to Thy commandments with all my heart. Their hearts are as soft as milk, but they have learned Your law. It is good for me, for you have humbled me:that I may learn by Thy justification. The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver.Three times.
Lord have mercy.
(3) Glory, even now. Amen.

Thy hands make me, and create me: give me understanding, and I will learn Thy commandment. Those who fear You will see me and rejoice, because they trust in Your words. I understood, Lord, that Thy destiny is true, and Thou hast truly humbled me. May Thy mercy comfort me according to Thy word, Thy servant: May Thy compassions come to me, and I will live, for Thy law is my teaching. Let pride be ashamed, for it is the unrighteousness of your lawlessness against me: I will scoff at Your commandments. Let those who fear You and those who know Your testimony convert me. May my heart be blameless in Your justifications, so that I will not be ashamed. My soul disappears for Your salvation, I trust in Your words. My eyes are lost in Thy word, saying: When Thou hast comforted me; Once upon a time I would be like fur on the slate: I have not forgotten Your justifications. How many are the days of Thy servant; when you bring judgment upon me from those who persecute me; The lawbreakers have told me mockery, but not like Thy law, O Lord. All Your commandments are true: having persecuted me unrighteously, help me. For a little while I was not put to death on earth: I did not forsake Thy commandments. Live for me according to Thy mercy, and I will preserve the testimonies of Thy mouth. For ever, O Lord, Your Word remains in heaven. To generation and generation Thy truth, Thou hast founded the earth, and endureth. The day endures through Your teaching, for all kinds of work are done by You. As if it were not for Your law, my teaching, then I would have perished in my humility. I will never forget my excuses, for you have revived me in them.

I am Thine, save me, for I seek the justification of Thy demands. Waiting for a sinner to destroy me, I understood Your testimony. I have seen the end of every end: Thy commandment is great. Since I have loved Your law, O Lord, I have my teaching all day long. Thou hast made me wiser than my enemy through Thy commandment, as I am forever. More than all those who taught me, I understood that Your testimonies are my teaching. Moreover, the elder understood that I have sought Your commandments. I have forbidden my feet from every evil way, that I may keep Thy words. I have not deviated from Your judgments: for You have laid down laws for me. How sweet is Your word to my throat, more than honey to my lips? I understood from Your commandments, and for this reason I hated every way of unrighteousness. The lamp of my feet is Your law, and the light of my paths. I swore and set them to preserve the fate of Your righteousness. I humble myself to the core: Lord, live me according to Your word. Grant me the freedom of my lips, O Lord, and teach me Your destinies. Soul

I will take mine into Your hand, and I will not forget Your law. The sinners have laid a net for me, and from Your commandments they will not go astray. I have inherited Your testimonies forever, for the joy of my heart is the essence. Incline my heart to create Your justifications forever for reward. I have hated the lawbreakers, but I have loved Your law. You are my helper and my protector; I trust in your words. Depart from me, you wicked ones, and I will obey the commandments of my God. Intercede for me according to Your word, and I will live, and do not disgrace me because of my hope. Help me and I will be saved, and I will learn from Your justifications. Thou hast brought to naught all those who depart from Thy justifications, for their thoughts are unrighteous. You who transgress against all the sinners of the earth: for this reason I have loved Your testimony. Nail my fear to Thy fear: from Thy judgments I was afraid. Having done justice and justice, do not betray me to those who offend me. Consider Thy servant for good, so that pride does not slander me. My eyes disappear into Your salvation and into the word of Your righteousness. Deal with Thy servant according to Thy mercy, and teach me Thy justification. I am Thy servant; give me understanding, and I will hear Thy testimony. It is time for the Lord to do: I have destroyed Your law. For this reason I have loved Your commandments more than gold and topaz. For this reason, I was guided by all Your commandments, and I hated every path of unrighteousness. Wonderful is Thy testimony: for this reason I am tested, my soul. The manifestation of Your words enlightens and instructs little ones. My mouth was opened, and my spirit was drawn, because I desired Thy commandments.

Glory to the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. Glory to You, God.

Three times.
Lord have mercy.
(3) Glory, even now. Amen.

Look upon me and have mercy on me, according to the judgment of those who love Your name. Direct my steps according to Thy word, and let not all iniquity possess me. Deliver me from human slander, and I will keep Your commandments. Make Thy face shine upon Thy servant, and teach me Thy justification. My eyes have seen the coming of the waters; I have not kept Thy law. Thou art righteous, O Lord, and Thy judges rule: Thou hast commanded the righteousness of Thy testimony, and the truth greatly. Thy jealousy has consumed me, for I have forgotten Thy words. Thy word is kindled with great passion, and Thy servant is loved. I am the youngest and humbled, I have not forgotten Thy justifications. Your righteousness is righteousness forever, and Your law is truth. Sorrow and need have come upon me: Your commandments are my teaching. The truth of Your testimony endures forever: give me understanding, and I will live. I cried with all my heart, hear me, O Lord, I will seek Your justification. I called upon You, save me, and I will preserve Your testimonies. I went ahead in hopelessness and cried out: I have trusted in Your words. Prepare my eyes for the morning, to learn from Your words. Hear my voice, O Lord, according to Thy mercy: live for me according to Thy destiny. Those who persecute me with iniquity have drawn near, but have departed from Thy law. Thou art near, O Lord, and all Thy ways are the truth. From the beginning I knew from Your testimonies that I founded the age

.See my humility and forgive me, for I have not forgotten Your law. Judge my judgment, and deliver me: live me by Thy word. Salvation is far from the sinner, for I have not sought Your justifications. Thy bounty is many, O Lord, live me according to Thy destiny. There are many who drive me out and afflict me: I have not turned away from Your testimonies. I have seen those who do not understand and have fallen away, because I have not kept Your words. See that I have loved Your commandments: Lord, live for me according to Your mercy. The beginning of Thy words is truth, and the whole destiny of Thy righteousness endures forever. The princes have driven me to hell: and because of Thy words my heart feared. I will rejoice in Your words, for I have gained much gain. I have hated and detested injustice: but I have loved Your law. During the seventh day we praise Thee about the destinies of Thy righteousness. There is peace for many who love Your law, and there is no temptation for them. I have longed for Your salvation, O Lord, and I have loved Your commandments. Preserve my soul Thy testimonies, for all my ways are before Thee, O Lord: May my prayer come near before Thee, O Lord, give me understanding according to Thy word. May my petition come before You, O Lord; deliver me according to Your word. My lips will burst forth with song, when Thou teachest me Thy justification. My tongue proclaims Your words, for all Your commandments are true. May Thy hand be to save me, as I have willed Thy commandments. I have desired Your salvation, O Lord, and Your law is my teaching. My soul will live and praise You, and Your fate will help me. I have gone astray, like a lost sheep: seek Thy servant, for I have not forgotten Thy commandments.

Glory, and now:

I believe in one God the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, visible to all and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only Begotten, who was born of the Father before all ages. Light from light, true God from true God, begotten, uncreated, consubstantial with the Father, to Whom all things were. For our sake, man and our salvation, who came down from heaven, and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became human. She was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried. And he rose again on the third day according to the scriptures. And ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. And again He will come with glory, to judge the living and the dead, His kingdom will have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the life-giving, who proceeds from the Father, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who spoke the prophets. Into one, holy, catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the remission of sins. I hope for the resurrection of the dead: And the life of the next century. Amen.

Holy Trinity:By Our Father:
Priest:For Thine is the kingdom:

Also troparia, tone 8:

Behold, the bridegroom comes at midnight, and blessed is the servant, who will be found when she is awake, but unworthy again, who will be found when she is despondent: take care, therefore, my soul, not to be burdened with sleep, lest you be put to death, and the kingdom be shut up without: but arise, calling: holy, holy Thou art holy, O God, have mercy on us through the Mother of God.

It is a terrible day, my soul, think about it, burning Your light, illuminating with oil: do not worry when a voice comes to You saying: Behold the bridegroom. Take care, my soul, that you do not slack and remain outside interpreting, like the five virgins: but wait vigilantly, so that Christ may be anointed with oil, and He will give you the divine palace of His glory.

And now, the Mother of God:

We pray to you an insurmountable wall, an affirmation of salvation, Virgin Mary: destroy the resistant councils, turn your people’s sorrow into joy, protect your city, help the God-protected kings, pray for the peace of the world, as you are, the Mother of God, our hope. Lord have mercy.(40)

And this prayer:

Who at all times and at every hour, in heaven and on earth, is worshiped and glorified, Christ God, long-suffering, abundantly merciful, abundantly gracious, who loves the righteous and has mercy on sinners, who calls everyone to salvation, promises for the sake of future blessings: Himself, Lord, accept and ours at the hour of this prayer and correct our belly to Your commandments, sanctify our souls, cleanse our bodies, correct our thoughts, cleanse our thoughts: and deliver us from all sorrow, evil and disease: protect us with Your saints Angles, and by their militia we observe and instruct Let us reach into the union of faith and into the mind your unapproachable glory: for blessed art thou unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Bow.
To her, Lord the King, grant me to see my sins, and not to condemn my brother, for blessed art thou unto the ages of ages. Amen.

And follow this prayer:

There is nothing else

Alleluia, left:Lord and Master of my life:and bows, and just say: Master God Father Almighty:and these prayers, from Basil the Great:

It is appropriate to know that these prayers are said from the 22nd September of the month until the week of Vai.

Lord Almighty, God of hosts and all flesh, living in the highest, and looking upon the humble, testing the hearts and wombs, and the hidden reality of man, foreknowledge, beginningless and everlasting light, there is no change, or change of overshadowing: you yourself, immortal to the king, accept Our prayers, even now, for the multitude of Your bounty, boldly, from the bad lips we make to You,

and forgive us our sins, whether we have committed them in deed, word, or thought, knowledge or ignorance, and cleanse us from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit: and grant us with a cheerful heart and a sober thought to pass through the whole night of this present life, awaiting the coming of a bright one. and on the day revealed, Your only begotten Son, our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ: the judge of all will come with glory, to reward everyone according to his deeds, not to fall and become lazy, but to be watchful, and to be raised up in the work that will come, and prepare for joy We will see the divine palace of His glory, where the celebrants hear the unceasing voice and the ineffable sweetness of those who behold Your face, the ineffable kindness: For You are the true light, enlightening and sanctifying all things, and all creation sings to You forever and ever. Amen.

We bless you, O highest God and Lord of mercy, who always does great and unexplored, glorious and terrible things to us, countless in number, giving us sleep for the repose of our weakness, and the weakening of the labors of the arduous flesh. We thank You, for You did not destroy us with

our iniquities: but you usually loved mankind, and in despair you raised us up to glorify Your power. We also pray for Your immeasurable goodness, enlighten our thoughts, our eyes, and raise our minds from the heavy sleep of laziness: open our lips and fill Your praise, so that we can unwaveringly sing and confess to You in all, and from all to the glorified God, the beginningless Father , with Your only begotten Son, and Your all-holy and good life-giving spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages, Amen. Come, let's worship:three times.

And this troparion, voice 2:

Remember, Lord, how good Thy servants are, and if you have sinned in life, forgive: no one is sinless, only You are able to give peace to those who have passed away.

With the depth of wisdom, build everything humanely, and give what is useful to everyone, the only creator, rest, O Lord, the souls of Your servant: for I have placed my trust in You, the creator and builder and our God.

Glory, kontakion:

With the saints, rest your souls, O Christ, where there is no sickness, no sorrow, no sighing, but endless life.

And now, the Mother of God:

We bless you all, O virgin Mother of God: for the inconceivable Christ our God was pleased to be contained in you. Blessed are we too, who have intercession for you: pray for us day and night, and the sceptres of the kingdom are confirmed by your prayers. Thus we cry out to you: Rejoice, full of grace, the Lord is with you.

Lord have mercy.

And this prayer:

Remember, Lord, in the hope of resurrection, eternal life, our departed fathers and brethren, and all who died in piety and faith, and forgive them every sin, voluntary or involuntary, in word or deed, or thought, committed by them: and I have brought you to a place of light , to a place of coolness, to a place of peace, from where all sickness, sorrow and sighing have fled, where the light of Thy face is present, and all Thy saints from all eternity rejoice: grant to them and to us Thy kingdom, and the communion of Thy ineffable and eternal blessings, and Thy endless blessings and blissful life enjoyment. For You are the life, and the resurrection, and the rest of Your departed servants, Christ our God, and to You we ascribe glory, with Your beginningless Father, and Your most holy and good and life-giving Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages, Amen.

Also Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your mercies, cleanse my iniquity. Above all, wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my iniquity, and I will take away my sin before me. You alone have sinned and done evil before You: so that You may be justified in Your words and overcome Your judgment. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and my mother gave birth to me in sins. You have loved the truth; you have revealed to me the unknown and secret wisdom of Yours. Sprinkle me with hyssop and I will be cleansed; wash yourselves

me, and I will be whiter than snow. Then you will be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, the wave offering and the burnt offering: then they will lay the bullock on Your altar.

According to Psalm 50, Kathisma 9.

A song is due to you, O God, in Zion, and prayer will be given to you in Jerusalem. Hear my prayer, all my flesh will come to you. The lawless one has overcome us with words, and you have cleansed our wickedness. Blessed is he whom thou hast chosen and accepted, shall dwell in thy courts: let us be filled with the good of thy house: holy is thy temple, wondrous in righteousness: hear us, O God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are far off in the sea: Thou hast prepared the mountains with thy strength, girded with strength. Confusing the depths of the sea, who can stand the sound of its waves; the nations will be troubled, and those who dwell in the ends will fear because of your signs: you will decorate the outcome of the morning and evening. Thou hast visited the earth, and thou hast made it drunken; Rejoice in her reins, multiply her life: in her drops she will rejoice, shining. Bless the crown of summer of your goodness, and your fields will be filled with fatness. The red deserts will grow dry, and the hills will girdle with joy. The rams are clothed, and the harvest will multiply the wheat: they will cry, for they will sing.

Shout to the Lord, all the earth, sing to his name, give glory to his praise. Shout to God: since your deeds are terrible, in the abundance of your strength your enemies will lie to you. Let all the earth bow down to you and sing to you, and sing to your name, O Most High. Come and see the works of God, since he is more terrible in council than the sons of men. Turn the sea into land, they will walk in the river with their feet: there

let us rejoice in him, who rules over the world by his power: his eyes look upon the tongues: let not those who grieve be lifted up in themselves. Bless the Gentiles of our God, and let the voice of his praise be heard: He hath laid down my soul in my belly, and hath not allowed my feet to be troubled. As you have tempted us, O God, you have kindled us, as silver is liquified. You brought us into the light; you placed sorrow on our backbone. Thou hast raised up men upon our heads: by dying through fire and water, and thou hast brought us to rest. I will go into your house with a burnt offering: I will reward you with my prayers, which my mouth has spoken, and my lips have spoken in my affliction. I will offer you fat burnt offerings with censer and rams, I will offer you oxen with goats. Come, hear, and I will tell you, all who fear God, create greatness for my soul. In it I cried with my mouth, and was lifted up under my tongue. If I see untruth in my heart, may the Lord not hear me. For this reason, God heard me and listened to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, who has not forsaken my prayer and His mercy from me.

God, be merciful to us and bless us, enlighten your face on us, and have mercy on us: Know your way on earth, your salvation is in all nations. Let people confess to you, God, let all people confess to you. Let the pagans rejoice and rejoice, for you judge people with righteousness, and guide the tongues of the earth. Let people confess to you, God, let all people confess to you. The earth has given its fruit: bless us, O God, our God: Bless us, O God, and may all the ends of the earth fear him.

Glory to the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. Glory to You, God.

Three times.
Lord have mercy.
(3) Glory, even now. Amen.

May God rise again, and may his enemies be scattered, and may those who hate him flee from his face. As smoke disappears, let them disappear, as wax melts from the face of fire, so let sinners perish from the face of God. And let the righteous rejoice: let them rejoice before God, let them enjoy themselves in joy. Sing to God, sing to his name, create a path for him who has ascended to the west: the Lord is his name, and rejoice before him. May they be dismayed at the presence of him, the father of the orphans and the judge

God is a widower in his holy place. God brings like-minded people into the house, destroying those who are bound by courage, and those who are also grieving and living in tombs. God, you never go before your people, you never pass by in the desert: The earth shook, for the heavens were destroyed from the presence of the God of Sin, from the presence of the God of Israel. The rain is free to separate, O God, from your inheritance, and is exhausted: you have done it. Your animal lives on it: you have prepared your goodness for the poor, O God. The Lord will give the word to those who preach the gospel with much power. The king of the beloved's powers, share the home's self-interest with beauty. If you sleep in the middle of the limit, the krill of the dove is covered with silver, and its interspace is in the glitter of gold. The heavenly kings will always be separated from each other, and they will snow in Selmon. The mountain of God, the fat mountain: the strewn mountain, the fat mountain. You never feel the strewn mountains; mountain, where God is pleased to live in it: for the Lord rejoices to the end. The chariot of God is tmami mem, thousands of gob-hungers: the Lord is in them in Sinai in the holy place. Thou hast ascended to the heights, thou hast taken captivity captive: thou hast accepted gifts from men, for those who do not repent cannot dwell. Blessed is the Lord God, blessed is the Lord day by day: God will hasten our salvation. Our God, the God of salvation: and the Lord’s day, the Lord’s death, came forth. Otherwise, God will crush the heads of his enemies, the top of the powers that pass away in their sins. The Lord said: I will convert from Bashan, I will convert in the depths of the sea. For let your foot be drenched in blood, and your tongue from your enemy from him. I have seen your processions, O God, the processions of my God, the king, who is holy. The princes are present near the singers, in the midst of the tympanic virgins. In the churches, bless God, the Lord from the fountain of Israel. There, the youngest Benjamin is in horror, the princes of Judah and their rulers, the princes of Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali. Commandment, O God, by your power, strengthen, O God, this which you have done in us. From your temple in Jerusalem, the king's gifts will be brought to you. Forbid with the beast of reed: the host of youths among the youths of men, who shall shut up the tempted ones with silver: scatter the tongues of those who desire to curse. Women of prayer will come from Egypt, Ethiopia will advance her hand to God. Kingdoms of the earth, sing to God, sing to the Lord, who has ascended to the heavens in the east: behold, he will give his voice the voice of power. Give glory to God, upon Israel his splendor, and his power upon the clouds. God is marvelous in his saints, the God of Israel: he will give strength and dominion to his people: blessed be God.

Glory to the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. Glory to You, God.

Three times.
Lord have mercy.(3) Glory, even now. Amen.

Save me, O God, as water came down to my soul. The coal miner is in the darkness of the depths, and there is no constancy: I breathed into the depths of the sea, and the storm drowned me. My voice has grown weary, my throat has become silent: my eyes have disappeared from my hope in my God. Having increased more than the power of my head, the tuna that hates me: my enemies who have driven me out unjustly have become stronger; God, you have taken away my madness, and my sins have not been hidden from you. Let not those who bear with you be ashamed for my sake, O Lord, Lord of hosts; let not those who have for me be ashamed for you, O God of Israel. Because for your sake I have endured reproach, covering my face with shame. Strange to my brethren, and strange to my son's mother. For jealousy of your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have attacked me. And he covered my soul with fasting, and it became a reproach to me. And I put on my garment sackcloth, and became a parable to them. Those who sit in the gates mock at me, and those who drink wine mock at me. But my prayer is to you, O God: time of favor, O God: in the abundance of your mercy, hear me, in the truth of your salvation. Save me from the clay, that I may not drown: that I may be delivered from those who hate me, and from the deep waters. Let no storm of water drown me, let the depth below devour me, let the peer of his mouth bring his lips about me. Hear me, Lord, for your mercy is good: according to the multitude of your mercies, look upon me. Do not turn your face away from your child, for I am grieving; hear me soon. Take my soul, and deliver me: for the sake of my enemy, deliver me. For you weigh my reproach, and my coldness, and my shame: before you are all those who insult me. My soul and passion longed for something, and I waited for something that grieved me, and I didn’t find it, and I didn’t find it to console me. And you gave me bile for my food, and I gave my father something to drink for my thirst. Let their table be a snare before them, and a reward, and a temptation. Let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see, and let their backs be cut off. Pour out thy wrath upon her, and let the fury of thy wrath be upon them. Let their courtyard be empty, and let there be no living thing in their dwellings. You have already struck him down, driven him away, and added them to my sickness and ulcers. Add iniquity to their iniquity, and let them not enter into your righteousness. Let the books of the living be consumed, and not be written with the righteous. I am poor and sick, your salvation, O God, yes

will receive me, I will praise the name of my God with song, I will magnify him in praise: And God will be more pleased with a young calf that wears horns and claws. Let the poor see and rejoice: seek God, and your soul will live. For when the poor Lord hears, do not despise your own chains. May heaven and earth, the sea and all that live in it, praise him. For God will save Zion, and the cities of Judah will be created: and they will rejoice there, and they will inherit. And the seed of thy servants shall restrain him, and he that loveth thy name shall dwell in him.

God, come to my help: Lord, strive to help me. Let those who seek my soul be ashamed and put to shame; let those who wish evil against me turn back and be ashamed. Let those who are ashamed return and say to us: better, better. Let all those who seek you, O God, rejoice and rejoice in you; and let them say, “May the Lord be magnified who love your salvation.” But I am poor and needy, God, help me: you are my helper and my deliverer, Lord, do not become stubborn.

Imitating the powers above on earth, we bring a victorious song to You, the blessed one: holy, holy, holy art thou, O God, have mercy on us through the Mother of God. Master God, Father Almighty, Lord, only begotten Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Soul, one Divinity, one power, have mercy on me, a sinner: and in Your destinies, save me, Thy unworthy servant, for blessed art Thou unto the ages of ages, Amen.

And the real prayer of St. Eustratius.

I magnify You, O Lord, for You have respected my humility, and have shut me up in the hands of the enemy: but You have saved my soul from need. And now, Master, may Thy hand cover me, and may Thy mercy come upon me: for my soul is troubled and painful in its departure from my cursed body and this foul body. Yes, not when the evil adversary will destroy the council and punish me in the darkness, for the unknown and known sins of my life. Be merciful to me, Master, and may my soul not see the gloomy gaze of crafty demons

:but may Your bright and most bright angels receive me. Give glory to Your holy name, and by Your power lead me to Thy divine judgment Always sit with me, so that the hand of the prince of this world will not accept me, so as to tear me out, a sinner, into the depths of hell: but stand before me, and be my saver and intercessor, this bodily torment of joy is Thy servant. Have mercy, Lord, on my soul, defiled by the passions of this life, and accept it pure through repentance and confession, for blessed are you forever and ever, amen. Come, let's worshipthree times, and pslams:

Psalm 120

I lift up my eyes to the mountains, and from here my help will come. My help comes from the Lord, who created heaven and earth. Do not let your feet fall into confusion, keep you below to slumber. Behold, he will not sleep; the guardian of Israel will fall asleep. The Lord will protect you, the Lord will cover your right hand. During the days the sun will not burn you, but the moon will not burn you at night. The Lord will preserve you from all evil, the Lord will preserve your soul. The Lord will preserve your coming in and your going out from now and forever.

Psalm 133

Behold, now bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who stand in the temple of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God. At night, lift up your hands in holiness, and bless the Lord. The Lord will bless you from Zion, having created heaven and earth.

MIDNIGHT SUNDAY

Blessed be our God:

And we say:

Priest:For Yours is the Kingdom:We are: Amen: Is the same:Lord have mercy(12) . Glory, and now:Come, let's worship:three times.

Then you will be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, the wave offering and the burnt offering: then they will lay the bullock on Your altar.

And abiye verb canon of the Most Holy and Life-Giving Trinity

Trinity Canon of the Sixth Tone

As Israel walked across the dry land, with footsteps across the abyss, seeing the persecutor Pharaoh drowned, we sing a victorious song to God, crying out. Most Holy Trinity, our God, glory to Thee.

We sing the three hypostases of God, the one and only nature, the unchanging image, the goodness of the philanthropist God, granting us purification of sins.

One pre-existent and three-illuminated, O Lord, in one divinity, enlighten us and make us worthy of Your divine radiance.

Having adorned the bride, Paul, from the south of the language of the church, taught to worship the only Trinitarian God, from the worthless, and in him, and in him all things were.

And now, the Mother of God:

From your womb has passed the intelligent sun, Mother of God, and the three-bright deity of the dawns shines upon us, and we please you with our pious singing. There is no one holy like You, O Lord my God, who has lifted up the horn of Your faithful, O blessed One, and established us on the rock of Your confession.

Having adorned, O three-bright God, the ranks of heaven, Thou hast arranged to sing to Thee with thrice-holy voices: with them receive also us, who sing of Thy goodness.

The one immutable trinity, the one and only God, singing, we pray to You warmly, now grant us forgiveness for our many sins.

The mind without beginning, Father, conformed to the Word of God and the Divine Soul, good and right, who faithfully sing Your power, observe, as if you were gracious.

And now, the Mother of God:

Consume the pasture of aphids, man essentially became my God in your womb, pure: and the ancestors of the former condemnation are one of freedom. Lord have mercy(three times).

More about us:

Master God, look down from heaven and see our humility as generous, and be merciful, most loving of mankind: for from nowhere do we hope to receive forgiveness for the evil ones who have sinned, so be with us and no one else against us.

Glory, even now, to the Mother of God:

Look to the pure Lady, Mother of God, see our wounds of illness, and have mercy, most pure one, and heal the burning of conscience, watering with your mercy, and crying out to your servant: I am with you, and no one is against you.

Irmos: Christ is my strength, God and Lord, the honest Church sings gloriously, crying out, celebrating the Lord with pure meaning.

Elevate the thought, three-bright unit, and quickly elevate the soul and heart of Your singer, and grant Your radiance and lordship.

Convert and transform me from all evil to virtue, one undepicted and unchanging Trinity, and enlighten me with Your dawns.

Having thought first, you wisely composed the ranks of the angels, servant of Your goodness, trinitarian unit: with them, accept my praise.

And now, the Mother of God:

Who by nature, the uncreated God, ever-present, created by the perception of human nature, imagine in your holy womb, Mother of God, ever-virgin. With Thy God's light, O blessed One, illuminating the souls of Thy morning with love, I pray to lead Thee, the Word of God, the true God, crying out from the darkness of sin.

Thoughtful, the God-originating, providential and saving nature of all that exists, Lord, the three-light One, we pray to Thee, asking forgiveness for the falls.

Father, without beginning, God, and co-existent with the Son and the Holy Soul, establish the one-in-one Trinity, Your singers, and deliver from all misfortune and sorrow.

Control the god-bearing radiances, and for the good pleasure of Your trinitarian deity, the sun of glory, instructing me always, and create a participant in the divine kingdom.

And now, the Mother of God:

Whom you carry and keep with your omnipotent hand, the unchanging Word of God, preserve and keep You glorifying, through the prayers of the Mother of God who gave birth to You. The sea of life, raised in vain by misfortunes and storms, flowed to Your quiet refuge crying out to You: lift up my belly from aphids, O Omni-merciful One.

Grant wisdom and reason, the tri-bright Godhead to Thy singer, and grant kindness to the rays of Thy radiant goodness to shine upon all. Twice.

Light, inseparable in essence, trissian, almighty, unapproachable, illuminating the hearts of those who faithfully praise Your power, and towards divine love ahead.

And now, the Mother of God:

Dwell in you, ever-virgin, who is the Sustainer and Lord of all, and teach men to worship the one trisian image of the deity.

Lord have mercy.

More about us:

Father and Son, with the Holy Spirit, look upon us, who worship You by faith, and glorify Your power, graciously, with fiery mortals, for do You know no other, and cry to those who sing Thee: I am with you, and no one is against you.

Glory, even now, to the Mother of God:

Look upon us, all-sung Mother of God, shine enlightenment on darkened hearts, and illuminate your flock, most pure one: as much as you will and are able, as the mother of your creator: and cry to those who pray to you: I am with you, and no one is against you. The angel made the venerable cave into a venerable youth: the Chaldeans mourned the command of God, admonishing the tormentor to cry out: Blessed are you, O God of our fathers.

Give me a strong thought, three-light outline of the unit, to keep and keep Your divine commandments, and always sing to You faithfully: blessed art thou, O God of our father.

As you are sung by the identity of nature, the ineffable only God, bearing the number of the persons of the Trinity, keep us all from various temptations and circumstances.

Co-natural and co-essential we glorify, the one and only Thee in the essence of God, properties not fused by the hypostatic Trinity, simply offering different things, in the sight of an indispensable appearance.

And now, the Mother of God:

The all-present God has been received, O most pure one, from your pure womb, now this kindly meeting of mankind is revealed, and teach everyone to cry out: Blessed are you, O God of our fathers. From the flames of the saints you poured dew, and you burned the righteous sacrifice with water, for you did everything, O Christ, only as you wished: We exalt you to all ages.

Grant me the purification of sins soon, and deliverance from manifold passions, in accordance with the Trinity, the trinitarian unit: may I glorify Thee to all ages.

The Commander of mercy is known, for God is merciful, have mercy on all, the three-light unit and the Trinity, who glorify Your majesty.

From the light of the ever-present Father, the light co-essentially born of the Word, with the Spirit as the original light, we glorify by faith and exalt to all ages.

And now, the Mother of God:

A human physician, most pure, you gave birth to, the omnipotent Word, Christ the Lord, the ancestral ulcer of all, who exalt him forever. It is impossible for a man to see God, the angels do not dare to look at him, for by you, O all-pure One, the Word incarnate has appeared as a man: and magnifying him, we will please you with the heavenly howls.

Behold the rank of cherubim, O Lord, the glory of Thy kindness is not powerful, the wings cover themselves, incessantly cry out the trinitarian song, the trinitarian hymn of Thy divine superiority, the only power, glorifying.

Thy radiance, unsetting sun, grant to the hearts of Thy servants: and enlighten our souls, and deliver from many sins, the only all-merciful and trinitarian one: and grant us Thy incorruptible life.

Hedgehog, the one-honoured and trisolar and light-spreading light, the existing deity, illumine those who sing of You with faith, and deliver from dark villainy, and make Your brightest villages worthy, as most good.

And now, the Mother of God:

Your son, the virgin, created the wisdom of man before, and renew the decayed one with you, all-singing: and fill everyone with the divine light of the dawn of never-evening, glorifying you with true faith, the Mother of God.

The same refrain:

It is worthy to eat, as truly, to glorify God the Word, whom the cherubim endure and tremble, and glorify the powers of heaven, who rose three days from the tomb of Christ, the giver of life, with fear.

Let us all sing with divine songs, the Father, and the Son, and the Divine Spirit, the trinitarian power, the one kingdom and dominion.

Now all earthly beings sing and glorify the heavenly powers, faithfully worshiped by all, an essentially trinitarian unit.

The God-beginning cherub, and the God-beginning seraphim without comparison, the indivisible Trinity in one, the real God-beginning, we magnify You.

I worship the beginningless Father and God, the co-beginning Word with the Spirit, the inseparable one united being, we honor the three-numbered unit with songs.

Thy radiant lightning shine forth upon me, O my God, the Trinitarian Omnipotent, and show me the house of Thy unapproachable glory, bright and luminous and unchanging.

The cherubs tremble and tremble, and the angelic armies praise Him, from the virgin indescribably incarnate, let us glorify Christ, the giver of life, with fear.

And prayer Holy Trinity, creation of Mark the monk

Almighty and life-giving Holy Trinity, and the source of light, even every peaceful and worldly creature, for one goodness from those who brought, and provided and contained: like your others about the earthly kind of good deeds, and granted repentance to us for the sake of carnal infirmity until death: do not leave us those accursed in our crafty deeds will die, below the evil-doer, and the envy, and the destroyer, it is a mockery to be: see, O kindhearted one, how much slander and enmity there is against us: how great is our passion, and weakness, and negligence. But do Thy infinite goodness upon us, we pray, every day and hour that angers Thy honest and life-giving commandments by transgression. And all the sins we have committed in our past life and up to the present hour, in deeds, or in words, or in thoughts, forgive and forgive. Vouchsafe us the rest of our lives to end our lives in repentance, tenderness, and observance of Your holy commandments. If you were deceived by sweetness by the manifold sins, or if you were seduced by vile lusts that are unhelpful and harmful; if you were seduced by anger and

moved by wordless rage, who insulted our brother: if with the tongue of inevitable, and obstinate, and strong snares we embraced: if with which of our feelings, or with all, willy-nilly, or involuntarily, knowingly, or unknowingly, from admiration, or teaching, we crawled madly: if with the crafty ones thoughts and vain desecration of the conscience: if we have sinned in any other way, from the enterprise and custom of evil, forgive us, and leave us all, all-generous, most blessed and abundantly merciful: and grant us other courage and strength to do Your will good, and grateful and sacred: let us replace the nightly and dark evil with light-like repentance, and as we walk gracefully in the days, and purified, let us show ourselves to Thy love for mankind, unworthiness, praising Thee and magnifying thee forever, Amen.

Both release and forgiveness are ordinary.

The priest also says the litany:

Let us pray for our lord:

and so on.

Rising to pray at midnight was an ancient tradition dating back to pre-Christian times. The psalmist says: At midnight I rose to praise You for Your righteous judgments (Ps 119:62). Paul and Silas sang praises to God in prison around midnight (Acts 16:25). As we remember, Basil the Great refers to both of these texts as a justification for the monastic practice of midnight prayer.

In ancient times, when there was no electric lighting and the rhythm of life obeyed the natural rhythm of day and night, it was customary to go to bed shortly after sunset and get up at dawn. The monks sought to reduce sleep time as much as possible, and therefore monastic services were performed after sunset, at midnight, and early in the morning. A “full” eight- or even six-hour night was not available to the monk, who had to interrupt his sleep with prayer at midnight. Some monks slept without undressing or going to bed, like warriors ready for battle. Abstaining from sleep was perceived as one of the important ascetic feats that make up the monastic lifestyle.

IN modern form The Midnight Office is the fruit of long development. Scientists disagree about the origin of the Midnight Office, since the variety of liturgical sources does not allow us to draw clear conclusions on this issue. What is undeniable, however, is the original connection of the Midnight Office with the monastic tradition: this connection continues to this day, since the Midnight Office is celebrated only in monasteries (and not at midnight, but in the early morning hours). The only exception is the Easter Midnight Office, celebrated in parish churches before the start of the night Easter service.

There are three types of Midnight Office: daily, Saturday and Sunday. The main element daily midnight office is the reading of Psalm 119, divided into three parts. In the Eastern Christian tradition, the attitude towards Psalm 119 was especially reverent: this psalm was perceived as a messianic one, spoken on behalf of Christ. At the same time, Psalm 119 is a kind of compendium of ascetic life:

In this psalm, David describes the life of the saints, their exploits, sorrows, labors, also the uprisings of demons, thousands of inspired thoughts, snares and other means of entrapment, and at the same time what the saints use to win: the law, the words of God, patience, help from above and, finally, what will follow the work, rewards, crowns, rewards.

Behold, the Bridegroom comes at midnight, and blessed is the servant, Behold, the Bridegroom comes at midnight, and blessed is that servant,
He who is awake will find him, but he who is awake will not be worthy again, but he who is awake will be unworthy.
It will also be found in despondency. Watch over the slaughter whom He finds discouraged. Be careful

shut up. But arise, calling: the Kingdom (of God). But rise up, crying:
Holy, Holy, Holy art thou God, by the Mother of God Holy, Holy, Holy art Thou, O God,
have mercy on us. (with prayers) Mother of God, have mercy on us.

The troparion is based on the parable of ten virgins who came to a wedding feast, but forgot to buy oil for their lamps; when the groom came, they were unprepared and remained outside the bridal chamber (see: Matthew 25:1-13). At the same time, the troparion contains allusions to Christ’s parable about the slaves waiting for their master to return from the wedding feast (see: Lk 12:35-40). Both parables in the Eastern Christian tradition are interpreted as a call to spiritual wakefulness. The main content of the Midnight Office is the expectation of the Second Coming of the Son of Man.

To this troparion are added two others, followed by the final part of the Midnight Office, which includes several morning prayers, psalms 120 and 132, two funeral troparions and one funeral prayer.

The Saturday Midnight Office is almost completely different in composition from the daily service. Instead of the 118th Psalm, the Saturday Midnight Office includes the 9th Kathisma, which includes Psalms 64-69. The prayer of St. Eustratius is also read on it. This prayer, according to legend, belongs to a martyr condemned to be burned during the reign of the emperors Diocletian and Maximin. According to the life, the prayer “Glorifying, I magnify You, Lord” was said by Saint Eustratius on the way to the place of execution.

The Sunday Midnight Office differs from Saturday and every day in that the kathisma is not read, but instead of the kathisma the canon is performed. Octoechos prescribes the reading of the Trinity canons at the Sunday Midnight Office, written by Metrophanes II, Patriarch of Constantinople (1440-1443).

Psalm 67

May God arise and His enemies be scattered, and may those who hate Him flee from His presence. As smoke disappears, let them disappear, as wax melts in the face of fire, so let sinners perish from the face of God. And let the righteous rejoice, let them rejoice before God, let them enjoy themselves in joy! Sing to God, sing to His name; prepare the way for the One who ascended in the west - the Lord is His name - and rejoice before Him. May they be troubled at the presence of Him, the father of the orphans and the judge of widows: God is in His holy place. God brings the lonely into the home, bringing out the chained with courage, just like the offenders who dwell in the tombs. God, when You went out before Your people, when You walked through the wilderness, the earth shook and the heavens melted at the presence of the God of Sinai, at the presence of the God of Israel. You will generously give rain, O God, to Your inheritance, and it became weak, but You strengthened it. Your animals live in it; You have prepared it in Your goodness for the poor, O God. The Lord will give to those who preach the gospel the word with much power, He is the King of the armies of the Beloved, so that for the sake of the beauty of the house they will divide the spoil. If you rest in the midst of your inheritance, it will be like the wings of a dove plated with silver, and its back with a sheen of gold. When the God of Heaven scatters the kings throughout this earth, they will become like the snow on Selmon. The Mountain of God is a fat mountain, a fertile mountain, a fat mountain! Why do you suspect, O fertile mountains, that mountain on which God was pleased to dwell? After all, this is where the Lord will dwell forever! The chariots of God are countless in number; thousands of prosperous people; The Lord is among them at Sinai in the sanctuary. You ascended on high, captured those taken captive, received gifts among people, and even the rebellious, in order to dwell among them. Blessed is the Lord God, blessed is the Lord every day; the God of our salvation will give us success. Our God is a God of salvation, and the Lord’s, the Lord’s gate of death. But God will crush the heads of His enemies, the hairy crown of those who walk in their sins. The Lord said: I will bring you back from Bashan, I will bring you back from the depths of the sea, so that your foot may plunge into the blood, and the tongue of your dogs into the blood of His enemies. Thy processions, O God, have been revealed to my eyes—the processions of my God, the King, Who is in the sanctuary. The princes walked ahead, alongside the maidens with timbrels singing in the midst: “In your assemblies, bless God, the Lord, from the fountains of Israel.” Benjamin the younger is there in admiration, the princes of Judah are their leaders, the princes of Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali. Command, O God, by Your power, confirm, O God, what You have done for us! For the sake of Your temple in Jerusalem, kings will bring You gifts. Threaten the beasts in the reeds, the host of bulls among the heifers of the nations, so that they do not imprison those tried like silver. Scatter the tribes who want war. Envoys will come from Egypt, Ethiopia will be the first to stretch out her hand to God. Kingdoms of the earth, sing praises to God, sing praises to the Lord, who has ascended into the heaven of the heavens to the east; Behold, He will make a mighty sound with His voice. Give glory to God; His splendor is upon Israel, and His power is upon the clouds. God is marvelous in His saints; The God of Israel Himself will give strength and power to His people. Blessed be God.

Blessed are those who are blameless in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. Blessed are those who search His testimonies; they will seek Him with all their hearts. For those who do not commit iniquity have walked in His ways. You commanded to keep Your commandments firmly. Oh, that my paths would be directed toward preserving Your commandments! Then I would not be ashamed, considering all Your commandments. I will glorify You in uprightness of heart when I learn the judgments of Your righteousness. I will keep Your commandments; don't leave me until the end. How will the young man correct his path? In preserving Your words. With all my heart I have sought You; do not cast me away from Your commandments. I have hidden Your sayings in my heart, so as not to sin before You. Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your commandments. With my mouth I have declared all the judgments of Your mouth. On the path of Your testimonies I have enjoyed, as in all riches. I will reason about Your commandments and understand Your ways. I will pay attention to Your commandments; I will not forget Your words. Reward Your servant, revive me, and I will keep Your words. Open my eyes, and I will understand the wonders of Your law. I am a settler on earth: do not hide Your commandments from me. My soul has desired to strive for Your judgments at all times. You have rebuked the proud; Cursed are those who turn away from Your commandments. Take away from me reproach and contempt, for I have sought Your testimonies. For behold, the princes sat down and slandered me, but Your servant reasoned about Your commandments. For Thy testimonies are my occupation, and my counselors are Thy commandments. My soul fell to the earth; quicken me according to Your word. I declared my ways, and You heard me; teach me Your commandments. Let me understand the way of Your commandments, and I will reason about Your wonders. My soul has fallen asleep from negligence: strengthen me in Your words. Remove the path of unrighteousness from me and have mercy on me with Your law. I have chosen the path of truth and have not forgotten Your judgments. I have clung to Your testimonies; Lord, don't shame me! I ran the path of Your commandments when You enlarged my heart. Set for me, O Lord, the path of Your commandments by law, and I will seek it constantly. Give me understanding, and I will search Your law, and I will keep it with all my heart. Guide me on the path of Your commandments, for I have desired it. Incline my heart to Your testimonies, and not to money-grubbing. Turn away my eyes, so as not to see vanity; on Your path revive me. Make Thy servant Thy word to fear. Remove my reproach, which I fear, for Your judgments are good. Behold, I have desired Your commandments; quicken me in Your righteousness. And may Thy mercy, O Lord, come upon me, Thy salvation according to Thy word. And I will answer those who reproach my word, for I trust in Your words. And do not take the words of truth from my lips until the end, for I have trusted in Your judgments. And I will keep Your law always, forever and ever. And I walked in the open, for I sought Thy commandments, and spoke of Thy testimonies before kings, and was not ashamed, and practiced Thy commandments, which I loved dearly, and lifted up my hands to Thy commandments, which I loved, and reasoned about Thy commandments. Remember Your words to Your servant, with which You gave me hope. This comforted me in my humiliation, that Your word revived me. The proud have transgressed the law to the extreme, but I have not deviated from Your law. I remembered Your judgments from time immemorial, O Lord, and was comforted. Sorrow has overcome me because of sinners who forsake Your law. Your commandments were like songs to me at the place of my wandering. I remembered Your name at night, O Lord, and kept Your law. This happened to me, because I sought Your commandments. You are my destiny, Lord; I said: I will try to preserve Your law. I prayed before Your face with all my heart; have mercy on me according to your word. I have pondered Your ways and turned my feet to Your testimonies. I prepared myself and was not dismayed to keep Your commandments. The ropes of sinners have entwined me, and I have not forgotten Your law. At midnight I got up to glorify You for Your righteous judgments. I am a fellow member of all who fear You and keep Your commandments. The earth is full of Thy mercy, O Lord: teach me Thy commandments. You have dealt kindly with Your servant, O Lord, according to Your word. Teach me kindness, good manners, and knowledge, for I have believed Your commandments. Before I humbled myself, I sinned, therefore I kept Your word. You are good, O Lord, and in Your goodness teach me Your commandments. The injustice of the proud has multiplied against me, but I will search Your commandments with all my heart. Their heart thickened like milk, but I delved deeper into Your law. It is good for me that You have humbled me, so that I may learn Your commandments. The law of Your mouth is more good to me than thousands of gold and silver.

The Midnight Office is one of the services of the daily liturgical circle, dedicated to the coming Coming of Jesus Christ and Last Judgment. It is performed at midnight or at any hour of the night until morning only once a day. Depending on the day, it happens casual, Saturday, Sunday And Easter.

According to the Charter, the Midnight Office precedes, but in modern liturgical practice it is usually served before. In the parable of the ten virgins (Matthew 25:1-13), the second coming of the Lord is depicted as the coming of the Bridegroom, “ coming at midnight" Hence the service of the Midnight Office reminds us precisely of this coming appearance of the Lord, “ like taty in the night“, for the judgment of us, and the whole consists of hymns depicting this coming of the Lord (troparia: “Behold the bridegroom”) and repentant cries of the soul, awaiting the judgment of God in fear and confusion (psalm 50 and 17 kathisma).

The emergence of worship performed at night dates back to the birth of the Christian Church. During the persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire, night time was the safest time for worship. At the same time, the Church has always kept in mind that midnight is a time primarily convenient in its silence for concentrated prayerful conversations with God and for thinking about sins and their correction. This is how he looks at the establishment of midnight worship (Second Epistle to Gregory the Theologian). According to interpreters, the Midnight Office was established, firstly, in order to remind believers of the prayerful midnight feat of Jesus Christ before His free suffering; secondly, for a constant reminder of the day of the Second Coming of Christ, which, according to the general belief of the Church, based on the Savior’s parable of the ten virgins, is at midnight.

The rite of the Midnight Office in Rus' and the sequence of prayers

In Rus', the rite of the Midnight Office, close to the modern one, developed by the 14th century. The Book of Hours from the collection of the Sofia Library in Novgorod contains three types of the Midnight Office. A mention of the Trinity canons at Sunday Midnight Office is contained in “ Psalms with prayer"15th century, after the Midnight Office of the Daily and Saturday, placed " The Canon of the Holy and Life-Giving Trinity, sung on the week before Matins instead of the Midnight Office", and after it " choruses for It is worthy to eat"and the prayer of St. Trinity. In this order, the types of the Midnight Office have survived to this day.

The daily Midnight Office consists of reading the penitential (50) psalm, psalm 118 (17 kathisma), the Creed, the troparions “Behold the bridegroom comes at midnight,” psalms 120 and 133 and funeral troparions. Saturday Midnight Office is different in that instead of the 17th, the 9th kathisma and other troparia for the first Trisagion are read. At Sunday Midnight Office, instead of kathisma, a canon is performed, followed by choruses and prayer in honor of the Holy Trinity. An important part of any Midnight Office is fraternal Forgiveness. This prayer is performed both in the cathedral service and in the cell room. The abbot asks for forgiveness from all the brethren, and the brethren mutually asks for forgiveness from the abbot. Archbishop Simeon of Thessaloniki(late 14th – early 15th centuries) describes the Midnight Office as follows:

At midnight, or a little later, when the board is struck, as if depicting the last trumpet of the Angel, everyone awakens from sleep, as from death. Then, when the priest, representing Christ and holding His priesthood, in the vestibule of the temple, as if on earth before heaven, gives a blessing (as prayers must begin with a priest, and he, like everyone else, must begin with God), then the brethren are all together They say: " Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee", and read what follows in order. The first thing you should do is give glory to God and then continue what you need to do.

Currently, the text of all three types of the Midnight Office can be found in the Book of Hours or in the modern edition of the Old Believer Prayer Book. Like the Vespers, the Midnight Office is highly desirable for every Christian to perform daily. According to the modern tradition of cell prayer, the Midnight Office is read by a Christian as the first prayer after awakening from sleep (regardless of when this awakening occurs).
